I love pepa’s face. Wish they’d given her that little extra push to take her out of the pretty disney face molds just a liiiitle bit more, but i cant complain when shes got those gaunt laugh lines, the long nose, the wiry neck tendons, really.

Sequel to my previous polls, these are suggestions I’ve been given based on different properties/media.
In case you want help to decide, here’s what I can currently tell you about each:
Alice in Wonderland: follows Antonio in Wonderland, after he follows a rabbit down a hole and so on… (you know the story, you’re just here for the character designs, aren’t you?)
Arcane: my long awaited AU that I have already shared some art for, follows Isabela and Luisa
Beetlejuice: Bruno fans, this one is for you because guess who’s playing the lead demon? Oh, and Dolores is here too
Bridgerton: like Heartstopper, this is mainly for the purpose of romance but make it regency
Carrie: I have several potential characters in mind for our leading lady, most likely Isabela or Dolores. But Pepa or even Bruno are also up there
Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind: yeah, sorry Mirabel, I’m taking your memories from you
Heathers: because Luisa (Jess) as Veronica and Isabela (Diane) as Chandler was so iconic to me
Influenced by Fairytales: I have nothing for this currently
Some pirate thing: the Madrigals but as pirates, enough said
Some superhero thing: because watching Diane in Doom Patrol gave me inspiration, okay?
The Owl House: I don’t have many ideas for this currently, just potential headcanons
Winx Club: similarly, I don’t have any plans currently, just transformation ideas

Au where Bruno IS the youngest, as in, Julieta and Pepa where older (maybe 5 and 3? Or older) when Pedro died
Just making Bruno's perspective of his father a whole more complicated
Ooh, intriguing 👀👀
***
"You would have loved him," Julieta said.
"You would have loved him," Pepa said.
"You would have loved him," Alma said.
"You would have loved him," the villagers said.
It rankled. How could it not? Of course Bruno loved his papá. Yet, did he really? He never met the man- well, no, he had but he didn't remember, because he'd only been a day old and...and...
It was so unfair.
Julieta and Pepa remembered him, even if it was only faintly. They remembered playing with Pedro, they remembered lullabies and dinners together; they remembered Pedro teaching them to read.
But they also remembered his death. Five or not, the image of your father being stabbed and trampled wasn't one you'd ever forget. Bruno could never envy that. He didn't want that.
In a way, it bonded his sisters and mother closer together. They remembered Pedro, they'd been there when the Miracle happened; when the mountains rose and the candle flared, when Casita was born. One glowing door for Alma and two more for her five-year-old twins, who instantly received magic powers. One last gift from their papí, Alma said.
If that was the case, maybe Pedro had poor taste, giving the Gift of seeing the future to awkward, clumsy, anxious Bruno.
"You look like Papá," his sisters said. They were saying it more and more as Bruno's twenty-fifth birthday approached.
"You look so much like your father," Alma said softly with a crease to her brow. She didn't quite look at him.
"You look like Pedro," the villagers said. They often spitefully added, "But you're not anything like him."
Pedro was their icon, the giver of the Miracle. Their protector. Their saviour. Perfect, brave Pedro Madrigal, who sacrificed himself without hesitation. Could Bruno do such a thing? He didn't know. Often, he felt like he didn't know anything.
Bruno looked in the mirror that morning and saw a pale reflection of his father staring back. You look like Pedro...Sure, if Pedro was short, scrawny and ugly maybe.
People looked at him and expected another Pedro. They looked at him and his Gift, and expected him to have all the answers.
They were always left disappointed.
Alma was frowning at him more and more, lecturing him all the time, sighing and shaking her head. "You need to do better, Bruno," she said impatiently.
He wondered if Pedro would have been disappointed in him too. It certainly seemed to be the implication.
A part of Bruno said it didn't matter. It wasn't as if Pedro's opinion could effect him; Pedro was gone. Pedro wasn't there to lecture him, or give him those impatient sighs and disappointed side-glances...
But he wasn't there to encourage Bruno either. He wasn't there to stand up for him, or take his side.
It was the what-if that always got Bruno in the end. The uncertainty. He was the only one in this house with no memories of Pedro Madrigal at all, yet he was the one most often compared to him. He was told to act like him. How did that add up? How was that fair?
He only ever voiced such thoughts when he was alone in his vision cave, hopelessly addressing the shade of his father, wondering if Pedro could hear him, if he even cared.
Bruno couldn't say it to anyone else.
"You would have loved him."
But would Pedro have loved him? No one ever said.

• Background •
When he was just born, the Thousand-Days War in Colombia began and his home was attacked by soldiers. His family had to flee with other people out of their village to find shelter. In order to buy some time, Pedro decided to sacrifice himself, allowing the villagers and his family to run away. After his father’s death, the miracle was created from the wedding candle Alma was holding, blessing the family with an enchanted house affectionately named Casita and protecting them from any attackers. Eventually, the Encanto grew bigger as more houses were built around their home.
Tumblr media
At the age of 5, Bruno and his sisters saw three doors appearing in the Casita. Each door was to reveal a blessing… a gift of their own and a letter on the doorknob. J for Julieta, P for Pepa and B for Bruno. Bruno’s gift is to see the future and controlling the sands of time. His iconic symbol is the hourglass. His visions of the future caused misery to his hometown, due to being cryptic and often with bleak outcomes. Because of his gift, he was considered the ‘black sheep’ of the Madrigals. He ended up being very distant to his family even before his niece Mirabel was born. Only Isabela and Dolores really knew their uncle.
After Mirabel’s Gift Ceremony being a failure, Alma was worried about the magic. She asked Bruno to look into the future and understand why Mirabel didn’t get her gift… and he saw the magic in danger, their house breaking and an older Mirabel standing in front of it. The vision was unclear, like the future was undecided.
Tumblr media
As Bruno held the emerald vision slab, he was even more worried about Mirabel than the magic itself… He knew how people would react, because he’s Bruno and everyone always assumes the worst… To protect Mirabel from being treated like an outcast, just the way he was, he disappeared.
Sadly, Mirabel was eventually left behind by her family and some villagers reminding her of her failed ceremony. Bruno’s name became taboo among his family (Especially Pepa who’s been holding grudges on him for ‘ruining’ her wedding day with Félix on a very light joke about rain, resulting in her causing a hurricane) and the townsfolk. Dolores was the only one who knew his location and never mentioned it for a decade despite her notoriety of being unable to keep secrets.
After Casita’s fall, Alma and Mirabel finally reconciled and Bruno was welcomed back to his family with opened arms, and they all rebuilt their home with the help of the townsfolk.
• Appearance •
Tumblr media
He has inherited most of his physical traits from his late father, Pedro. Thin and unkempt-looking 50 year old man with long curly black and grey hair. He has a big rounded nose, a light beard shaped like an hourglass and a thin moustache. He has green eyes, light freckles and prominent eye bags.
He wears a ripped up hooded green ruana cuffed at the elbows with hourglass prints over a burgundy shirt that represent his gift. Brown and dark trousers and black and white sandals. His clothes are visibly worn out, his ruana is rough at the edges and his collar is unbuttoned and loose. His irises glow bright green when he uses his precognitive powers.
• Personality traits •
Tumblr media
Despite his bad reputation in the village due to his gift, he’s kind-hearted and caring. His family and the villagers labeled him as someone who makes bad things happen, but he remains loyal and possesses a strong love for his family. In contrary of beliefs, he’s quiet, shy, and introvert. He’s a kind comical man who suffers with anxiety and gets easily nervous.
Mostly seen as avoidant and insecure, Bruno will open up to become more cheerful once he’s accepted back to his family. He’s extremely gentle with animals. It’s also good to note that when he performs a vision for Mirabel, he reaches for her hands and waits for her to put her hands on his before taking them gently. He does the same with Pepa when he apologises for what happened at her wedding. Contrary to Camilo’s description in the WDTAB song, Bruno is the opposite of sadistic and creepy.
After spending ten years in solitary confinement within the walls of Casa Madrigal, Bruno developed strange behaviours, such as knocking on wood, stumbling, mumbling, and developing two alternative identities, Hernando who is scared of nothing and Jorge who makes the spackle as well as befriending rats who will keep him company during his isolation. He’s also very superstitious as he would throw salt or sugar over his shoulder and recite “Sana sana colita de rana” to help healing wounds and jumping to avoid stepping on the cracks.
Tumblr media
Yet, although he claims that his seclusion from his family suits him, Bruno misses them and longs to be with them, despite their negative perception of him. He also has a complex relationship with his mother, Alma, as his gift did not meet her expectations and, according to Mirabel, she only saw the worst in him. Because of his mother’s difficult attitude, Bruno was intimidated by her and attempted to avoid her, even though he wished to make her proud.
