How to be approachable
Being approachable is an important characteristic that can improve your personal and professional life. Here are some suggestions on how to cultivate and sustain these quality:
Smiling can increase approachability and friendliness. It creates a pleasant environment and encourages others to interact with you.
Open Body Language: Avoid crossing your arms or standing with your hands in your pockets since they can make you appear closed off. Instead, use open body language by facing people squarely, creating eye contact (this can be really hard though), and having your arms relaxed at your sides.
Active listening demonstrates a real interest in what others have to say. Nodding, and asking follow-up questions show that you value their input and promote additional conversation. I always try to listen attentively It makes people feel heard especially when you also ask questions when they tell a story. As someone who talks a lot I also love listening
Be approachable. Physically: Position yourself in situations where people can easily approach you. Do not isolate yourself in a corner or bury your face in your phone.
Initiate Conversation: Take the initiative to engage in conversations with people. This might be as easy as a polite greeting or a question about their day. Small gestures can go a long way toward making others feel comfortable approaching you. This is so important not all the time people will want to approach you because they might be shy or wary, so if you're interested in making a conversation with someone, sometimes you just need to get up and go for it.
Approachability in Communication: When communicating, be aware of your tone and body language. Strive to express warmth and openness rather than being combative or dismissive.
I hope this helps and you feel more inclined to approach people and others see you as approachable
bye for now my dew drops..
