Dismantling Stereotypes at the Expense of Creating New Ones

This happens in most mental health communities, including the autism, PD, and OSDDID communities. People are so often preoccupied with dispelling stereotypes that they exclude people who fit those stereotypes and create new ones, further enforcing people into boxes.

I don't think I need to tell you why that isn't helpful, but I will anyway. You wouldn't like to be alienated from your own community, would you? Well, by perpetrating further stereotypes, you're alienating and excluding others from their communities no matter how many other people you're including. The mental health community and its subgroups are meant to be a safe and inclusive space to all struggling with certain disorders. It's not fair to only include those who fit your narrative of what people with X disorder are "actually" like.

Some examples of stereotypes the MH community has dispelled by creating new ones:

"Autistic people/People with BPD don't feel empathy" > "Autistic people/People with BPD feel hyperempathy"

"People with NPD/ASPD don't feel any type of empathy" > "People with NPD/ASPD still feel compassion/sympathy"

"People with ASPD/NPD don't feel love/emotions" > "People with ASPD/NPD feel love and emotions the same as other people"

There's more examples, but I'm only listing these.

By perpatrating these new stereotypes, you're excluding and even demonizing those that do not fit into those stereotypes. I have autism, BPD, NPD, and ASPD, I do not feel any kind of empathy nor compassion and sympathy, I do not feel love of any kind, and I have very little emotions/emotional range. I do not fit the stereotypes, and it makes me feel excluded from communities meant to be welcome for people like me. Something needs to change. Not all stereotypes need to be completely demolished. Some people still fit those stereotypes, and they deserve to feel included.

I want to see more arospec people with personality disorders

I want to see more arospec people who fit into the stereotypes. The negative stereotypes. The villian stereotypes. I want to see more arospecs disgusted by the obsession with love and instead value other things. Like integrity. Honestly. Loyalty. Being reliable, someone you can depend on—trustworthy. Sticking to a goal and not letting anyone else get in the way. Doing stupid things, but not in the name of love or romantic attraction, but rather because of boredom and self-serving purposes. Enjoying spending time with someone and understanding that your connection is “special,” but in an fp way.

Love is not enough. Romantic attraction is not everything.

I want to see more aplatonic spectrum people. I want to see aplspec people who don’t make friendships or their relationships everything. I want to see aplspec people who would not die for their friends and other people who are possibly significant to them. I want to see aplspec people focusing on themselves and working towards their own healing, to live a life worth living that is not dependent on, nor defined by other people.

Where are the aspec people with personality disorders.

All the time I see the acommunity go “you are not alone”. Well, I mean it really feels like I am. I know no aspecs in real life, I haven’t really been able to keep any aspec friends that I have met online, and it really just seems like I am genuinely alone. The acommunity is struggling with so much internalized aphobia and a devasting lack of support from non-existent allies. It feels scary and I feel very much alone attempting to openly discuss my intersectionality between my personality disorder and my aspec identity. I feel like I want to be less alone in the acommunity as an aspec with a personality disorder, but I can’t do that by myself. I need the acommunity to make room for the voices of people with intersectionality between multiple marginalized identities, and I need the acommunity to also amplify the voices of people with personality disorders to let us know we are valued here.

Some aspecs are cold. Some aspecs struggle to care about other people. Some aspecs are cold hearted. Some aspecs became aspec due to trauma. Some aspecs may have turned out differently if they grew up in a different environment. And you know what, we are still valid. Being traumatized or having a personality disorder *does not* make our aspec identity any less valid. It sucks that more aspecs (who are already significantly marginalized, forgotten, and invalidated) struggle to accept that.

All personality disorders are morally neutral and on the same level and narcissistic abuse isn't real, it's called emotional abuse. Regina Louf, a Belgian woman, was one of many witnesses (the witnesses were called X in protection of their identity) in the most famous investigation into a high profile child sex trafficking ring which ended with the arrest of ONE person Marc Dutroux, who was a nobody anyways. On the other hand Louf was ridiculed by the media and basically called a liar and crazy person despite the fact she knew details that weren't revealed to the public and she even had information about a murder (Louf actually witnessed the murder) the police originally didn't link to the pedophil network.

You can read her book online but beware it is awful. I would say the last part about the investigation and how it was sabotaged are the most important parts. Even if you don't believe this woman's story there is no explanation for such a fuck-up of the investigation other then it was intentional.

People accused in the Dutroux case

None of these people were convicted.

Regina Louf wasn't the only witness in this case but she was the only one revealing her identity to the public. This case was much bigger than the Epstein case in the sense that people protested for weeks if not months to pressure the police to do their job and persecute perpetrators but since these crimes tie together the most powerfull circles in our society it ended with a blatant cover up. Belgium sure is a small country but it is the headquarters of the European Union and NATO.

This story is 30 years old but I could have made the same post about the Epstein case, these circles probably connect.

Ask the police and politicians why the victims can't name their abusers. Ask journalists why these cases aren't reported or aren't big news. The few who dare to investigate end up murdered. Take a look at what kind of news stories are you bombarded with instead? What kind of social issues are you supppsed to care about? It is almost like the world is run by pedophiles.
