yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.

to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!

i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.

also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.

they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.

they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.

i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

Of course! Apologies for the late response, I saw this at like 1am four days ago, forgot everything I knew about bats, and then fell asleep and only remembered I even got this ask today. Anyways! Some bat facts :)

Common Vampire bats are some of my absolute favourites, mostly because of their ability to run on the ground! They can gallop with their forelimbs and take off from the ground by leaping into the air and catapulting themselves with their wings, which is speculated to be how Pterodactyls took off as well! Most bats cannot take off from the ground, and must be elevated to take flight, so this is pretty cool. Makes sense too, since they mostly feed from the ankles of large mammals and so need ground maneuverability!

Here's a video of a vamp taking off, and here's a video of one walking around! I think their skittery movements and lil' faces are just the CUTEST, but I know I'm probably in the minority there. Also there's a large dish of blood in the second video, so fair warning there!

All three true Vampire bats have evolved special grooves in their mouths in order to act as a gutter of sorts to funnel the blood into their mouths, but the exact arrangement differs between them. The Hairy-Legged Vampire bat has a groove along the roof of the mouth, whereas the White-Winged and Common Vampire bats have lingual grooves under the tounge! Speaking of White-Winged Vampire bats, they're the only bats in the world with 22 teeth, for some reason (likely no reason since the molars are vestigial), AND they have scent glands in their mouths that might be used to deter predators. Pretty cool stuff!

Finally, all three species of true Vampire Bats are cute as hell. Look at these lil' guys!!

I love them so much #they aren't scary at all! being a hematophage doesn't automatically make a creature scary or bad in any way #No worse than being a carnivore. the blood to blood contact makes them vectors for disease but that's not their fault #besides so would being carnivorous if they didn't have to kill their prey most of the time lol #I love and appreciate these beasts. For the love of god the statements “Homura isn’t a horrible person she just wants to protect the people she loves” and “Homura has done some morally dubious actions and that should not be over-looked” aren’t two mutually exclusive statements and I’m tired of some people pretending that they are

Another GA question ❤️ How much of Raph's protective, responsible personality shows in GA!Raph? (Nature vs nurture) How does it affect him being an only child growing up?

So - GA!Raph is definitely still protective. That, in my opinion, is a trait that he never really loses; it's intrinsic - much like how Donnie is always innovative, Leo's always clever, and Mikey is always empathetic.

The difference comes more in the form who he's protecting and why.

Like Raph, Draxum is an inherently protective person - he wants to protect the yokai from the human threat, and he'd be instilling that same ideal upon Raph from the time that he's small. However, Draxum's methods are a bit...different. He's a soldier and he has a soldier's mindset, not an older brother's. His way of thinking is more along the lines of "we fight as one, but everybody is responsible for their own survival." So he'd train Raph to be capable of taking care of himself and not need to rely on anyone else to get by.

On the other hand, Draxum is not Raph's only influence - he spends a majority of his early years with Huginn and Munin (until he's old enough to begin training.) And while H&M and are not...the most responsible role-models (lol), they do impress good examples upon him for how to be caring and supportive of the people you love. Their relationship, and his relationship with them, is most likely a big factor in why Raph starts wanting brothers of his own. ❤

But making the change from an only child who wants to be a big brother to actually being a big brother is...well, it's going to be a learning experience for him, to say the least. He's not used to having other people to look out for all the time, and he's definitely not used to dealing with such a wide range of personalities, lol!

It'll be fun to see him grow from that, I think.

i know i only introduced these guys like 2 weeks ago but i've managed to get emotional about them as if i've had them for years. it's mainly because their actual story is really personal to me... but also i just like them

I can sleep well knowing that canonically when Steve loves he’s loves really hard. Eddie has never felt so much love in his entire life and with Steve it’s always consistent. Steve going out of his way to call Eddie beautiful, doing anything he can just to hold him close, the endless amount of “I love you’s” when they’re together, hand holding ect. Steve is just so passionate when it comes to the person he’s In a relationship with and Eddie gets to be that person who feels that amount of love every single day. Ugh I just love it.

I was teaching Ophelia’s death scene this week and one of my classes spontaneously giggled when she died (because they are 16 years old and emotionally immature) and I said, in a shocked voice, “it is NOT funny” and they all insisted that it was and so I let it go but then the next day I showed them some Ophelia art, made them think about how sinister it was that her death happens offstage but is still described in such detail for the viewer, which tells us she was WATCHED but not HELPED as she died, and then played a clip from Branagh’s Hamlet of Kate Winslet singing a mourning song for her father and when I tell you how satisfying it was to hear a total and complete hush fall over the room

#finn's ocs #finn's art #oc references #YAY finally posted them #the smart guys set....#i was excited for this set regardless bc they all have their own like specific reasons theyre in the scholars guild #like different things theyre following. except for arguably talitha but shes like. a baby #shes more geeky than nerdy. but she would hang out in their huge library a lot and just sort of ended up joining #mercury herself is obviously the leader but her thing is moreso about spreading the message of the previous guildmaster (minerva)#while keid is more of a philosopher (so good at rumination might as well make a passion of it lol)#and like i said alasia is an archeologist (and historian!). and i describe navi as a blacksmith bc thats the title theyd be given-#but hes more of an engineer. doing cool new innovative things. so they and alasia have this sort of future/past passion thing #dimidium is a medic lol but bc of the way her power works its a bit more complicated #when i say reverse healing i mean he can literally just make you worse. Injury Power.#misam is like the edgiest of the batch for sure but dont be fooled theyre still more nerd than edgelord #the reason they can be so ruthless is because theyre very calculative about their choices #not in the same overthinking-type way keid is but in the sense that they can be a bit... ends justify the means?#not that they dont care about ethics at all but unlike keid they wouldnt get caught up in them #the most direct approach is the best one and all that. theyre a utilitarian.#(misams top was also more risque at first but i decided to have them button up a bit lol)#and perwana is an acolyte (aco-light. lol) in the sense that her goal really is just to spread knowledge #shes the most similar to mercury in that sense which makes her probably the first candidate for the next guildmaster rn #bc thats also the thesis statement of the guild itself!#they have a big open library for a reason. well. mostly open #but thats them :)
