The (Personal) Is (Political)

Or, Dear Microsoft and OpenAI: Your Filters Can't Stop Me From Saying Things: An interactive exercise in why all art is political and game of Spot The Symbols

A rare piece I consider Fully Finished simply as a jpeg, though I may do something physical with it regardless. "Director commentary" below, but I strongly encourage you to go over this and analyze it yourself before clicking through, then see how much your reading aligns with my intent.

Elements I told the model to add and a brief (...or at least inexhaustive) overview of why:

Anime style and character figures - Frequently associated with commercial "low" art and consumer culture, in East Asia and the English-speaking world alike, albeit in different ways - justly or otherwise. There is frequently an element of racism to the denigration of anime styles in the west; nearly any American artist who has taken formal illustration classes can tell you a story of being told that anime style will only hinder them, that no one will hire them if they see anime, or even being graded more harshly and scrutinized for potential anime-esque elements if they like anime or imply that they may like anime - including just by being Asian and young. On the other hand, it is true that there is a commercial strategy of "slap an anime girl on it and it will sell". The passion fans feel for these characters is genuine - and it is very, very exploitable. In fact, this commercialization puts anime styles in particular in a very contentious position when it comes to AI discussions!

Dark-skinned boy with platinum and pink [and blue] hair - Racism and colorism! They're a thing, no matter how much the worst people in the world want you to think they're long over and "critical race theory" is the work of evil anti-American terrorists! I chose his appearance because I knew that unless I was incredibly lucky, I would have to fight with this model for multiple hours to get satisfactory results on this point in particular - and indeed I did. It was an interesting experience - what didn't surprise me was how much work it took me to get a skin color darker than medium-dark tan; what did surprise me was that the hair color was very difficult to get right. In anime art, for dark skin to be matched with light hair and eyes is common enough to be...pretty problematic. Bing Image Creator/Dall-E, on the other hand, swings completely in the opposite direction and struggles with the concept of giving dark-skinned characters any hair color OTHER than black, demanding pretty specific phrasing to get it right even 70% of the time. (I might cynically call this yet another illustration against the pervasive copy-paste myth...) There is also much to say about the hair texture and facial features - while I was pleased to see that more results than I expected gave me textured hair and/or box braids without me asking for it, those were still very much in the minority, and I never saw any deviation from the typical anime facial structures meant to illustrate Asian and white characters. Not even once!

Pink and blue color palette - Our subject is transgender. Bias self-check time: did you make that association as quickly as you would with a light-skinned character, or even Sylveon?

Long hair, cute clothes, lots of accessories - Styling while transmasc is a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation, doubly so if you're not white. In many locations, the medical establishment and mainstream attitude demands total conformity to the dominant culture's standard conventional masculinity, or else "revoking your man card" isn't just a joke meant to uphold the idea that men are "better" than women, but a very real threat. In many queer communities, especially online, transmascs are expected to always be cute femboys who love pink (while transfems are frequently degraded and seen as threats for being butch), and being Just Some Guy is viewed as inherently a sign of assimilationism at best and abusiveness at worst. It is an eternal tug-of-war where "cuteness" and ornamentation are both demanded and banned at the same time. Black and brown people are often hypermasculinized and denied the opportunity to even be "cute" in the first place, regardless of gender. Long hair and how gender is read into it is extremely culture-dependent; no matter what it means to you, if anything, the dominant culture wherever you are will read it as it likes.

Trophies and medals - For one, the trans sports Disk Horse has set feminism back by nearly 50 years; I'm barely a Real History-Remembering Adult and yet I clearly remember a time when the feminist claim about gender in sports was predominantly "hey, it's pretty fucked up that sports are segregated by sex rather than weight class or similar measures, especially when women's sports are usually paid much less and given weirdly oversexualized uniforms," but then a few loud living embodiments of turds in the punch bowl realized that might mean treating trans people fairly and now it's super common for self-proclaimed feminists - mostly white ones - to claim that the strongest woman will still never measure up to the weakest man and this is totally a feminist statement because they totally want to PROTECT women (with invasive medical screenings on girls as young as 12 to prove they're Really Women if they perform too well, of course). For two, Black and brown people are stereotyped as being innately more sporty, physically strong, and, again, Masculine(TM) than others, which frequently intersects with item 1...and if you think it only affects trans women, I am sorry my friend but it is so much worse and more extensive than you think.

Hearts - They mean many things. Love. Happiness. Cuteness. Social media engagement?

TikTok - A platform widely known and hated around these parts for its arcane and deeply regressive algorithm; I felt it deserved to be name/layout/logodropped for reasons that, if they're not clear already, should become so in the final paragraph.

Computers, cameras and cell phones - My initial specification was that one of the phones should be on Instagram and another on TikTok, which the model instead chose to interpret as putting a TikTok sticker on the laptop, but sure, okay. They're ubiquitous in the modern day, for better and for worse. For all the debate over whether phones and social media are Good For Us or Bad For Us, the fact of the matter is, they seem to be a net positive-to-neutral, whose impacts depend on the person - but they do still have major drawbacks. The internet is a platform for conspiracy theories and pseudoscience and dangerous hoaxes to spread farther than ever before. Social media culture leaves many people feeling like we're always being watched and every waking moment of our lives must be Perfect - and in some senses, we are always being watched these days. Digital privacy is eroding by the day, already being used to enforce all the most unjust laws on the books, which leads to-

Pigs - I wrote the prompt with the intention that it would just be a sticker on the laptop, but instead it chose to put them everywhere, and given that I wanted to make a somewhat stealthy statement about surveillance, especially of the marginalized...thanks for that, Dall-E! ;)

Alligators - A counter to the pigs; a short-lived antifascist symbol after...this.

Details I did not intend but love anyway:

The blue in the hair - I only prompted for platinum and pink in the hair, but the overall color palette description "bled" over here anyway, completing the trans flag, making it even more blatant, and thus even more effective as a bias self-check.

The Macbook - I only specified a laptop. Hilariously ironic, to me, that a service provided through Bing interpreted "laptop" as "Macbook" nearly every time. In my recent history, 22 out of 24 attempts show, specifically, a Macbook. Microsoft v. OpenAI divorce arc when? ;) But also, let us not forget Apple's role in the ever-worsening sanitization of the internet. A Macbook with a TikTok sticker (or, well, a Tiikok sticker - recognizable enough) - I can think of little more emblematic of one of the main things I was complaining about, and it was a happy accident. Or perhaps an unhappy one, considering what it may imply about Apple's grip on culture and communications.

Which brings me to my process:

Generated over ~7 hours with Dall-E 3 through Bing Image Creator - The most powerful free tool out there for txt2img these days, as well as a nightmare of filters and what may be the most disgustingly, cloyingly impersonal toxic positivity I've ever witnessed from a tool. It wants to be Art(TM), yet it wants to ban Politics(TM); two things which are very much incompatible - and so, I wanted to make A Controversial Statement using only the most unflaggable, innocuous elements imaginable, no matter how long it took.

All art is political. All life is political. All our "defaults" are cultural, and therefore political. Anything whatsoever can be a symbol.

If you want all art to be a substance-free "look at the pretty picture :)" - it doesn't matter how much you filter, buddy, you've got a big storm coming.

Fern and Sylvie are your pokemon, a female Leafeon, and a female Sylveon. Your newly adopted shiny Eevee, Berry, is curled up on your chest where you’re laying on your bed, and the weight of him rising and falling with your breaths is very comforting.

Just gotta get through these damn cramps.

It only takes another minute until you hear a knock on your door, and your pokemon work together and open it, revealing your ever-so-wonderful boyfriend who insists on staying over every time you get your period.

You smile and raise a hand from under your blanket. “Hi Arven.”

He smiles back, and sets two plastic bags down on your kitchen counter.

“Hi Bug. Want me to warm up your heat pack?” he gestures at the lavender heat bag on top of your stomach, then starts unpacking various sandwich ingredients and snacks from the bags.

“It’s still warm at the moment. Thank you, though.” you shift Berry into your arms and sit up, wincing at the stabbing pain that hits you.

“Oof…”

Arven looks over immediately. “You okay? Try not to move too quickly. It’ll- Oh, of course you two have seen them already!”

You laugh as Fern and Sylvie reach up with their front paws to try and get some of the fruit on the counter. Arven hands them each a slice of banana, then tucks the now empty bags away.

From your bed, you can see: kiwi, banana, and strawberry slices in little pots- you’re guessing they’re for your pokemon since Arven knows very well that they go nuts for them.

Then there’s half a block of cheese, pickle spread, lettuce, mayo, avocado, and two tubs of your favourite battered chicken. Add several bags of caramel popcorn and a 2litre bottle of iced tea, and you can confidently say that you have once again been absolutely spoiled.

You know by now not to ask if you can pay Arven back, he'll never let you. Even when it’s not the time of the Red Falls, he insists on making you food and never tells you how much the ingredients cost him.

It’s an incredibly sweet gesture that you return by making him cupcakes. You’re not on his level of sandwich making, but you can make pretty good cupcakes, so you give him a batch every two weeks.

Berry headbutts your chin and chirps, so you pet between his ears and watch as Arven starts making you some food.

“So which sandwich do you want first? There’ll be some to go in the fridge as well, I got extra of everything, so you can pick any of your favourites.”

You smile at him happily, very very grateful. “Thanks Arven. Can I have… Avocado chicken? Please?”

He smiles back at you, hands already working. “Sure thing. Get comfy, okay?”

You nod and shift into the corner of your bed, Berry now on your stomach on top of your heat pack, and Fern and Sylvie are next to you curled up into your side.

There’s something very comforting about having your pokemon and your boyfriend here while you’re seriously not feeling well.

Arven had already sent you tons of messages today, each incredibly sweet and reminding you of how ‘handsome and strong’ you are, and that you’re ‘tougher than all the other guys since they don’t have to bleed for a week straight’.

It helped with the self doubt that hit when you first woke up, and reminded you that ‘ohmygod I love my boyfriend so much’.

It doesn’t take that long until Arven presents you a plate with an avocado-chicken sandwich, and the sight alone makes your stomach growl.

“Enjoy! It should make your stomach hurt less once you've eaten. Oh, and,” he hands you the bottle of iced tea, “Remember to drink something too. Okay, Cuddle Bug?”

You can’t help the dopey smile that you make when you hear the full version of your nickname. Your love language is hugs, and that was apparent even when you and Arven were only friends. Naturally, your nickname reflects that now you are officially together.

Even when you have to go only an hour without seeing each other, you can’t help hugging him as soon as you see him again.

He gives great hugs, too.

You nod, Arven starts making more sandwiches, and you take a bite of the one you have.

“Mmn! This is so good! Thank you!” you give Arven a thumbs up as you eat, and he grins at you.

“Glad you like it! It’s important that you eat when you’re not feeling great, but it’s equally important it tastes good!”

You finish your sandwich in 6 minutes, then drink about a third of your iced tea (you don’t know how you didn’t realise you were so thirsty).

“Want another one?”

You think for a minute, then accept a cheese and pickle sandwich. The rest of them go in the fridge since Arven made you three of both, plus three chicken-mayo-lettuce sandwiches too.

He puts the popcorn in the drawer next to your bed, then sits next to you as you finish your food and holds your free hand.

“Feeling any better?”

You finish your last bite and nod. “Yeah, I am. The cramps don’t hurt as bad. Still got a little bit of a headache though. I’ll just drink some more.”

“I can get you another drink once you’re done. I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better though.”

Arven takes your plate and puts it on the floor, then the same with your drink, and then lays down with you and hugs you.

You snuggle into him, Fern and Sylvie moving to lay by your feet.

“Thank you Arven. I love you.”

“Love you too, Bug.”

F/O Headcanons: Pokemon Universe Edition!

(More will be added with time)

(Also, many of these are inspired from headcanons I’ve previously read, so you may recognize them. Unfortunately, most of these have been in my phone for a long time so I don’t remember some of the original sources; if you do though, please message me so I can give proper credits)

Aromatisse tend to make potpurri nests

Nessa and Raihan are cousins.

Leon does not know how to break open a safe or pick locks… Hop knows how to do both. In fact Hop has numerous skills that are also a little shady.

It’s hard keeping a Riolu at their beginning stage because they are very loving, loyal and friendly pokemon. Don’t give your kid a Riolu because you will be taking care of a Lucario.

Phantump can possess all kinds of tree stumps (fruit trees, redwoods, birch trees, etc.). This gives them some natural variation in appearance.

Kirlia will often "intern" under Gallade and Gardevoir in order to enhance their psychic abilities. Which one a Kirlia trains under is thought to influence its evolution if male.

Magikarp are popular among breeders because they have a good amount of variation and produce lots of eggs. You can get Magikarp/Gyarados in various colors and patterns because of this. This is also true among Rattata, but they’re less popular due to people considering them weak and boring.

Absol are known for being paranoid. They are extremely protective of their trainers and will try to prevent any negative thing from happening to them, even if that thing is "leaf blows into their face" or something equally mundane.

Sylveon and Umbreon get along surprisingly well because they're both stealth hunters.

One popular textile company uses a stylized Leavanny for their logo.

Modern Pokeballs create simulations for the Pokemon inside that make them feel like they're in a large environment. In addition to making the Pokeball feel extra comfortable, they also help keep the Pokemon enriched.

Eevee and their evolutions arguably have the cutest courtship rituals on the planet. They start off by showing interest with short yips and sniffing, studying each other. After that, play-fighting ensues. When that's done, the pair share tiny kisses on the cheek.

Umbreon can spray poison from their rings. They can poison themselves if they breathe it in accidentally due to not being poison-types, but the toxins are pretty mild.

Leavanny can fly, but only for very short distances and not very far off the ground.

A popular rumor states that the more powerful the Lucario the more black they have on their bodies, but there's nothing scientific to back up this claim.

There are some that believe that Fidough evolve faster when around fire-type Pokemon. This claim has yet to be scientifically backed, however.

Young Vulpix will actively try to get their trainers to "hold their paw for reassurance.

The Leavanny line becomes incredibly agitated if they don't have any materials to "sew" with, so make sure they have access to plenty of greenery.

Absol live in isolation out in the wild, only coming together to breed and take care of their pups.

Jolteon oddly prefer sparkling water. Many theorize that the breed generally prefer foods that cause ‘tingly’ sensations as it’s similar to the hum of electricity.

Legendary and guardian pokemon in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos are so rarely seen they are thought of as myths. Meanwhile the Tapu guardians in Alola have shown up in people's backyards to mess around with their sprinklers and lawn ornaments.

Luxray are used as police or medical Pokemon in Sinnoh due to their ability to see through objects and strong stature. They are good at finding and retrieving victims and people who need assistance. Along with that they can be trained to listen for heartbeats and give electricity in a way similar to an AED.

There is a superstition in Johto that if an Eevee jumps into a child's crib, the child is blessed. Often times for baby showers, the mother is gifted an Eevee egg for this very reason. When the kit hatches, it is left in the room with the baby. If the Eevee stays by the child's side, but outside the crib, the child is destined to be average and live a normal life. However, if the Eevee jumps inside the crib and sleeps next to the child, the child will be blessed with fortune, prosperity, and joy.

It's thought that having someone with a positive aura take care of Riolu eggs helps them to hatch faster.

Eevees tend to mimic the personality and habits of their trainers. If their trainer tends to be energetic, the Eevees will get a share of that energy too. If, on the other hand, the trainer tends to be more on the relaxed and a bit lazy side the Eevees will behave like that too.

Popplio are frequently used for public performances and other forms of entertainment. It works out nicely, as it serves as excellent enrichment for them

Swablu's soft, cotton-y down is a favorite filler for pillows, especially because they shed it often. Nowadays it's more common to find synthetic substitutes.

Eevee’s love to be groomed and accessorized, especially on their tail. They don't like baths though but they groom themselves well.

Hisuian Growlithe/Arcanine are still found in some volcanic regions, but they are incredibly rare and protected under law.

A group of Chingling/Chimecho are known as a gong.

While Vulpix and Ninetales have incredible fur, harming one is considered bad luck and, in some areas, sacrilegious.

🚫 Joker Out Pokémon Types and Teams: A Very Important Thread 🚫

(A thread made by your resident OG Pokemon fan. I did my best to give each of the lads a Mega evolution, an Eeveelution as well as a plausible starter Pokemon.)

Bojan - Fairy type ✨

Mischievous, ethereal and charming

Starter Pokémon: Chimchar/Infernape

Actual first Pokémon: Growlithe/Arcanine

He definitely has a couple of fire-types that allude to his sexiness.

Tinkaton, Diancie and Sylveon are little but fierce, just like him. DO NOT mess with them.

Arcanine and Ninetales are puppies!

Diancie suits him. A tiny diamond princess who’s a sight to behold and screams “look at me”? Absolutely a Bojan-coded Pokémon.

Kris - Psychic Type ⚜️

Elegant, intelligent and such a slay

Starter Pokémon: Fennekin/Delphox

Actual First Pokémon: Ralts/Gallade

C'MON GUYS, Gallade has cake. A huge cake. Looks very princely too. He’s a much better fit for Kris than Gardevoir!

Hatterene is SUCH a Kris-coded Pokémon. Tall, beautiful and they even share a default expression!

Milotic is a fitting, beautiful tallmon. Naturally such a beauty would suit Kris!

Kris mentioned that he prefers light over darkness, hence Psychic types in general and Espeon in particular.

Jan - Dark Type 💀

Mysterious, sexy and edgy

Starter Pokémon: Sprigatito/Meowscarada

Actual First Pokémon: Deino/Hydreigon

Houndoom has sexy incubus vibes. One cannot have an appropriate Jan team without a Pokémon that gives off incubus vibes.

Weavile and Umbreon are appropriate black cat coded Pokémon.

He's the only one with the patience to slowly raises a Deino all the way to Hydreigon. Even if the little Deino is clumsy and blind, and evolves so late, he perseveres (and thus also shows his soft side). Also, imagine little Jan and Deino with their matching hairstyles!

Jan mentioned that he prefers darkness over light, hence the Dark type in general and Umbreon in particular.

Jure - Electric Type ⚡️

Energetic, chaotic and playful

Starter Pokémon: Pikachu/Raichu

Actual First Pokémon: Shinx/Luxray

Rotom is a chaotic gremlin, of course Jure would have one! And he does switch between all its forms from time to time.

Luxray and Zeraora are big cats!

Ampharos may be cute...but it's a dragon and is capable of VERY dangerous things, so please do not piss it off.

Jolteon is SUCH a Jure coded Eeveelution. Chaotic? Swift as lightning? Charming in its own way? Yup.

Nace - Ground Type 🍂

Strong, steady and reliable

Starter Pokémon: Turtwig/Torterra

Actual First Pokémon: Teddiursa/Ursaluna

Of course Gengar makes it on his team. A Nace coded team is not a proper Nace coded team without Gengar!

Ursaluna is 100% a Nace Pokemon...FIGHT ME. Just look at it! A fierce looking bear that also looks like it could give nice hugs to its owner? Sounds just like Nace in Pokémon form.

He absolutely has the temperament to deal with a powerhouse like Garchomp.

Leafeon is nurturing, but also has immense strength for a small Pokémon - it’s strong enough to split trees. 100% the Nace-coded Eeveelution.

Martin - Steel Type ⚙️

Logical, dignified and protective

Starter Pokémon: Piplup/Empoleon

Actual First Pokémon: Porygon/Porygon-Z

Metagross is just as intelligent as Martin is, and despite being hell to catch, Martin managed to work out a strategy and caught it in a Beast Ball, no less!

Martin has a very kind heart, and this kind heart means that he would never abandon his very first Pokémon that he programmed, a Porygon that evolved into Porygon-Z, even when it starts acting quirky!

He's such a king, of course Pokemon such as Kingdra and Aegislash would suit him.

He has some Water-types to reflect his caring, levelheaded side. Vaporeon is the Eeveelution that suits him most, due to its qualities.

Chance: So, you may be wondering, “How on earth are you gonna show a death battle? Is that not too gruesome for TV?” And I say don’t you all worry your pretty little heads. This battle royal is simulated, meaning the contestants will not feel a thing. As it’s styled like The Hunger Games, the aim of the game is to be the last one to survive! Chance: Oh ho! A bit of smack talk from one of the contestants! This will be exciting! I wonder if the other contestants are feeling as confident or whether their nerves are getting the best of them!

(The 200 follower event is a go! Each week, I will post what the simulator mentions on it and add some drawings about what’s happened. As I said, I’m not gonna make them gruesome or serious. It will be in a comedic tone with slapstick-styled “deaths”.

so fairy types in general are pretty risky beasts to approach, let alone wrangle, not unlike their sister type Psychic. though thankfully 1) most wild specimens can only be found in select areas, being just as rare to randomly encounter as psychic types 2) most species are pretty disinterested in humans unless purposefully disturbed in some way.

now, lets talk about sylveon. like umbreon and espeon, these basically never occur in the wild. there is a small number of wild reports, though 99% of the time these turn out to be feral or lost espeon/umbreon. sylveon is even rarer, due to the bonding required to even evolve it in the first place. nobody in their right mind would just Release this animal theyve spent time caring for and forming a strong friendship with, especially one like sylveon.

but say due to some dire circumstance, or horrible mistake, or some other wild scenario, that you end up with a feral sylveon. what is that like?

its akin to letting your cat outside to destroy local wildlife populations, but your cat is not just an insanely successful predator; its a successful predator with psychic abilities that can detect and manipulate the mental states of other living things. now lets remove you from the scenario, your cat is on its own out in the wild without the one person it cared about most deeply.

it doesnt need to find other humans to give it food, and it isnt going to be interested in making new friends to replace the important one it lost. all it cares about now is food. and being such a succesful hunter, it can probably clear out an area of most viable prey in record time. and when you start really emptying a place out, it leaves what would usually be 'too much trouble' in terms of food sources...

Zorua!Desmond AU

(Based off of this post between myself and @teecupangel ! This will definitely have more parts to it, as I’ll be using Codextober as an inspiration for the chapters so I’m not flying totally blind like with my Sylveon!Desmond AU.)

At this point in life, Desmond only cared for two things: his Pokémon companion and his ancestors. He was going to sacrifice himself for the world anyways, so why should he care about his father? Or Shaun and Rebecca?

No matter what Desmond tried to tell himself, he knew it was hopeless. He cared for them. So he sent them away before activating the Eye. So they didn’t have to watch his death.

He ordered Shaun to bring Sneak with him. Sneak being the one Pokémon companion Desmond kept from his early days at The Farm. The other Pokémon his father forced him to train had been freed when he ran away, or more likely given to other novices.

Desmond refused to use his Pokémon to fight solely on his behalf like other “trainers” in the modern day did. He preferred to use his fists alongside his Pokémon. He and Sneak were two sides of a coin, true partners to the end.

But Sneak deserved to live a long, healthy life. Tears started to pool in Desmond’s eyes as he approached the Eye and raised his hand. Taking a slow breath, he touched the Eye just as a black and red blur ran past him to also touch the Isu device.

Pain engulfed Desmond’s arm and he screamed as hot molten lava flowed through his veins. Something registered in his mind, a series of words that didn’t make sense as the pain scrambled his brain.

No! I need to be with him, I can’t let Desmond be alone again! I promised him!

A sickly boy lay in bed, coughing harshly while his mother hovered over him with a wet cloth and the foul-tasting medicine the dottore had prescribed. Struck with fever in the night, the boy had remained ill for two days. This day, his mother hovered yet again, and while the boy dearly loved his mother he was getting sick of being bed bound.

One of his elder brothers promised to return with something fun for the boy and the boy waited to see what his brother would bring him, entertaining himself by trying to guess what the young lad would bring.

“Oh Petrucco!” Sang his elder brother, holding his bag in his arms. “I have brought you a present, fratello!” He barged into the room and Petrucco’s eyes immediately fell upon the bag in his older brother’s arms.

“I… liberated him from the Pazzi cazzo that tried to attack me on my way to the church.” Petrucco giggled at the blatant lie his brother tried to give him.

“Oh Ezio…” Their mother sighed and shook her head fondly. “Now, I must go run an errand. Ezio, look after your little brother please.” She gave Ezio a knowing look that Ezio simply grinned cheekily at.

“Goodbye Mama!” Petrucco called as Ezio waved. When she shut the door behind her, Petrucco bounced in impatience. “What did you get me, Ezio? Show me, show me!”

A muffled yip came from the bag and Petrucco gasped as a fluffy white and red head poked out of Ezio’s satchel. It’s front paw was completely blackened, almost as if it had rotted but not fallen off. And without the smell.

“What is it?” Petrucco asked softly, crawling to the edge of his bed for a better look.

“I thought you were the aspiring Trainer, piccolo uccello.” Ezio teased, sitting himself and the bag with the Pokémon onto Petrucco’s bed. The Pokémon sniffed the air before hesitantly hopping out of the bag to sniff Petrucco.

Petrucco held his hand still for the Pokémon to sniff. It chirped and looked up at him.

“Now,” Ezio grinned, brandishing a small bag in front of himself, “time to find what this little guy will eat.” He handed the bag over to Petrucco who put his hand inside and pulled out a handful of Berries.

A long-standing tradition, even longer than the Auditore name, gaining a Pokémon’s trust by showing that you’d care for it and treat it well. Not everyone followed the tradition, in fact the Auditores were put under scrutiny several times for it. People these days prefer to just catch Pokémon with Pokeballs and simply use their Pokémon for battle.

But Petrucco knew that to have a Pokémon was a sign of responsibility. Ezio trusted he could take care of another living creature, as sickly as he was most days. His heart warmed for his older brother’s love.

The Pokémon sniffed at the Berries, looked at Petrucco, then back down at the Berries. It hesitantly took a red Berry and slowly ate it. Its eyes lit up and it nuzzled Petrucco’s hand with a happy yip.

Petrucco yawned, suddenly feeling all his excitement give way to exhaustion. He put the rest of the Berries in the bag before handing it back to his older brother. The Pokémon on his lap chirped before circling on Petrucco’s lap, laying down.

Ezio smiled. “I’ll leave you two be.” He said softly, standing up and quietly easing his way out of Petrucco’s room. Petrucco smiled as he quickly fell into slumber. He’d have to figure out a way to properly thank Ezio for this amazing gift.

Every Auditore could see how Petrucco’s life improved with his new companion at his side. After pouring through the family library, Petrucco learned his companion was a Zorua. He promptly named the Zorua Desmond and the two were inseparable. Desmond and Petrucco were a common sight together, getting into mischief on the days Petrucco felt strong enough to leave bed. On the days he was bed-ridden, Petrucco enjoyed Desmond’s company as the Pokémon entertained his Trainer the best he could.

Sometimes Federico and Ezio would stop by and teach Petrucco things about battling, using their own Pokémon to train both boy and companion. Federico’s Farfetch’d and Ezio’s Eevee started out easy on the inexperienced duo, stepping up the pace as Petrucco took to battling like a Magikarp to water. Soon, Petrucco and Desmond wiped the floor with the elders, even if Petrucco suspected they were making it easier for him to win by not using their full strength.

While Petrucco’s mind grew sharper and his bond with Desmond grew deeper, ultimately it wasn’t enough as he was awoken by gruff guards and brought alongside his Father and eldest brother to the gallows. The only thing on Petrucco’s mind was Desmond as the executioner placed the noose around his tiny neck.

Please, Lord. Don’t leave him alone. Make sure he’s safe. Let Desmond live.

Noir called out to the mismagius seeing the face as he gulped "You are wisteria correct ?" he asked almost carefully the feeler reaching out to the ghost type giving soft caress on cheek "What happened...?" he was stunned to see the emotionless pokemon before shaking his head pulling Ivy in a gentle hug "Sorry, I didnt mean to ask so bluntly... I feel like you need this..." he chuckled softly "Im here for you, you know ?"

Ivy seemed to calm down at the Sylveon's reassuring words, she just nervously looked away and muttered a faint "I'm sorry."

She cringed as his ribbon touched her cheek, for some odd reason, the ghost was expecting something worse. Though she wasn't sure why. From what she could recall about him, Noir wasn't a cruel or mean Pokemon. Though she couldn't be sure, her memories of them were a bit hazy.

Ivy instantly backed away at the question, she looked like she was about to say something but quickly went silent. Her gaze fell to the floor as she refused to answer. Noir didn't seem to push the matter either much to her relief. However, She didn't have time to react before Noir pulled her into a loving but firm hug.

She quietly sniffled as tears began streaming down her face, it'd been so long since she cried. Years even, now that she was she couldn't seem to stop herself. As all the memories began to flood back Ivy cuddled into Noir's hug, despite the sudden emotional pain she was hit with, she was glad someone she knew from the past was here to at least soothe it.

Read the reader headcannons of them being afraid of Pokémon and it gave me an idea. How bout a Serena x Reader. Like the reader is a coordinator as well so they compete to see who could get the contest ribbons first. Though as time went on Serena’s Sylveon has been trying to get her make a move. You know as its ribbons enables them to know their trainer’s feelings.

You and Serena were childhood friends, traveling buddies, and extreme Pokemon Contest rivals. The two of you would go toe-to-toe in every Contest you competed in together. And since Serena uses a Sylveon, her Pokemon is able to sense her deepest emotions. Now, usually, this is seen as a fantastic thing that allows Sylveon and its Trainer to bond and become an even more powerful duo. However, one specific feeling that you and Serena experience has made Sylveon incredibly mischievous behind your backs. She would inform your own Pokemon, Leafeon, about the situation and Leafeon would observe you, deducing that you felt the same. Due to this, in the past, Sylveon and Leafeon have tried to get their respective Trainers to finally admit their romantic feelings for each other. There have been brute force methods, like Sylveon trying to use Charm on you to make your feelings blatant. Subtle methods were also employed, such as Leafeon growing a beautiful and romantic garden for you and Serena to have a picnic in. Nothing worked. It has absolutely infuriated the two of them that their Trainers stew on mutual emotions and do nothing about it!

At one point, after a particularly intense Contest, you and Serena would be walking with your Pokemon, her Sylveon and your Leafeon. The two of you were specifically hunting for new Contest attire in Lumiose City that would up your “style” factor. In a crowd, however, you got separated from your friend and partner Pokemon. It was just you and Sylveon. The Pokemon would nudge your legs, and you allowed it, thinking she was guiding you in the direction she sensed Serena. After a few minutes, though, you found yourself in front of a high-end clothing boutique with Sylveon herding you inside. She bounded over to different clothes and accessories that were not really your taste, so at this point you were thoroughly confused. You would ask Sylveon, “Why are you showing me all of this? Like, what’s going on? Is Serena here?” The Pokemon would just huff in annoyance and continue her task.

You would understand, though, when you analyzed everything Sylveon was showing you. It was all Serena’s style. And it was all pretty… romantic to boot. You wondered why Sylveon would be showing you these types of romantic gifts for Serena? Unless… she knew that Serena would like it. At that thought, a blush blossomed across your face, and you covered your cheeks with your hands. It suddenly made sense looking at the past few weeks of your Pokemon’s shenanigans, Sylveon was trying to get you to buy a gift to give your friend so that you could confess your crush. You would bend down and whisper at Sylveon, “I know what you’re doing. Please don’t make me do it.” Sylveon would swipe at your hand, pressing her forehead to yours and growling. Okay, okay. Sylveon’s gonna be pushy, you thought. I’ll just buy something and give it to her secretly without saying anything.

You ended up picking out a lovely silver necklace with a stunning faux-ruby pendant (ah, Contest Coordinator budget). You figured since Serena loved wearing the color red, if you were being held hostage by Sylveon to get something it might as well be something she’ll actually use. The Pokemon bounded off in the direction of Prism Tower with you struggling to keep up. When you arrived, Serena was already sitting on a bench with Leafeon, a blush dusting her face.

“Here, I got this for you!” she would shout, standing up straighter than a pole and bowing, holding a small box out to you. In wonder, you took it, seeing a very similar necklace to yours, gold with a sapphire-looking gem. Your own blush blossoms, and you wordlessly give her your necklace. Serena stares at it in awe, Leafeon nudging her leg. She blurts out, “I really like you, you know!”

Now that really surprised you. She… likes you back? You affirm her feelings and let her know you feel the same. As you two are blushing messes underneath Prism tower, Leafeon and Sylveon giggle behind their paws on the side, watching you two finally resolve your unspoken feelings with their latest trick.

“This should be ok for you and your creature for the time being, Now I should return to my research. Do try to find some way to busy yourself. But don’t let me catch you wandering the campus! Ta ta!”

And he disappeared in the air, when he gone she say "Rotom come out please"

"Good morning master" a Rotomphone fly out of her bag

"Hello Rotom can you help me with something"

"Sure what is it? master"

"can you somehow connect to our PC back home?"

"Of course master!!" as Rotom finish saying Rotom being to try to connect the PC, while Rotom doing that Florida take out all her pokemon out "Come on out guys!!"

There is a Gogoat, Sableye, Gallade, Goodra and Haxorus come out of their ball as they come out they cry their name out

"Sylveon!"[Hello everyone!]

"Sa sableye?"[Where are we?]

"We somehow go into a different world for now I want Gogoat, Gallade and Sableye help me find some cleaning supplies"

"Gogoat!!" "Gal!!" "Sa!!" [Of course master]

"Ok Haxorus and Goodra I want you as a look out for outsider or anything"

"Haxorus!" "Dra!"[Yes master]

"Now Sylveon will be with me just in case"

"Sylveon"[Ok mom]

At that's all the pokemon except Sylveon go do their job that gives by Florida, some moment later Sylveon heard something.

They watched the rain until there was a sound coming from outside that got Florida and Sylveon’s attention.

“GWAH! It’s raining out here!” a familiar voice, Florida look at where the sound coming from to see the fire cat pokemon, Grim again “Oh my Arceus”

Grim have saw Haxorus and Goodra “Nya!? How many monsters do you have?”

"I don't know never count them before” Florida told Grim as she go pets Sylveon to calm down. "But how you get in here again though"

Grim looked so prideful “Of course I would just sneak back onto campus the second I got kick out, You got no idea what I’m capable of, I'm not giving up on going here just cause I got kicked out one time”

“you got a lot of spirit I can tell that but why want to go to this school anyway?” Florida asked.

“Isn’t it obvious? I was born to do this! I'll become one of the greatest mages who ever lived! So I’ve been waiting and waiting for that black carriage to come for me. And yet” his eyes started to have some tears. “Hrmph! That Dark Mirror’s got no eye for talent! That’s why I came here by myself. You humans don’t understand what a mistake you all making! by not letting me in. This is a great loss to the World!”

A rain drop from the ceiling drop onto Grim face as he jumped. “Nya! C’mon, please let me stay inside, I’m getting dripped on here!”

This made Florida let out a chuckles.

"Ah, indeed! It seems I'll have to repair the roof too" She said as more drops came from the ceiling.

“Ah! Another hole in the roof!” Grim cried as he took cover. “ These flaming ears are like my signature, you know? I can’t let them get all wet!”

“And here I thought all my fire and rock type pokemon was fussy with water” At that Gogoat, Sableye, Gallade, Goodra and Haxorus come back into the room some with the cleaning supplies

"Go gogoat"[We have the cleaning supplies master]

"Good job guys and what about you Rotom?"

"Buzz Rotom have connect to our PC back home, which pokemon you need?"

"Ok well I need all other the eeveelutions, Cinccino, Blissey, Quagsire, Gardevoir, Leavanny, Chandelure, Eelektross, Joltik and all Lycanroc"

"Ok master" After few minutes pass, some pokeball appear in the air, Grim look so surprised by that.

"Nya? How did you do that???"

"Technology" Florida answer, she take out all pokemon out "Come out guys, I need your help"

As the pokemon come out they confused but one pokemon say.

"Cin cinccino!!"[This place is Not Clean!!]

Both Jolteon and Espeon agree with the chinchilla-like Pokémon.

"Gar? gardevoir"[Master? what do you want us to help with]

"Ah yes, since we're in different world and this place is where we stayed until we can get back home so I think some of you already know who gonna do what"

"Jolteon!!"[Cleaning time!!]

"Yes yes the cleaning supplies is with—"

Cinccino, Jolteon and Espeon already have the cleaning supplies and start to cleaning the house.

"Ok the cleaning team is already do that next is landscape for other pokemon that'll be Leafeon, Vaporeon, Glaceon, Quagsire, Leavanny, Blissey, Gogoat, Sableye, Gallade, Goodra, Haxorus and all Lycanroc you guys know what to do"

"Ly!! lycanroc"[Of course!! Let's go Big bro Nox and sister Layla]

"Lycan!!"[Slow down Saule!!]

All other pokemon follow the 2 Lycanroc outside of the Ramshackle dorm.

"Ok now Chandelure please light this place also explores"

"Chandelure"[Yes Florida]

Chandelure go around make the Ramshackle dorm bright a little bit and have some place to sleep.

"Now is— Gardevoir use Psychic over there" Florida point at the stairs.

The Embrace Pokemon unleashes psychokinetic energy around the stairs revealing 3 ghosts. One of them is giggling.

“Bwa ha ha ha ha ha. You sure have good instincts. It’s been a while since we’ve had guests!!”

“Oh, I’m itching for new friends! ha ha ha ha ha ha!”

“AAAAAH! GHOSTS!!” Grim screamed so loud.

“If you’re so scared of ghosts. How can you will handle my ghosts pokemon” Florida said to Grim. "They look like three marshmallows ghosts with a cute top hats" She said this with gentle voice.

“All the people who used to live here got scared of us and ran away” The average-looking ghosts explained.

“Oh, They did? How rude of them” She know people though about ghost pokemon and real ghosts in a scary way.

“I’m the great Grim! I'll not be afraid of any dumb ghosts! Myahaaa!” He use ember to the ghosts but they immediately dodged.

“Not even close.” The bony ghost said.

"Why would you close your eyes while use ember. Let's my pokemon show how it done. Umbreon, Dark Pulse"

The Moonlight Pokémon start to shoot out black and red energy ball at the ghosts and hit right on the head.

"Ow that somehow hurt" The ghost sounds surprised.

"How did you make it so easy" Grim say in annoying voice “Myah!! I’m Grim, THE GREAT GRIM!!! How come I can’t even hit one of these little—“

The ghost started to laugh at him “Hrmph! Ganging up on us… You all just a cowards!”

"Rest assured, if you gonna to follow my command, your aim will be perfect" She look at her Pokemon. They know that they have to stand back and wait for her command.

“Shut up!” Grim argued. “I don’t need anything from you, human!”

“I’m a trainer and used to be champion this is what I do for a living” Florida say back at Grim “Look, what if you chase them out, the headmaster would let you enroll in here?”

Grim immediately changed his attitude. "so all I have to do is follow your command?"

"Yes follow my command" All the 3 pokemon took their places. Sylveon stand next to Florida, Umbreon let Grim on top of her, Gardevoir also stand next to Florida as well.

“You tell me which way the ghosts are!”

"Yeah yeah. Gardevoir use Psychic get them out of their hiding places"

"Gardevoir"[Of course Master]

Gardevoir unleashes psychokinetic energy and get them out again.

“Ah!!, what are you guys?”

“Are you like us too?!”

"How did they get us out again"

After that, the Pokemons and Grim quickly dealt with the ghosts. With one last ember Grim threw at the ghost, they gave in.

“Aaaahhh! Ok ok you win! We gonna get out of here! Before we'll be disappeared for good!” They all vanished.

"If you want a another round. We shall give you better than this one" She said.

“H-huh? Did we… win?” Grim said in shock. Umbreon make Grim got down from her and go back to Floride's side.

“You all did amazing” She said as she pet her Pokemon then turned to Grim.

“Aw, geez, I was scared out of my—“ He quickly stop and said. “I mean they didn’t scared me one bit! What you got to say now, ghosties? That’s right!”

The Pokemons looked at him weird but also didn't care about it. “Well that's done now the roof—”

The door opened again and the Pokemon ready their attacks again but it was just the headmaster.

“Good evening. In another gesture of my kindness, I have brought you dinner.” He noticed Grim. “ Wait- That’s the creature we ejected for causing trouble at orientation! What is it doing here?!”

“Helping me with the ghosts problem you forgot to told me about” Florida say back at him with an intimidate gaze.

Grim looked surprised but quite confident with the old champion backing him up.

“You’re welcome by the way!”

The headmage looked confused. “What is the meaning of this Miss Lumia? But you know, on that topic, I do recall that this dorm had mischievous ghosts problem. Ah yes… That’s why it was abandoned, in fact because the ghosts scared away all the students”

“And did that fact just gone from your mind when you let me and my friends stay here?” Florida say with an annoyed tone.

“Yes, sorry about that but you were saying that you 2 joined each other forces to make them go away?”

"Yes it still just like a Pokémon battles and that's what I do for a living" She said while petting Sylveon.

“ ’Joined each other forces’ that isn't exactly how I’d describe it. More like I drove them away, and the human watched. And I only did it because I want some tuna”

“Yes, you drove them away with MY command and MY Pokemon’s help”

Crowley looked at her really impressed. “You truly are beast tamer. Would you two be so kind to demonstrate your ghost-eradication methods for me?”

“One no cause I already wiped them all out.” The cat argued. “And two no cause where’s my tuna?!”

“I will play the part of the ghosts. As for the tuna, you’ll receive it when you defeat me.” He smiled. “Oh, what generosity, Crowley…” He then pulled out a bottle of some kind and drink it in one go. The headmaster became ghost

The Pokemon ready themselves up for the next battle again as Grim complained.

“Ahhhhh!! you gotta be kidding me. I gotta work together with the human and her weird monsters again?”

"Stop complaining before I'll ask Sylveon take you out of this dorm and didn't your sole opportunity is to be in this school"

“Hrmph. All right, but this is the last time. And I better be up to my tuna afterward!”

Crowley didn’t last very long. With the combination of Gardevoir use Psychic to make him appear when he vanished. Umbreon use Confuse Ray and Grim use ember and with the help of Florida command them, they quickly able to beat him. The Pokémon didn’t even break a sweat but Grim having a hard time catching his breath.

“Well? how is that? Sir” Florida asked.

“Incredible… I’ve never seen anyone bend monsters to their will quite the way you have” The headmaster muttered and returning to his original form.

“That’s what my job, headmaster" She told him.

“I must confess my educator’s intuition did sense something about you after that accident at orientation. Miss Lumia I could tell you has a certain animal beast trainer that have master-ish quality to you. Oh yes. That said, I…” he kept mumbling to himself while Florida and her pokemon gave him a no reaction look ;-; .

“Really? That was your first clue about my job? About what I do for living?” she said. “Anyway would it be possible for Grim to stay with us?”

“WHAT!? A monster to stay HERE!?”

“Whoa..” Grim say and genuinely touched by her words.

"I'll say it again sir. Please consider allowing Grim to stay in this dorm. He may have fiery temperament but I have had experience dealing with such spirited Pokémon in the past. Therefore even if we try to dismiss him again he would find a way to come back. By letting him to stay, I can assume the responsibility of taking care of him. I asking you kind sir, to grant us this favor."

Crowley sigh. “Hmnn… I suppose I can not deny your favor Very well.”

“Myah?! Really?” Grim yelled as Sylveon gave his trainer an unsure look, but Florida reassured him with smile.

“Let me be clear!” the headmaster interrupted. “Under no circumstances would I admit anyone to Night Raven College who has not been selected by the Dark Mirror especially not a monster! Nor do I intend to allow you Miss Lumia to freeload until you’re able to return home”

“Never should have got my hopes up…” Grim muttered.

“Now allow me to explain. Since the Dark Mirror somehow transported you here. Therefore this school does bear some responsibility for your well-being. So I'll allow you to remain in this dorm free of charge. However you'll need to pay for your own food, clothing, and other stuff. As to how you'll do so penniless as you are…” he thought for a moment.

“Ah Yes, I’ll simply going to ask you to do a few odd jobs around campus. From what you’ve done here, Miss Lumia. I can tell you know your way around a broom. So what do you say to you two working together as a janitorial team? If you agree to that, I will make a special exception and allow you to be on campus. I’ll also allow you to use the library, so that you may study, and research ways to return home. How boundlessly kindness I am. Ah, but only when your work is over, of course!”

Florida sigh. “I guess it can’t be helped. Okay headmaster”

“What?! What kind of deal is that?! I wanna put on one of those sweet uniforms and be a student, not a janitorial!”

“If you’re not satisfied with my offer, I can just have you thrown out again.”

“Myah?!... Alright, fine! Let’s do it.”

“Don't worry Grim” Florida said “With the help of my 3 Pokemon that love to cleaning, we’ll finish everything fast”

“Wonderful, starting from tomorrow morning work as hard as the newest members of Night Raven College’s janitorial staff!”

"Ok sir"

“See you in the morning,”

The masked man was already out the door, “Sleep tight, you’re gonna need it!”

"Time to make the PC now and oh yeah fix the roof too"

"Gardevoir"[I can fix that Master]

After sometime later the ghosts appears again they saw Grim asleep and Florida making Pokémon PC.

“Do you ever sleep?” one of the ghosts ask. “You’ve been working on that machine to midnight”

"I'm almost finished this and I'll go to sleep" She yawn.

“So I hear you’ll be living here from now on” the bony one asked. “Hope you like pranks as much as we do! Ha ha!”

She smiled at them. “I sometimes fondness for pranks but however you need to limit your pranks before one of my Pokémon will start a war pranks.”

She extended her hand to them. “I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself, I am Florida Lumia but you can call me Flor. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

The three ghosts looks with each other, then the average-looking one came forth and put his hand on top of hers. “Pleasure to meet you too young lady. My name is Brody” he first pointed to the large ghost then the bony one. “This is Mason and Philip. To be honest you’re really different from everyone we have met so far”

“Yeah, you’re not scared of us one bit,” Philip spoke up.

“Why should I be scared? My mom is ghosts trainer so I met a lot of ghosts Pokémon" She said and looked at the clock.

"I should go to sleep now" She yawn and pick Grim up and the ghosts giggle and disappear. She go to her bedroom and sleep.

Tomorrow morning she already wake up and making breakfast for her, Grim and all her Pokémon.

I ID mainly as lableless / bi-gay and aroflux aswell as mainly as genderfluid or genderqueer man and many other lables, im also thinking of using cistrans. Im also polykin, alterhuman, a furry and a juggalo, if you want specifics send me an ask! if its not too personal id love to tell you. Im Irish too so if i talk funny you know why lol.

I would prefer if you used my neos over he/him, cus im genderfluid it just kinda helps.

I got to stop thinking of new book ideas ;-;

At least 20 unfinished, unpublished, and unwritten books are just sitting in my drafts. I want to write them so badddddd. But I have to focus on my unfinished oneshots and Darcel X Mellan, AAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Due to new ideas, I'll give out some books that will probably be written in the future sometime. Cause teasers:

- Vaporeon X Umbreon book ( Male Vaporeon and Female Umbreon )

- Shiny! Sylveon X Espeon book ( Both Female )

- Espeon X Glaceon book ( Male Espeon and Female Glaceon )

- Another Pokémon X Pokémon one-shots book. All Pokémon now, eeveelutions are obviously still allowed. ( No humans still, I like my escapism, thank you. )

- Speed X Black fanfic ( After getting back the lore from canon ES and for someone )

- Espeon X Umbreon book which is just " Dogs in Love" ( Espeon is a merciful king, while his boyfriend, Umbreon, commits crimes. They have a Jolteon son afterwards )

- Spyro and Cynder X Dragon! Reader ( two separate books ) ( As there are no fanfics that I could read, I'm making my own. It's based on the original Spyro games and not Skylanders. Used to love Skylanders, but I would like the originals, please. Also, the reader is either Gender-neutral or Male. Idk. )

- Toothless X Skrill! reader ( The reader is FINALLY gender-neutral, plus, isn't a night fury or light fury. Almost all the other Toothless X readers have the reader as Female. Which is rude. )

- Rimworld X WoF crossover? ( I've never played, or heard of it until someone asked to do a collab with it. Everything is still being planned. Also, I totally didn't mistake Rimworld and Rain-World at first. I love Rain World tho, heccing three moons. Hehe * slugcat noises * )

- Whiteout X Gender-neutral! RainWing! Reader book? ( The reader honestly loves how different she is and adores her just the way she is. Plus, I need to know what the RainWings used to be like in Darkstalker's time, at least before they forgor how to. I crave this knowledge )

- Possible Adorabat X Child! Reader???? ( I used to be SOOOOO into Mao Mao. And there are no cute fanfics, so yes. Plus, it would be VERY wholesome, lots of fluff. I still wish they had a second season, used to be my favorite show. Still kinda salty, ngl. )

Also, I'll try to work on my Evil! Moonwatcher sometime soon, I really want to get back into that book.

The life of a writer where your brain loves so many ideas at once is hard. One second, I'm chilling while writing Mellan X Darcel or a WoF X reader request, and then BOOM, I get an amazing idea for a whole new book like EXCUSE ME?!?

Also, I am even now remembering making an alt, so I could write even more fanfics. Almost all of them are WoF related- oops- Maybe I'll remember it in like a couple of months or something, idek. I have too many ideas, can someone tell my brain to chill, please?
