The Ten Days of Ex-Mas (Teaser)
Tumblr media
Posting Date: Tuesday, December 19th, 7:00 PM CT
Creative Collaborator: @kithtaehyung FOR THIS AMAZING BANNER!
Genre:  Holiday / Second Chance!AU / Hockey!AU
Pairing: Jimin / Reader (F)
Length: One Shot
Synopsis: Three months following the worst break-up of your life, you finally feel ready to start moving on. The world, it seems, has other ideas when you pick up the phone and find your ex-boyfriend calling.
Jimin Park, star right winger of the NHL and (until recently), the love of your life, has a very large problem. Despite the courage he regularly shows on the ice, in his personal life, Jimin is kind of a coward. When you broke up this fall, he could barely admit it. Not to his neighbors. Not to his friends. Not even to his family, who are expecting him home for Christmas. In a desperate plea for more time, Jimin begs you to pretend you’re still dating – and to his surprise, you agree. Faced with a second chance, Jimin is determined not to squander it. If only fixing a relationship were as easy as falling in love.
Author’s Note: Part of the Jingle All the Way collaboration!
Estimated WC: 45K (... whoops; this will probably be multiple parts)

Y/N POV
You should have known better than to trust Namjoon with your dating life.
Yoongi never would have put you in this situation. The more level-headed of your two best friends, Yoongi approaches matters of the heart with the same rationality he does everything else. Namjoon, on the other hand, is a great guy – who is notoriously bad at reading other people.
The number of times you’ve been forced to step in and save him from phone scams is astounding. It’s not his fault, really – Namjoon trusts too easily, which doesn’t serve him well in this world. He’s always willing to give others the benefits of the doubt, which gets him into trouble.
And now you, by extension, having accepted the blind date he proposed.
Mike Davis moved into Namjoon’s building two months ago, and Namjoon has been adamant since the start that you two would hit it off.
“He goes to all the same conventions you do,” he assured you last week on the phone.
“Which conventions?” you asked, squinting hard at the wall. “I know you’re not big into nerd culture, Namjoon, so as an FYI – not all cons are considered equal.”
Namjoon rattled off a few you’d attended, impressing you enough to agree despite the initial disinterest. This agreement may have been spurred by tonight being the three-month anniversary of the worst break-up of your life.
Almost as soon as you sat, you realized your mistake. While you may have reached a point where you don’t cry every time your ex’s name is mentioned, the prospect of dating someone else is an entirely different matter. Getting dressed up felt strange, as did traveling to the restaurant and waiting for Mike at the bar.
The fact that Mike called this place a ‘restaurant’ should have been your first clue, as Hat Trick is most definitely a sports bar – specifically, a hockey bar. Had you known (really, you should have known), you wouldn’t have gone, but you were nervous and trying to make a good impression. Upon arriving, you arranged yourself awkwardly on a sticky bar stool and waited seven minutes for Mike to walk in.
Nearly an hour later, you find yourself regretting coming at all. Mike excused himself two minutes ago for the bathroom and as soon as he left, you sagged with relief.
He’s a nice guy, you suppose. Good looking, with light brown curls and dark eyes. You can see why Namjoon thought he might be good for you – Mike is the exact opposite of your ex in many ways. Constantly frazzled, he arrived late to the bar, only to immediately duck outside because he forgot to pay the parking meter. Jimin was the type to unpack his suitcase immediately after reaching the hotel and brought several chargers in case one of them died.
Once the meter was paid, Mike sat down and immediately launched into his entire life story. You suppose you should have been happy about this, since lack of communication ended your last relationship but instead, found yourself overwhelmed.
Mike finally paused for breath once your drinks arrived, allowing you a moment to answer his questions. The moment you said you ran a pretty popular cosplay TikTok, Mike instantly shifted from arrogant to insecure.
“I can’t believe you came,” he exhaled with a shake of his head. “When Namjoon showed me your picture, I said no way would you go out with me. You’re way too beautiful.”
Somewhat awkward, you laughed. “Don’t try and get me to leave, now, Mike.”
His eyes widened, not catching your sarcasm and it took several moments to get back on track. Everything since has been downhill, so when he excused himself for the bathroom, all you felt was relief.
Digging through your purse, you pull out your phone and swipe to the group chat.
Y/N: Namjoon, WHAT possessed you to set me up with this man [7:46 PM]
Yoongi’s reply comes immediately.
Yoongi: told you it was too soon [7:46 PM]
Namjoon’s ellipses join in.
Namjoon: what! Why? What happened?? Mike didn’t try something on you, did he? [7:47 PM]
Y/N: no, no – nothing like that [7:47 PM]
Y/N: he just keeps saying how *amazing* I am and how he doesn’t know why I’m on this date at all [7:47 PM]
Yoongi: dude [7:48 PM]
Y/N: EXACTLY [7:48 PM]
Before Namjoon can respond, the bartender changes the channel and an all-too-familiar name blares over the speakers. Slowly, you look up, and all thoughts of Mike fade, faced with NHL coverage.
Nope, no – absolutely not.
Leaning over the counter, you lightly tap the bartender. “Hi.” Brightly, you smile. “First off, could I have another glass of white wine? And then, maybe… could you change the channel?”
Glancing around, the guy shakes his head. “Yes, to the wine, but no, the channel,” he says with a shrug. “Half the people in here came to watch the game. Pre-show coverage is part of that.”
With an apologetic nod, he grabs a rag and disappears. Sinking back in your seat, you stare at your hands, clasped tightly together. Your spot at the bar puts you in the unfortunate position of hearing each word the announcers say crystal-clear.
“Well, Josh, what chance do you think the Blackhawks have tonight?”
The silver-haired man beside him bobs his head. “Steve, I’d say their chances are pretty darn good. You’ve seen this team’s early games. Their first line is strong, especially now that Park’s back.”
“Oh, absolutely – Jimin Park has been crucial in the last couple of games. He was sorely missed last season.”
“Ha! You can say that again.”
Trying to hide your wince, you clasp your hands tighter as a fresh glass of wine is set down. “Thanks,” you mutter, downing half in one gulp.
Immediately, your plans for later tonight shift to accommodate another bottle of wine. Movement catches the corner of your eye, and, despite yourself, you watch the montage of star right winger, Jimin Park, tearing his way down the ice. Shamefully, you recognize every shot since, although you broke up in September, you continued to watch every game.
“One of the most talked about moments last year in hockey was the late check on Park by Blues player, Brent Howard,” continues the announcer, Josh. “His helmet came loose when he hit the boards, and he went down hard on the ice. Park suffered a sprained knee and herniated a disc in his neck. A complicated surgery took him for most of the season, only starting to skate with the team again over the summer.”
Hearing the trauma recounted with such callousness, you find yourself gripping your wine glass tighter than before.
“I don’t think anyone ever expected Park to play again,” agrees the other announcer, Steve. “It’s a damned miracle he’s back on the ice – but to return and be this good? Park has always been one of the best right wingers in the league, but I’d say he’s the best offensive player on the ice right now.”
“A bold claim!” laughs Josh. “But I might just agree. Even Jungkook Jeon on the Rangers hasn’t been matching Park in assists.”
“Exactly! I mean, look at the numbers. Last year, the Blackhawks barely made the playoffs and now, they’re first in the Western Conference.”
“Truly amazing, given the nature of his injury last November. I don’t know how familiar you are with herniated discs, Steve, but –”
Mike slides back onto his stool. Grateful for the distraction, you turn fully to face him. Having already lived through the injury once, you have no need to reminisce. Replacing your phone in your purse, you smile gamely at Mike.
“So,” you say, attempting to save the conversation. “Namjoon mentioned you like conventions? What fandoms are you a part of?”
“Oh.” Mike loosely shrugs. “I doubt you’ve heard of any of them.”
At his dismissive tone, you stiffen. Your experience with the male side of fandom is always a toss-up. “Well, there are a lot of them. Any that are more mainstream?”
He considers. “Marvel?”
Stunned, you blink once or twice. Marvel has to be one of the biggest fandoms on the planet, let alone in the country. Even if you weren’t deep in the convention circuit, you’d have heard of Marvel.
“Yeah,” you say slowly. “I think I’ve heard of that.”
“Cool, cool.” Mike nods. “Namjoon said you do cosplay – and showed me your TikTok! You know, you’d make a great Wonder Woman.”
You can practically feel your jaw tighten. “That’s DC, not Marvel. But thanks.”
Silent, you add for nothing. While you love Wonder Woman and have, in fact, cosplayed her many times, men usually only request her for one reason and that’s the skimpy outfit. Whenever you cosplay as circa 2010 Wonder Woman in pants, they’re decidedly less interested. By now, you’ve learned only to pick your characters based on personal interest.
“Have you ever cosplayed?” you ask.
Unbidden, your gaze slides to the TV. Commercial break. Stifling your twinge of disappointment, you refocus on Mike.
“Nah.” His nose wrinkles, and your stomach sinks further. “I don’t do that stuff.”
“Stuff?”
Hearing your tone, his eyes widen. “I mean, it’s cool for you. I saw your TikToks and you look amazing. I’d just look dumb,” Mike says, attempting a laugh.
Sweetly, you smile. “I don’t know. My ex used to cosplay with me, and no one ever laughed at him.”
Admittedly, this is something of a low blow since your ex-boyfriend is Jimin Park, but either Namjoon didn’t tell him, or Mike doesn’t care. Which – if that’s so, maybe Mike deserves more credit than you gave him.
“Ah.” He nods, taking a sip of his beer. “Have you ever thought about cosplaying as Wonder Woman, though?”
Your smile vanishes. Then again, maybe you’ve given him exactly the right amount of credit.
“I have,” you say. “But more recently, I’ve been cosplaying Dimension 20 characters. It’s kind of niche, but my last character was Sundry Sidney from A Starstruck Odyssey. You know – giant machine gun arm, roller skates and a mechanical eye. Oh, and a ‘fuck erotica ann’ button, of course.”
Mike’s smile freezes. “Why… would you dress like that?”
“Because it’s fun.” Finishing your glass of wine, you toss a few bills on the counter and stand. “Well, it’s been nice meeting you, Mike, but I think we’d be better off as friends. Don’t you agree?”
Even with the answer right there in the question, still he looks flummoxed.
“I…”
“Or acquaintances,” you add, pulling on your pea coat. “Or nothing at all. Whatever you prefer.”
Slinging your purse on your shoulder, you wave at the bartender and start to leave. You only make it several steps before Mike mutters something beneath his breath – loud enough that you hear.
“Stupid,” he mutters. “This is why you don’t date women like her, Mike.”
You come to a stop. Really, you should keep going. Common sense – and Namjoon’s HOA – depend on you being the bigger person and walking out. But your therapist has said you need to work on communicating, even when the message is something the other person won’t like.
Turning around, you tap Mike on the shoulder.
He glances upward, surprised – and then reddens, realizing you heard.
“Yep, I heard,” you say shortly, retracting your hand. “Was your muttering supposed to be secret?”
Mike opens, then closes his mouth, like a fish.
“What did you mean, ‘women like me?’” you demand, folding your arms. “Ones with self-respect? Or hobbies? Women who know more about a subject than you do?”
Behind the counter, the bartender snort-laughs, rising in your esteem despite the whole TV channel thing.
Mike stares at you, stunned. He seems to grow a pair in that moment though, straightening to face you on his stool. “Women with sticks up their asses,” he blurt.
Stifling an eye roll, you lean closer. “Listen, Mike,” you say, placing one hand on the counter. “If you think you can hurt my feelings – think again. Someone broke my heart three months ago, so nothing you say now will remotely compare. Do you really want to know why women like me won’t date you?”
The furrow between his brows deepens, and you take this as a sign to continue. Leaning even closer, you lower your voice.
“It’s because you’re insecure,” you say softly. “Giving someone a compliment and putting yourself down in the same sentence isn’t nice, it’s awkward. Not to mention, you’re sexist,” you add, watching him stiffen. “Telling me – a two-time Comic Con trivia champion – that I wouldn’t know Marvel is wild. Oh, and you’re a snob. Tabletop games are awesome, and cosplay is fun. Have a good night – I paid for your drink.”
With that, you turn around and march out the door to a smattering of applause from your new favorite bartender.

Sunday, 10 December, 2023.
A cold front roared through the area last night bringing us heavy rain and deadly tornado's just North of Nashville. It was much colder for our workouts today, with a breezy 40 degrees that felt like 32.
Thankfully Armando wasn't too hungover and distraught from the Army/Navy game yesterday to lead us in a fun mobility session.
Warmup:
25 Synchronized Pushups with Larry as our leader. The females voices chatting away over on my left were a sure sign that some were faking this warmup.
Strength
Push Press: 5 / 5 / 5 / 5 / 5 70 to 80% For All
3 Second Pause At The TOP Of The 5th Rep Each Set.
Armando=175 Warren G=155 Ed=135 Larry=135 (all) Nathan=125 Dana=115 Coach/Dyer/Elisa/Tim=95 Warren A=65 Jordan/Taylor/Linda/Kayla=55 Emily/Shannon=45 Emma Kate=32 Big Lew=DB's Robert=didn't post because he wasn't the heaviest. Angel/Alicia=did it
WOD
Every 3 Minutes X 7 Rounds
Rest In Time Left-Over
( 155 / 135 / 85 )
1 Barbell............. 1 Weight
12 Deadlifts
9 Hang Power Cleans
6 Push Press
SCORE: Slowest Round
I'm not posting this. Many of you didn't keep track. Many others just guessed. Robert was a DNF so he didn't post anything. It's on What's APP of you care to look.
Cool-Down
Run / Jog / Walk The Arboretum 1.1 Mile Loop
On Each Of The 5 Grey Plastic Benches, Do
15 Supported Inclined Pushups
15 Supported Inclined Air Squats
Easy-Peezy
Note:
The girls always participate in the extra credit Arboretum antics that I put on the board. The guys seldom do, although 3 of us guys did after the 0730 session. I can't explain it, although I have heard that girls get hormonally synchronized for certain activities (Alicia told me), but I'll leave that right there.
Robert's Daughter Taylor came and brought 2 Samford friends with her. The Butler's were having some huge Hoo-rah at 6224 yesterday, and that's why we got to enjoy the presence of the girls. Taylor/Jordan/Emma Kate all were great sports in spite of the weather and Coach calling Jordan "Shorty" and Emma Kate "Bean Pole". They all got nice LHCF jersey's.
Today was Shannon's Birthday. Typically the girls always stage a birthday celebration but they didn't for Shannon. I suspect there is a large degree of envy and jealousy because Shannon looks so hot (new RED yoga-pants today!!) for her age (Armando said "38"), and she is married to the handsomest and strongest drug-free Mexican currently attending LHCF. So there !!
Only 11 more days until the Winter Solstice; after-which our daylight hours slowly get longer. My Daffodils are aware and are already poking their brave little Spring sprouts above ground. Unfortunately for outdoor CrossFitters, warm weather lags significantly behind the return of daylight hours, so we have 3 more months until Spring-Time officially arrives. If you are curious as to the astronomical reasons for the "Warm weather lag", ask Timmy. He will be authoritarian giving you his latest conspiratorial theory including exactly when the oceans will begin to boil.
Anybody who can drag Cherrita back to LHCF will get a renewal of their Lifetime LHCF Membership. Perhaps if I don't declare my undying love every time she comes she won't be scared off again.

Note
I’m prodding you with a huge stick! :D
1. do you know how you want the story to end when you start, or are you just stumbling through the figurative wilderness hoping to find a road?
7. tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote
9. in an ideal world where you’re already super successful and published, would you want to see a tv or movie adaptation of your work? why or why not?
11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
22. describe your writing process from scratch to finish.
40. best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.
44. any writing advice you want to share?
56. five years from now, where do you see yourself as a writer?
70. are you very critical of your own writing? how much do you find yourself editing (either during the writing or after the fact)?
99. was being a writer a dream of yours when you were little? or did it spring up when your older? or is it just a hobby?
I might’ve gotten carried away, whoops^^
Okay, I’m gonna jump around and go out of order cause I’m writing this in between morning errands and throughout a few days when I get chance to sit and breathe :D
99. was being a writer a dream of yours when you were little? or did it spring up when your older? or is it just a hobby? It never was a dream actually! I had no interest in writing for the vast majority of my school years too. It wasn’t until I was ~16 or so and started working on a fanfic, that I realized “ah, this can actually be fun.” Something just kind of clicked for me after that. I started paying more attention to good writing, reading more,  thinking about what made certain stories compelling. I started trying a lot harder in my schoolwork too, and ever since then I’ve done pretty well in classes that required lots of essay writing.
But even then, and even after I started writing The Illusionist, I didn’t really have a passion for it. It was just something I did to wind down. What changed it for me was reading the King Killer Chronicles and The Stormlight Archive. After those books, I found a new wave of inspiration and remember thinking, “I want my writing to be like this,” and ever since then I’ve had a much deeper appreciation for the craft.
70. are you very critical of your own writing? how much do you find yourself editing (either during the writing or after the fact)? Ugh, yeah, I am 😔  Not so much while I’m writing, but immediately after I publish a chapter, I pretty much can’t stand it lol. I consume a lot of really great writing, and all of my friends are highly skilled so my calibration for “Good Writing” is always shifting, and after I finish a new book or fic, the bar always seems to be raised. And that is a great thing! I can always be better. I can always learn something new, but by nature of who I am, I guess, I am hyper aware of my weaknesses.
22. describe your writing process from scratch to finish. Talk to myself about my fic. Write down only half the ideas I brought up but  immediately forget half of those anyway. Sit down with the word processor. Write a few sentences. Agonize over those few sentences. Write a few more. Write a paragraph. Go back to the first few sentences and change the syntax, then change it back to the way it was before. Write a few more paragraphs, maybe a page. Go back to the first paragraph and edit if 5 more times. Step away. Come back at 11:00 PM on a Tuesday and write until 2:00 AM. Laugh maniacally cause none of what I’ve written was in my original notes. Read it once. Publish the chapter. Make enough edits once it’s already posted that it’s borderline a different chapter when the next person comes to read it. Success :D
1. do you know how you want the story to end when you start, or are you just stumbling through the figurative wilderness hoping to find a road?Omg, I'm really trying to take a more planned approach with Syl's story, but with the Illusionist, absolutely not. I mean... that story is nearing 600k words. I very clearly had no idea what I was doing. I find it along the way but there is a lot of meandering :p
7. tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote It was a modern girl in Skyrim fic actually and I wrote it maybe ten years ago?? Omg throwback. IIRC, the reason why she was brought to Nirn was some big joke by the daedra. She and the Dragonborn were the champions of Sheogorath and Sanguine respectively, but I don't really remember much about the protagonist beside her being absolutely useless 😭 The DB on the other hand was a hedonistic asshole who did whatever he wanted (assassin, thief, womanizer etc.) and had no desire to save Skyrim. Oh and at some point he became a vampire? And Meeko was there too... The main story revolved around her doing various quests to learn the necessary skills to survive in Skyrim on her own. She was also trying to convince the DB to save the world while slowly losing her mind to Sheogorath's madness. It was quite fun. Not very well-written, but very fun. 9. in an ideal world where you’re already super successful and published, would you want to see a tv or movie adaptation of your work? why or why not? For my fanfics??? I don't think the world needs to see those XD If I ever follow through with my original story ideas, however, then yeah. That would be great, but mostly for the shmoney and the freedom shmoney would grant me.
11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general? I do a fair bit a research. If I find myself questioning the veracity of what I’ve written, I’ll look it up to confirm or spend a an hour or so reading how to make it more accurate. Mostly for combat stuff and TES lore surrounding the Daedra and magic. Anytime I make someone an “expert” in a field, like Lucien with his lyre or Raminus and his rocks, I do extra research cause on the off chance a musician or a geologist stop by, I don’t want to sound like a goober speaking out my rump.
40. best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten. Oooh, this is tough, but something along the lines of “write less, not more.” It’s super pertinent to me at the moment while I edit old chapters. Also a writing friend of mine has mentioned that in one of Brandon Sanderson’s lectures on storytelling, he says our instincts will usually tell us to write far more navel gazing than necessary. I’m trimming out a lot of extraneous material and the chapters are feeling a lot smoother.
44. any writing advice you want to share? This might be controversial, but I honestly think it’s fine to compare your writing to others as long as you approach it with a critical eye. How else are you going to get better unless you read examples of writing that you think are better and also examples that you think are worse? What works in their writing? What doesn’t? What’s moving? What’s distracting? I know there is that saying “Comparison Is the Thief of Joy” and yeah, sometimes it will cause grief but there will always be people in the world who are smarter, more skilled, more successful than you currently are, and if you can’t take inspiration from them instead of being envious, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Hot takes.
56. five years from now, where do you see yourself as a writer? Oh lort. Well, hopefully I’ll have published all the manuscripts from my dissertation and I won’t still be working on The Illusionist 😂 I’d really like to be at least wrist deep in an original novel too (which I still have not started writing beyond outlines). I think that would be a lot of fun, but I also am super fond of the community I’ve found for fanfic. Maybe TES VI will be out, or I’ll have found a new fandom to write fanfic for. Maybe I’ll branch out in my genres, write some crime thriller or something :D
Thank you for the prodding. Sorry I take so long. Not been on the tumbly too often as of late <3

End of the first week!
Saturday Jan 28th:
Emma, Ari, and I hustled to the Duomo at 12:45, so we could climb the 463 steps to the top of the dome. It was a great view of the city!
Tumblr media
View of Florence and the bell tower from the Duomo.
Later, we went to the Mercato Centrale lunch. There are many vendors for lunch on the second floor, and fresh produce and meat on the first. I ordered steamed pork dumplings, which they called ravioli and I think that is so fun!
Tumblr media
Gli ravioli di maiale al vapore (steamed pork dumplings).
After lunch, we visited the Duomo Museum, which is neat because it has some originals from the Duomo that were removed for preservation. Some of the art had already been weathered, and the faces of the statues were very blurry. We also went inside the Cathedral, and then Emma and I went into the ruins below.
For dinner, the four of us roommates ate nearby at La Grotta di Leo. I ordered the four-cheese pizza and ate the whole thing. We spent around 2.5 hours at dinner too, which was great! We lived as the Italians do. Our waiter was super kind. He helped us with our Italian and answered all our questions.
Sunday Jan 29th:
Lydia, Emma, and I explored two stores, tutto a cento (dollar store) and dmail. Dmail has an array of house and kitchen items, and the dollar store was so fun with all the school supplies, candy, and organization stuff.
On our walk back to our apartment, we stopped at Grocce’s bar for an espresso and blueberry muffin. A very tiny and cute place not too far from us.
Tumblr media
Finally, we met the last roomie! Kailey arrived at 2 pm from Rome.
Lydia, Emma, and I went on the SAI VIVA experience hike to Piazzale Michelangelo. VIVA experiences are included in the program cost and are a great way to meet other SAI students and participate in activities related to Italian culture. We went to Vivaldi Gelateria first, which we were told is very authentic. I ordered strawberry gelato!
Then we hiked up to Piazzale Michelangelo for an amazing view, especially since it was about 4 pm and golden hour. It’s a great free activity in Florence, and I would love to go back at night to see the city’s lights.
Tumblr media
Lastly, all five of us had dinner at Gustapizza. We had delicious woodfired pizza. The best pizza I have tried so far. We all would go back. The restaurant is so popular that we made sure to get in line before they opened at 7 pm.
Tumblr media
Pesto pizza with burrata cheese in the center!
Monday Jan 30th:
Ari, Emma, and I climbed the bell tower and went into the Baptistery. The steps up the bell tower were much harder, maybe because we were sore from the Duomo steps two days before. But the view at the top was worth it, and I liked it even better because we could see the Duomo.
Tumblr media
The view of the Duomo from the bell tower.
Next, the three of us walked to Conad City for groceries. It's the closest thing you’ll find to a big supermarket as we have in the US. The prices are great too; boxes of pasta are only 0.75 euros.
Later, Emma and I walked to the FUA campus to see where our classes are for the next three weeks! Since we were close to the SAI office, we signed up for VIVA experiences. I signed up for Florentine gold leafing and paper marbling.
To end the night, Lydia and Ari made us homemade pasta with red sauce, grilled chicken, and salad, our first home-cooked dinner.
These days were the last days before class begins on Tuesday! In my next post I will update how my first few days of the semester went!
Ci vediamo!!

VALLEY DEL AZAHAR - J2 AU

Nestled in the hills and slopes below the Topatopa mountains in Ventura, California, lies the two-hundred-acre farm, Valley del Azahar.
Reluctantly returning to the home he left eighteen years ago, Jared must confront his past to avoid a future he’s tried to escape his whole life... becoming his father.
Also, saving his failing marriage would be great.
FYI he and Jensen are separated, not divorced.
This story is not a WIP. It's finished but will be released chapter by chapter.

Thursday 9 July 1835
7 50
11 ¾
no kiss rain in the night - fine and F59 ½° at 8 35 am - out till breakfast at 9 ¼ set Robert Schofield and his man to make a new turning place for George Pickells (coal-pit stuff from Walker pit)  - from about 10 to near 11 talking to Marian - then out with Mr Harper till 1 - explained on the spot about the engine pit culvert - the clerk of the works (Mr Husband) to look after it - examined the 2 old bridges over the brook - both will be wanted - we had 1st settled about the approach bridge - Mr H- in difficulty about it all yesterday afternoon - it could not well be so high up as Mr Gray wanted it without a great deal of cutting away - decided instantly to have it a little lower down the glen as Mr H- advised and as I myself always thought it should be - more building to do - but the road over the brook would nor do 12 instead of 14ft. wide and altogether the cost would be about the same -  Booth not very quick at comprehending things - Brian Helm the cleverest - Dr Camidge, on seeing the plan of the Casino (great room) said there should be an anteroom - yes! but it could not be had without too great sacrifices - the plan to remain as it is - on walking over the ground Mr. H- thinks one open drain from the lane, or lake, to the Engine pit, may be managed - Husband to level and set it out -wrote the above of today - then sat with A- at and after her luncheon till saw her off on the pony to Cliff hill at 2 ¾ - then out - had Joseph Mann and John Booth turning the new run of excellent water (about one inch bore pipe) down the bottom of the garden and thence under my walk to the brook - had Mr. Parker between 4 and 5 till 6  - staid to see A- said I should want to borrow £4500 more - on bond - he said it was a large sum on bond - I reckoned
SH:7/ML/E/18/0058
my navigation dividend (£344 per annum) saying I should leave that in his hand to pay the interest and did not mind borrowing any sums the total interest of which did not exceed that income - I could provide for my aunt and for the remainder due for Wilkinson’s coal and then supposing me to borrow
£4500 at 4p.c. = 180.
1834. Mr. Parker 600 at 4 ¼ ditto = 25.10.0
Mr. Wainhouse 8 January 1835 1000 at 4 ¼ ditto = 42.10.0
Mr. Fergurson trust money £2000 at 4 ditto = 80.0.0
328.0.0   344= 16.
but said I should like get rid of my navigation stock if I could sell at £400 a good deal of talk about the concern - Mr. Clay of Rastrick thinks it quite a speculation - Mr. Aldham of Leeds a likely man to purchase - perhaps also Mr. Clay and ditto Mr. Wainhouse Mr. P- might offer 4 or 5 shares at 400 guineas -always something to abate and I would take £400 - under any circumstances would rather have real property than personalty .:. should be glad to vest navigation stock at Northgate besides I myself tho’ not agreeing in the opinions of Mr. Clay as to the proper mode of management - (much more agreeing with Mr. Aldham) yet would be glad to back out of a property I thought uncertain - Mr. P- sorry to find me of that opinion - begged him not to name it - said I would keep his £600 [at] last - proposed that instead of paying off his father’s £250, as mentioned at any time of getting it, that I should take £150 more to make up £1000 between father and son - the six hundred is on bond - the £400 more is to be on note of hand - to call at the office on Saturday morning to hear about the navigation shares and to pay his bill tho’ left the latter to be inferred - rather than said it - dinner at 6 ½ - sometime with my father and Marian - I had been sometime with Marian both immediately after breakfast and between 2 and 3 pm while with A- at her luncheon fixed for us to go to York on Monday and return on Wednesday - offered to take Marian as far as York she intending to go to Market Weighton on Tuesday - she gladly accepted the offer - sent off by George this evening  my letter to ‘Mr Bewsher, Baggage Warehouse, customs, London post paid’ - just looked into the newspaper - tea at 9 - 20 minutes with my aunt till 10 - wrote the last 27 lines till 10 25 - dull day - no drought for the hay - threatening rain all the day from about 10 am but held off till between 2 and 3 then a little rain and much drizzling and damp and disagreeable afternoon and evening - F62° now at 10 40 pm

THE HOLY DOSE
“FIRE IN THE HOLE!”
:: MONDAY, OCTOBER 09, 2006 ::
Welcome to The Holy Dose. This is our youth center for psychedelic thought, music, films, comics, and comedy. A cosmic brothel for a new generation of young old-timers. Pull up a chair.

Wo
Until I moved into the Old Fourth Ward, I had no idea how realistic the whole Jehova's Witness stereotype is. These two old ladies, "Wo" and "?" (I think the other one gave up her name in honor of the War on Terror or Lent or something...she's just kinda like Wo's henchman anyway) come by the house every couple days or so to bring me or Katie a crazy pamphlet about how "Television is God's way of telling us to support our troops" or that "Carjacking is the devil's way of preventing us from living forever" or that "Scientists are working round the clock on a cure for sin". You have to talk to them for about a half an hour just to tell them you don't have time to talk to them. The bummer is that you have to, like, "break up with them" every week just to close the door. Still, every week they come by to check and see if all of the sudden those crazyass booklets are gonna convert us. Actually, Wo seems like she'd be a pretty cool sassy black principal on a Fox teen drama if it wasn't for all the religious telemarketing. At least the booklets are free; the Krishnas try to charge you for 'em! Talk about bad karma!

How to Start a New Cold War
From Wiki How:
Cold Wars can be a fun and profitable way to pass the time. Starting one is easier than you think! It's also a great way to teach little ones about responsibility and the value of an obvious enemy.
Things you'll need:
a fireplace * sandwich * compass * yamulke * 4 coyotes * #2 pencil * plutonium ( I really hope they named that shit after the Roman god and not the ex-planet! Somebody's gettin' fired!) * 7 hamburgers * a cabbage patch * xavier roberts * cobblestone road * 20 assorted hats * a leather sword * lice
HOW:
1. Determine what type of enemy you want all action movies to feature for the next ten years.
2. Become a nuclear superpower.
3. Make a trailer for your bicycle.
4. Brew your own beer.
5. Make Arnold Schwarzenegger the biggest movie star.
6. Attack your enemy's ideology.
7. Yakov Smirnoff.
8. KGB spies stole this step.
9. Nikolai Volkoff.
10. Sgt. Slaughter.
11. Support the troops.
12. Don't actually fight a military war.
13. Carry the beer to the party on your bike trailer.
14. Insider trading.
15. You did it!

Suits for Swim-A-Thon
We still have several families who have not informed me of the suit type and/or size their swimmer needs. If you are one of those families there should be another email in your inbox. I can not place the order until I have received this information from everyone.
All Group 3 male swimmers will receive a brief.  Any Group 1 or Group 2 male swimmer will receive a jammer unless you let me know they would like a brief.  If you have a female swimmer they have one of three options.
Sprintback.  This one has larger back straps.  Our younger swimmers have preferred this one.
Xback. This one has thinner shoulder straps.
Flashback. This one also has thinner shoulder straps and more revealing lower back.
If you click on any of the links you will be able to see pics of the suits to help determine which suit is best for your athlete.
ELK Rudolph Romp/December 1-3/Elkhart Aquatic Center
The deadline for this meet is Sunday November 12.
Help Wanted
We are still looking for one more coach for our Group 1 this season at Riley.  If you know of anyone who might be interested have them contact me at [email protected]
Team Apparel
The local swim shop in town is Milinko’s Scuba & Swim (formerly Just Add H2O).  This is a great place to find a good practice suit or pick up a spare pair of goggles.
We are also partnered with A3 Performance.  You can purchase a logoed team suit directly from this site (these will once again be offered as prizes for raising enough money during our Swim-A-Thon). Here is the link to the A3 Team Store. When your swimmer is old enough to purchase a tech suit (13 and over) this company is who I recommend purchasing from.
USA Swimming Memberships/Birth Certificates
All athletes need to complete the USA Swimming Registration.  This should be a priority for all of our families.  I will be going through our roster this week.  Any athlete that is found not to be registered with USA Swimming will not be allowed to practice.
Here is a link to the document with instructions on how to register with USA-S.  A few of our members have had trouble adding their swimmers once they created their own account.  If you have trouble after creating a parent account, try using this link. If your swimmer qualifies for the Outreach Membership (free/reduced lunch at their school) click on this link.  Remember, if you use this link you will need to provide documentation to me that your athlete qualifies.
If your athlete has never competed in a meet for SBSC (or another USA Swimming club) you will need to send me a copy of their birth certificate.  The preferred way is to electronically send a pdf.  If that is not possible, please email a
USA Swimming Guidelines - MAAPP/Safe Sport
USA Swimming issued a directive with regards to electronic communication and social media contact between coaches and athletes.  Most of what is being implemented is common sense and falls in line with our club's policies.  One new requirement we will need to adhere to is how your minor child communicates with all coaches.  For several years we have asked swimmers in Group 2 and Group 3 to text/email their coach if they would be missing practice.  Moving forward, swimmers will be instructed to include a parent on all communication with me or any of our coaches.

If you are the parent of a Group 2 or Group 3 swimmer, and have never sent me a text before, please text me so I have your contact info in my phone.  This way if I need to contact your swimmer about missing practice I can be sure to include you.  My cell phone number is 574-276-6057.
I encourage all parents and swimmers to read the full policy.  We are required to keep this policy on our website, here is the link.
Fall and Winter Meet Schedule/Dates of Meet/Location/Deadline to commit
Below is our fall/winter meet schedule. The first date listed is the day(s) of the meet and the second date is the deadline to commit.
Swimmers wanting to compete will need to commit to those meets.  The deadlines are based on deadlines that were set in previous years. They may change once the meet hosts posts the meet information.  When committing to multiple day meets, if the option to select the days you want is not available, leave a message in the notes section stating the specific days you would like to attend.
Meets marked with an * require swimmers to meet minimum time standards.  All pool locations can be found on our website under the "Pools" tab.

Best Time to Post on TikTok TikTok is a social media platform that allows users to create and share short videos. With over 1 billion active users, TikTok is a great way to connect with your audience and grow your brand. One of the most important factors in determining the success of your TikTok posts is the time you post them. If you post at a time when your audience is most active, you're more likely to get more views and engagement. So, what is the best time to post on TikTok? There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best time to post will vary depending on your audience and your content. However, some general guidelines include: Post during peak times. According to a study by Influencer Marketing Hub, the best times to post on TikTok are Tuesday at 9 a.m., Thursday at 12 a.m., and Friday at 5 a.m. (EST). However, you may find that different times work better for your audience. Post when your audience is most likely to be online. If your audience is mostly young people, for example, you might want to post in the afternoon or evening. Post when there is less competition. Avoid posting at times when other popular accounts are also posting, as this will make it harder for your videos to be seen. Experiment and find what works best for you. The best way to find the best time to post on TikTok is to experiment and see what gets the best results. Try posting at different times of day and on different days of the week, and track your results to see what works best for you. Here's a step-by-step look at how to make the most of your time on TikTok. Step 1: Get to Know the TikTok System First, it's important to understand how TikTok decides which videos to show to people. This helps you know how to plan your posts better. Let's start with a simple chart that explains this process: Step 2: Best Times to Post Videos Worldwide Now, let's figure out the best times to post your videos on TikTok if you want to reach people all over the world. Here are some tips to help you do that: Pick Topics People Care About Choose subjects that are trendy and that your viewers will find interesting. Use popular hashtags and join in on current challenges to reach more people. Talk to Your Audience Build a strong bond with your viewers by talking to them often. Answer their comments, hold Q&A sessions, and work with well-known TikTokers to grow your channel. High-Quality Videos Always share videos that look and sound great. Use good-quality pictures and create interesting stories to keep your viewers watching. Step 4: Keep Learning and Getting Better Lastly, always try to improve your TikTok strategy. Here’s how you can do this: Use TikTok's Tools to Learn TikTok has tools that help you understand your viewers better. Use them to learn what your audience likes and how to make content they will enjoy. Be Ready to Change Your Plans Sometimes, you need to change your strategy to do better. Test different kinds of videos and post at different times to find w
hat works best. Here are some additional tips for getting the most out of your TikTok posts: Create high-quality content. Your videos should be well-made and engaging so that people will want to watch them and share them. Use relevant hashtags. Hashtags are a great way to get your videos seen by more people. When you use relevant hashtags, your videos will show up in search results for those hashtags. Promote your videos. Share your videos on other social media platforms and encourage your friends and followers to watch and share them. By following these tips, you can increase your chances of success on TikTok. So get out there and start posting! In addition to the above, here are some other things to consider when choosing the best time to post on TikTok: Your target audience's age and location. The type of content you're posting. The trends that are popular on TikTok at the moment. Your own schedule and availability. It's also important to remember that the best time to post on TikTok can change over time. So it's important to experiment and track your results to see what works best for you.
