Ousama Sentai Kingohger Finale Cast Comments - Kings -
=-=-=-=-=
Sakai Taisei (Gira Hastie)
Tumblr media
Thank you very much for this past year! Looking back, I realize I was able to do all these because of so many people holding us up.
Starting from director Kamihoriuchi, who stayed with me through many takes, so many people from the staff, the cast, my manager, different director teams, the stage greeting on Summer Stage last summer, Cho Eiyuusai, the radio and many more…because of Kingohger I was able to encounter so many people. People around us saying "last one was really good!" or "have you eaten yet?", caring for us…it is because of these people that we have somehow got this far.
I will be experiencing various filming venues from here on. We are able to shine in front of the camera because of these people who support us in the shadows. I hope to never forget this feeling of gratitude. And, to be able to give back to everyone, I hope to do my best from here on.
Thank you very much for this past year.
Watanabe Aoto (Yanma Gast)
Tumblr media
Thank you for watching Ousama Sentai Kingohger this past year. I am very happy to be able to run through the main series safely. All thanks to the support of everyone. The TV broadcast ends, but on difficult times, at times when you need courage, just drop by this world again.
We're here.
There is nothing that makes us happier than knowing we were able to give your back a push through this work. Let's meet on this "Chikyu" again someday.
What do you want to be from now on?
Whatever your calling is in life, I think it is best to live with laughter. I hope the kids who watched this work and found me cool even for a little bit would grow up to be cool grown ups. Thank you for your much support this past year.
Murakami Erica (Himeno Ran)
Tumblr media
Everyone, thank you for this past year! I am so happy to be able to be involved in this work called Ousama Sentai Kingohger.
I have played Himeno for a year now, and just like how friends influence each other, I feel like Himeno's strength of heart* is, even for a little, starting to bud in me as well (smile) Having the encounter with Himeno, I also would like to live a selfish life and walk the path I choose to walk in. In life from here on, I'm sure there will be tough times, and there will be things that I have to face to matter what. When that time comes, I hope to be able to draw from the hero within me and continue to tread the path for me. Not just for me, but everyone who keeps Kingohger in their hearts I'm sure a better world than this is waiting.
Lastly, through Ousama Sentai Kingohger I have received many sentiments and messages. I'm going my own selfish way, keeping each of them in my heart. Thank you for this past year!
*(t/n: The word used by Marie for heart is the same as the word used for the pistil of a flower ^_^)
Hirakawa Yuzuki (Rita Kaniska)
Tumblr media
Playing Papillon Ohger/Rita Kaniska Hirakawa Yuzuki here. Thank you for your support to Ousama Sentai Kingohger this past year! I have learned a lot as a person of the arts through this work. I didn't have much experience working with green screens and LED walls before this work. At first, I struggled understanding what situation I was in. It is such a blessed circumstance to be able to experience filming in such state of the art filming technique. In the span of filming for a year, I have witnessed various approchaes to acting, and have received so much excitement. As someone of the arts, there is still much in store for me. Facing each task one by one without running away, I hope to do my best to improve myself to have confidence. Also, there was much interest with regards to my "voice" from this work, I would like to make it my strength as well and challenge myself to take works with such focus. As a person, I have taken interest in so many things, I would like to live my life with the excitement of new discoveries and challenges.
Kaku Sou (Kaguragi Dybowski)
Tumblr media
For a long time as a year, I am very grateful for the opportunity to be involved in a work that has been continued to be loved by many. As an actor, there aren't a lot of opportunities to play a single role that made me constantly think of it. I can say this is, without mistake, a year that was essential to me as an actor.
I am glad, from my heart to be involved in Kingohger, and to get to play Kaguragi.
If there's one thing we can do to give back to Kingohger, it is for us to get to be known by more people through our activities, and be told we're from Kingohger.*
I hope to give my all to be able to achieve that.
Everyone, thank you for your support for the whole year.
*(t/n: The term Kaku used is キングオージャー出身らしい, talking about Kingohger like one's hometown, having the best traits of someone from that "home" and be recognized by people that he is one of them)
Ikeda Masashi (Jeramie Idomonarak Ne Brasieri)
Tumblr media
To everyone who supported Ousama Sentai Kingohger for this year, to everyone involved in the production, thank you very much!
At the filming, there were many firsts for me, so many struggles and worries, but starting with the director, everyone at the staff has warmly held us up. I was blessed to be in this environment that allowed me to grow. Thank you very much.
Just as how I faced the role of Jeramie sincerely to create a work loved by many, I hope to give my all and leave no regrets in each of the work before me, and be involved in as many productions that will be loved by many.
Yano Masato (Racles Hastie)
Tumblr media
Everyone, thank you for supporting Kingohger for this past year! I'll be looking back and talking about what's next!
I was so nervous during episode 1's Five Countries Alliance scene lol I received the script around a month before that, and since then I kept rehearsing to remember all the lines! I started with such first episode. And then doing all out on the action scene on the trial by duel with Sakai-kun, rehearsing for a day but taking three days to film. On the show, we fought, but off camera it feels like we were comrades who overcame a grueling action scene together. And then after that leaving the production for a while and back with Shugo Kamen. I had thought of bulking up a little by the time I returned, the new hair style and the blue attire I think worked well with it ^_^ And then "Stand, Gira!" To be honest I was surprised with the response to this one lol So happy! I feel like I was able to, in a good way, betray. And lastly, becoming a rebel leading the people to save the kings. A lot were expected of me as an actor, both on acting and doing action. I have always been particular with the expressions on the parts without dialogues on any work I've been. With this weapon of evolved expressions I learned from Kingohger, and just like Racles, I hope to continue to strive to be an actor with a variety of facets. Please continue to support me from here on!

hello hello~
I came to you again with a minute of theories abot the trailer.
At the begining, achtung! these are just mine assumptions that based on what I saw and read on the Internet, as well as what I myself noticed in clips and various skiz content.
And one more time the reminder: there are mistakes in text since English is not my native, im sorry
So, for the last time, I assumed to discard a bunch of references to all sorts of Skz videos and assign an album to each member. This time I will try to reveal my thoughts about what happens in the scenes with the guys.
To be honest, I don’t have thoughts and answers about everyone, but I’ll tell you what I guessed .D
🌟Firstly, I want to note that it seems to me that, in addition to references to albums, references to some films are hidden inside the scenes.
Tumblr media
🍞 About Innie, I have no thoughts at all. Okay, there are a few, but they are so incoherent and uninformative that I don’t even want to talk about them ... (to be honest, this character inside the lore of skz literally drives me crazy, I have too many questions and almost no answers ... )
Tumblr media
🐰🐷 I don’t know what with Changbin either, the only thing is that we see how he is such a cute cutie trying to call someone, after a failure he gets mad and starts to destroy everything. I have a feeling that somewhere I saw something like that, I just can’t remember where, I can’t :c
Tumblr media
🦦 Hyunjin, as mentioned in previous post, is similar in his scene and setting to Kingsman, I honestly didn’t watch this movie, but asked around, and no one could give me answers about what was happening could mean. However, referring directly to this "happening"... at first I thought that Hyunjin crossed out the star (yes, it seemed to me that it was a star, not a flower on the jacket, bc there are five ends, as it seemed to me then), and there are 5 stars now. Then I read here and there, and someone wrote that this is the Innie's birth's flower ... perhaps it is (I'm not strong in this), and Jinnie seems to finish painting the 5th petal for him (here I already considered that there are 4 petals and 1 pistil xd). After he says these numbers: 644. Everyone has already written that this is an angel number and so on. In addition, I saw a bunch of "analyzes" of the number, what it is about money, that those you support will start sitting on your neck, etc. I don’t know how much we can believe this... although about “concentration on one’s feelings” or something that was in those theories, it may be similar. Hyunjin is quite sensual, yes... ahem, but in general, what can be interesting is 644: 6+4+4=14 1+4=5, we have 5 stars here, after all. And one more thing I thought about. Do you remember that I consider Hyunjin to be the "personification" of the maxident? And the title is case 143, 143=I love you. Communication with numbers. What if some words are hidden here too? Flower - 6 letters, stay/star/five - 4 letters. flower five star? Maybe you can find some other words?.D
Upd: i don't know why we didn't do it earlier BUT! With help of my friend we found out sthat if u will count with this "644" numbers letters in the korean alphabet u will get "별", which means 'star'~
Tumblr media
🐿 Han... ohh well, it's time for completely crazy theories uhhhh. What do we see in the picture? Some kind of train-plane flying in the clouds. I thought of Laputa Castle in the Sky. After all, Han loves Howl, loves anime, Laputa is also from studio gibli. In the sound, in Han's last part, he mentions "Laputa". The plot of the anime was that there was this floating island with untold riches. But in order to get there, a special stone was needed, its keeper was main character, and the pirates tried to steal it. In the trailer, the guys introduce themselves as they play in the i'm ground. And Han says "isn't that right? Then I won't do it" maybe this train is his idea that Jisung himself is a guide to the world of clouds, no "pirates" (or haters) will get there without a stone, but he is capable to achieve all this on his own? (Therefore, it is important that All in is a Japanese comeback, a reference, presumably, to a Japanese anime, well, Han's love for him x))
Tumblr media
🐶 I don't know what to say about Seungmin... I can't even imagine what kind of movie it could be... however, it is some kind of point in favor of the theory about films in general. He sits in a bucket full of POPCORN (First Felix said he ate candy, then Seungmin said he ate popcorn while filming... hard life for idols xddd). And he shows us a ticket to the cinema (sort of, if I read it right). Many assumed that these was the same tickets that were in the trailers and clips of past eras, but I do not think so. There were "one-way tickets to the new world", here is another ticket. They refused those tickets because they turned out to be a trap, and skz went their own way.
Tumblr media
🐣 I mentioned Felix - Joker... just Joker ahah, ready to read your thoughts~
Tumblr media
🐺 Bang Chan... uh, here my theory of connection with the Japanese album sounds dubious and far-fetched. At first, it seemed to me that Chan resembled Sub-Zero (I know that I am not the only one). I'm not strong in the lore of mortal kombat, so I went to read internet. Both Sub-Zero (this is a kind of title, not a name), being brothers, were born in the USA and were taken to China, belong to a Chinese organization. However, the developers said that the character was originally supposed to be named Ninja, and the whole story should be based on some book about how China influences Japanese ninjas. So there's a rather subtle connection to Japan... well, like Han, Chan loves anime in one way or another. But I also saw a theory about the similarity of Chan's vibe with the character of lol - Jhin, there are similar scenes in the video: playing the piano, concert hall, lighting... I also read his story, but there is also China (and the setting is more fantasy), not Japan... I also really liked the last lines of this character's bio, they are very suitable for the mood and meaning of the trailer: "It seems that all of Runeterra might be but a canvas for the atrocity that is Khada Jhin’s art, and only he knows where the next brushstroke will fall."
But still, my theory was movie references, according to MK there is a movie, but according to lol - no. Perhaps everything presented here is how Chan sees himself? Since the game is about introducing themselves, perhaps they themselves have described which films/animes/games they would like to be like or associated with? Therefore, it turned out to be a little chaos? (also Chan commented, that mask is just his own suggestion) So, there are a lot of thoughts, but the answers are not so... ahah xddd
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
🐰 And finally Minho. The first thing I thought of was Saw, but it's kind of too much for a k-pop band, I guess? I am not sure. It also reminds me a little of Parasite, this scene in the toilet ... here I would also love to read your thoughts .D
This time it's all I could guess, thank you for your attention~
Also i have the 3d part which is more connected to the lore story of skz. I will post it soon ~

Cannabis, Marijuana. This year’s crop is just beautiful and already six feet tall. It is the same strain as last year’s: Acapulco Gold.
You might recall the etymology of the various names for the plant in last year’s post. “Cannabis” comes from the Scythians word “kanab” which the Greeks made into κάνναβις or kánnabis, their word for “hemp.” “Marijuana” has its origins in a Central African word “mariamba,” used by American slaves in the 1700s, which became the Spanish word “marihuana,” again meaning “hemp.” “Pot” comes from the Spanish phrase “potacion de guaya,” which is a wine or brandy used to soak Cannabis buds during the 1930s.  And “grass” comes from the thousand-year- old Hindu text Atharvaveda, in which the plant is deified as “Sacred Grass.”
The anatomy of the plant is quite amazing and remarkably engineered. The entire flower structure is called the “cola.” If you look at the close up, you can see small pear-shaped leaves within the structure. These are called “brachts,” designed to protect the precious flowers or buds. The white threads in the flowers are the pistils and would catch the pollen from a male plant if the gardener foolishly allowed males to mix with the girls and produce seeds. The pistils should turn to a goldish brown when the season ends and the plant is ready for harvesting. The white dots are the trichomes, small hairs from the epidermis of the plant. These are heavy in THC content and keep the deer and other wildlife from attacking the plant and being too wonked out to find their way home. The flowers continue to multiply up and down the plants at the bases of the gorgeous fan leaves.
Last year and this, I grew Acapulco Gold because it was a favorite in my college dorm. It is what in tomato plants would be called an heirloom plant. It was an original strain of cannabis and is eschewed by today’s growers because the plants prefer the outside air and do not do well indoors. The stems are strong, as evidenced by the fact we have had some ferocious storms this summer and nary a leaf has been shed.
Acapulco Gold was traditionally cultivated in the Guerrero Mountains outside the city. In the seventies, no less an authority than the Oxford English Dictionary called it "a special grade of cannabis  . . . with a color of brownish gold, or a mixture of gold and green.” It has also been called "connoisseur pot," Another report from the time highlighted its "exquisite taste."
It was the favorite strain of such luminaries as Jack Nicholson, Mick Jagger and rock photographer Paul Ferrara. Reportedly, NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle tried it to understand if marijuana would cause problems for his players. And it was in the joint my father famously brought back for his kids when he and my mother vacationed in Acapulco.
Acapulco Gold is still an icon of the counter-culture, still being written about 60 years on. It appeared prominently in literature and film of that golden era. The 1972 novel Acapulco Gold by Edwin Corey, set in an impossible to imagine future world where marijuana would be legal, described the competition among advertising agencies to market it. Norman Spinrad’s novel Bug Jack Barron similarly described a futuristic world where the leading brand Acapulco Gold was promoted in a commercial like this:
"In the high country of Mexico evolved a savoury strain of marijuana which came to be known as Acapulco Gold in the days of the contraband trade. Prized for its superior flavor and properties, Acapulco Gold was available only to the favored few due to its rarity and the difficulties involved in importation."
In Cheech and Chong’s classic film, Up in Smoke, Cheech says "You know like I smoke that Acapulco Gold, man," and in the duo’s debut album, he sings, "No stems no seeds that you don't need, Acapulco Gold is some badass weed."
In their debut album, the New Riders of the Purple Sage, with Jerry Garcia on the pedal steel, included a song titled “Henry.”  They sang:
Every year along about this time it all goes dry There's nothing round for love or money That'll get you high Henry got pissed off and said he'd run to Mexico To see if he could come back holdin' Twenty keys of Acapulco Gold
Now the road to Acapulco is very hard indeed And it isn't any better if you haven't any weed.

Why Most People Fail At Trying To Fragrance Unisex
There are many scents that can be classified as unisex. The perfume Incense City by Allsaints can be described as unisex. It has a mix of cedarwood, cypress, and incense that initially appears masculine, but then fades to become more feminine. If you are unsure whether a unisex perfume is suitable for you, you can read for more information about this type of fragrance. Parfums for women that are Unisex are feminine. The latest trends in Unisex perfumes is the trend. For a long time, perfumes have been categorised based on gender, with women choosing citrus and floral scents, while men prefer leathery and woody notes. These stereotypes persist but the times have changed and gender equality is now a top priority. The creation of Unisex fragrances is to meet the needs both of women and men. They are growing in popularity because they preserve the original essence of fragrance. Unisex perfumes are not as popular as their sex-specific counterparts, but their popularity is increasing. More fragrances are popping up in department stores as more and more people accept gender neutrality in their beauty, fashion, and fashion. The fragrance industry remains an innovator in breaking down the gender binary, as the first unisex fragrance was launched by Calvin Klein 24 years ago. It represented a new mindset and the release of women from the traditional beauty and fragrance ideals. Today, the most well-known fragrance for men and women is Santal 33. This masculine scent aims to intoxicate both women and men. It smells like a smoky fire or the wild west or a film character that has awakened your sexual desire. It blends Australian sandalwood with papyrus and cedarwood to create a sexy and sultry scent that is sure to delight both sexes. Earthy Today, Unisex fragrances are on the rise, and for good reason. This trend is further enhanced by the nonbinary concept of gender. Anyone can wear any scent, and a variety of interesting scents are marketed towards both genders. Therefore, unisex fragrances are the most sought-after fragrance to purchase today. Let's take a look at the reasons for why this type of scent is so well-known. Firstly, it's bold! Secondly, it's unisex! Lastly, it's versatile! A masculine, unisex fragrance with an masculine slant is Demeter Black Bamboo Cologne, with a scent reminiscent of tender bamboo shoots. It also has cinnamon and spicy ginger. It's fresh and perfect for casual wear, particularly in summer and spring. But be aware that these scents aren't suitable for everyone. Le Labo Santal 33 is an evocative blend of woody, spicy notes as well as subtle, unexpected notes. Despite the masculine, spiciness of the scent it's a timeless and timeless fragrance. Le Labo Clean's scent line is cruelty-free and comes with unisex scent that is woody called CLEAN Reserved Smoked Veiver. Its scent features notes of therapeutic sandalwood, blonde vetiver and myrrh, aswell as a soft, smoky base. Spicy If you're in search of a fresh, spicily scented unisex fragrance, here's some options. Heretic, a perfume brand that is loved by celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, has created an appealing, unisex fragrance. Pistil Whip, for example is a floral scent with a floral base and a smoky undertone. The creator was pistol-whipped, and this fragrance was created! Absinthe is a slightly spicy and sulphurous unisex scent. It contains notes of liquorice, rosemary and wormwood. It is a part of the Les Fleurs du Mal collection that reflects the forbidden. Cartier's L'Heure Vertueuse fragrance also has absinthe as one of its main ingredients. But, you shouldn't take the fragrance's name for granted. Spices have a prominent place on the fragrance wheel. Their popularity is partly due to the strong connection between spices and food. Common spices include ginger, cloves, pepper, and coriander, as well as rarer spices like saffron, tamarind, caraway, and saffron. These scents, no matter which spice they are will be warm and spicy and are sure to draw attention. If you're looking for a new fragrance, try spicy perfume! Reminiscent to a 'gentleman's' club' A British men's club an evocative of the "Gentleman's Club" is a club for men that was originally created for men , and encourages homosociality in the home. The clubs were similar to the male coffeehouses that existed in the Ottoman Empire, and served as a private and exclusive alternative to the home. It was a means for men to escape from traditional male roles and indulge in activities that were not normally shared in public life. Inspiration comes from a single moment The word "inspire" is a word that has a myriad of meanings. It can be motivational or exciting, and it could even mean to "breathe life into something." The word itself originates from the Latin verb inspirare, and refers to "breathe into." It was used to describe the work of artists like Loie Fuller and Isadora Duncan. It may seem odd to use the French word to describe something, but it's closest to the original meaning.
Tumblr media
Inspiration from a place Are you searching for a place to inspire your team? If you answered yes, you're not alone. A recent study conducted by Erik van 't Klooster and Gerard van Keken sums up the research results. People look for inspiring places that can provide them with the "peak experience" they seek whether it's marriage, the birth of a child, or a thrilling sports event. These kinds of experiences aren't easy to come across So how do you make your location appealing and memorable? The first step is to get to know your audience. Inspiring places should be different from the routines of your guests. They should be diverse in their ethnic mix the buildings they are built in, types of residences and businesses as well as their population at various times of day. Even the most mundane places can be inspiring when you use the right mix of contrasts. Be cautious, you may get an experience that isn't exactly inspiring. Inspired by a scent The term inspired by the scent is a new method of making perfume for men and women. Aesop is a company that makes skincare has created two perfumes that are unisex Tacit, which is a fresh citrus scent and Marrakech Intense, a smoky woody scent. Their products are known for their high-end ingredients and elegant packaging. Some fragrances are even inspired by a scent or object and the names reflect that. For example the name "Jicky" was chosen because it was Aime Guerlain's nickname. The fragrance is composed of spicy, oriental, and floral notes. It also includes precious woods and lavender. While the original scent was intended to be a scent for women, it's today considered to be unisex. This fragrance is intended for both men and women and therefore the ingredients it contains are suitable for all genders. The scents for men and women can be influenced by any scent, including the scents of both genders. In addition to gender neutral notes, unisex perfumes can be more abrasive or less floral based on the person wearing them. The scents for women are generally clean and fresh with notes of lemon or citrus. They can be perfect for both men as well as women.

22 Essential Literary Devices and How to Use Them In Your Writing
hello, happy Monday. Hope you’re all having a wonderful day!
I will skip the pre-info and dive right into it.
What Is a Literary Device?
is a tool used by writers to hint at larger themes, ideas, and meaning in a story or piece of writing
The List of Literary Devices:
Allegory. Allegory is a literary device used to express large, complex ideas in an approachable manner. Allegory allows writers to create some distance between themselves and the issues they are discussing, especially when those issues are strong critiques of political or societal realities.
Allusion. An allusion is a popular literary device used to develop characters, frame storylines, and help create associations to well-known works. Allusions can reference anything from Victorian fairy tales and popular culture to the Bible and the Bard. Take the popular expression “Bah humbug”—an allusion that references Charles Dickens’ novella A Christmas Carol. The phrase, which is often used to express dissatisfaction, is associated with the tale’s curmudgeonly character, Ebenezer Scrooge.
Anachronism. Imagine reading a story about a caveman who microwaves his dinner, or watching a film adaptation of a Jane Austen novel in which the characters text each other instead of writing letters. These circumstances are examples of anachronisms, or an error in chronology—the kind that makes audiences raise their eyebrows or do a double-take. Sometimes anachronisms are true blunders; other times, they’re used intentionally to add humor or to comment on a specific time period in history.
Cliffhanger. It’s a familiar feeling: You’re on minute 59 of an hour-long television episode, and the protagonist is about to face the villain—and then episode cuts to black. Known as a cliffhanger, this plot device marks the end of a section of a narrative with the express purpose of keeping audiences engaged in the story.
Dramatic Irony. Remember the first time you read or watched Romeo and Juliet? The tragic ending of this iconic story exemplifies dramatic irony: The audience knows that the lovers are each alive, but neither of the lovers knows that the other is still alive. Each drinks their poison without knowing what the audience knows. Dramatic irony is used to great effect in literature, film, and television.
Extended Metaphor. Extended metaphors build evocative images into a piece of writing and make prose more emotionally resonant. Examples of extended metaphor can be found across all forms of poetry and prose. Learning to use extended metaphors in your own work will help you engage your readers and improve your writing.
Foreshadowing. At its core, storytelling has one ambition: to capture and sustain your reader’s attention and keep them reading your story. Foreshadowing, or slyly indicating a future event, is one technique a writer can use to create and build suspense.
Humor. Humor brings people together and has the power to transform how we think about the world. Of course, not everyone is adept at being funny—particularly in their writing. Making people laugh takes some skill and finesse, and, because so much relies on instinct, is harder to teach than other techniques. However, all writers can benefit from learning more about how humor functions in writing.
Imagery. If you’ve practiced or studied creative writing, chances are you’ve encountered the expression “paint a picture with words.” In poetry and literature, this is known as imagery: the use of figurative language to evoke a sensory experience in the reader. When a poet uses descriptive language well, they play to the reader’s senses, providing them with sights, tastes, smells, sounds, internal and external feelings, and even deep emotion. The sensory details in imagery bring works to life.
Irony. Irony is an oft-misunderstood literary device that hinges on opposites: what things are on the surface, and what they end up actually being. Many learn about dramatic irony through works of theater like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet or Sophocles’s Oedipus Rex. When deployed with skill, irony is a powerful tool that adds depth and substance to a piece of writing.
Metaphor, Simile, and Analogy. Metaphors, similes, and analogies are three techniques used in speech and writing to make comparisons. Each is used in a different way, and differentiating between the three can get a little tricky: For example, a simile is actually a subcategory of metaphor, which means all similes are metaphors, but not all metaphors are similes. Knowing the similarities and differences between metaphor, simile, and analogy can help you identify which is best to use in any scenario and help make your writing stronger.
Motif. A motif is a repeated element that has symbolic significance to a story. Sometimes a motif is a recurring image. Sometimes it’s a repeated word or phrase or topic. A motif can be a recurrent situation or action. It can be a sound or a smell or a temperature or a color. The defining aspect is that a motif repeats, and through this repetition, a motif helps to illuminate the central ideas, themes, and deeper meaning of the story in which it appears.
Motif vs. Symbol. Both motifs and symbols are used across artistic mediums: Painters, sculptors, playwrights, and musicians all use motifs and symbols in their respective art forms. And while they are similar literary terms, “motif” and “symbol” are not synonyms.
Oxymoron. An oxymoron is a figure of speech: a creative approach to language that plays with meaning and the use of words in a non-literal sense. This literary device combines words with contradictory definitions to coin a new word or phrase (think of the idiom “act naturally”—how can you be your natural self if you’re acting?). The incongruity of the resulting statement allows writers to play with language and meaning.
Paradox. “This sentence is a lie.” This self-referential statement is an example of a paradox—a contradiction that questions logic. In literature, paradoxes can elicit humor, illustrate themes, and provoke readers to think critically.
Personification. In writing, figurative language—using words to convey a different meaning outside the literal one—helps writers express themselves in more creative ways. One popular type of figurative language is personification: assigning human attributes to a non-human entity or inanimate object in an effort to express a point or idea in a more colorful, imaginative way.
Satire. Satire is so prevalent in pop culture that most of us are already very familiar with it, even if we don’t always realize it. Satire is an often-humorous way of poking fun at the powers that be. Sometimes, it is created with the goal to drive social change. Satire can be part of any work of culture, art, or entertainment—it has a long history, and it is as relevant today as it was in ancient Rome.
Situational Irony. Irony: it’s clear as mud. Theorists quibble about the margins of what constitutes irony, but situational irony is all around us—from humorous news headlines to the shock twists in a book or TV show. This type of irony is all about the gap between our expectations and reality, and it can make a memorable and powerful impression when we encounter it.
Suspense. No matter what type of story you’re telling, suspense is a valuable tool for keeping a reader’s attention and interest. Building suspense involves withholding information and raising key questions that pique readers’ curiosity. Character development plays a big role in generating suspense; for example, if a character’s desire is not fulfilled by the end of the book, the story will not feel complete for the reader.
Symbolism. An object, concept, or word does not have to be limited to a single meaning. When you see red roses growing in a garden, what comes to mind? Perhaps you think literally about the rose—about its petals, stem, and thorns, or even about its stamen and pistil as a botanist might. But perhaps your mind goes elsewhere and starts thinking about topics like romance, courtship, and Valentine’s Day. Why would you do this? The reason, of course, is that over the course of many generations, a rose’s symbolic meaning has evolved to include amorous concepts.
Verisimilitude. Verisimilitude (pronounced ve-ri-si-mi-li-tude) is a theoretical concept that determines the semblance of truth in an assertion or hypothesis. It is also an essential tenet of fiction writing. Verisimilitude helps to encourage a reader’s willing suspension of disbelief. When using verisimilitude in writing, the goal is to be credible and convincing.
Vignette. A writer’s job is to engage readers through words. Vignettes—poetic slices-of-life—are a literary device that brings us deeper into a story. Vignettes step away from the action momentarily to zoom in for a closer examination of a particular character, concept, or place. Writers use vignettes to shed light on something that wouldn’t be visible in the story’s main plot.
I’ll make a post going into each of them individually in more detail later on!

Blog Recommendation Of The Month
@icardamome
Interview
1. When and how did you start to become interested in photography?
First of all, I would like to thank the PWS Team for this event and their support for photographers here on Tumblr! The first point is a small black and white laboratory in the garage of my father in which I spent many days (and nights!) in the red light, learning and practicing film and paper processing, years of Patterson cuvés, Ilford papers and Durst. The second point is a very beautiful full-length black and white portrait of an American singer found in an old magazine of bands with a great range of gray, highlighting the many details, from skin to the eyes to the clothes to the hair. This photo has remained in my memory as the translation of colors into black and white, sublimating the portrait.
2. How would you say your photography changed since you started?
I began photography with a SLR camera and black and white films. At that time the films were expensive so I did not take many pictures and learned to take my time before releasing the shutter (this way of taking pictures has stayed with me). I discovered the complexity of the sensitivity, speed and aperture settings. Now with the DSLR models, there are a lot of possibilites and many automatic settings, but I always come back to the manual mode with no auto focus. Otherwise, the change comes by itself when you look at a lot of photographs, inevitably, you become much more critical of your own pictures. It happens by itself.
3. Is there something you learned during your photographic journey that you would have loved to know when you were just starting out?
Don't focus too much on the technical settings and leave a lot of space around the subjects.
4. Your blog consists to a large degree of macro photographs. What is it that draws you towards macro photography?
So many magnificent colors and patterns. It's fascinating what you discover when you get very close to the pistil of a flower, to a tiny insect that turns its little head towards you, I still haven't got tired of it! It's like entering another world on another scale, full of symmetry and extraordinary shades. The beauty of a snowflake!
5. What inspires you?
So many photographers, black and white street photography by Vivian Maier, and contemporary photographers like Mitchell Kanashkevich, and Anne McKinnell, and many photographers here on Tumblr. ...And the light! How a ray of sunlight enters a room, the shadows it casts on the walls, the curtains or in a forest, illuminating the leaves like a golden curtain.
6. If you'd have to describe yourself as a photographer in one sentence, what would that sentence be?
Like thousands of other photographers to show the beauty and diversity of the Nature that surrounds us in order to stop this useless destruction and the endangerment of our biodiversity.

Tumblr media
The sun beats behind his eyelids. It’s warm and bright, the birds are chirping, the breeze smells of wildflowers in the field. He can hear the faint buzzing of bees frequenting the pistils of the flowers.
The wind blows a soft breeze from beside him and carries the scent of sweet vanilla and rose to his nose. He breathes it in deeply, letting the air rush into him and down his throat to fully bask in the beauty of it.
It is quiet, save for the rustling leaves of the tree he sits beneath and the slow, gentle, even, breathing of someone laying next to him. He doesn’t need to open his eyes to know this person is his peace. He reaches out a hand to touch the soft skin he knows is right next to him; to stroke it ever so carefully with the backs of his knuckles, a simple reminder.
I am here and I’m not going anywhere.
There is a small sigh, a deep intake of breath through the nose and then out again with a heavier sigh. A twinkling voice, one that is full of so much hope and tranquility it almost makes him open his eyes. It’s a voice he would trade the world to hear again, a voice he loves more than words could describe.
“This is the best day of my life.”
Katsuki opens his eyes to the hole in the roof of the decrepit shack he stayed in last night. The sky is gray and covers the world in a dingy smoky film of haze as little tufts of ash flit around the air. The air is hot and dry, scorching his throat as he takes a deep breath in and coughs from the discomfort.
He turns his head to the side to see his fingers scratching into the dry dirt, right where the person he’d dreamed of should’ve been. He clenches his hand in a fist and punches the ground before sitting up and taking in his surroundings.
The walls of the shack also have holes in them and are still holding the remnants of the house up on shaky beams. A dingy floral wallpaper peels from them, like an aged banana, piles of ash lying on the broken wooden floor where the paper burst into flames. He wrinkles his nose at the poor taste in interior decoration.
He wonders if the previous owners argued over the pattern before remembering they probably met an untimely demise. The ashes of their remains are probably scattered around the house, he probably breathed them in as he slept and the thought makes his stomach clench.
The wind whistles menacingly through the holes, shrieking and reminding him of the desolate wasteland that will greet him for another miserable day of travel. He sits up, grunting as the sweat that drenched him in his sleep slips down his broad chest. He stretches out his muscles, wiping the small pebbles embedded in his back from sleeping on the hard crusted ground.
He takes a sip from the canteen sitting in the open pack next to him, letting the soothing water coat the inside of his parched throat. He makes sure to pace himself and not down all the water in one sitting like every muscle in his body is telling him to do. Water is too valuable, and he has a few more days left that he needs it to last before reaching the Anomaly.
He caps it and pulls a small energy bar from the pack. Flipping it over, the “UA” insignia blares at him, proud and annoying. He scoffs as he rips the wrapper from the bar and takes a determined bite, puffing out air. The conversation he’d had with those fuckers at Universal Anomalies lab before embarking on this cursed journey plays for the millionth time in his head.
Tumblr media
“The Anomaly has been quiet since the last time we tried to send probes up. The winds and heat keep messing with the cameras, but I think we’ve finally managed to get a good glimpse before the probe was destroyed,” Yayorozu’s voice echoes through the subterranean conference room as she plays footage on a large screen in front of her peers. The others lean forward in their seat as they mutter and scribble notes.
Katsuki sits in a chair at the round table full of scientists, big booted feet propped up on the table and crossed over each other as he leans back nonchalantly in his chair. His head lulls backward as his eyes roll lazily to the back of his head.
It’s always the same with these kooks. They get excited over a single piece of footage all for it not to bring them any closer to having the answers they seek. He wonders why they keep inviting him to the meetings when he snorts at Yaoyorozu’s report. He’s not entirely sure himself why he keeps showing up. There clearly won’t be anything found, so why get his hopes up?
A sudden lurch of his chair as someone kicks it roughly to force him from his disrespectful slouch, pulls him from his hopeless thoughts.
“The least you could do is pay attention, Bakugo,” A young scientist, one who hasn’t been a fan of Katsuki since he arrived at the lab, Natsuo Todoroki, snarls under his breath.
Katsuki turns to the white haired man, smirking as if this whole meeting is beneath him. “Why bother? It’s all boring science shit that gets repeated every meeting. I ain’t gonna waste my time listening to the same shit,” Katsuki answers back, chuckling sarcastically and not bothering to keep his voice down.
The room grows quiet as every eye falls on Katsuki with shocked disappointment. Yaoyorozu sighs deeply at Katsuki’s laid back demeanor. She looks at him disapprovingly, shaking her head as she turns back to the screen.
“If it means anything, I don’t particularly want you here either Bakugo,” she says in a snippy, professional manner. Katsuki’s deadly crimson gaze falls on her. He bares his teeth at her like an angry dog.
“Then why am I still here, Ponytail? Just let me go back up to the surface like I’ve been wanting to for the last few weeks,” he says, trying to keep an even voice. There would be no point in losing his temper again, they don’t give a shit about anything other than their agenda anyway.
“You’re still here for the same reason I’ve told you every time you’ve asked. You have the most intel regarding the anomaly and to fix your mistake,” Yaoyorouzu says. “And…you might finally have a chance to,” she finishes before Katsuki has a chance to interject.
She presses a button to continue the footage on the screen. The camera is shaky as the drone soars through the air trying to get close to the swirling cloud. It maneuvers its way into the wispy winds of the vortex, dipping and crashing to the ground a few times from debris knocking it around. Katsuki rolls his eyes again in impatience and Yaoyorozu gives him a pointed stare as if to tell him to keep looking.
The drone does make more headway, whirring through the wall of dust, flashes of fuchsia, red, and grey from the garbage swirling in the cyclone until it peaks through the other side to what looks like an open field. There’s only a small circle of grass, luscious and green with a circumference of 2 feet in the middle of a scene of devastation.
A tree stands healthy and beautiful, leaves blowing violently in the shifting winds of the clearing. The grass patch is illuminating, lighting up the area like a beacon in the dingy gray atmosphere of the clearing. It’s surrounded by dead pale grass, blackened singed trees, buildings crumpled to the ground, and tatters of clothing floating through the air.
There’s a heap of something lying in the middle of the patch of grass, unmoving at least from what it looks like from the shaky footage. Katsuki intakes a sharp breath and sits up now attentive. His eyes widen in disbelief as the camera attempts to move closer to the patch of grass.
The heap becomes a body, curled in on itself wearing nothing but a large dirty T-shirt, the huge block red letters stretched across the back “RUSH” come into frame right before the drone is knocked from the sky by some unseen force. The feed goes dead as the drone hits the ground and it seems as if everyone is holding their breath all at the same time.
“She’s...alive.”
As always, Katsuki says what everyone is too shocked—or afraid to say.
“We can’t confirm that but we suspect she might be. If she is, your job will be to reach her, speak to her, and find a way to stop this,” Yaoyorozu says stepping forward.
“Oh now you want me to talk to her?” Katsuki says in a mocking tone.
“If she’s dead, you’ll bring her body back here and we’ll take it from there.” She continues ignoring his jab at them. Katsuki turns in disgust at her words and narrows his eyes.
“You think I’m going to bring her body back here for you sick in the head shit heads to pick and probe her dead body?”
Natsuo stands suddenly, pushing back in his chair so hard it falls to the ground with a huge crash. He’s fuming, fist pounding the table as his malicious glare tears into Katsuki. “You heard her, you imbecile! You don’t have a choice. Either you find a way to stop The Anomaly from baking us all alive or you bring it back here and we find a way to stop it.”
“She.” Katsuki snarls, gripping the table and glaring a deadly gaze at him. He wants to climb over the table and beat the man until he can’t talk anymore. As if he ever knew the pain she felt. As if the loss of some of his family could equate to the loneliness and loss she felt that day. He shakes his head, trying to keep himself calm. He focuses on the screen showing the curled up body. The only thing that matters.
She is alive.
“She wiped out more than two thirds of the world’s population and the numbers are still dwindling thanks to the constant radiation and heat rays that are emitting from that area, Bakugo. By this time next year, there will be nothing left,” Yaoyorozu stands to move to the center of the room and press a button on the complex keyboard. The click of her heels is ominous as the room goes silent at her morose statement.
“The heat waves and the shifting winds hold some sort of radiation we can’t explain, but it’s changing the environment up on the surface so quickly that whomever was able to survive after The Flash are having their DNA shifted at an exponential rate. We don’t know what that looks like exactly, but if it’s anything like the simulations we ran, spending more than a few weeks up on the surface could turn you into an entirely different organism.” The screen shifts to a plethora of graphs and charts, pictures of DNA strands, seemingly used as evidence to her statement.
Yaoyorozu cocks her head to the side, appraising Katsuki from his position across the table. “How’s your quirk? Barely present, if it is at all like the rest of the people we’ve tested here. Signs are showing it is a direct correlation to the anomaly. Which means the radiation is even changing our DNA and we’re underground. Not to mention the radiation sickness that is slowly but surely driving some insane and breaking down our constitution. 17 people in this facility have died from the sickness, 34 are on the brink. It’s all of our fates.”
Her tone is accusatory, biting and scolding as she speaks to him. Although her information rings true, there’s no mistaking who she truly blames for this disaster.
“You still think it was all worth it? The world is dying. Humanity is dying and she is killing us”
Katsuki balls a fist up, his palms are sweaty and where little pops and sparks would be flying from his hands before, there is only a warming sensation bubbling up in his palm. another unfortunate piece of evidence that backs up Yaoyorozu’s incriminating monologue. Something in him snaps and he laughs loud and gruff, like a maniacal criminal put on trial. He stands, scooting his chair loudly against the cold grey floors. It scratches and screeches against the metal and he watches as some of the scientists wince at the terrible sound.
“You idiots really think this is all on me? Fine. You can all sit here and throw the blame on me. I’ll take responsibility because I know what I've done. But you know what? You ‘scientists’, all of you are just as much to blame as me. If any of you thought for a second that keeping a human girl caged up like an animal, or some specimen utilized for your sick fucking tests for her entire life would provide you any good results, you’re not as smart as you give yourselves credit for,” he says with satirical humor. He’s loud and his voice is echoing through the entire room, loud enough for everyone to hear as he strolls and stops in front of Yaoyorozu.
He snatches the folder from her hands and gives her a piercing glare, standing tall and proud. “I’ll go up to the surface and fix this like you want. But after? I want your word that you and everyone is this fucked up facility will fuck off and leave us alone.”
Yaoyorozu raises both of her eyebrows before smoothing her skirt and matching his proud stance.
“You have my word.”
Katsuki turns to exit the large conference room, hearing the scientist mutter as he leaves. He stops and looks over his shoulder.
“Hey Ponytail. For the record, the answer to your question...is yes. It was worth it, every single moment. And I do it all over again and sacrifice every person on Earth, just to see her smile again,” he says before leaving the room in a huge uproar.
Tumblr media
The scientists at UA may be assholes, but Katsuki will admit they did give him everything he asked for to survive this trip. Including the very insignificant —or so they assumed—music player. He jams the headphones into his ears and presses play, moving to grab a few sanitation wipes from his pack.
The rocking drums and guitar riffs of his favorite band play loudly as he wipes the grime and sweat from the night off of his chest. He gathers his shirt and jacket, pulls on his boots and packs all of his sleeping gear away.
When he is about to depart from the shack, he stands clad in a heavy coat, goggles, a mask strapped around his nose and mouth and a huge backpack of equipment in the doorway of the ram shackled home. The start of dreamy vocals and promises of paradise play in Katsuki’s ears.
He jams his hand into his pocket to quickly shut off the music, snatching the earphones from his ear and shoving them into his pocket as well. He looks out upon the scorched plains, surveying for any danger before stepping out into the blistering heat of the day.
The terrain is mostly sand, no half standing trees or buildings for anything to be hiding behind so Katsuki is able to keep his eyes forward and on the path. There’s no color, no saturation, the environment stripped of its life.
The constant winds and beating sun bake him and steal his breath as he walks. He tightens the mask, and takes deep gulps of the oxygen it provides as he walks. His boots sink into the sand, the muscles in his leg screaming as he lifts it high up and back down with each sluggish step and he curses to himself as he looks around for a better path to walk on. It’s a miserable journey, but one he intends to see through to the very end.
He can see in the distance to the east what looks like a paved road so he turns in that direction and heads for it. The sun is blaring and makes it difficult to see what’s right in front of him, though there is nothing for miles. He could listen to music as he walks but he won’t risk the music player becoming damaged or being snuck up on by who knows what, so he’s left only with his thoughts.
His thoughts are dangerous, filled with what to do when he reaches the anomaly. What does he say? What if she’s dead? No. Don’t be fucking stupid, she’s not dead. He scolds himself.
Instead he thinks of music as he walks. He remembers the way he learned to get lost in the music, for it to carry him to another place entirely. He can almost hear it, the sweet voice in his memories carrying his feet as he stumbles through the arid terrain. Remembers the teasing laughter of his friends, and when he closes his eyes between steps for a break in the repetitive scenery he can see the flashing colorful lights of the dance floor. When the scene shifts and screams of terror fill his mind, he opens his eyes.
He’s made it to the paved road after an agonizing three hours. A traffic sign, bent and melted on the side of the road informs him of his location. The city where all of this started, his home, is 25 miles away.
She is 25 miles away.

10 months before The Flash
Katsuki watches you, frail, small, and huddled in the corner of the large white room from the two way mirror in frustration.
“You’re telling me you think this little brat is the cause for the lab exploding?” He looks to Aizawa out of the corner of his eye, scrutinizing the man's tired gaze. He raises an eyebrow as Aizawa flips the page of your file over and scans the report.
“Sounds like it, though there’s not enough evidence to show that she is the cause for it. She was just the only survivor. The area around the rubble where they found her was completely untouched like the flames or the explosion skipped right over her. The analysts are still studying pieces of the wreckage but we can’t get anywhere unless we get some information from her. That’s where you come in.”
Katsuki continues watching you. Your face is buried in your knees, hair matted and piled atop your head. You’re rail thin, shivering like a lost puppy. You have bruises and scars all over your body, some very recent judging by the color of them. Katsuki takes a brief moment to wonder what the hell happened to you.
“And what exactly is it you expect me to do Aizawa? I’m not the one for negotiation and you know that. Stop wasting my time,” Katsuki says rolling his eyes and snatching the file from him. His scarlet eyes read over the report again.
“We sent the negotiator in first, no dice. She reacted violently to him screaming and crying as he got closer. It didn’t matter how soft he spoke to her. Something about his appearance set her off,” Aizawa explains.
He sounds bored as he catches Katsuki up to speed. It seems they’ve had you in custody for two days now and Aizawa has exhausted all attempts to try and get information from her. It’s nice to know that Aizawa is using him as a last resort.
“So, we think maybe some.. Intimidation… may help get the information flowing.”
“If I’d have known being a detective meant babysitting I would’ve become something more boring like a teacher or something. At least that would’ve made more sense.”
Katsuki blows out an annoyed breath and reads the file, gathering all the details and finding out what he needs to ask. You were apparently found after one of the research facilities that study strange happenings , blew up.
The devastation was terrible, bodies fused together in the wreckage, metal warped and warbled in the heat and fire, of those who were still alive—if you could even call it that— were melted and fused into blobs of skin and melted bone, unable to talk or move save for the unbearable cries of pain. They’d been taken to the hospital to be studied but no answers were found other than they seemed to have gone through a transformation that may have had something to do with radiation of some sort.
You’d been the only survivor, found lying curled in on yourself amongst the rubble. As Aizawa mentioned ,you were found sitting on the cold metal floor, a perfect circle around you unscathed by the devastation surrounding you. There were piles of ash and remnants of human teeth in the immediate vicinity signifying there had been people there. Why hadn’t you been destroyed in the blast as well?
There wasn’t much known about you other than what they could observe about you. You were small, underfed, looked to be about 17 and gone through some sort of abuse given the many wounds and bruises on your skin. You wore what looked like a dirty hospital gown, with huge holes in it and your skin stretched uncomfortably over your spine as you sat curled in the corner. When Katsuki is done reading, he turns to Aizawa gruffly.
“Sheesh you couldn’t have cleaned the kid up? No wonder she won’t fucking talk.”
“We tried. She won't let anyone near her.”
“What do you mean won’t let anyone near her? She’s like two pounds.”
Katsuki turns his gaze back to you, curiosity staining his features now as he watches two doctors in white coats enter the room slowly and cautiously. Aizawa turns pointedly toward the window. The doctors hold their hands up in a harmless manner. As they approach, the building starts to rumble.
Your head pops up out of your arms and knees, face contorted in terror. You frantically look around the room, scooting as far as you can into the corner. The building rumbles violently, making both Aizawa and Katsuki stumble.
A few loose tiles from the ceiling fall. The rumbling grows more violent as the doctors stumble closer to you. Katsuki’s eyes widen as he watches you cry, hands over your ears as you shake your head back and forth mouthing something he can’t quite make out.
Katsuki focuses on your lips, trying to read what you’re saying. Books and folders start to fall from the shelves in the office before it clicks in his mind and he realizes what’s happening. He moves clumsily over to the intercom button, slams it and yells into the microphone.
“Get the fuck out of there!”
The doctors place the food they were holding down on the floor and quickly scurry out of the room. As soon as the door clicks shut, the rumbling stops, lending more evidence to Katsuki’s quickly made hypothesis.
“This happen every time a doctor goes in?” He says as Aizawa gets back to his feet.
“Yes, and when the negotiator stepped into the room it was more violent. We had to move her to another investigation room. A huge crack in the wall appeared. We haven’t let anyone else go in save for the doctors who try to get her to eat,” Aizawa explains in a huff.
“Didn’t think to tell me all of that before you let me waltz in there with my thumb up my ass? It’s clear what’s going on if you idiots paid any attention,” Katsuki growls under his breath. Aizawa gives him a look as if to say “well go on.”
“She’s afraid. A classic case of PTSD. She was mouthing ‘please no more’ and ‘no more shots’ to herself when they came in. You said a doctor hasn’t been able to get close to her, right? So I’m assuming they haven’t given her any injections. Which means, whatever happened at that lab, the doctors are triggering her and I’m willing to bet the negotiator resembles someone at that lab she was afraid of too.”
Aizawa raises an eyebrow.
“Great. Since you’re so great at interpreting and understanding her, you give it a try.”

Katsuki places a large hand on the door to the investigation room. He takes a deep breath, tries to replace the scowl that is permanently etched into his features with a calm stare and braces himself for the rumbling to start again. He opens the door and is shocked when the room doesn’t immediately break out in violent tremors, a good first step.
He walks in slowly, his boots echoing through the pale metal room. He huffs out a breath and sucks his teeth, looking squarely at the window where he knows Aizawa is watching and listening intently.
“Tsk, geez you couldn’t have put the kid in a room with some color? No wonder she gets all pissy.”
His eyes fall on you in the corner and he’s shocked to see you looking straight at him. He’s caught off guard by your big round eyes staring up at him. They’re surprisingly clear, not a tear in sight and framed by a pair of long eyelashes that would dust your cheeks when you blink if not for the sallow sunken in features from starvation. Your face is dirty, caked in ash and what looks like dried blood. Curly tendrils that are not matted to the rest of the mess atop your head are plastered on your forehead and down the side of your face from sweat and tears.
You’re still hunched over, wrapping your arms tightly around your legs and pulling your bony knees farther into your chest. You’re shivering either from cold, exhaustion, or anxiety, Katsuki can't exactly tell. What he can tell is that you aren’t afraid of him, another step in the positive direction.
You look at him with measured curiosity, perhaps pondering who he is and why the doctors have allowed someone like him to come into the room. He can tell you’re on your guard, digging your fingers into your arms as he bends down to pick up the tray of food and bring it to you again.
The room trembles slightly as he places the tray in front of you and scoots it in your direction. “Don’t.” He says in a stern voice and everything stops as you gaze into his eyes. He pushes the tray to you again, slowly and carefully keeping eye contact.
“Look kid, you need to eat something before you waste away. You don’t have to eat it all but I ain’t leaving until you at least take a bite. And if you think that rumbling shit is going to scare me away, you’ve got another thing comin’,” he scolds you. His tone isn’t abrasive and he makes sure to make his gruff voice softer.
Katsuki can see the inquisitiveness behind your ogling gaze. They shift from the food on the floor and back up to his eyes quickly and for some reason he can tell what you’re asking. He can’t really figure out why it makes him soften, why a tiny smile plays at the corner of his lips as he interprets your worry.
“It’s not poison or anything. Look, see,” he says, grabbing the apple and taking a bite of it. He swallows loudly to make a point and hands the apple to you. You’re still wary but you reach a feeble hand out to take it from him. When you take a small bite and chew twice, you smile to yourself at the sweet flavor. The smile playing at the edges of Katsuki's mouth breaks out on his face and he cockily looks back toward the window.
“And that’s how it’s done. Now we’re getting somewhere.” He turns his attention back to you and you watch his every movement like a hawk. “Alright kid, how’d you get in that lab?”
You stare for a long moment before shrugging your shoulders. Katsuki huffs impatiently. “What happened there?” Another shrug. “How’d it blow up?” Shrug.
He slaps a hand over his eyes and pulls it down his face in exaggerated frustration. You keep your eyes on him and take another bite of your apple. He can swear he sees the edges of your mouth twitch. He narrows his eyes then sighs, “Ok, ok, fine, I’ll start with some basics then. How old are you?”
You finish chewing, put down your apple and hold up both your hands making a 2 and a 0 with your fingers. He’s stunned, only two years younger than him. “Are you fucking kidding me? I thought you were like 15.”
You frown a bit, and Katsuki chuckles at how offended you look. “Can you blame me? You’re tiny as hell.” You pick up your apple and take a bite sassily and Katsuki raises an eyebrow at you. You’re already showing signs of a personality and he’s impressed.
“Alright fine I’ll stop calling you ‘kid’ then. What should I call you? You got a name?” You hold out your arm and point to a number tattooed into your skin. 1494
“The fuck? That’s not a name.” Anger boils inside him as you shrug your shoulders and take another bite of the apple. It seems like wherever you were previously they only referred to you as a number and it makes Katsuki sick to his stomach. An incredibly unpredictable urge to protect you washes over him.
“Well I ain’t callin’ you a fucking number. So what should I call you then?” You shrug your shoulders again but your eyes glow when he refuses to call you the number.
“Hah? What do you mean you don’t know? Fine. it looks like you’ll be seeing a lot of me kid, so think about it for the next time we meet. Got it?” His pocket vibrates suddenly and a loud mingle of guitars and drums plays. He quickly shoves his hand into his pocket and pulls out his phone, silencing the music before the singer’s raspy rock voice can sing about a hurricane.
Your eyes are lit up with curiosity as you watch his hands shove the phone back into his pocket. He can already tell you’re intrigued and your questioning expression confirms it. “Oh, you like that huh? Well what do you know, someone with decent taste in music.” You seem to be full of surprises and again Katsuki is impressed.
“Tell you what Curly, you give me some of the information I need and I’ll show you all about the art of rock and roll.”
For the first time since you’ve been brought into the investigation room, you smile.

SUBLIME CINEMA #13 - HITCHCOCK’S VERTIGO
An otherworldly Technicolor masterpiece, this is Hitchcock’s strangest and subtlest film, with a story that unfolds like petals of a mysterious flower, the pistil replaced by Kim Novak’s haunting stare. This is a film in which Hitchcock tapped into all of his artistic power - not just the power to suspend or shock an audience - and looked inward to his own fanatical obsessions.

I try to watch Trigger’s original series at least! I got tags for Kiznaiver, Space Patrol Luluco, Little Witch Academia, SSSS. Gridman, and the A-1 Pictures/Trigger collab, DARLING in the FRANXX. For some of these shows, I’ve written about my thoughts fairly extensively:

Space Patrol Luluco and Kill la Kill Crossover Idea
Space Patrol Luluco’s Finale vs. Kill la Kill’s Finale ☂
Buuuut I know that’s a lot, so:
tl;dr?
Inferno Cop: Okay, I admit it. YouTube-Poop-styled humor is ridiculously amusing to me. (I once did a whole final project in college about YouTube Poop. Yes, really.)
And the horrible cut-out animation will never fail to make me crack up. Inferno Cop is truly a masterpiece.
Space Patrol Luluco: Hey, I actually finally picked this one up at Comic Con about a month ago! While I wasn’t expecting to enjoy Luluco much, I think it’s actually my second-favorite Studio Trigger series after Kill la Kill. It’s just really cute and silly and fun. As I realized in excruciating detail at a Comic Con panel I went to, most anime humor honestly doesn’t do much for me, but when the panelists showed a clip from Luluco? That got me smiling. Things can get mean-spirited at times (which isn’t my cup of tea), but overall, I think Luluco has some real heart. And it’s adorable.

Kiznaiver: Oh, I was so excited to love this show! I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of the first two episodes, and I was totally hooked. It was drop-dead gorgeous—and probably the prettiest series Trigger has ever put out—and I was very intrigued by the plot and characters. I remember just coming back to my hotel room at like 3:00 am after the premiere, utterly filled with excitement. I mean, Kiznaiver was directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi, the episode director behind the two episodes that got me hooked on Kill la Kill (episodes 5 and 18)!
But… my excitement quickly died. The story tried to develop way too many characters in way too little time, and I never enjoyed the romantic pairing of Katsuhira and Noriko, finding it shallow, undeveloped, and nonsensical (in a bad way), which… kind of ruins a lot of the series when that’s arguably the heart of the whole thing.
Kiznaiver is still super, super pretty, though. That last episode’s animation got me shook.
Little Witch Academia: I wish I loved this one more than I do. I really, really admire Yoh Yoshinari as an artist and director, and I know LWA is totally his baby, and the animation in both the series and shorts is so good, and I don’t know if I’ve ever related to any character ever as much as I relate to Akko Kagari, but… I just… don’t really have any strong feelings one way or another about the work on a whole.
Maybe my issue is that Little Witch Academia comes off as rather meandering to me. I’ve always felt (perhaps very wrongly!) that the focal point of the story is the relationship between Akko and Ursula/Chariot, but there’s just… so much else going on.
I can relate, though. One of my babies is the first novel I ever wrote and completed back when I was 13. There are so many ideas I have for the story, and I’ve tried to stuff everything into my drafts. But you end up with an unfocused narrative without a solid core when you do that, and I sadly feel that that’s what happened with Little Witch Academia. There’s a lot of good stuff, but it’s just too much for one story!
I will say that I enjoyed both OVAs more than the series, though, and the first OVA is my favorite.
DARLING in the FRANXX: Oh, DARLING in the FRANXX. While I definitely had the obvious problems with this show when it started, the promise of a legitimate human/non-human romance was more than enough for me to keep watching anyway.
But after episode 15… everything fell apart. The romance I was there for became boring and bland, with the leads nauseatingly reiterating how in love they were instead of actually talking to each other or dealing with any of their problems. So much potential character depth got swept under the rug, and to make matters worse, the world building revealed itself to be even more ludicrous than imagined, there were some absolutely bizarre and potentially very hurtful messages about love and sexuality that I can’t even begin to make sense of, and the less I say about the ending, the better.
Of course, a poor conclusion doesn’t always spoil what I did like about a work; I still obviously adore Kill la Kill even though I despise the finale and the OVA legitimately makes me feel ill. But DARLING in the FRANXX is one of those stories where my disappointment is so great that I kind of… don’t even want anything to do with it anymore. The stuff I had loved is soured by how everything ended up.
I still have some great DARLING content in my queue that I definitely intend to post because it’s not the fault of any fan that the final product came out so lackluster. But I’m personally just pretty done with this one.
If there’s anything I’ve learned from DARLING in the FRANXX, though, it’s that I probably should hold off on buying merchandise until I’m sure I actually really like the thing. I certainly didn’t spend anywhere near as much on this show as I have for Kill la Kill, but I still dropped a fair amount on stuff that’s kind of wasted on me.
Live and learn….

SSSS. Gridman: I got the chance to see the premiere of the first episode at Anime Expo last year, but I unfortunately can’t say I was all too fond of what I saw. I’m slow to warm up to comedies, and while I love cliches and the series definitely acknowledges and has fun with its cliches, the characters didn’t stand out enough for me to find the cliches particularly endearing.
Also, there’s absolutely no deep or meaningful reason behind it or anything, but I do not like what I’ve seen about Akane. That kind of character archetype annoys the crap out of me.
But Gridman is really neat from a directorial and compositional point of view; I really liked, for example, how there weren’t just a bunch of boring shot-reverse-shot conversations, but conversations that spent time focusing on the backgrounds and scenery and environment instead. I also feel like I’ll really, really enjoy Gridman if I actually watch it past episode 1, but… I’m bad at doing things.
I think when I do watch it, though, I’ll do a livebloggy sort of deal?
Others: I haven’t seen anything else from the studio (unless you’re counting stuff animators from Trigger have worked on, like Takafumi Hori’s contribution to Steven Universe, which are always excellent, expressive, beautiful animations), but I’m moderately excited for the upcoming Promare. The fact that it’s apparently a family-friendly film has got my interest.
And I got a kool Promare sticker already from Kumoricon last year, too!
