Dream A Little Dream of Me
Beetlejuice x reader
The fic has everything! We got angst, we got fluff, and we got a smidge of PG-13 smut just for you.
My favorite headcanon (That I thought of) is that Beetlejuice loves being sung to, just turns our little demon to mush. This song is one of my favorites. An intruder comes into reader’s home and our bugman is there to put the fear of God/Satan in him.
special thanks to @go-commander-kim for holding my hand through this. As well as @beej-juicy for giving me a list of awesome headcanons that kindled this fic right here.
On with the show!
You were in the shower, while he went into sneak up on you to scare you once you got out (because, water no) and then he heard you sing. He sat in the sink waiting for you to shut the water off so he can do the Psycho scene and try to scare you. Until he heard it.
…stars shining bright above you, night breezes seem to whisper “I love you”, birds singing in the sycamore tree…dream a little dream of me…
The sound melted him a little, letting the words pour over his ears and drip into his heart if he did not know any better, it felt like, medicine.
Say night-ie night and kiss me, just hold me tight and tell me you miss me…
You hummed the rest of the verse as you shut off the water and wrapped yourself in the towel. Pushing back the curtain and jumping at the demon purring contently with his eyes closed in your bathroom sink, his hair a soft pink.
“What the holy crisp hell?!” You snapped jumping out of your skin. He was startled upright remembering where he was, “want to tell me what you’re doing?”
“I-I was waiting for you to get out see if you were up for some alone time with the bugman,” he scrambled. “I do love you when you’re so clean and soft,”
“Oh is that so?” You joked. “Since when do you wait in the bathroom?”
“Don’t be so suspicious,” he quipped as you brushed out your wet hair. Sneaking behind you, reaching under the towel as he planted kisses on your neck, ”I wanted,” a kiss, a hand grips your throat. He feels your shoulders drop, “to carry you,” another few kisses. “To the bedroom,” the hand moved from your throat and gripped your hair.  You grabbed his free hand and sighed. His other hand, was busy rubbing compact circles around your clit making you gasp. “Would my little princess like that?” Your moans proved to him that you were properly distracted from what just happened. You nodded fervently as he set to work making you cum before you even got started. “Hmm? I need verbal baby, tell daddy you want it,” he inserted a finger inside.
“Yes,”
“Yes, what?”
“Yes, sir,” he bent you over the sink and finished you off. You were still gasping and coming down when he gathered you in his arms and carried you off to your bed.
Some time later, you both were entwined in each other with BJ on top of you his body between your legs, his head on your heart. “I love hearing what I do to you,” he growled in your ear, making you shiver. You rubbed his back, which you knew he liked, playing with his hair, humming a nameless tune to yourself. Beetlejuice immediately started purring, kissing your stomach and biting your hip, looking at you with lust filled eyes spreading your legs.
“While I’m alone, and blue as can be,” you sang softly. “Dream a little dream of me,” his head popped up from between your legs. As he cleared his throat and moved off of you, you looked at him with a smirk. “Something wrong darlin?”
“No, no, I just remembered I have to do something,” he grumbled getting up, reaching for his pants. His hair slowly turning blue, as he hastily got dressed.
“Got another girl paging you?” You muttered sarcastically, stretching cat like over the bed.
“You know I’ve only got the strength for you sweetness,” he said giving you a quick kiss on the mouth. “But, no, I’ve gotta get out of here,”
“Fine,” you grumble getting dressed. Waiting for some crack about you being bratty, but none came.
It was a few days before he returned and he was so quiet (for once!) you didn’t notice when he came back in, you were making the bed with your AirPods in, singing along to a Johnny Cash song.
“Early one morning while making the rounds, I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down, went right home and I went to bed, I stuck that loving 44 beneath my head,”
He leaned against the doorway watching you dance and sing to the familiar tune. His hair slowly going pink, you had turned him soft, he just loved seeing you happy. You saw him and grinned.
“Didn’t want to interrupt the show,” he told her walking up to you holding his arms out.
“Hey,” you sighed into his jacket. “I missed you, honey,”
“Me too doll,” he said. You held each other for another minute or so, before he suggested watching a movie. You fired up Shudder and put on one of their original horror films, snuggling with your favorite demon on the couch. Predictably, you fell asleep as he flicked his wrist to the menu once the movie was over. Hours passed and he just loved having you with him he just leeched your heat for the next few hours. Around three am, he heard something, rustling banging like someone was trying to get in. His hair slowly going red as he marched to the source of the noise. The intruder to distracted with the locked jewelry box did not see or hear the demon approaching. He walked close to the intruder’s ear, and made his presence known.
“Boo.” He growled causing the man to scream.
“Oh my God!!” The intruder screamed. Beetlejuice turned his hands palms up, causing flames to light from his palms.
“He ain’t here, should I take a message?” He growled. “What are you doing? Huh? That’s not yours is it? You think it’s okay? Sneak into my breathers house? What if she had been in here? What was your plan?” He made himself taller, turning into a snake, “be very careful about your answer…”
“I-I didn’t take anything! I swear!”
“Drop the jewels,” he hissed. “Her mom gave her that necklace, you touch it and I’ll fucking skin you,” the intruder dropped the sapphire necklace and the earrings.
“GET OUT!!” He screamed, hearing footsteps behind him as you, groggy and scared. Rage took him over and he grabbed the guys throat with his claws.
“BJ?” You squeaked out, glued to the spot. There was a burglar and Beetlejuice went back to a human form just to beat the hell out of him. He punched him once, twice, a third time, blood spattered everywhere. “BJ! Stop! You’re going to kill him!” He ripped the mask off the guy, scared looking kid, blinking at them realizing his mistake. He threw the jewels back at you and tried to get away. Beetlejuice raised claws, and struck the kids neck.
You lunged for the demon afraid of any more damage and threw yourself on his back, you knew he would be too strong in this state to get him off. “Stop honey please,” you whispered. Hearing you he let go, and the intruder limped away from where he came from, empty-handed and battered. He stood there growling, angry at you for making him stop, looking around for something to take the residual rage out on. “Stars shining bright above you,” you sing. “Night breezes seem to whisper, ‘I love you’, birds singing in the sycamore trees, dream a little dream of me,” the red calmed from irate scarlet to a gentle cherry. “Say nightie night and kiss me, just hold me tight and tell me, you miss me, while I’m alone and blue and can be,” pinks and purples washed over him. “Dream a little dream of me,”
“Oh baby,” he husked out enveloping you in his arms. “What if you had been here? What could have happened?”
“Shh, it’s okay,” you soothed. “It’s going to be fine, I’ll call for a better security system in the morning, okay?” He nodded into your neck. You continued singing softly.  “Stars fading, but I linger on dear, still craving your kiss,” you ran your fingers through his bright pink hair as he pulled you into his lap. “I’m longing to linger til dawn, dear, just saying, this,”
“Figured it out?”
“You love me because I’m smart remember?”
“You’re the whole package baby,”
“My brave knight,”
He cleared his throat and rubbed your leg as he nuzzled your neck. “Uh, babes?”
“Yes?”
“…how about an encore?” You giggled kissing his head.
“Stars shining right above you….”

Meet Me in the Woods
Someone To Stay Ch. 7
Spencer x fem reader
Tumblr media
After dinner, the guys and girls split up into their separate rooms, taking turns in the showers. After you finished washing up, you put on some red, plaid pajama pants, a black tank top, and a pair of slippers that looked like bear paws. You made your way into the kitchen, where Rossi was cleaning up.
"You didn't happen to bring marshmallows, did you?" You ask, eyebrows raised.
"You read my mind, kid." Rossi gives you a wink as he hands you a bag, already full of everything you need.
While he finishes, cleaning you make your way outside. All you can hear is the sound of crickets and the wind in the trees. It's like music to your ears, so peaceful. You walk across the back patio that overlooks the lake, heading towards the fire pit. Sitting on one of the log benches, you start to pull out all the supplies you need. After gathering some kindling, you start a fire in the stone fire pit, giving it a poke here and there to help get it going. Within a few minutes, the fire has grown to a decent size, and you can feel it's warmth from your seat.
It's not long before the doors open and the rest of the group joins you, gathering around the fire. Everyone grabs a skewer and starts roasting their marshmallows. Derek gets a little over eager with the fire and keeps burning his, so JJ has to help him out. The chocolate Rossi brought to use isn't plain Hershey's, but instead it's Ghirardli chocolate with different fillings like caramel or raspberry! These have to be some of the best s'mores you've ever tasted.
Once everyone is snacking on their s'mores, you hear Spencer speak up. "Alright! Who wants to hear a ghost story?"
The group lets out some claps and cheers for him.
You watch as his face changes and he lets the group get quiet as he sets the mood for the story. He pulls a candle out from somewhere behind his seat and lights it in the fire. He holds it in front of his face as he begins to speak, but stops when he hears a snicker. He turns and gives you a serious look.
"I'm so sorry!" You and JJ both giggle, trying to pull yourselves together. "It's just really funny watching you take this so seriously."
He rolls his eyes at you, but you swear you almost see a smile. He tries to get back in character before starting.
"In Fredericksburg, Virginia...there is a hospital that would seem completely normal to most people. But to anyone who has been a patient on the 4th floor, they know better." He uses overly dramatic inflection in his voice, which only makes it more humorous.
"Really Spencer...the hospital where I work?"
He stops again, turning to you. "You know what ghosts really hate? People who interrupt. That's right! And they're coming for you next." He gives you a shove, and neither of you can keep a straight face anymore. You're both laughing, trying to catch your breath.
"Hey! I want to hear the rest of the story!" Penelope pipes up.
"Oh please he's just making it up as he goes along. It's not even that scary." You joke, playfully.
"I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that, but I think we all know who did hear it..." he says in his spookiest voice. "Anyways! Like I said, the 4th floor is haunted. Patients who stay in rooms 26  and 27 have reported seeing a young boy and young girl. They say the girl always asks them if they want to play with her ball. Other patients have said they can hear a ball bouncing in the hallway in the latest hours of the night."
You shift, a bit uneasy in your seat. This was starting to sound familiar. It reminded you of stories you had heard from coworkers...but how would he know about this? You normally aren't spooked easily, but as Spencer continues, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
He continues the story. "They say the only people they really go after are the staff. They wait until their guard is down, the sneak up behind them, and..."
"GOTCHA!" You jump up from your seat as someone grabs you from behind.
You look down to see Derek Morgan, bent over with laughter, tears in his eyes. Spencer is laughing just as hard, if not harder. The rest of the team joins in, and after your nerves settle, so do you.
"You planned this didn't you?!" You yell at the two of them, trying to stifle a laugh and be serious.
The pair of them still laughing too hard to even  speak. You have your answer.
"Well that's enough fun for me. I'm headed to bed, anyone else?" Rossi gets up and everyone else joins him, heading inside.
When you step inside, you grab your green, plaid, wool blanket off the couch and carry it back out to the patio. Everyone is already getting ready for bed, so no one notices. You spread it out on the deck and turn off the porch light. You finally lay down on your back, looking straight up at the night sky. You could see a few stars from where you live, but out here there are more than you could ever count. It looks like pixie dust, spread across a deep abyss of black. You take a deep breath in, smelling the forest. For you, it doesn't get any better than this.
You soon hear the patio door open and close, followed by footsteps. You see Spencer standing over you, looking down at you with curiosity. He's changed into purple PJ pants and a Star Wars shirt.
"Whatcha doin?"
"Taking it all in." You smile up at him.
"Mind if I join?"
You scoot over, making extra room as you pat the spot next to you on the blanket.
You let out a long sigh, feeling completely content and relaxed. "I don't know what it is, about space, the stars, the galaxy...but I have always been so mesmerized by all of it. Part of me just appreciates how beautiful it is and part of me appreciates how it is all so much bigger than me. It's beyond what I can ever wrap my head around. There's nothing I wouldn't do to one day take a trip up there."
"Do you know the story of Perseus?" Spencer asks before explaining. He's learned not to underestimate your random knowledge as well.
"Believe it or not, I do actually."
Spencer smiles to himself. "I'm not surprised. Anyways, so there is Cephus at the top, Cassiopeia below him to the right, then Andromeda, and finally Perseus at the bottom left."
Your face twist in confusion. You don't see any of it, but you're too embarrassed to admit this, so you nod as if you see them. You sometimes forget what Spencer does for his job. He scoots closer to you to share your line of vision. He then looks at you and smiles before grabbing your hand and directing your pointer finger along the path of each constellation.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" You ask him.
"What is?"
"All of it. The stars, the trees, the sounds, the smells...it's perfect." You close your eyes feeling completely at peace in this moment.
You don't see Spencer roll his head to look at you.
"Yeah, really beautiful." He responds.
You feel your body relaxing and slipping away from the moment as you fall closer towards sleep. The next thing you know you feel arms slipping underneath you and lifting you from the ground. Mostly asleep, you absent-mindedly wrap your arms around the figure carrying you. You feel your body being carried up and then tucked underneath you bed comforter. Your eyes flit open for only a moment. Through the thick darkness you barely make out Spencer's outline climbing back down the ladder and quietly slipping out of the room. This is the last thing you see before you are awoken by the scent of smokey bacon.
You open your eyes and look around the room to see all three other ladies are still fast asleep. Sunlight is dripping into the room from between the curtains. You carefully make your way down from your top bunk and tip toe out of the room, trying to avoid any squeaky wooden floorboards.
When you finally reach the kitchen, you are surprised to see Hotch cooking breakfast. He's smiling and flipping pancakes at the stove. You haven't known  him very long, but this is still not something you would have expected from him.
"Goodmorning" you yawn, rubbing your eyes and adjusting to the sunlight flooding in from the large kitchen windows.
"Morning!" he beamed. "Care for some pancakes?"
"Pancakes sound wonderful, thanks! Need any help?"
"You can set the table if you don't mind."
"Not at all! Happy to help," You give him a smile as you start to pull place settings out from the cabinets.
"So, pancakes from scratch...where did you learn that?"
He lets out a small chuckle. "Rossi's not the only one who can cook ya know. Truthfull though, I learned a lot from my wife Haley. She was a great mom, and a wonderful cook." He smiles as he seems to get caught up in a memory, but you can here the sadness lacing his tone.
You can't help but inquire. "Was?"
He looks down at the bacon he is now grilling, avoiding eye contact as he continues.
"She was my ex wife for only a little while before she was killed. It was a serial killer that the team should have...that I should have caught." He has stopped cooking and is now gripping the counter infant of him, as though he was trying to keep himself from falling over.
You may not know him well, but your job had made you fairly comfortable with talking to people dealing with situations such as this, so you decide to approach him. You place a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"I'm so sorry, that you and your son have had to go through that. No one should ever be put through that much trauma. But I can tell its made you really strong. And your son, he's lucky to have a dad who cares so much about him and keeps him safe."
Hotch takes a deep breath before continuing his cooking as he flips a few pieces of bacon and pours another pancake. He then turns to you and gives a warm genuine smile.
"Thank you, Y/N. I really appreciate it, truly. We have all been through a lot. And I'm not the only one who's lost someone because of this job..."
He trails off when you expected him to continue. There was something about the way he said that last part that made you believe he wanted to say more. Could he be talking about Spencer? Who did he lose? What happened to them? When did it happen?
Questions start to flood your mind but are quickly pushed to the back as the rest of the team starts to make their way into the kitchen for breakfast.
Everyone is talking about their plans for the day. So you turn to Spencer.
"I have something fun planned, if you're willing to trust me."
He raises his eyebrows, intrigued.
"Well I trusted you yesterday and I turned out okay" he laughs.
"Well it's definitely more laid back, even relaxing. If you want you can even bring a book."
He puts his elbows on the table and leans forward on his hands. You've clearly peaked his interest.
"Ok you've won me over. What is it?"
"A surprise." You smile as you grab both of your empty plates and bring them to the sink to wash them off.
"Well can you at least tell me what I need to wear for this?"
You take a minute to think.
"Definitely sun screen and probably something can get a little bit wet or dirty and also some sturdy shoes."
You both make your way to your rooms to get ready. You find the other three ladies already getting dressed and packed for their planned activities.
Alex is getting ready to go on a hike with Rossi and Hotch. JJ and Morgan are taking some rental jet skis out on the lake. Penny will be relaxing on her float again.
You put on a grey tank with an open, oversized navy flannel, some grey khaki shorts, and chacos . You grab your north face backpack and head to the kitchen to sort through the snacks. The backpack gets filled with granola bars, fresh fruit, cashews, and water bottles.
As you are finishing up, Spencer makes his way out of his room. He's in a half zip grey long sleeve, khaki shorts and tennis shoes. It doesn't look ah all like something he'd usually wear.
"Nice outfit" you smile at him.
"Oh uhh thanks, I borrowed the shirt from Hotch and the shorts aren't something I usually wear, but I brought them on the trip just in case." He seems to be blushing a bit. You feel bad, thinking you've must have embarrassed him.
"No really though, the outdoors look, it works for you." You elbow him as you giggle. The blush on his face turns a dark shade of red. Maybe he's really not used to getting told he looks good. This seems a bit crazy to you. He's ridiculously attractive. So much so that you brushed off any possibility of anything happening the night you met him. Spencer was just a friend, and that's exactly what you needed.
You throw on your back pack and lead the two of you out the glass doors and down the patio steps. You make your way further away from the cabin until the only thing left surrounding the two of you are trees.
The two of you walk for a couple minutes in a comfortable silence. You take in the sound of leaves crunching under your feet, wind in the trees, birds chirping. You look up to see sunlight streaming through the leaves of the trees above you. The path is covered by a canopy of green and gold. It's almost magical. You finally look over to see Spencer with a big smile on his face. He's looking around in awe. You have a feeling he doesn't do this sort of thing often.
"Wow" he breathes out. "It's so beautiful and calm. It's almost a bit..."
"Magical?" You interject. He looks down at you in surprise to see you smiling back up at him. He just smiles and nods.
You finally make your way to dock at the edge of the lake. You toss your back back into a red canoe tied up on the dock.
"We're going out on the lake?" He questions.
"Yeah is that okay?"
"Yeah that's ok. I've never actually been in a canoe before, I'm not sure how much help I'll be rowing."
"That's ok, Spencer. We're just here to relax and have fun" you reassure him.
You motion for him to step in first. You untie the boat from the dock push it off into the water as you jump in at the other end. You instruct him to turn around and face the front and hand him one paddle. You call out instructions to help him with pace and directions. After a couple minutes, he starts to get the hang of it. I mean, he has a PhD in engineering, you're not surprised.
Eventually, the boat is fairly far from shore and you both put down your paddles as he turns to face you. You reach into your backpack and pull out blankets to lay across the seats. Then you pull out the snacks and the water.
"A picnic on the lake, huh?" He gives a slight chuckle.
"Yeah" you shrug. "A bit cheesy, I know."
"It's perfect." He glances up at you with a genuine toothy grin on his face. He looks really happy. When you see this you can't help the ever growing smile on your face.
"What gave you this idea?" he asks as he starts munching on some cashews and grapes.
"Well, I love hiking, I love the water, and you already know I love food. So why not combine all three? Plus, there's just something really therapeutic about being in a boat out on the water, rowing, the only sound is your paddle in the water."
"Well I hope you don't mind, I brought something. I didn't know what we'd be doing, but I thought it might come in handy. Um it's not mine and Derek had to show me how to set it up. It's probably stupid anyways."
"I wanna see!" You give him a light shove on the shoulder.
He reaches into the backpack he brought and pulls out a Bluetooth speaker. Next he pulls out his phone and you hear the beep as it connects. You're incredibly intrigued at this point. The next thing you know, you hear the hear the gentle harmonica and acoustic guitar as "Ghost on the Shore" by Lord Huron fills the air around you.
You lean back on your hands, tears threaten to fill the brims of your eyes.
"Spencer... this is really, really sweet. How did you even find this song?"
"I noticed you looking at some of their music in that coffee shop with the music store. I listened to a little bit, and I really liked this song. I figured you would too."
"It's one of my favorites."
The two of you spend more time listening to music,
snacking, and just taking in the beauty of the nature around you. Way off in the distance you hear laughter and can see JJ and Derek racing around on their jet skis. You decide to head back and join the others, music still sounding from the speaker tucked into a side pocket of his backpack. "Meet Me in the Woods" echoes through the trees as you hike back towards the cabin together. Today had turned out even better than you ever could have planned.

Thanksgiving Special !!
Part of a holiday special series!
Most of the other students are home for the holidays, spending time with their families. A certain group of kids from class 1-A, however, are all staying at the dorms during the break, and they’ve decided to take matters into their own hands regarding the holidays. This was supposed to be a short xTodoroki drabble but now it’s almost 3000 words with no particular ships
Masterlist
Content: fem!reader, pure fluff, Todoroki being a precious clueless baby, Bakugo saying bad words, cards against humanity, togetherness, thanksgiving themes, autumn themes
Y/n stared into the oven, her ankles beginning to get sore from crouching for so long.
She opted to sit on the floor instead.
“It’ll cook faster if you’re not looking,” Kirishima said, glancing down at her. “That’s what they say, at least. Like watching paint dry.”
“That’s not the only reason I’m down here,” Y/n said. She smiled up at him. “It’s warm.”
“If you want heat, just ask Todoroki for a hug or something! ...God knows he could use it,” Kirishima mumbled. He turned to lean against the counter, facing out towards the main space of the common area. “Can’t believe there’s so many of us staying for the holidays!”
“Yeah!” Y/n said enthusiastically. “But that just means we get to be each other’s families and celebrate together! ...God knows we’re a better family to Todoroki than Endeavor.”
A floating coat and earmuffs bounded up to them happily.
“It smells great over here!” Hagakure said excitedly. “That means all the food is doing good, right?”
“Yep!” Y/n said. “We followed just about every recipe we could find.”
“I’ll be surprised if we can eat it all,” Kirishima said, laughing.
“Seriously? I’m afraid we won’t have enough!” Y/n said, getting up from the floor. “How are things on your end, Toru?”
“Aoyama, Tokoyami and I all went super ham at the store! We bought every decoration you can think of!” Hagakure said proudly. “And lemme tell ya, a lot of it’s covered in glitter.”
“Well, Aoyama was on décor duty,” Kirishima said, shrugging. “What did we expect?”
“Did Tokoyami get regular decorations or edgy, goth ones?” Y/n asked. She heard someone clearing their throat and saw that Tokoyami was sitting on a couch in the common area, unpacking a shopping bag and laying things out on the coffee table. “I’m kidding!”
“How’s the construction team doing?” Kirishima asked, looking towards Hagakure’s floating clothes.
“It’d be a lot easier with Yaomomo here,” she said, sighing. “But alas, she’s with her rich, rich family.”
“I’m sure they’re doing well,” Tokoyami said. “Shoji, Sero, and Todoroki know how to work well with others. I’m more worried about Bakugo.”
“Pfft! Don’t let him hear you say that,” Y/n said, laughing. “He’ll take it the wrong way, all like, ‘worried about me? What, you don’t think I can take of myself? I’m Bakugo, I get offended when people care about me and I yell at everyone all the time and don’t know how to express my emotions’!”
“Man, I love your impressions,” Kirishima said, laughing to himself.
“I don’t.”
Bakugo walked through the common area, hands in his pockets and his usual angry expression on his face. He walked right up to Y/n, but she spoke before he could berate her.
“Yeah? I don’t care. Buuut, if you’re gonna be a jackass while you’re here, you should go home to your family like the rest of the class!” She said, pushing him away to a respectable, less ‘in-my-face’ distance. “I mean, Midoriya’s with his mom, Yaomomo’s back in her family’s mansion, hell, even Tsu’s out with family!”
“Hey, has anyone seen Ashido?” Kirishima asked, cutting off Bakugo’s response.
“Huh? Oh, no, I haven’t,” Hagakure said, looking around. “Last time I checked, she was sketching out her design plans on the couch.”
“Well, I trust her,” Y/n said dismissively. “Maybe disappearing for an hour or two is part of her creative process. You guys will be helping her put all your decorations up, right?”
“Of course we will,” Tokoyami said.
“Bakugo, what’s your contribution for our little party?” Hagakure asked. Bakugo scoffed.
“We are not letting you celebrate the holidays with us unless you pitch in and do your share,” Y/n said sternly. “The rest of us are working hard to make this holiday break fun, and you’re doing jack shit.”
“Oh, she’s being strict,” Hagakure said, laughing. “You’d better watch out, Bakugo, she’ll kick your ass.”
“Yeah, right, like she could touch me,” he grumbled. “...So what the fuck do you even want me to do?”
“Good question,” Y/n said. She hummed to herself as she thought for a moment. “Entertainment!”
“Ooh, good idea!” Hagakure chirped, smiling even though no one could see. “You could go out and get us some board games, or video games maybe, or a new movie, or buy us a stereo, or-”
“I get it, shut up,” Bakugo said, annoyed. “I’ll go out and buy some shit, but then I’m done.”
Y/n sighed loudly.
“Kirishima and I made a whole feast’s worth of food, Aoyama, Tokoyami, and Hakagure went out and bought decorations to put up with Ashido, and Todoroki, Shoji, and Sero are installing an entire new fireplace into the building,” Y/n muttered to herself. “And BaKuGo is going to buy us a BoArD gAmE.”
She shook her head to herself as she turned her attention back to the oven. Kirishima patted her shoulder.
“He’s Bakugo, we should’ve expected this,” he said quietly, not wanting Bakugo to hear him. He smiled suddenly. “I’ll look after the food, you go check on Sero and the guys!”
“Ah, yes, my favorite band,” Y/n said, grinning. “Sero and The Guys.”
Kirishima and Hagakure both laughed, and Y/n could swear she even heard Tokoyami chuckle as Kirishima smacked her arm.
“Go check on the new fireplace, you idiot!” He demanded playfully.
“Don’t let anyone touch the pies yet,” Y/n warned. “I’m putting my faith in you, Kiri.”
“A terrible decision, really,” Kirishima stated flatly. “I’ll be the only one touching those pies.”
“Don’t eat them all by yourself!” Hagakure whined. “Wait until later!”
Y/n left the kitchen area to stroll through the common space, stopping only to ruffle Tokoyami’s feathers. She passed Aoyama on her way out of the building, busy admiring some sparkly paper leaves he must’ve bought while he was out with the others.
Y/n made her way outside, trying to ignore the cold, and found the construction team almost finished attaching a chimney to the side of the building. They’d worked on the inside earlier, about the same time she and Kirishima had started all the cooking, but she was still impressed with how quickly they’d been working.
“Wow!” She marveled, alerting them of her presence. “Guys, this is amazing! A communal fireplace for all of us to hang out?! This is gonna be awesome!”
“I know, right?” Sero said proudly. “Imagine all the cool things we can use this for!”
“Please tell me that the fires’ll reflect on one of the walls,” Y/n said excitedly. “If we can’t make shadow puppets, I’m done!”
“...Shadow puppets?” Todoroki repeated curiously. “What are those?”
“You’ve never made shadow puppets?” Sero asked, a little surprised. Todoroki shook his head. “Well, if you’ve got a light in a dark room, you can use your hands to make shapes on the walls.”
“Shoji, I bet you could make a bunch at once, huh? Lucky,” Y/n said.
“I only know how to make dogs and rabbits,” Shoji said. “So it’s not that impressive.”
“Well, you guys be sure to come inside once you’re finished,” Y/n said. “The food’s almost done, they’re about to put up decorations, and we convinced Bakugo to go out and buy us some games.”
“Wow, Bakugo’s helping out?” Sero asked, genuinely shocked. “That’s a surprise. Did you have to threaten him?”
“Something like that,” Y/n said. Sero laughed.
“That’s our girl!” He said proudly. “What’d you say?”
“I just told him he can’t celebrate with us if he doesn’t pitch in,” Y/n said, shrugging. “Honestly, I was surprised he gave in so easily. I guess he actually wants to spend time with us.”
“Maybe he just wants the food,” Shoji said. “He might just be using us.”
“That would be pretty Bakugo of him,” Y/n said, nodding. “You guys are almost done, right?”
“We actually finished about the same time you joined us,” Todoroki said. “Do you need us inside?”
“Not need, per se,” Y/n said. “But you’re certainly welcome. Kirishima’s finishing up some apple-orange cider we made, if you want something warm. Ashido could use some help putting up decorations, if you want to keep working.”
“Thank you,” Todoroki said, nodding thankfully. “I’ve never had… Apple-orange cider?”
“It tastes like autumn!” Y/n said excitedly. “It’s all spiced, and warm, and smells like cinnamon…”
“You’re really selling it there, Y/n,” Sero said, laughing. “It better live up to all that. I’m heading in, you two coming?”
Todoroki nodded, but Shoji shook his head.
“I’m going to make sure this is all sturdy,” he said, gesturing vaguely towards the new chimney.
“Hey, Todoroki, you want to start a fire when we get in? Use the fireplace for the first time?” Sero asked. Todoroki nodded slowly.
“Sure,” he said.
“Mmm… Just the sound of all this makes me feel warm and cozy,” Y/n said, laughing.
“It should!” Sero said loudly, the three of them leaving Shoji as they went inside. “Tonight’s gonna be great.”
Y/n held the door open for Sero and Todoroki as they went inside, and she reveled in the warmth.
“I come bearing gifts!” She announced. “Sero and The- Sero and A Guy.”
“Only one?” Kirishima asked, not sparing a glance at them as he continued work in the kitchen. Tokoyami looked up at them from the couch, now sitting between Ashido and Aoyama.
“Is Shoji still outside?” He asked. Y/n nodded.
“Making sure nothing’s about to fall apart on us,” she said.
She watched as Todoroki walked over to the new fireplace, observing it for a few moments.
“Is there any kindling?” He asked.
“We could use all our old test papers!” Ashido joked. Todoroki raised an eyebrow at her.
“Paper burns too fast,” he said. “It doesn’t last.”
“I can text Bakugo and tell him to pick up some firewood on his way back,” Y/n suggested. Todoroki hummed in acknowledgement, so she pulled her phone from her pocket and texted Bakugo.
Bakugo: THE HELL DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT MORE STUFF I ONLY HAVE SO MUCH FUCKIN MONEY YOU KNOW
“Did he say anything?” Ashido asked. Y/n nodded.
“Complaining,” she said simply, walking over to join Kirishima. “Any updates?”
“Just keepin’ everything warm right now,” he said, smiling. “We don’t want any cold turkey, now, do we?”
“Are the pies okay?” Y/n asked.
“You guys made pie?!” Sero asked excitedly.
“Pumpkin, apple, and cherry,” Y/n confirmed, nodding proudly. “I mean, if Kirishima hasn’t devoured them all.”
“Hey, you said you trusted me!” Kirishima said, pouting.
“Where’d Hagakure go?” Y/n asked, looking around.
“She ran up to her room to put her earmuffs away,” Ashido said. She fell quiet for a moment, looking around the room and creating a frame with her fingers. “We can put some leaves on that window there, and that cornucopia can go on the table.”
Sero walked over and joined Y/n and Kirishima in the kitchen.
“Man, it smells good in here!” He said excitedly. “What’d you guys make?”
“Pie, turkey, stuffing,” Y/n said, listing things off on her fingers. “Cider.”
“Some stuffing and potatoes, cranberry sauce, and Y/n taught me how to make strawberry jam!” Kirishima added. “And a bunch more dessert stuff, and some weird coffee.”
“I can’t wait,” Sero said enthusiastically, grinning.
The front door slammed open.
“I got your shit, you fucks.”
“Hey! Today is about being thankful and kind!” Kirishima scolded. Y/n walked over to Bakugo and grabbed a bundle of firewood from his arms.
She brought it over to the fireplace and let Todoroki help her set it in the fireplace before he set a hand on a log, lighting a fire.
“Mmm, warm!” Hagakure cooed, coming back into the main room. “Oh, Bakugo’s back! What’d you get us?”
“...Cards Against Humanity.”
“Aw, that’s such a Bakugo game!” Y/n said, smiling. “A game where you can be together with the people you refuse to let know you love and say things like ‘I eat ass for a living and my wife is pregnant with a turtle from Russia’.”
“What the fuck goes through your head, L/n?” Bakugo asked, taking the box of cards out of his shopping bag. He walked over to the coffee table in front of the couches and set it down, putting the bag next to it. “I’m done now, right?”
“Yeah, something like that,” Y/n groaned. “Ashido, you need any more help with the, uh… Sparkly leaves?”
“Nope!” Ashido said happily. “We’re just about finished!”
At the same time, Shoji joined everyone indoors.
“Everything all good out there?” Sero asked. Shoji nodded. “Well, that’s everything done, then, right?”
“Oui! Merci beaucoup, everyone!” Aoyama said excitedly, twirling around in a sparkly trenchcoat- No, not sparkly, magnifique.
“So, then, who’s hungry?” Kirishima asked, leaning closer to the fridge.
“It’s time for a feast, everyone,” Y/n said proudly. “Kiri, let’s get everything to the well-decorated table. Thank you, décor team.”
“You’re very welcome,” Tokoyami said, picking up a fallen paper leaf and looking for the tape on the wall it had left behind.
“Oh, I got it dude,” Sero said, putting his elbows to good use and putting the leaf back.
“Thank you, Sero,” Tokoyami said, nodding gratefully before deciding to push two tables together, making space for everyone.
Y/n and Kirishima took a few minutes to move all the food while Ashido and Hagakure set the table. Once everything was in place and everyone was sitting down, they decided their work was all worth it. The warmth of the fire, the dollar store décor, the smell of the food, and even the sparkles reflecting off of everything Aoyama had insisted on buying.
“I don’t usually do anything fancy before eating,” Y/n said, making sure she spoke before anyone started eating. “But my family has a tradition on Thanksgiving. Before we start, everyone at the table goes around and says what they’re thankful for. I think it’s only right that we do the same thing right now.”
“That sounds fun,” Kirishima agreed. There were a few nods of agreement and acknowledging hums around the table. “Who’s going first?”
“I can do it,” Y/n said, smiling. “I’m grateful for all of you guys, and the rest of the class. Without you, I don’t think hero training would be any fun.”
Kirishima agreed, saying he was thankful for his friends and family. Shoji thanked everyone as well, Ashido and Hagakure thanked the girls of class 1-A, Aoyama thanked his family and France, and Sero thanked family and friends. Tokoyami said he was grateful both to and for Dark Shadow, and Todoroki thanked Midoriya for ‘saving’ him.
“Last is Bakugo,” Kirishima said, enjoying hearing his friends talk about the things and people they love.
“Yeah, yeah,” Bakugo grumbled. “...I guess I’m thankful for you guys or whatever.”
“Aw! Bakugo, that’s so sweet!”
“Shut up and eat your damn food!”
Everyone enjoyed the food, thanking Y/n and Kirishima and asking how on earth they did it. Once everyone had eaten their fill, they moved to the couches, ready to play the card game Bakugo had gotten.
“Wait, one thing first!” Y/n said suddenly. She ran over to a light switch and turned off the lights in the room, leaving only the bright glow of the new fireplace. “Todoroki’s never heard of shadow puppets before.”
“Really?” Kirishima asked. Todoroki nodded and Kirishima just smiled. “Well, awesome! I know so many animals!”
“...Animals?” Todoroki asked slowly. Kirishima nodded excitedly and raised both hands, intertwining them oddly. “What are you doing?”
“Look at the wall,” Y/n explained. Todoroki looked at the wall, seeing the shadows Kirishima’s hands were making. “What do you see?”
“It’s an elephant,” Todoroki stated flatly. He looked at Kirishima, fascinated, and attempted to imitate the hand shape.
Y/n looked at the wall for a minute before making a deer, which prompted Ashido and Shoji to make a wolf and a rabbit. Everyone reveled in Todoroki’s delight until Bakugo got fed up and decided to turn the lights back on.
“Either play the damn cards or give me my twenty bucks back.”
“...I didn’t realize Card Against Humanity was so expensive,” Sero said slowly. “Let’s get to it! I wanna hear all your darkest, dirtiest jokes!”
“I’ll deal,” Tokoyami said.
The box of cards was soon opened, and cards passed out throughout the group.
Tokoyami pulled the first black card as the game was explained to Todoroki and Aoyama.
“Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m ____.”
Being a dick to children - Bakugo

Tumblr media
Summary: (Technical ‘epilogue’ to Lemon Boy.) Short and sweet snippets of the end of high school through the first year of college.
A/N: Hiiii everyone, thank you SO MUCH for reading Lemon Boy despite it being long as all hell. I really appreciate more than you know. As requested, here’s a short-ish little epilogue !!!
Word Count: 4.4K+ || Masterlist || PLAYLIST
SERIES | 1 Lemon Boy | 1½ Banana Bread | 3 Boys Will Be Bugs | 3½ It’s U
"Mmm," Ethan winced, reaching for your hand habitually. "Oh, oh, mmm, no, okay, (Y/N)," he blabbed, his face twisting as he swiveled in his spot.
"What's your deal? You've gotten tons of tattoos before, why are you being such a baby about this one?" you asked, frowning.
He wiggled restlessly and sucked in air sharply through his teeth. "Because they were using a real needle and not- not a sewing pin," he wheezed, his voice cracking.
"You're the one that asked me to do this!" you lifted the needle from his thigh, cocking a brow at him warningly, but slid your left hand up to lock hands with him. "If you don't stop moving, I'm going to mess- okay, it's just going to look hideous, and it's going to be all your fault," you shrugged indifferently, pursing your lips.
Grayson snorted from beside you on the basement floor. "(Y/N), please don't mess it up, he's already ugly enough."
You giggled and nodded, ducking your head close to Ethan's leg again. "Tell me about it."
Ethan groaned from above you and you glanced up to see his notorious grumpy pout. "(Y/N), you're supposed to love me and all you two do is team up on me," he whined.
You rolled your eyes and flicked his knee. "Keep bitching and I'll accidentally mess up on purpose."
"I miss the days when you were shy and in awe of me," he sighed, sniffing theatrically.
"I certainly don't miss the days when you wouldn't fucking shut up about her. Oh, wait," Grayson grumbled, tossing a glare in Ethan's direction. You cackled, lifting your steady-working hand to avoid a mistake so you could laugh properly. Ethan rolled his eyes and stared at you with daggers.
"Biggest drama queen I know," you sang beneath your breath, stretching the skin on his thigh for a more precise stab. You had been working at his tattoo for over an hour and you'd hardly got the outline with all his fidgeting and squirming.
"What was that, babe?" Ethan tested, clear edge in his voice. You grinned to yourself, a sudden rush of affection coursing through you. You looked up, grabbed Ethan by the collar of his shirt, and tugged his sullen face to yours. You kissed him gently, taking your time to adjust to the intoxicating feeling he always gave you. He scrunched a hand in your hair and then dragged it down your arm idly, chuckling against your lips when his fingers ghosted your goosebumps, entangling his fingers with yours again.
"What are you guys laugh- Oh, for fuck's sake (Y/N), you know better!" Grayson scolded as he looked up from his phone. His face contorted in disgust as you blindly swatted at him, lazily pulling away from a very reluctant Ethan.
"Why are you yelling at me!" you retorted with a slackened jaw.
"Because Ethan doesn't have any self-control! You're supposed to push him away!"
You writhed as Ethan leaned down and peppered kisses on your cheek. "What if I'm the one that pulled him in?" you smirked, leaning into Ethan's touch.
Grayson gasped and immediately scuttled from his spot next to you. "(Y/N), I'm disappointed in you," he scoffed, strutting to the door. You rolled your eyes and turned back to Ethan, whose nose was nuzzling your jaw and the spot beneath your ear so lovingly.
"Mmm, why do you always smell so good?" Ethan breathed against your neck, marking a soft kiss on your throat. "Like-" Sniff. "-all the-" Deep breath. "-time. I just wanna-" he mumbled, teasing his lips along the line of your throat before he dragged your mouth to his. Your cheeks heated up, just as they always did, and you fisted your hands in the hem of his cotton tee, rumpling the fabric in your fingers. Ethan licked the curve of your mouth and you sighed a breathy sigh, your toes curling when he bit down on your bottom lip.
"(Y/N), Wonder Woman starts at 9:15 and you're coming with me!" Cameron screamed from around the corner, her feet slapping on the tiled floor as she ran to you.
You pushed at a stubborn Ethan, whose lips had worked their way to your neck, his teeth digging into the soft skin. "No, Cam, don't come-"
She scampered into the basement, still smiling before she dropped her phone and her jaw. "What the fuck-"
"Cam-"
"My innocent eyes!" she shrieked, burying her face in the sleeve of her sweatshirt.
"Okay, that's not even accurate." You pulled Ethan off of you by his hair, cringing terribly.
"Oh, I love it when you pull my hair-" Ethan moaned dramatically, throwing in a whimper for good measure.
"Oh, my virgin ears!" Cam wailed, clamping her hands around her head.
Your face slumped, unconcerned. "Virgin? Cameron, literally last week you-"
"Whoa, what?" Ethan yelled. "The fuck does she mean last week, Cameron?"
Cameron smacked her forehead, "(Y/N)."
"You're my little sister! you can't be sleeping with guys!" Ethan screamed, his hands flailing as he spoke.
"Little sister? Ethan, I'm four years olde-"
"Hey! What's going on down there?!" Lisa chastised from the top of the stairs. You all cinched your lips and exchanged glances. "I asked a question," she pushed icily.
"I- I, Um- I'm going to Wonder Woman with Cameron and Ethan doesn't want me to go!" you replied, shuffling over to the stairs. You glanced back at Ethan and rolled your eyes as he mouthed 'correct'.
Lisa stared down at you from over the banister and snorted. "Tell Ethan to suck it up. Wait, hey, could I come? Make it a girls night?" she asked, smiling giddily.
You chuckled and nodded. "Only if you're ready by 9:00 Lisa!" you said.
You turned back to find a very smug Cameron and a very angry Ethan. "(Y/N), you are literally in the middle of giving me a tattoo!" he cried, tugging up his basketball shorts to reveal the outline of a lemon slice. You raised a brow and your eyes flickered over to Cam who had her hands on her hips.
"E, it's girls night!" you whimpered, biting your lip. "I promise I'll finish it someday."
"Someday?" he asked incredulously, staring down at the unrecognizable design.
"Yes! Someday!" you said, Cameron tugging you by your arm to the stairs.
"Fuck's sake, Cam, at least let me say goodbye to my girlfriend," he growled, stomping over to you and wrapping his arms around your middle, yanking you away from her grasp. She huffed and thundered up the steps, deserting the two of you. He groaned loudly, throwing his head back and exposing his throat oh-so deliciously. "Why does my family love you so much!"
You snorted, "That sounds like the opposite of a problem."
He tightened his arms around you and rested his chin on the top of your head, giving you the opportunity to peck his collarbone. "You know what I mean. You're my girlfriend, not Cameron's, not my mom's, not Grayson's-"
"All yours," you mumbled against his chest as he ranted.
He kissed the top of your head and grumbled a bit more before sighing, "Alright. Go to the stupid movie without me." He unraveled from around you and plopped back on the couch all angsty.
You rolled your eyes and followed him, climbing onto his lap like you had a thousand times before. "Baby..." you cooed, running your fingers along the hard lines of his stomach. He huffed dramatically, and you knew he was just playing hard to get. He fought back a grin, instead frowning his terrible frown. "I can stay here if you really want me to..."
He tilted his head back and forth as if weighing the options before grunting and throwing an arm around your neck, pulling you in to kiss your temple. "Of course I want you to go," he murmured against your skin. "Just miss you."
You closed your eyes and really reveled in the moment, a soft smile on your lips.
"Can't wait for forever. Sometimes it feels like we don't have enough time," he whispered. "I know that sounds dumb."
You shook your head and hugged him tightly. "I know. I know, and I always have to tell myself that I'm not going anywhere, and I pray to God you aren't either," you said, nervously chewing on your lip. "Sometimes, seems too good to be true."
He kissed your cheek and chuckled as he felt it heat beneath his lips. "You don't even have to ask, I'm obsessed with you. I've even made these little voodoo dolls with your hair and they-"
"Ethan," you laughed, swatting the back of his head, all tension melting in an instant. Because that's what it was like to be in love with your best friend.
"(Y/N)!" Cameron called from the top of the stairs.
You grinned warmly at him and shifted to hop off his lap. He held your hips firmly in place, kissing you softly, softly, softly.
"Ethan!" Cameron scolded, realizing just what was happening.
"She's coming!" he barked. You slid off his lap and smiled and turned to leave before you were tugged right back, gifted with one more peck. "I love you," he mumbled against your mouth.
"I love you t-"
Cameron stamped her foot on the ground. "Ethan, I swear to fuck-"
"Holy shit Cameron, hold on two fuc-"
-
Graduation was just as bittersweet as everyone had told you; while you had plenty of fantasies about burning the school down to the ground, you couldn't help but reminisce on all the good memories it gave you. Your mind roamed to that first time you ran into Grayson, all scattered papers and life-threatening anxiety levels. You took one last peek at the lunch table you'd sat at for four years with the best friends you could have ever asked for. You hugged Mr. Dolan, this time not for Ethan or for grilling steaks on the back deck last night, but for being the best literature teacher you could have asked for, and for kindling that creative flame in you.
You watched Ethan cross the stage with tears slipping from the corners of your eyes. You stood and screamed and hollered for him, ignored all the judgmental stares, and cried freely when he looked back at you with an award-winning, eye crinkling grin.
"Who knew that son of a bitch could smile. I'm surprised he even made it up there," you heard someone snark from behind you.
And that was it.
You sat, twisted in your seat, and said, "Go fuck yourself, you piece of shit."
Because what did you owe Caleb Hoffman from 2nd period? What the fuck were you holding back for? You'd never see him again in your life after this ceremony. You'd never see any of the people that treated Ethan like he was less than human again, and if that wasn't a blessing.
"E-Excuse me?" he coughed, his face an unattractive tomato red.
"I said, go fuck yourself. Don't ever speak about Ethan Dolan again," you spat and turned back around.
You walked across stage feeling freer than you ever had in your life--not because of the imitation diploma your principle handed you or the fact that you never had to take another P.E. class again, but because for the first time in your eighteen years, you were no longer caged by the opinions of others.
-
As the sun drew close to the horizon, you sat in that ice cream parlor once more with your best friends. The bridge of your nose was pink with sunburn and your hair was a host for half of the beach's sand, and it felt good.
You scraped your tongue against the scoop of cream cotton candy, reminiscing on all those 'remember the time's with Lacey, Madi, and Sierra. It felt like you were all cramming as many inside jokes and memories as you possibly could, people often being interrupted or talked over, the subject pin-balling. You sat in the booth for hours, begging time to slow down, slow down.
"Guys?" you said quietly when the conversation settled, licking your wobbling lip. And it set in all in one moment. "I'm really gonna fucking miss you guys," you croaked.
And then you were throwing your arms around each other hastily, clinging onto each other painfully tight, sobbing into each other's arms.
"I know this isn't goodbye, but it hurts so bad," Madi choked out.
"It hurts because I'm not going to know every second of your guys' days for the first time, no matter how hard we try," Sierra said through a strangled voice. "Who the fuck am I gonna be a mom to now?"
You all broke out in laughter and huddled together even tighter, snuffles and cries accompanying your giggles.
And then the sun set, the moon rose, and the ice cream parlor you'd attended with them since you were a toddler flipped its sign from 'open' to 'closed.'
And you knew this wasn't goodbye, but it hurt so bad.
-
You stood on the sidewalk of your university, shielding the sun with your hand and pointing to the fourth floor of the skyscraper in front of you. "Think that's my room right there," you muttered.
Ethan grabbed your hand and moved it down a floor. "And there's mine," he chuckled, wrapping an arm around you. You leaned into his body, the most content you'd ever been.
"We're on our own, E," you mumbled, voice soft and shaky. "Wonder how my mom's gonna fend for herself."
Grayson strode up next to the two of you and sighed vehemently. "She's going to be so lost, but at least she'll get some sleep now that I'm gone."
Your eyebrows furrowed and you tensed against Ethan's figure. "Get some sleep..? Oh- Grayson, stop making those jokes about my mom, you're so fucking weird," you groaned, shoving his shoulder the best you could--which wasn't much. He cackled wickedly and high-fived Ethan. "Oh my god, I can't do this anymore," you moaned, dropping your face in your hands.
Gray wrapped you up tight and scrubbed his fist against your head. "C'mon little sis, get used to it. You're still stuck with me."
"I'm thrilled."
"Me too!" Ethan cheered, tackling the two of you in a bear hug.
"Woo." You were very happy that your near-gaping smile was masked by their arms because they didn't need to know how excited you were.
"And we aren't on our own! We have each other, unlimited freedom, and a lot of anxiety!" Grayson smiled gleefully, nodding his head at the campus in gratitude.
"We're gonna starve," you wailed, your voice muffled by the many limbs surrounding you.
"Don't worry, we have my cooking-"
"Oh my god, we're going to have to eat Grayson's cooking," you cried dramatically. "That is so much worse. I wanna go home."
He slapped you upside the head and then was immediately attacked by Ethan, who began chewing off his ears about you being 'fragile'. You rolled your eyes and ducked out from under them. You left the boys to their endless shenanigans and tucked your hair behind your ears, began to trot up the sidewalk to your dorm and unlocked your door, hoping your roommate was there at this point.
And she was. "Hi, I'm Charlotte!" she said, scrambling off the bed to shake your hand. She was tall and pretty--supermodel pretty--and your gut twisted sickly. How quickly could someone snatch E up here?
Despite your quaking nerves, you grinned and ignored her formal greeting, throwing your arms around her instead. "Hey roomie, I'm (Y/N)."
She chuckled and gripped you tighter. You broke apart and stared at each other a bit awkwardly, a silence filling up the room. You glanced around, desperate to find something to talk about as the seconds passed. You noted her minimalist decorations, everything in white and gold, except for a rainbow flag that stuck out from her pencil cup. You marveled at how tidy she was, with an obvious fashion to her notes. They were color-coded to her binders with matching pens placed directly in the center of the books, and it reminded you of E a bit. You were so caught up in your own anxiety, you failed to realize that this was probably just as big of a transition for her as it was for you. "So-"
She heaved a deep breath and cut you off, "Okay, I just have to ask, I saw your To Kill a Mockingbird book on your bed earlier, and I noticed you were at the end, so I just have to ask. What do you think about Harper Lee categorizing her novel as a love story? Because I've read it a dozen times, and I saw all your highlighted quotes--sorry, didn't mean to snoop, I was just checking the page, I swear--and you've clearly read it before too, so I was just-"
Your smile was untamable. "Honestly, I don't know what she was thinking, specifically because there's not romance in any part of the novel, besides the rape, but that didn't even happen!" you cried, grinning freakishly wide.  "I honestly think she was just trying to make people think and sound more... I don't know, unique? I mean, I know that Scout has a good relationship with her father and brother and not everything has to be romantic, but I hardly think that makes it classifiable as a love story."
"Right!" Charlotte chimed, stomping her foot for emphasis. "That's like saying Brave New World was a love story, when it was clearly more about the dystopian universe post-World War I, you know? Just because Lenina fell for ..." she continued, but you were too happy to listen.
College was going to be alright.
-
You slung the headband around Ethan's hair, pushing his unruly mane back. "Never cut this hair," you said pointedly, twisting the face mask pot open.
Ethan laid back, still chewing the last bits of his ramen, and asked, "Really? Grayson's been on me about how it's getting too long."
You dipped two of your fingers into the goop and smeared it on his forehead, Ethan wincing at the cold. He would never stop being dramatic--thankfully. "Well, Grayson's not the one pulling on it," you drawled, rubbing the mixture all around his face. Ethan smirked, running his tongue over his teeth. His face relaxed under your touch, allowing you to smooth the face mask on easily, leaving him with blue skin.
"Mmkay, done," you breathed, admiring your masterpiece. And maybe it was the fact that it was almost finals week and you were bound to be stressed out of your mind, or maybe it was the fact that you just returned from your first spring break with your first--and only--love, or maybe it was the fact that you were impossibly, most-fortunately, and irrevocably in love with your absolute best friend, but a tidal wave of emotion swept over you and you looked at him with all the love in the world and asked, "E, how'd we get this far?"
He smiled crookedly at you and said, "If I knew, I'd tell everyone, so they'd know what it's like to be this happy."
Your head fell and you willed yourself not to cry and get too emotional. "You used to be the boy that never smiled."
Ethan twisted you and pulled you onto his chest, his heart rabbiting underneath you. "Now look what you've done to me. I've lost my reputation, asshole."
You laughed and slapped his thigh where it bordered you, glancing at the tattoo you never bothered to finish, and then you were really laughing. "Ethan," you giggled uncontrollably.
"What? What's gotten into you?" he laughed, holding the sides of your waist.
"We never finished your tattoo," you laughed, holding your stomach where it ached. It was half a lemon slice, tucked right up at the top of his thigh. He furrowed his brows, staring at the ink until a smile broke out on his face; one so big it made your breathing shallow and your heart pound. Then he was laughing hard, so hard, and you took a second to thank God for Ethan Dolan.
"You're right. And all because you had to go to Wonder Woman," he rolled his eyes.
"Uh, excuse me! That was the greatest movie of all time! I would ditch your tattoo a second time to watch Wonder Woman again," you sniffed haughtily.
He rubbed at the spot on his thigh, smoothing his thumb over the skin with a smile. "You really should finish that, I completely forgot about it."
You snorted, "Please, you have like, ninety on there." You chuckled as you ran your fingertip along the black lines on his leg. "I doubt anyone notices the half-finished lemon slice, Lemon Boy." His eyes lit up at the nickname you hadn't used in forever, simply because he wasn't his bitter self anymore. He was happy--he was so genuinely happy. "Besides, I doubt you have a higher pain-tolerance than you did last year, so it's probably not a good idea..."
"Wha- okay, you're literally stabbing me with a pin. My bad if I was hurt by a pin literally stabbing me!"
"Whatever," you sighed, knowing it would rile him up. Before he had the chance to explode, you sat up and kissed him with all the love you had, slowly and gently, just how he deserved.
He pulled back, "Want a tattoo? Since it's so painless and easy-"
And, without the thought of overthinking, you blurted, "Sure," and didn't let yourself change your mind.
"Sure? Are you serious?" Ethan panted, sitting up straight and searching your eyes.
"Yeah, and I'd get going before I change my mind," you sang, tying your hair up with a spare ponytail you had on your wrist. Ethan hopped off his twin-sized mattress and ransacked his closet for the makeshift tattoo set he stored. You giggled as he raced around with a blue face-masked face, snatching his razor and the bottle of shaving cream.
"What do you want? And where do you want it? Cause there are a few areas that are really painful, like your ankle or-"
"Surprise me," you grinned.
"Surprise you?" you gawked. "(Y/N), this is a tattoo like, for life."
You shrugged and shucked off your crewneck and ducked down to grab The Great Gatsby from Ethan's bedside table. It was your copy; the one you had bought with Christmas money a few days after he gifted you with that reading list, and it was tattered and crumpled and perfectly messy. It had highlighter smeared everywhere and questions and comments and quotes. Without a second thought, you cracked the spine and flicked open the first page.
"Chapter One: In my younger and more vulnerable years," you spoke crisply. Ethan chuckled from behind you and crept onto the bed to straddle your legs and get to work. He popped the cap of the can of shaving cream and shaved away at a small patch of skin just below your shoulder blade, wiping it all away with a cold rag. "my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since. 'Whenever you feel like criticizing any one,' he told me, 'just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.' He didn’t say any- Ow!"
"See!" he laughed, pricking your skin again with the needle.
"No, doesn't hurt that bad, I just-" you fibbed, your voice wavering implausibly as he stabbed you again. "didn't expect it, 's'all"
Ethan hummed sarcastically and continued his torture. "Keep reading."
So you did, and once you adjusted to the constant jabs, you settled. You read and read and read for ages, your eyes growing droopier as the hours passed. "E, I can't stay up anymore," you mumbled, flattening yourself on the mattress.
He chuckled and swiped away at the ink with his towel. "Alright, I'm done anyway. Wanna see it?" he asked.
You shook your head and adjusted your position. "No, just want to cuddle 'n' have you read to me," you whispered, reaching blindly for his fingers.
He leaned down and kissed your tattoo sweetly and dragged his lips up to the nape of your neck, peppering kisses wherever he could. "Mmkay babe, just need to wash off this stupid face mask," he grumbled.
"You'll have glowing skin," you giggled, shutting your eyes. He complained about something, you were sure of it, but you were already edging unconsciousness. He waddled back over to the bed, picked you up and slid under you. He felt the bare skin of your belly on his hip bone, so he stripped off his tee and pulled it over you, wrestling your arms into the holes. You clung to his body, laying between his legs because frankly, that's the only way the two of you could fit on the twin-sized dorm bed. "Are you gonna read?" you said, practically sleep talking.
"Mmm, yeah," he mumbled. His eyes scattered around the page, attempting to find a place to pick up off of, and then he found it. "He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced--or seemed to face--the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey," he read over the highlighted words. And then, with a pounding heart, he ran his fingers along the margin alongside the quote where 'Ethan--the boy that never used to smile' was written.
Ethan smiled to himself, begged the tears in his eyes to subside, and lifted the shirt that covered your sleeping body up to reveal his tattoo on your back. Written plain and simply beneath the wing of your shoulder was 'Lemon Boy' in a thin font.
He dragged your top back down and felt sleep tug on him stubbornly. So, with a yawn, he tossed Gatsby onto the floor, leaned down and kissed your forehead, and switched off the lamp. Tomorrow was another day with you, and Ethan couldn’t wait.

Q: Pearly hi how did you leave without your mom noticing
strong pearly
Edgy is my objection buddy

I am ready to hate this person just as much as I did the first vampire
Q: No I am not shocked you are a woman now I'm just wondering why we have not met up with another female prosecutor
Q: HEY DON'T HIT THE JUDGE
Q: I don't think she should be allowed to bring that anymore
Then how did manfred fail if you are all so perfect
Fool
Q :HEY SHE HIT GUMMY D:
Q: Ya but we heard two gunshots and you say there was just one
Q: Hey there is a bullet hole in it
Q: I can figure it out I know I can
Q: I would use the gun on the last statement because it was fired twice and has the victims fingerprints on it but that didn't work
Q: Why can't I find anything
Q: I am stuck :(
BF: Aaaah I'd help but I don't know which part of the cross exam your at so I don't know what you're trying to prove right now
Q: I'll type the thing why not
Q: "Sorry pal there is more evidence", "this is the costume masthead wearing", "it's covered is blood," " defendant killed the person who did not right back ".
BF: ....I'm not sure, but I THINK you can find some evidence to disprove the 'didn't fight back' thing by gesturing to the sleeve of her costume somehow
If I'm remembering that segment correctly.
Q: Back
Hey the costume did work thank you
Q: Somebody please take that whip away from her
BF: hhaha no problem
the whip is Franzy's signature item, though. lD
BF: Also, she's not the last prosecutor who will physically assault you during a trial and get away with it hahah
Q: How dare this game
But there is a bullet hole in the outfit he didn't miss
Q: Finally that other bullet hole contradicts something
Q: I'm not getting something it's why I keep saving
I should know at this point where Maya was
BF: If you are still on the first day of the trial, you actually don’t have enough info yet to know where in the room she was!
Q: Dangit
Q: Oh hey I do know what I am doing
Q: I'm sorry what kinda swear is that Phoenix
Q: Lotta please don't be annoying like last  time you were here
Oooo save point
Hi pearl I forgot about you
Q: See I'm not the only one annoyed by the whip!!!
How am I supposed to be happy when a Von Karma is around
How am I supposed to pretend we are all family
Q: Lotta there were two gunshots
Q: For now I don't think I can present any evidence
Q: Which is sad
Q: WHY DID YOU POSSES PEARL
at least your not showing off Boobs
Nevermind
Q: Von Karma I hate you
Q: FINALLY I can prove it wasn't Maya
Q: No morons that is Mia
Q: You know if was ready to hate this second vampire but she isn't nearly as bad as the first one so far
Q: I'm not a fool I'm just annoying
BF: Franziska really isn’t the straight up villain her dad was; she’s more like a more prickly Edgeworth
Q: Alright well that is better
I really wanna see pearl tell at her haha
Q: Ya edgy was fine after a while but being nice forced him to leave him job so
Q: Who is misty who are you trying to kill
Q: Not a movie but it is a game and anime so
Q: How did steel samurai merch get in here
Q: Aww a cute theme for pearl
Q: Don't worry pearl I won't tell your mom
Q: Hey Lotta if you don't want me to be chasing you then maybe you should stop being in the rooms I need to go to
Q: and that is why Phoenix doesn't date women Lotta.
Q: Lotta you're fine you're one of the more likable people in this game
Q: I dislike that girl so I'd be fine to say she's the killerI  mean it'd make sense
She is the sister of girl who was killed by the man who just died
BF: Indeed, she does have a motive!
Q :back to thing
Comic is going it is fun to draw
Q: yes please give me info
new place to go. Also why does Lotta not like giving me info
what is this place
Q: you don't look like a doctor
Q: well of course you aren't
BF: Hahaha oh man I forgot you hadn’t encountered that creep yet
back to ace attourny but this is a great AU
Q: phoenix started talking like the guy hahaha
oh no did Pearl's mom call the cops on me
crap
Q: Ya well I suspected she was as evil
Q :need to go again dangit
Q: I think it's funny how I'm the scary one in this game
Q: I think right now I don't know if like the redhead girl or Morgan more
Q: the more I find out i guess i like the redhead more
Q: I win >:D
if we were both asleep then maybe you were both drugged like how the opening said
what is she talking about
im scared
Q: how about you show her your damn police badge that'd be interesting to her
pearl come with meeee
Q: mia don't lie to me i have a magic rock
Q: one more lock.
I feel smart :D
oh so morgan and ini were the killers great
Q: well if she made it look like Maya killed him she could become the next master
Q :Pearl did you run here AGAIN???
oh god please don't bring morgan
pfft Maya she does this to you too?
Ohhh well I guess that makes sense... I mean, she would be really mad at me for saying her mom killed the guy
Q: I like Mia and (whats her name the second vampire) arguing it's funny
Q: morgan you are lying
Q: ya no you hated me there is no way you thought "good sir"
BF: haha Franziska!
Q: I'll call her Franz for short
I mean this testimony was in the opening so maybe it isn't entirely a lie
Q: what do you mean it wasn't strange???
Q: but there was blood on her outfit how did you not think it was strange!!!
Q: mini stop eating your hat
that personality change reminds me of the worst person ever ... April May
Q: no but really it isn't more subjective
Q: Pearl is being used as evidence why not
Q: Franz stop it let me question her
i wanna present the urn but morgan is watching
but you know what there is nothing else here so
Q:
Franz: Why do I feel like you’re going to ruin my beautiful day? Me: CUZ I AAAAAMMMM
also why is Ini's hat so stretchy
BUT IT WAS A LIE
JUST BECAUSE SHE TESTIFIED ABOUT IT DOESN'T MEAN SHE CAN'T AGAIN
LIES AND SLANDER
Q :IT'S NOT BASELESS ALSO YOUR DAD IS A PIECE OF SHIT
Q: CRIME SCENE
SCENE OF THE CRIME HMMMM
Q: I am angry i will use caps
Q :YOU WERE HIDING THE PLACE PHOENIX ALWAYS THINKS SOMEBODY IS HIDING BUT WILL NEVER CHECK NO MATTER WHAT I DO
wow there are a lot of holes in your hat when you strech it out
spinny hat
then how did lotta earlier isn't she bigger than you
when i first went into the room the box wasn't there and then later it was
BUG ON MY DESK KILL IT
KILL IT NOW
i think it's dead
i hope so
Q :the folding screen >:3
SHUT UP FRANZ
ugh that bug is making me left arm flinch a lot
revenge after your death how dare you
Q :im not foolish im just better than you
BETTER THAN YOUR ASSHOLE OF A FATHER
I COULD RAISE YOU
wait what did i just say wtf hahaha
Q: and that is why i think that MORGAN HELPED
Q: WAIT I WANNA LOOK AT THAT FRAME BY FRAME
Q: yesss good case
well I mean your dad did
also fuck your dad I hate him that is all
BF: hahahaha
Q: actually no im not done
but finishing it would include a lot of swear words
BF: This case is totally setting up for some things in Game 3, btw
Q: dammit
Well I have motives for both of them Franz I just need to know that Phoenix knows.
BF: what you are ultimately trying to prove is Ini's motive, then that she did it and how she did it with Morgan's help
Q: okay!
Q: I am much more confidence than phoenix but that may just be anger
and a save point
OH GREAT NOW WE HAVE TO TALK TO FRANZ OUT OF THE COURT GREEAAAT
Actually Maya I had everything to do with it and I am proud I gave his ass the death penalty
stop being mean to Maya you're dad already cost Edgy his job hey now I have another reason to hate vampire
back to cort
Q: I'm sad because you said there is a universally hated case in the second game and I figured there are only 4 and the first two aren't it and neither is the fourth so it has to be the third but then I realized that Edgy is on the cover of the game so he should be in at least half of it so he might reappear in the worse one and I am sad
back to game
Q: LIAR YOU DID HAVE YOUR LICENSE THAT IS HOW THEY RECONSTRUCTED YOUR FACE
Q: “newb”
now this sounds like 2016
Q: how do you NOT know what the UK is you s***ty excuse for a judge
I'm so mad i started being mean to the judge I should direct it to Franz for being a jerk
BF: hahaha don't worry so much about that. I'm not going to say how it plays out, but I think you'll be pleased.
Q: yessss
BF: and the third case is the one that people generally don't like: I personally think it's interesting, but it DOES have some issues.
Q: dangit
well hopefully I can like it
BF: I'm going to let you make up your own mind on it, yeah.
Q: aaalllirght
BF: I'll tell you afterwards what I actually LIKE about it, okay?
Q: alright!
Q: WAIT SO
MINI IS PRETENDING TO BE HER SISTER HUH...
Q: aw hi mimi
Q: Fanz let me explain this to you: The Von Karma family is full of assholes you all deserve to die before they cause as much suffering as your father did
ya I'm going to call the cops on your for physical assult
are we allowed to tell Maya that Mia has been possesing her a lot
Q: game you know what the date and time is  if you just don't want me to know tell me
So the games are just becoming more and more about magic huh
the end of the chapter this doesn't feel finished

Someone To Stay
Original story by fairytales1896
Spencer x fem reader
7. Meet Me In The Woods
Y/N POV:
Tumblr media
