Owlscop

The Owl House X Petscop AU

Sprites design

I redesigned the characters' in-game Petscop sprites to fit the AU. This was very fun and I'm pretty proud of what I came up with !

Players' sprites

Golden Guardian (Guardian redesign) : This redesign follows the classic shape of the Petscop Guardian, but makes it look like the Golden Guard. It's wearing the golden Guard outfit, so does every sprite. Instead of the classic head of the Guardian, this is the Golden Gard's mask, but following the normal head shape. All the colors were color-picked from Petscop sprites to match its aesthetic. The Golden Guardian of course still doesn't have hands

There are 4 sprites for the players is Petscop. The basic one, the Guardian, is the one that represents you when you are playing the game, always. When you encounter another player though their sprite will be a Guardian with a different head. That head is something that symbolizes a specific player. This is called the Multiple Player Theory (MPT for short).

Hunter MPT Guardian : This is Hunter-Paul's avatar. Originally, Paul's avatar is called pyramid-head since its head is the red pyramid that symbolizes Care's dance. I thought : what would symbolize Hunter best ? And especially a happier Hunter ? Of course that would be Flapjack, Hunter's best friend and Palisman. Which is perfect because Flapjack is red, much like the original pyramid. It's also not a human face in both cases. To fit better the aesthetic and to symbolize the older Hunter, I decided to go with the Flapjack tattoo design as seen in Watching and Dreaming.

Belos MPT Guardian : This is Belos' avatar. It's based on Marvin's, which is originally a green mask that is quite scary in its deformity. What represents Belos needed to be green and monstrous too, which could only be his Palisman-monster face and its inhumane smile. Both Marvin's and Belos' faces are the closest to a humans face between the three MPT avatars. For this design too I tried to keep it simple with the shapes and no shading.

Amity MPT Guardian : This is Amity's avatar. It's inspired by Belle's, which is in Petscop a circle, specifically a drawing of a girl's face that we assume is Tiara aka who she thinks she is/wants to be. So for Amity, I went with the Blight Industries' logo. It represents Amity very well because it is an Abomination (what she loves most) as well as a symbol of her parents' company (who she thinks she is/should want to be, the perfect daughter, witch and heiress) and it's purple like her. It also replaces Belle's drawing perfectly since it is also a circle with a face in it.

Hunter A, B and NLM

In Petscop, we encounter care A, B and NLM in different locations. Her face in the 3 states is also drawn on a piece of paper at the beginning. She has her own sprites different from any Guardian. Since Hunter is Care in Owlscop, I changed these to look like him. Because this is Hunter-Cqre and not Hunter-Paul, the redesign looks like him back when he was the Golden Guard, especially for his outfit.

Children that went through a Rebirthing have 3 different states: A, B and NLM (Nobody Loves Me). A is for when the child is ok, B not so much and NLM is a mentally broken person.

All the colors have been color-picked from Petscop (Care and Guardian sprites).

Hunter A : This is Hunter before the abuse, as a freshly made Grimwalker. For that reason, he is a Hunter we have never seen in TOH. I removed his scar, damaged ear and characteristic dark circles. Indeed, these are all consequences of Belos' abuse. His hair though is close to what it is the first time we see him.

Hunter B : This one is close to the actual Hunter we see on TOH except more disheveled to match the evolution of Care's sprites.

Hunter NLM : This is the same design as Hunter B, but in Care NLM's pose.

Part of Spooktacular Week!

Every Halloween, there's a bunch of rips that are to be expected from the channel. Rips of Kyun! Vampire Girl, as started in Season 2, are now a mainstay, as are many other spook-centered jokes such as the 8-Bit Beast, and more recently David Pumpkins from SNL. All of these are fun and games, yet there's one yearly treat that we all look forward to: The PlayStation BIOS rips by Netyasha Roozi.

I'm sure anyone who grew up with a PlayStation 1 or PlayStation 2 will be able to tell you just how haunting those original boot-up screens were - the iconic synth notes of the PlayStation 1, and the ominous block-shaped void of the PlayStation 2, created this...imaginary world in a lot of kids' heads, the feeling that there was an entire unexplored, terrifying universe inside of these plastic-box computer systems. Netyasha Roozi would appear to have been one of these kids, and each year they pay tribute to these ominous worlds with immensely high-effort reimaginings of these worlds. Most interesting of all, most times these are also paired with equally haunting visuals, referencing either various bugs that would occur with the original PlayStation consoles, or other kinds of horror media - typically ones with a sort of direct connection to the audience, such as Petscop or Doki Doki Literature Club.

Play In MissingNo's Station is just one piece of this stellar selection of rips, and happens to be my favorite - its visuals warp and twist in such ominous, foreboding ways, the logo wobbles and warps, never quite settling down, before finally breaking out into a full-on frenzy by the halfway point. As the infamously creepy tune of Lavender Town from the original Pokémon games play, it really feels like a game losing itself to something - or someONE - inside the system, something being eaten alive with no way to call for help...

This rip debuted a whole Season before MissingNo would actually become a character part of the SiIvaGunner lore, yet made such a striking first impression right away. It's not merely an arrangement of the Lavender Town theme with the PS1 boot-up synth - the paranormal glitchcore vibe that said synth gives off materializes throughout the rip as small stutters, distortions, ebbs and flows, strange pitches up and down - it never feels as if its an arrangement that plays out "properly", yet it all just helps fuel the vibe of something being deeply wrong. Paired with its lead melody and backing synths are instruments that sound like church bells - it gives off the feeling of some sort of ritual you were not meant to see, not meant to be part of.

There's so much to uncover with ALL of Netyasha Roozi's PlayStation BIOS rips, it feels as if I'm only scratching the surface here. The visuals in all of the rips go beyond all expectation, to the point where Play In MissingNo's Station in particular has references to specific, obscure glitches from the original Pokémon games tucked away in the everchanging visuals. It's a marvel to behold these every year, and I'm so glad that this oft-forgotten piece of SiIvaGunner tradition got to be honored in RIP² (see: SING A SONG ABOUT HOPES AND DREAMS) with a medley arrangement by Netyashi Roozi herself - Fearful Medley.

Valle Verde Episode 1 Speculation and Japanese Translation

Valle Verde is a horror video series created by Alluvium. It is presented as found footage of a Playstation game called Valle Verde. It reminds me of Petscop but I might end up liking it more because it has already blown that out of the water in the first two episodes.

In this post I will go over the Japanese text in the Part 1 video, provide translations of it, and throw in some speculations I have. There isn't too much interesting in the Japanese text in Part 1, but when I get to Part 2 there's some interesting content in there.

I recommend watching the part 1 video before reading this post. Content warnings include jump scares and some low-poly gore. There may be some parts that could trigger photosensitivity as well.

For the religious imagery in part 1, Night Mind's video covers most of it.

The Japanese here just says グリーンバレー which is "Green Valley," the meaning of the Spanish title *Valle Verde*. Oddly enough, it doesn't use native Japanese words for the title, such as 緑の谷、which would be expected. I assume the creators aren't fluent in the language, though the Japanese in the rest of the episode is decent enough.

The names of the investigators here are important, particular Pablo who is mentioned in-game later. The date is Valentine's Day, but I don't know if that means anything here. Due to the Catholic themes I considered a connection to Saint Valentine but his patronage and attributes don't seem too connected to the story.

The motto of Onixware translates to "your heart (is) in our hands." The word for "heart" used can also mean "mind," which is relevant for the THBrain interface that is mentioned throughout the episode.

SIST is a real university in Shizuoka prefecture. The logo on their current website is different, and I don't know if they ever used this one in the past or if it was created for the series.

The stamp here says "approved."

*shima* just means "island." The use of the word "debug" makes it sound like the game is unfinished, which is kind of odd since it is implied to be a Japanese game that's already been translated into English, German, Italian, and Spansih, and typically back then a game would release in Japan well in advance of any overseas releases.

"Museum."

"Pub" on the left and 町役所 "town hall" on the right.

"leader" but in particular "leader of an alliance."

This is a Spanish one but the translation is off here. "Rama del conocimiento" more properly means "branch of knowledge" rather than "tree of knowledge." This is important because the series has heavy Christian themes, and The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is going to get referenced later.

"Robot Engineering"

This poster has been seen a few times before but this is the clearest view we've gotten of it so far. I'm not sure but I think it either says 僕を信じて or 私を信じて。Either of them mean "trust in me" or "believe in me." It seems to be a propaganda poster for the mayor, who has implied he gets his authority from a mysterious figure known as El Sonriente (The Smiling One).

The name Kunimochi could literally mean "one who holds the country" or "one who owns the country." It's possible the name wasn't chosen for its meaning, however.

Some Spanish text that isn't given translation.

"Archipelagos of the North - Package Delivery.

1. Free Mode - Deliver five packages and collect the reward!

2. Time Trial - Deliver the packages before time runs out!

3. Competition - Challenge Hatto to a package-delivering competition!"

Hatto must be a different character from Katto, who is shown to be a pilot cat. It's possible Hatto is a dove or pigeon, since hato has those meanings in Japanese.

The first four languages are the ones shown to be selectable at the start of the game. The bottom one looks like Enochian, a language said to have been received by angels. While it was easy for me to find the alphabet and transcribe the text, whether it means anything I'm unsure. I tried looking at some vocabularies of Enochian to try and match words, but with no good results. It's possible this is some cipher for Spanish because some of the words in the transcriptions sound vaguely Spanish to me.

Assuming it's right-to-left (the original writing order), the text in the screenshot transcribes to:

Afdi irerpi ci alretoc al raziacea

If it's left-to-right, it transcribes to:

Aecaizar la coterla ic ipreri idfa.

"The Smiling One asked me to collect 10 Face for this Carnabaal."

"Carnabaal" is a pun on Carnival and Ba'al.

"Est vir qui adest" is a Latin phrase meaning "It is the man who is before you." It is notable for being an anagram of "Quid est veritas?" meaning "What is truth?" which appears in the Vulgate translation of John 18:38. Given that this appears right after the player receives divine mercy from Jesus, it is clear that this continues the religious imagery.

Overall I'm excited to see where this series goes. I didn't really have as much to speculate on in part 1 as I will in part 2 when I make that post. I'm going to try and search more and see if somebody has managed to decipher the Enochian text since that's the only big puzzle in part 1 for me.

Something I didn't even touch on is Benjamín Solari Parravicini, the "Argentine Nostradamus" whose prophecies are prominent in Valle Verde. You can find the prophecies shown in part 1 on Alluvium's patreon. They are visible to all and include English translations.

I should be asleep rn but I saw a video on YouTube featuring the logo for Delta Airlines, which is a red triangle, and it reminded me of petscop. Like, delta in math is symbolized by a triangle and represents a change in a variable (like how slope is delta y over delta x). And Care/Paul is associated with triangles. Maybe there’s something there? idk. Both Paul and Delta Airlines being associated with red triangles specifically is prob a coincidence tho, lol

1. i think the delta symbol being a triangle is actually a really compelling theory as to why that specific symbol was chosen??! i never thought of that...and i dotn know much about the implications bcos i know nothing about the delta in math but i will look at it more in detail and post my thoughts if i find anything interesting, if it represents change that is a very compelling line of thought. thank you delta airlines thats very interesting. and thank YOU for noticing that thats probably honestly a better theory than my "it jsut so happens to be a three sided shape" theory

2. you sent this ask just in time for me to have a little more information about the red triangle! 🔺 for those who might be unfamiliar, care anna and marvin are all characters that have existed for around a decade, as they originally appeared in a much older, much less subtle and much less hopeful piece of writing by the guy who made pscop. i dont reccomend seeking it out, the author no longer stands by it afaik and it was personally too triggering for me to read last time i tried so i only know this from a friends experience (thx pall✨🎶), but curiously the red triangle appears in that work as well! i wont go into detail about it because i havent read it firsthand, but the significance that was relayed to me is that it was represented as a "midway point" in that story, which brings up a whole new slew of questions about the author's intentions. but its interesting to know that care has been associated with that red triangle for an insanely long amount of time. super neat and its a lot to think about

As much as I like the mystery and intrigue, I think its safe to say 75% of the reason I like Petscop is very surface level.

I like the Gift Plane, and the pets and the name Roneth and the little floating pieces, and the aesthetic of Gift Plane Vs Newmaker plane. The surface story of a little green monster with big ol feets who cant do doors is endlessly amusing. And all the ps1 touches like the Garalina logo and low-poly objects.

Don’t get me wrong I love all the subtle connection and lore and dark story behind it all. The red string theories and lore keep me hooked. And it wouldn't be this same with out all the uncanny elements both deep lore and surface.

But also Guardian's feet go pew pew pew

I wanted to do some art of one of my favorite host in the dark, surrounded by some references and logos of some of my favorite series by him. Petscop 2: Electric Boogaloo

The video starts where the other left of with some strange tone before skipping to the player stating he left the room for a couple of minutes, and returned to see the door open, but he hadn't done anything. From here he mentions how he doesn't know what'll happen past this, and enters the cellar. To the left he enters a room where there's a ringing phone, which gives the message "Care left the room." Next to the phone there's a board with this image:

From here he enters a new hallway, with an interact logo that I can't 100% make out, a second interact logo that shows the brick building, and a third interact logo which I can't make out. The player apologizes for not talking much, and comes across a grave stone which reads:

"Michael Hannond

1988-1995

Mike was a gift"

Next to this grave there's a building with a ground entrance and a cellar. The ground level entrance leads to a shed with a large flower, and when interacted with the flower loses it's petals one by one. In the cellar, there's a human who seems to be struggling, I assume this is either Care or Micheal. He finds a secret passage behind the shed and heads left. There's a building with pictures on the wall, and a note that looks to read "Care" at the top. Behind this building he finds a red, pillar like object that pulls up a typing screen with "Ask:?" In which he responds "What?" The words "I don't know" begin to circle behind the red pillar. Behind this is another interact logo, which shows a windmill off in the distance. The pillar than says "Keep watching the windmill." The player hesitantly complies, and a strange sound rings out twice before the video skips ahead.

He claims that nothing happened, and begins to address someone specifically, saying how he's hoping they're more enthusiastic to come home next month, and that they can investigate the game together.

To the left he finds another room, with the words "Quitter's Room" written backwards on the floor. On the edge of this room is the same room, mirrored, with this figure copying Paul's movements.

As the player explores the room, the mirrored figure begins to fall behind and the same tone from the beginning of the video plays. The player addresses this before showing a note he found on the wall, which is written backwards in purple and reads "Do you remember being born?" He heads out of the room and finds a stairwell which leads him back to the cellar door from the beginning of the video. It then abruptly ends.

So what does this all mean?

Certain characters names are written in specific colours, Care is Yellow, and Micheal is pink. Micheal was obviously a child, and was only 7 at the time of his death. I believe that Care is also a child, and the human in the cellar of the shed. The picture of the girls face in the "NLM" note looks just like the face of the human in the cellar. One thing I wish to point out are the words "Mike was a gift," specifically the word gift. In the regular game, these were a common sight, perhaps the Gift Plane is an afterlife of sorts?

I still think that website was part of the story. It was poorly designed, had an inappropriate name for a counseling service, did not display their therapy credentials or the products they claimed to sell, had a cartoonish and depressing logo, had more misspellings than just the kaptcha thing, held a lot of thematic parallels, and on top of it all, the YT channel owners answered kindly, calmly, and in character.

When witch hunting was happening in FNaF, Scott posted a direct message on both reddit and his website saying “Please do not contact any phone numbers or locations that you think are associated with the game”. He is known for being cryptic, elusive, and a troll, but when it came to real life contacts, he stated the directions clearly, firmly, and directly that there is to be no outside contact for game element hunting.

It’s a serious matter, and in this case, the Petscop channel owners were playing way too cool and nonchalant over it. That had me suspicious, especially since their response was in stark contrast to the subreddit, who were treating the incident like a real life terrorist attack where lives were lost. They retained their cryptic speech patterns and were very reassuring.

Nah, even in the best case scenario, that site wasn’t legit.

[REDACTED], and the title was in comic sans. Come on. It might as well have been titled “Herefordehsadz.com” in Fiolex Girls font.
