Hangster kid fic AU somehow based on my fav (childhood) rom-com, Just Love Me (pol. Tylko mnie kochaj, 2006) - this has been in my drafts for ages because I had so much trouble rewording the plot from Polish to English but let's leave it as it is...

Jake, who is a successful naval aviator about to be promoted, is selected for special training in North Island, where he sees Bradley, his ex casual fling from around 5-6 years ago, still in flight school. Their paths had parted when Jake had started trying hard for his career to go forward and Bradley suddenly withdrew from his completely, eventually disappearing. He is now working a boring assistant flight instructor position in North Island and has very low career prospects compared to Jake. Jake pretends he doesn't know him.

Jake's carefully planned life changes when someone knocks on his door and he opens them to find a little girl on his doorstep, Mitch, telling him she's his daughter and refusing to say anything else about her life

Jake has no other choice but to take care of her while trying to find her other parent

(This is obviously his daughter that came to be from the fling he and Bradley had years ago, duh, and she comes into his life telling him to "Just love her". Mav might or might not interfere in the shenanigans.)
