I don't think Joyce gets enough trauma credit for how horrific Bob's death actually was. from Hopper/anyone nor from the audience.

it wasn't even like a "come on Joyce we have to go" "no!!!! I'm not done mourning his corpse!!" moment which would be bad enough. she was forced to leave Bob behind while he was still very much alive (doomed yes), screaming and reaching out for help while being eaten by monsters. like. dang, imo that's SO much worse than if he finished dying in front of her. like, Dustin at least has closure with Eddie. Joyce gets to wonder forever how long it actually took Bob to die and whether he was aware she left him to his fate.

(I know Bob specifically told Hopper to make sure to get them out and not wait for him, so it's not like that was a betrayal or something, but still. that's rough)
