Power On/Off Automatically in No Man’s Sky
Posting this here so I can find this again next time I’m wiring up another base (probably tomorrow). After getting extremely frustrated earlier today trying to get powered doors to open when approached, and things like lights and the teleporter to only be on when I’m near them, I finally got it working this evening. I found most of the written instructions online to be hard to picture, and those with illustrations to be difficult to figure out (don’t cross the lines!), so I’ve made my own clearer (to me at least) illustrations. Lengthier explanation under the cut!
Edited to add TLDR summary: In most cases you only need a proximity switch (turn things on when near), or the wiring shown in the first illustration above (power when not near, turn off when near) for things like powered doors. The second illustration above is apparently related to building in a delay (each inverter takes a small period of time to operate). Yup, when I initially wrote this I was still very confused. *Exits grumbling*
Watching a Youtube video took waaaaaay too much time but did make clear a couple issues I was experiencing; like that the proximity switch has a startlingly huge radius of effect. There were probably times I actually did have things wired correctly, but since I was standing less than a room and a bit’s length away from the sensor, it wasn’t making any noticeable change of state as I moved around... you basically have to run a distance away from it after wiring it up, then return, to actually see the state change. Though this does have the benefit that you only need one sensor to open/close a door from either side, and you can turn on everything in a roughly 3x3 tile area (possibly larger) with just one sensor in the middle. Well, technically you can turn on a much larger area, but it’ll turn back off as soon as you get too far from that sensor.
Anyway, explanations! The first illustration is the wiring to use for stuff like powered doors; they’re closed when powered and open when unpowered (so you don’t get trapped inside if the power runs out), so we want the sensor to turn the power to the door OFF as you approach. Run power from your source to both the sensor and the inverter; they need power to operate. Run a line from the second connection of the proximity switch to the signal-input connection of the inverter (the base of the T its three connections make). Run a final line from the remaining connection to the item to be powered off. Basically when you’re nowhere near the sensor, the inverter will just pass power through, holding the door closed. If you get within range of the sensor, it signals the inverter to flip states, so it stops allowing power through, and the door, deprived of power, will open.
However, for things that you want to only have ON when near them, such as the lights or the teleporter, we need to add in a second inverter, as shown in the second illustration. Again, all of them need to be connected to a power source to work, and this time rather than cutting power to the item, the first inverter is switching the state of the second inverter, which can now only let power through when the sensor is active.
To have one switch controlling multiple items, wire the additional items to that first item after the inverter, and not at any point to another power source.
Addendum: AFAIK there’s no way to turn off a teleporter within a powered modular base, since just being inside a powered-up prefab module also powers it up.
Edited to add: Though if it’s something like a single module outpost, you could toggle the power for everything, including the module itself, using something like the following, where the door is still being toggled by the first inverter and the base module by the second:

...and now I feel a sudden urgent need to run around rewiring all my bases. Also removing things they no longer need (because I have an exosuit mounted refiner now) and making sure they all run off solar panels and batteries, not bio generators as my first ones did (and giving those early bases LIGHTS, now that I don’t have to run a generator to power them).
FURTHER edited to add: (After spending yesterday running around re-wiring bases). DUUUURRRRRR... at bases where the only need is to turn on power when near, all you actually need is the proximity switch. The two-inverters-in-a-row thing comes from an explanation in one of the (many) wiring tutorials I was slogging though the other day, and on a re-read it’s about how to build in a longer delay to the operation of something, since apparently each power inverter takes a small-but-noticeable amount of time to actually switch states (so you can chain them in longer sequence for longer delays, if desired).

The Best Power Inverter For Cars and Trucks
Power inverters for cars and trucks are becoming increasingly popular due to a large number of devices and gadgets that must be powered or at least occasionally charged while in the car.
Tumblr media
As such, car power inverters should feature a car cigarette lighter adapter plug (12V DC) providing high-speed charging for smartphones, tablets, cameras, drones, but also for laptops and similar devices. However, due to the power limitations of the car cigarette lighter adapter, the output power of car inverters is also limited.

Understanding Power Inverter: Basic to Advance
Tumblr media
Are you tired of having your options for power outlets when you’re out and about or when there’s a power outage? Then it is time to deep dive into the fascinating the world of power inverter. This comprehensive article will explain all you need to know about power inverter, from the fundamentals to the more complex concepts, in a clear and concise manner.
What is Power Inverter?
A power inverter is an electronic device that converts direct current (DC) electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity. It allows you to use devices and appliances that run on AC power when you only have access to DC power sources, such as batteries or solar panels. Power inverters are commonly used in various applications. Read Full Article

For a 1000W power inverter demand, the VoltWorks 1000-watt power inverter can be the best choice. It is reliable and generates pure sine wave current, so it is perfect to power all those devices which are power sensitive.
It is a 12VDC to 110V AC power inverter from VoltWorks. You can easily connect this power inverter to a 12-volt battery then it will start converting the battery DC power to 110V AC power. With this amount of power (1000W), you can run a wide range of devices and home appliances that require less than 1000W input power.

If you were going to make a character that was the soul of planet earth in a human body you might think to make her motherly. Wise. Forgiving. Mother Earth cares for us, she provides, right? But Tamsyn Muir wrote Nona the Ninth and said YES planet earth is loving but also she is SO SO ANGRY and HURTING. And actually she cannot care for others right now she needs to be cared FOR.
Also she wants to eat pencils and she thinks flowers are sexy.

Ammonites have been thriving in these prehistoric oceans for almost 400 million years. There are thousands of species. They are one of the most successful groups of animals to have ever lived, flourishing in the warm, temperate seas, and even the coldest waters at the poles.
