That is very true, which also leads into a problem
The problem isn’t prep time.
The problem is the writers and fans that only see Batman as the guy that is all about prep time.
It’s not all he is, he struggles, he wants to help more than hurt. He wants to strike fear into criminals to STOP crime, not because he wants to scare.
That’s Batman. He is a man that wants to create a world where a kid doesn’t lose his parents to a badguy with a gun.

Waiting for students get where they need to go is a double-edge sword.
It's good for when you're setting an elimination and the lack of witnesses make it easier to set up.
Especially, if you're setting things up to kill a rival while they make their way to their activity/event. Like setting a bucket trap on a door they're gonna walk through.
However, it's not as good when you're waiting for characters to get where they need to go, especially when the setup to an elimination method is already complete or really simple.
Say if you set a cooler trap inside of a room where you know your rival will be closest to. You'll have to wait for your rival to get their specific event/location/activity so you can actually lure them in.
Basically what I trying to say is, characters taking their time to get their activities is great for prep time, but not so much if you have everything in place and wanna get things over with. If that makes sense.
