Odin - The All-Father
Not my usual religious content, everyone! Please see more for details.
This blog is mainly dedicated to Hellenic polytheism. I really love to keep all my religious things nicely sorted in different blogs here, but I don't have a norse pagan one (yet...?). I hope to fill this blog up with other art pieces of different Gods one day (or maybe create yet another one HAHAHA), but it's only wishful plans for now.
Please do check out my lovely partner, if you'd like to see more norse paganism content!
About the art itself - long story short one day I got inspired to draw Odin and that's what I'd love to share w y'all today!

Medusa
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Medusa鈥檚 story symbolizes silencing powerful, beautiful women and the dangers of the female fatale being both enchanting yet deadly. Once an enthralling woman, Medusa was cursed by Goddess Athena after she was raped by Poseidon. This story symbolizes the normalcy of rape culture and societal blame on the victim, not the perpetrator. Her head also represents power. The ability to destroy one鈥檚 enemies. It has also been used as a protective symbol such as during the French Revolution to symbolize freedom and liberation. Today she still symbolizes divine feminine rage. A glaring symbol against patriarchal oppression as a women who had her bodily autonomy taken away and who was forced to live a life she did not choose as many of our female ancestors did. And many women still do today. All my paintings are acrylic on canvas. This piece sold the first day I had it hanging in my art vendor booth. It鈥檚 a funny thing the high rush of selling your art mixed with the grief of forever loosing a piece of yourself.

"Monarch of the Sky"
I've decided to make all the gods and not just the ones I feel personally close to! Zeus is the king of the gods, the god of sky and thunder in mythology, among other things. He's got a rocky reputation in the modern times due to the modern reading of his mythology and the way he tends to be with women, but he's a powerful god to work with in any case. He can give you determination and a sense of power in yourself.
I sell this art over on my Etsy! If you like it and want it, you can get it there. I'm trying to make art a more full time career.

Working with the entire sketchbook page tonight... I realized after I started working that the page didn't have the dimensions for what I was hoping to do, which is fine, actually. That's why this is is a sketch.
