I don’t know why, but it just kind of hit me all of a sudden that my friends don’t really know me as well as they should. That probably sounds more dramatic than it is, and of course the people I’ve known for over half of my life or more know me and get what kind of person I am on a fundamental level, but I guess I just am realizing the consequences of not opening up to people enough and it’s kind of bumming me out. This isn’t to say that my friendships are shallow, but there’s just so much that I keep to myself, mostly out of shame or self-consciousness. Certainly it’s natural to some degree -- we don’t all tell everyone in our lives absolutely everything about ourselves, and it’s definitely not uncommon for people to keep really personal things to themselves -- but ultimately I don’t think that being as reserved as I have been has really been all that good for me.
#idk I think I realized this on some level every time I had some sort of life 'crisis'#like when my dad died a few years ago and when my garage/car burned down this year and so on#I just felt far too uncomfortable to try to lean on anyone#and sure everyone deals with stuff differently but IDK!!!#it'd maybe be nice to open up to someone for once and not feel so deeply embarrassed#really this post isn't totally about Serious Life Stuff anyway -- I'm private about even mundane things too ugh#✏️
