At the art space "StandBy" [..], the installation "Paldarium Tachiko & Yasutoshi" is being held by the creative group "AMKK (Toshin, Flower and Tree Research Institute)" that pursues new values of flowers and plants.
On display in this exhibition are a group of works in which pine bonsai are placed in a miniature version of the paludarium, a miniature greenhouse that was popular as a pastime for aristocrats in 19th century England. By incorporating the function of artificially incorporating water, wind, light, and sound with modern technology, we have created an environment where plants can grow regardless of the external environment.
My first paludarium is gone because my colleagues wanted more fish in the tank so much that they bought it without discussion, and I was forced to convert the paludarium into aquarium.
Here goes my second paludarium -
this one is for me only, no fish, no shrimp, just moss, a rescued fern from the previous project and selaginella, my love❤️
Fingers crossed most of those plants will survive!\(*°*)/
A vivarium is any container that holds animals and/or plants in natural or semi-natural conditions. Basically a contained ecosystem.
An aquarium is a fully-aquatic vivarium with minimal or no out-of-water features.
A riparium is a vivarium that is largely aquatic but has some above-water features. Typically modelled after shorelines or wetlands.
A terrarium is a vivarium that is fully terrestrial with minimal to no water features.
A paludarium is a vivarium that incorporates both terrestrial and aquatic features in a balanced way.
All of them are incredibly sexy, and you should make one, even if it's small and simple and low-maintenance. It is scientifically proven that learning about the nitrogen cycle will make your pp larger, your skin clear, and make you an overall more pleasant and happy person.
today i was looking at terrariums and paludariums on pinterest and i thought to myself 'hmmm they should make a life sized terrarium it would be so cool to live in one'. motherfucker. thats called a fucking forest.
I made a paludarium. The land area is composed of great stuff foam on an egg crate light diffuser. After curing and carving, I used aquarium safe silicone, and covered it in lava rock/sand. I then added a submersible pump for the water feature, the Driftwood, and planted the plants in a mixture of fluval aquasoil and sphangum moss.
You can see the setup and initial planting on the bottom and the final product after two weeks growth and added moss on top. Hopefully will be stocked with Youkihi Medaka and cherry shrimp!
