for the record i voted for cecil 👁️ in true tumblr veteran fashion it reminded me of wearing my glow-in-the-dark "all hail the glow cloud" t-shirt to class in junior year. i think cecil winning the gold is poetic justice after wtnv got stiffed by dashcon almost a decade ago. i may not have listened to any wtnv in many years but a small part of me will always be waiting for the bus in the rain in the rain wait waiting for the bus in the rain

I'm hoping you could give me some recommendations for podcasts that have accompanied video? I have aphantasia, so processing audio is pretty much out unless there's a visual element as well.

I have to be honest with you, Anon, I wasn't even aware that was a thing that existed, podcasts with video. I struggle to watch video at the best of times because I find it extremely difficult to focus on just video and when it's informative I tend to miss stuff because my attention drifts (most tv I watch, I'm also playing a game on my phone or doing something with my hands). The only podcasts I've ever encountered or sought out are audio only, so that I can be doing other things while I listen.

I do have a post going up sometime today about the podcasts I listen to but as far as I know none of them have a video component, or if they do it's like, a tiktok the hosts have that isn't directly related to specific episodes. One or two podcasts do sometimes film their sessions, but it's just footage of the hosts talking, it's not like, pictures of what they're talking about.

Sidebar for my own edification, I had to google aphantasia and I have questions. Do people...normally create images in their mind when listening to podcasts? I don't, I don't imagine visuals when listening to audio even if it's an audiobook. That feels super weird to imagine doing, like...I can't see why one would, when you could be doing other things. But I also don't have a problem with processing audio, so...IDK.

Finally caught up on @ameliapodcast

Can safely say it is my new favorite podcast :)

I love all of the characters, all of the stories are interesting, and I find myself longing for more. With every answered question comes a dozen unanswered ones, questions I didn't know I *could* have...

If you haven't listened, and you love archive or voicemail based podcasts, or audio dramedy in general, you absolutely *must* give The Amelia Project a try. I can't recommend it enough, and I would be honored if anyone listens for the first time and yells at me about it. I love genuine excitement about new-to-you media and I'd love to share this gem of a podcast with someone :)

The trailer does a much better job of explaining the premise than I ever could, so hop on your favorite podcatcher and listen to it, if you're interested!!

It's something trans people who transition as adults, after one or more of their parents has passed, have to deal with and can't really ever reconcile. On top of that, there are some other very complicated issues I have to deal with concerning this topic. I cried while writing it, I cried while recording it. I hope it helps some of you out there not feel so alone.

I really enjoy YMRT but parts of the new season are pretty :/ so far

#I’m referring to the podcast about Hollywood’s first century btw #I think the host is very knowledgeable about Hollywood history and the material is interesting #but the way she described Andrea Dworkin versus her (not unalloyed to be clear) praise #Camille paglia left a very bad taste in my mouth #i honestly think some of it stems from the fact that Paglia looks better on camera which is absolutely bizarre #also very bad audio issues—girl get Rian Johnson to give you some of that Knives Out money for a better sound engineer!

right. I have this recurring issue that basically I listen to horror podcasts and then get scared and can’t sleep. can anyone recommend me some very fluffy audio only pieces of media? it doesn’t have to be fluffy necessarily it just has to not make me scared. when I am already anxious I have issues with the smallest things increasing that anxiety. tv shows and podcasts that generally do not bother me make my life incredibly difficult. like dr who and sherlock and wtnv. never have any problems with these when generally calm but when i’m already anxious I can’t cope with them. it’s like when i’m scared I automatically start interpreting any stimuli around me as threats. like things that normally just build casual tension start making me panic about the likelihood of death at me just sleeping in my bed.

tl;dr: calm/fluffy/fun/romantic/comedic pieces of audio only media for me to enjoy when I can’t leave the house with anxiety because of my both love and extremely low tolerance for horror?

we finally caught up on WTNV

#this is the first and only time we've ever been caught up on it. we've been listening since 2019 or so #most of how we caught up starting from 203 was by reading the transcripts and listening to portions of audio #we weren't able to handle doing the full audio episodes #it's. uh. i need some time to think about things. since we've started engaging more in fandom spaces #even if all we're doing is reblogging fanart and all that #i've been having a harder time openly being a fictive. and i always feel strange talking to singlets that are fans of my source #i feel scared that my presence is going to make them uncomfortable to engage in media. that i'm doing something wrong by existing nearby #i don't want to deprive anyone of anything they enjoy. i don't want people to feel awkward talking to me because. well.#i'm blorbo from their podcasts or whatever. i want to be recognized as a person. just a person who happens to also be a fictional character #i feel bad reblogging things from people who are into my source and tagging it as Cecil's tag even if its unrelated to WTNV #because i don't want them to feel like i'm imposing myself and my strangeness on them. and i don't want to give them the same media issues #that we deal with. a lot of our media issues comes from psychosis yes but a part of it is also from being fictives and knowing about them #like i know so fully well that i'm extremely weird and not in the good way. that most people don't and won't believe me about myself #and i don't want to weird them out. i'm terrified TERRIFIED of accidentally letting a WTNV fanartist find out that i'm Cecil and #getting blocked for being some crazy weirdo or whatever. i just. it's a big worry i guess is what there is to say #i want to talk to people and i want to be myself but i think on some level i wish that my self was something else #like. i don't want people to feel like they can't treat fiction as fiction just because i exist #i don't want them to shy away from discussing character's traumas or putting them in weird AUs or whatever #do whatever the hell you want with it my presence shouldn't scare you off from it #i'm kind of repeating myself at this point so i'm gonna stop so. yeah #if you read this full thing we'd appreciate a like on this if that's okay just for paranoia reasons #rambling #Cecil's tag
