Sorry to bother but would you happen to have anything new for Bookstore Au? I just caught up on it and I adore it!
I didn't, but you can have a lil snippet!
--- -- --- -- --- -- ---
"I can't believe you asked her for advice," Abraxas muttered furiously. "I can't believe she came."
Tom sniffed delicately, turning his head to the side to try and hide the faint red flush that was creeping into his cheeks. Abraxas saw it regardless and was at least somewhat mollified at Tom's mortification.
He should be embarrassed.
Contacting Perenelle Flamel for love advice was absurd, and he had laughed when Tom had first floated the idea by him. But now he looked like the fool because the woman had actually shown up.
Abraxas glanced over to where Lady Flamel was with Harry. Her expression was serene, though there was a touch of amusement there too. She looked at Harry with interest, speaking little but clearly invested in the conversation.
"What is she even going to do?" Abraxas continued quietly, shaking his head. "It would take a miracle for him to catch a clue. He's as oblivious as a damn rock."
"She did manage to woo her own immortal," Tom pointed out, and like Abraxas he was studying the other two intently.
"Yes, but she had years of friendship with Nicolas before she managed to marry him. And no offence but you -" Abraxas nearly bit his tongue from how quickly he cut himself off.
Tom woodenly turned his head to face him and raised an eyebrow. "Finish your thought, Abraxas," he said with a light tone that spelled out danger.
"No," Abraxas said mulishly, crossing his arms as it that would protect him.
"Finish. It." Tom hissed, stepping towards him. "Or I'll break your kneecaps."
Abraxas paled and shrank away. "Harry wouldn't like that!"
Tom's eyes narrowed into slits, but really, if he didn't want them to use his desire for Harry's approval against him, he should have hidden it better.
"Harry wouldn't like what?"
Abraxas jolted away from where Harry stood beside him, wondering, as his pulse settled, just where the hell the other had come from.
"Nothing!" he exploded, waving his hand as if to dispel the question. Taunting Tom was one thing, but doing it in front of Harry just promised retribution that he - very likely - wouldn't live through.
Harry squinted at him suspiciously, before visibly shrugging and turning back to Perenelle with a smile. The woman appeared far too close to laughing for Abraxas' liking.

Who's your favorite void unit?? ☆
That's a difficult question, I like most of em ;_; I really like Livia and Yozuru though.
Oh wait, it's unit, not character. Hmmm
I like the idea of Perenelle a lot as she's an uber defensive unit who deals very little damage and doesn't have a way to get threat onto herself without the aid of memoria-- I think she was written to suit her character and not the meta and I like that. In practice there's nothing to really use her for though, which is a shame.
I like the idea behind Mikoto too, but I don't think her gameplay goes far enough for me. Counter/Strengthened counter and reflect debuffs are cool and all, but damn I wish we had a way to reflect all damage back to target. I think it'd be hilarious if you could activate something like that in mirrors and kill the enemy team with an ill-timed doppel on their part lmao.
hmmmm
I think my favorite gameplay unit as they are right now would be Darkness Mitama.
Darkness Mitama is just super solid and well done. Obviously she's tailor made for mirrors ranked, but I like that she while she has a ton of utility she brings, she still also comes with some self-induced downsides. For example, she was the only character for a long time to start a battle with a magia ready to fire off (before Historia Yachiyo entered the scene) but in order to do that, you'd need to equip her personal memoria, meaning that you don't get to use "better" four-star ones and she loses out on stats and other effects.
Additionally her magia/doppel doesn't have any damage attached to it, which again suits ranked fine, but idk she's still not an instant win button. She's a true support who will make your team shine but she's not going to dish out the damage to kill everyone either. I feel like her gameplay is both interestingly novel and also appropriate to her character (as Darkness Mitama that is).
I also like that inflicts Frailty on herself. I'm a big fan actually when characters inflict some sort of penalty on themselves in return for power gameplay-wise. I kind of wish we could see more of it that's pushed further than it currently is.
Writing this, I also like the OG Mitama for many of the same reasons.
Thanks for the question!

No but really when i was 9 years old and read the secrets of the immortal nicholas flamel for the first time and the flamels/flemings were introduced. And nick is this unkept guy in jeans and a tshirt, while perry is this beautiful and sharp woman, wearing a quality dress in comparison to her husband's faded clothes. And their love is so unique and filled with adoration. THAT was my butch awakening

I absolutely love how Perenelle has just had her own entirely separate side plot going on for three entire books. she got kidnapped 20 pages into book one and we've just been occasionally checking in on her for three books to find out she's absolutely kicking ass all on her own, then we go back to the main plot where Flamel and the twins are amongst multiple other very skilled people and still struggling and constantly almost dying
the author said Perenelle was much more dangerous and powerful than Flamel and then he proved it. if it had been Flamel kidnapped and Perenelle with the kids they would've already mastered all the magics and defeated the Dark Elders by now

rereading secrets of immortal nicholas flamel books, I understand that nicholas take the pain and guilt every moment, he live it every day and night, but in the other side, perenelle pushes back her guilt as far as she can so that she can live.
This is the difference between Nicholas and Perenelle, Nicholas tolerates and lives the guilt, but Perenelle runs away from that guilt so that she can live.

Why tf can Dagon drive but Mac can’t??? Dagon, who is much much older than Mac and obv had a larger jump of available technology during his og lifetime to present day than Mac, can drive but immortals like Dee and Nick and Mac can’t drive is. Low key hilarious to me.
I think they tried to excuse it as “well younger immortals (Billy and friends™️) can drive bc they haven’t been around as long” but Dagon who is the oldest non-Elder we’ve met by far completely wrecks that excuse.
Also idk when Arthurian times were supposed to be but?? Palamedes can drive and he’s quite old (I think). St Germain and Joan can also drive bc Germain got her that cute little vintage car for her birthday
But the fact that this old fish man can drive but Mr “I’ve mastered thousands of languages and quantum physics and toppled governments” can’t is hilarious to me
Also Karl Benz trying to teach Mac how to drive lmao and he can kind of drive but not really so did he just get frustrated with him being bad at it and give up halfway through or what
(jk just remembered the three wheeled car thing but I think Karl getting pissed and quitting is better)

I love that in "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" the character the series is named after is a booknerd, who can't use technology to save his life, and would have canonically died the first night he got the Codex, because he wanted to read it right away, if his wife hadn't grabbed the book from his hands and said "yo, we are about to die, move yourself".
And honestly, I respect that. It' very refreshing.
Don't get me wrong. Nicholas is extremely powerful in his own element, but the amount of times he probably would have died, if Perenelle hadn't been by his side, gets me rolling.
Now I know why he put the "we need workers, not readers" in the advertisement. He didn't need another him, but a person, who would actually do the work in the shop.
The entire time he was alone with the twins, he was like WWPD (what would Perenelle do).
Overall, I stan a king, who loves his wife, but for the love of god, Nicholas, get yourself some life skills. It's 21st century.
