Okay i just realized this part of the lab is where the professors kept their treasures, you can see from the case on the right their accolades and trophies. The equations i would assume to be the leading solution to the time machine working and whatnot (based on the diagrams that were drawn)
but you can also see arven's and mabosstiff's baby pictures framed on the board,,,
arven and his mabosstiff was the professors greatest treasure
Im IN shambles
I can definitely see it as "do it for him" bc of this dialogue,, somewhere along the road they were just too obsessed with making it happen that they ended up ignoring arven and it h u r t s.
I love how arven —who has been introduced as a somewhat douche —has this bright colourful Rotom case that literally has flowers and a flabebe on it
And yet Nemona —who has been introduced as someone who’s meant to be your best friend/rival and someone who is full of joy and has a seemingly endless amount of energy —has the solid colour phone case and it’s literally just plain black with no pattern’s whatsoever
(have seen some really cool paradox pokemon designs floating around and wanted to try imagining one myself ;w;)
please say hello to Iron Web, a future paradox Galvantula!
a little more info under the cut:
- was originally going to make this a bug/fire type but then i decided to make up a dex entry for it and wanted to make a train reference (yes yes bc of emmet ok ok i’ll be honest 😭)... and since thinking future and high-speed/bullet trains that are powered by electricity... well, electric/fire
- (plus electric/fire needs more rep, i think rotom heat is still the only mon with that type combo?)
- i didn’t draw it out here, but this thing is also kinda dangerous??? 😳 the appendages(?) coming out from its mouth area have blades that expand out when it’s provoked
- also not to mention the boosters on its back, boosters with fire
- this thing is lightning fast (heh heh)
- will use its boosters for additional speed but will also quickly approach you with those robotic spider legs
- oh and also probably a little bit larger than an actual galvantula
Something I find really ironic about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is how, when the games were initially released, a majority of the audience ragged on them (fairly) for being all buggy and rushed; it was obvious that, at the time, Game Freak cut corners in order to get the games released at the promised date.
And then the updates/patches came out, and then the DLCs... And you know what? Honestly? Pokémon Violet has taken Moon's place of my favorite Pokémon games.
You may be wondering why and my answer is simple: the characters- specifically, our "rivals". They have so much personality and depth to them, it's hard not to fall in love with their stories, and those stories had me feeling genuine sympathy for them.
Listening to Arven, Penny, and Nemona's back and forth on our Area Zero trip was just so... endearing, you know? Like it felt like I was listening to real people have a conversation.
Don't even get me started on Kieran and how fascinating and heartbreaking his arc was... ouuughhh my boy. My baby boy. I adore him!!
TL;DR: In my opinion, the character writing in SV was really well done, and I hope it continues improving in the next Pokémon game(s).
P.S. Have two memes because I was having a really hard time figuring out which one was funnier.
I get that a lot of people hate Arven because he's so spiteful towards Koraidon/Miraidon, but that's only really fair to say in the early game. The end of the Path Of Legends really sheds a light onto why he might be so bitchy towards the Pokemon that makes him sympathetic.
If you remember from the end of the Path of Legends, he explained that his parents (Professor Sada & Toro) are deadbeats who favored their research over raising him. The legendary was in their possession before, and now it's in yours. The professor puts a lot of energy into that Pokemon. Arven is most likely as spiteful as he is because his parents care more about that fuckin dog dragon motorcycle thing than they ever cared about him.
Sure, he was outrageously bitchy at the start of the game, but remember this is a 18-20(??) year old man who was neglected in favor of Pokemon now having to watch you care for one of the Pokemon that he was neglected in favor of. That's kinda fucked up, Game Freak.
