percy: i don't think nico's ever gone to sleep before 5am, and its really just concerning at this point
percy: let's not even talk about jason. he wakes up at 4:45am on the dot, every morning, without an alarm clock. that's terrifying.

Btw we do all have to promise to not ship Walker and Leah. Like the very first thing we found out about Leah was that Rick said "we cast for Annabeth based first and foremost on onscreen chemistry with Walker Scobell" or however he said it and after this week I can absolutely see it.
Like up to this point I've liked her because she clearly did her research and understands the character and the story, but as of this episode, I understand why Leah Sava Jeffries was cast over every other young actress who has also read and analyzed the books and tried her level best. Because her relationship with the male lead is so important to the lifeblood of this story that is going to last years and years. And they had to cast the person who had the best onscreen chemistry with Walker Scobell.
But these are actors. It is not real. We see interviews with them and there are shades of their characters in their interactions but this is either coincidence or played up so people will talk about it online or both. In real life this is their job. They have other friends and their own families and maybe even people they like who aren't famous. It is none of our business.
And, if five years from now they do actually decide to date, because it's happened to others and sure it's a possibility, I don't want to know. I don't want anybody to know and I don't want anybody to care. Hot damn the casting for this television adaptation was incredible but that is all that it is. There are real people involved who go home at the end of the day.

At all the people talking about how they're speedrunning Percabeth:
They really aren't??
Like, they made them be friends a bit faster, sure, but by the second book they're already pretty close friends and we're already on episode 5 of an 8 episode show.
None of their scenes have been inherently romantic, they've only served to show us the development of their friendship.
It's just weird to me that people are seeing two 12 year olds, both of whom are starved for affection and have barely ever had friends, forming a close friendship and immediately call it romantic. It is probably to do with the fact that book readers KNOW that Percabeth happens, but just because it happens eventually doesn't mean every scene they have of them being close is romantic.

“Jason was so boring” “Jason had no personality” what are you talking about
Jason Grace was a child soldier and the son of the KING OF THE GODS. The pressure on him was so huge and the training of the Roman legions was so intense all he ever really did was train. As soon as he was old enough he was put in positions of leadership and power cause he’s the son of Jupiter, leader of the gods, he must be a natural born leader, right?
But his entire character arc revolves around him realising that he can be more than what the Romans made him into, that he can have his own opinions, his own hobbies, love who he wants, live where he wants.
He was the first person to start defending Nico, the first to accept Nico and tell him sincerely that there was nothing wrong with him and that everyone at BOTH camps would accept him and have his back - and if they didn’t they’d have Jason to answer to.
He was sure to always give Reyna the credit she deserved and constantly felt guilty for when he made her shoulder the responsibilities. Throughout HoH he’s got half of his mind on her, praying she’s okay, tracking her progress in his dreams because gods FORBID anything happen to that brilliant woman whom he loved platonically but wholeheartedly.
When they found Leo again after he was at Ogygia, Jason recognised in an instant just from the way Leo was sitting that something was off. When everyone pestered him with questions, Jason took charge to get the limelight off of Leo as much as possible, and checked in with him the minute they were alone.
Jason Grace is fiercely loving, always looks out for those who need support, always sides with the underdogs, always does what’s right even when it’s hard, often does what’s expected even when he doesn’t want to, but if he can take the burden off of someone else he will ALWAYS step up.
He has the honour and bravery of a soldier and carries all of the trauma and doubt that comes with it.
And on top of all of this he was just seventeen years old.
Jason Grace isn’t boring, it just took some time for us to understand why he acts the way he does - always composed and in charge. He is not perfect, but he was always trained/expected to be, and watching the perfect mask crack and seeing his true inner thoughts throughout HoO is what makes his character so interesting.

"the Gabe and Sally dynamic in the show is abusive" and "the way they've portrayed Gabe in the show is distinctly different from his book counterpart and fans can criticize that" are two discussions that can coexist

In House of Hades, Bob came for Percy but not Nico, who's supposed to have befriended him, in person.
Percy mentioned his name - he didn't even call - and Bob came jumping into Tartarus.
But he didn't assist Nico when he was half-dying (or had probably died and just self-resurrected with the DoD's absence) in there.
Why?
I don't think Bob, innocent and simple as he was, would refuse to help his friend.
So it means that Nico didn't call.
Huh. I wonder why.
Did he not call because he had been alone for so long that he'd forgotten? Did he not call because he didn't expect help, nor did he want it? Because he didn't want anyone he held dear to be in there, even when it meant being with him?
Oh. How lonely it must be to feel like that. You would go to the burning Hell for your friend, but you have no one to call when it's you who has fallen into one.
My dandelion, why did you forsake yourself.

hc that Jason has like the cutest giggle ever, like he only laughs most of the time, which is super rumbly and deep, but his giggles are just soo.. idk cute? Like his shoulders would shrug a little and he has a dimple on his left cheek that would show up (fight me, this is canon bc I said so) I feel like I can imagine he giggles super hard once, and the entire Argo ii would be dying of cuteness, I can literally imagine Percy and Leo doubling over laughing their guts out (even Nico would smile at that) bc Jason's giggle just seems super out of character for him cuz, hello? Here's the son of Jupiter, toppler of the black throne, slayer of krios, child of rome, praetor of CJ, out here giggling like a 5 year old girl?? Pure comedy, they'd never let him live that one down.

If two single characters start arguing in a "they're so annoying" way and not an "I hate them" way in a Rick Riordan book, you know those two characters are going to get together eventually.

yknow actually we don't utilize the whole "gods may appear differently to different people" worldbuilding thing enough for jokes. Like, with love gods like Aphrodite and Cupid (and presumably also Aphroditus, the Erotes, and etc) it's kind of inherent, but also like.
literally in TKC we have a whole interaction of Sadie going "Wow Anubis was so hot..." cause she saw him as some hot goth teen and Carter being confused as hell because he saw Anubis with a jackal head. In the same conversation.
Where's more scenes and jokes like that. There's a lot of opportunity here.

Nico: gods gave me three hands for a reason.
Percy: and what is the reason?
Nico, petting Cerberus: to pet a three headed dog, duh.
Jason: are we just... skipping the three hands part???

Calling show Percabeth rushed is some funny because people act like they're already dating. We get to see them develop a crush (which is canon that they had at 12) but most importantly they're building a friendship.
We're also not in Percy's POV so ofc we can see how Annabeth acts around him objectively and not how, my sweet oblivious child, Percy interprets it. Also how he acts.
Readers also know what's to come so ofc we read into their dynamic a bit differently than non-readers. But nothing about their current dynamics is inherently romantic.
They're slow burn not because they're at odds with each other or because they don't like each other. They're a slow burn because YEARNING, takes them a while to process and accept those feelings and the whole you know, fucked up circumstances they live through so they have other priorities.
