Cody and Obi Wan feel absolutely perfect for each other imo.

I wholeheartedly understand the hesitancy some people have about the difference in ranks (I have so many thoughts about this tbh) but the main thing I associate with Codywan is how healthy they feel. They might exist in tumultuous circumstances however they themselves work incredibly well together. They have such a good understanding of each other to the point they don’t even have to speak sometimes because they just intuitively understand what the other person is trying to say. It’s definitely a side effect of the war but it’s also reflective of them as people in general. They are very similar in a lot of ways and very different too but I think their similarities fall in the places that really count.

There’s their communication. Yes, Obi Wan is far more melodramatic in the way he presents it sometimes, but when it comes down to it, they’ll both say what needs to be said because it’s a necessity in their line of work.

I think they have similar worries and doubts too. Obi Wan’s have been explored incessantly (and I eat it up every time) but Cody having similar problems with self doubt makes sense to me as well. To preface, he is not a child and I hate when people act like he is to try and make Obi Wan look bad. The clones just age differently and Cody’s a grown adult. With that in mind though, his lack of life experience definitely leaves room for him to doubt himself. He was basically thrown into a war and expected to lead. I’d feel pretty overwhelmed if I were him. That’s one area Obi Wan can help with because if he’s one thing, it’s experienced. Just as Cody provides a sort of stability for Obi Wan, giving him less reason to fall back into old habits where he would feel insecure about his place in the Jedi Order. There’s a very even exchange of care and support between them.

There’s also the fact that their fates seem intertwined. The clones were essentially doomed to die at the same time as the Jedi. They were always viewed as expendable but Order 66 signalled the countdown to the end of their intended purpose and their eventual eradication, something canon doesn’t focus on nearly as much as I’d like. Cody pretty much lost his family at the same time Obi Wan lost his and it was neither of their faults. It doesn’t matter that the clones were sentient beings equal to any other person in terms of intelligence. It doesn’t matter that they as individuals evolved way past what they were created to do. It doesn’t matter that they were more similar to a completely new species of people with a budding culture and way of life which could have evolved into something more structured if they only had more time, than to an army of mindless droids which they were constantly compared to. None of that mattered to the empire because nothing that delicate and precious ever matters to any kind of empire. The ancient, beautiful lifestyle of the Jedi and the newborn customs of the clones which they were never given the freedom to fully explore were woven together from the second Jango Fett allowed the Kaminoans to use his DNA. Cody and Obi Wan are left on either side, both having lost something different but joined forever by feeling like ghosts of a different time who were left behind to haunt the corners of the galaxy they no longer have a place in.

I could go on and on about them (and I frequently do) but at their core, they are such an interesting ship because they have wildly different personalities and have different problems the other won’t experience but they seem so compatible regardless. They may experience issues with each other (as anyone in any kind of relationship does) but both possess the tools to deal with them and are united in their grief for their old lives which they can never get back post-order 66. They work romantically, but these traits don’t go away if you only view them as friends or even just people who work together. They work on every level but romantically is the most fun lmao.

When I think about Gale and Mystra, I'm reminded of the Greek myth of the moon goddess who fell in love with a shepherd and asked Zeus to place him in an enchanted sleep, so that he would never change. So he would be beautiful and hers forever.

There are different versions of the myth, but this is the one I knew as a kid - and it always made me so fucking sad. And now I see why, because Selene loves Endymion - and her love takes his life from him. A god could not love Endymion as a mortal loves a mortal; she wants his presence to gaze on, to soak in, his body to hold. Perhaps he's a balm to her immortal existence; perhaps his beauty is an inspiration to her - but she does not want him, not all of him, not really. She doesn't want his sheep flock, the evenings where his fingers burn from the cold. She doesn't want his voice, or the lines and experience he'll gather as he ages. She doesn't want to live a life alongisde his.

Selene would say she loves Endymion, and perhaps, yes, Mystra would say she loved Gale. But how can a god love a mortal in a way that a mortal can recognise as love? You soak up his company, you laugh with him, you value his mind and his talent and his deftness with words. His presence is a spot of bright difference in your endless existence. But will you change with him? Will you be vulnerable with him? Will you look him in the eye, as an equal? Will you stroke his cat and put a blanket over his shoulder when he falls asleep reading, make soup for him when he's sick? Would you love him as a person, not a treasure? You can't.

Gale wanted to be loved with a devotion to match his own. Mystra wanted him to live in the enchanted sleep of being hers, something to smile at and hold but never, never to live beside. And she knew - she must have known - how unequal their desires were. She kept him anyway, until she didn't. Until he woke up.

In Sagau I imagined the statues of the creator to have an aura around it. Like it changes depending on their mood. so sometimes people will visit the statues to feel closer to the creator or to talk to the statue. It would be customary to visit the statues when one is really happy to share their happiness with the creator. Which would cause little bursts of happiness within the creators everyday life.

I just thought it was a sweet headcanon to share! I hope you have a good day!

idk if yall are into the ship, but the worldbuilding in this zhongli/childe fic goes so hard, and this kinda reminded me of how the author descibed genuine/"filling" offerings to the gods being like, less of a business transaction and more of a, "i got so happy seeing all the flowers i handmade a flower crown just to share it with you!" and THATS what you give a god to give them a satisfying meal

Gortash acting as an enabler for The Dark Urge is so interesting imo. I can easily see redeemed DU feeling extremely betrayed and angry by it given that they now have a chance to contemplate their past self’s situation. They easily could accuse him like “you say you were my ‘nearest and dearest’ but you never saw how much I suffered? Or did you just not care because my misery advanced your (our) goals? You never wanted to help me? You could have stopped me.” At this point in the story, DU’s come to understand friendship in a way his past self never could have and Gortash’s previous inaction is a betrayal of those values. If he never helped them, then Gortash never truly saw the real them nor understood them.

In my personal headcanon (and somewhat supported by canon imo), I think Gortash tried to helped DU in his own “Gort” way. Aka promising that they’d one day rule as “Gods” which is essentially a promise to DU that they’ll rise above Bhaal or be free of his influence (as others have previously pointed out). However, I don’t believe Gortash has the emotional capacity to help DU in the way they needed. He doesn’t understand it or he might even be afraid to hit that particular nerve. He liked the routine they fell into, so why change it? It is also definitely pragmatic. The Dark Urge’s condition advances their plans. Gortash puts progress and the plan above all else even if it hurts loved ones. He rationalizes his inaction with cold logic, weighing the pros and cons of his intervention. Therefore, I don’t believe it’s necessarily malicious enabling. Gortash acts with the idea of pursuing whatever is more “comfortable” for him personally and their joint plan.

From my personal experience, this type of enabling is pretty common (at least in my irl situations). They don’t know how to act and are afraid to confront their loved one, so they do nothing. It’s “easier” to do nothing. Definitely would like to write something for it at some point because I feel like this would be a key tension point in their post-tadpole relationship (or lack of). Maybe even pre-tadpole where the Dark Urge just quietly endured but desperately hoped Enver would say or do something to save them, but he never did.
