My reading journal/planner is coming together! After hubby gifted me a Kindle Oasis, I *needed* an analog way to track my reading progress, notes, and growing bookshelf list. Shamefully, I’ve completely blown my stationery spending budget for the year (and probably the next few years, TBH), and couldn’t justify purchasing over $60 worth of pre-made planner inserts to build my perfect reading journal.

Enter: DIY Eggbunni. Instead of purchasing whatever I needed, I designed my own! Behold, my very first insert design. *Pats self on back*

It took a bit of fiddling since I wanted to be able to use my favorite fountain pens with it (I needed to adjust the line width a few times in order to fit my favorite nib sizes comfortably, while still keeping it compact and minimalist) And now it’s perfect. 😍 I’ll probably design inserts I want to use myself and create them whenever a new need arises. For my next insert, I’m thinking a reading tracker of some kind! To keep track of whatever I’m currently reading, how much I’ve read per day, and how long it takes me to finish a book. Then maybe a book shelf so I can print out the covers of my books and stick them in? The possibilities are endless!

PS. Please recommend books you think I’d like! I love fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi mostly. Books I’ve enjoyed include Donna Tart: A Secret History, Fairy Tale by Stephen King, and Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

Hi! Did you end up buying a planner?

hello!!! i decided to acquire a travelers notebook and print my own montly inserts so they are not dated. it hasnt arrived yet ): !

since its already october i ended up feeling like buying a 14/18 month planner would be wasteful and i couldnt wait until january! besides ive always wanted to try the tn... it bothers me to throw away my past planners/notebooks but its getting to a point acquiring more would just be silly. i have so many of them lying around and occupying space for nothing!

i hope this change helps me being less wasteful.. im also planning on adding a commonplace insert too so i only have a notebook for everything! hopefully i can store the inserts more easily after i finish writing and it occupies less space.

HAPPY NEW YEAAAAAR, GUYSSSSS!! And yes, it’s now Twenty Twenty Three and it’s time for having a new planner~ yieeee~.

Usually, before the year ends, I buy a planner on a certain shop beforehand, but when pandemic happened, I stopped to buy one and made my own planner instead. And, yes, until now I still do the same. It’s just so addicting and satisfying that whenever I see the planner inserts I make and it being printed in paper, I become proud of myself. hahaha lol.

Anyway, I always use Adobe InDesign in creating my planner inserts because it’s easy to use and convenient to me. For the graphics, I use Adobe Photoshop and Procreate.

I usually use A5 Journal paper with 100gsm but since I didn’t have it the time I printed these planner inserts, I used Oslo paper instead. It’s a little bit rough though but what I like about the paper is its thickness.

I always use A5 size for my inserts because it’s the standard size for planners. 

Anyway, I’m sharing these planner inserts I made for 2023. So if you want to have a copy, here’s the link. The file consists of 2023 cover, monthly planner, monthly checklist, the last time, list, and cashflow. Enjoy planning! :)

Just finished filming a flip-through of my reading journal! I’ll upload it tomorrow. I think there’s a few more inserts I really want to make, but this basic set is perfect for my needs. I’m excited because I designed each one myself! 🥹📖📚
