IPL 2024: There are no plans to rest Bumrah before the T20 World Cup, says MI batting coach Pollard.
Mumbai Indians have no plans to rest India pacer Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the T20 World Cup despite being out of contention for the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs, batting coach Kieron Pollard said. MI beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets on Monday after Suryakumar Yadav (102 not out) hit his second IPL century. The win helped MI end their four-match losing streak and register their…

IPL 2024: ‘The Impact Player Rule Changes Things A Fair Bit For Bowlers’ Feels Mitchell Starc
Tumblr media
The Impact Player: Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Mitchell Starc feels ‘Impact Player rule changes things a fair bit’ for the bowler in the IPL 2024 after the star pacer claimed a four-fer to guide Kolkata Knight Riders to 24-runs victory over Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium after 12 years. The Australian pacer entered the tournament with a weight of expectations on his shoulders, having been the most expensive pick ever at an IPL auction. However, his performance on the field didn't quite match the anticipation initially. Starc had just seven wickets and an economy of 11.78 in his first eight outings, and had conceded more than 50 three times. On Friday, he bounced back with 4 for 33 in Kolkata Knight Riders' 24-run win over Mumbai Indians, and said the Impact Player rule has made things easy a bit for the bowlers. “The Impact Player rule changes things a fair bit," Starc said at the press conference. "Everyone gets to bat a lot deeper having a batting and a bowling XI. There's a lot made of that rule throughout the tournament and there's been a lot of high scores, which is the nature of the wickets and the grounds we play on here. When you have batters and batting allrounders come in at Nos. 8 or 9, it's a long batting line-up.” “There's no fear in the powerplay when all you have to do is to clear the infield and score runs. Certainly, there has been some really good batting, don't get me wrong, it's not just the rules that play a part there. There's been some fantastic scoring, some fantastic partnerships and some individual brilliance with the bat,” he added. With a stellar performance against MI on Friday night, Starc not only silenced his critics but also showcased his resilience and determination. His four-wicket haul played a pivotal role in Kolkata Knight Riders' victory, proving his worth in the team. Reflecting on his turnaround, Starc emphasized the importance of adapting to the conditions and strategizing accordingly. "I haven't changed too much," he said. "It's about assessing conditions after the first innings. We certainly spoke about it and the batters that came off throughout that first innings mentioned the wicket and the lengths that were the hardest to face. That created the bowling plans for us. “As T20 cricket doesn't always go the way you want it to go, and of course I wanted to go a bit better at the start. But I am not the only bowler going for runs. It is what it is. The fact that we sit second and are building towards the more important games at the back end and are playing some good cricket, hopefully I can be a part of it too.” Looking ahead, Starc remained unfazed by the impending T20 World Cup, expressing confidence in his ability to manage his workload effectively. With his focus firmly set on contributing to KKR's success in the IPL, he viewed the tournament as valuable preparation for the international stage. It's T20 cricket, it's not as demanding as Test match cricket," he said. "Physically it is not a problem and it's fantastic lead-in to play here in the best T20 league in the world. You're playing some high-quality cricket leading into the World Cup, a lot of players at this tournament are going to be at the World Cup. "In that regard, it's a great thing to see and test your skills. In terms of length of time, that's part and parcel of international cricket. My main focus is to play in Lucknow in two days' time. The World Cup is next month - at this moment, it's trying to help KKR win the tournament.” Starc expects the T20 World Cup to provide a more even contest between bat and ball, unlike the IPL where totals of over 200 have been commonplace. “There's no Impact Player rule , so whether that affects the scores is yet to be seen. I think it probably will. People talk about the balance of the team when you can't just bring someone in. Your allrounders come back into play. Captains have to think a bit tactically, too, when you have just 11 players. It's been interesting to experience it first-hand in the IPL.” Amidst his individual achievements, Starc commended the camaraderie within the KKR camp, particularly highlighting the young fast bowlers in the squad. Harshit Rana played all games before his one-match suspension and has taken 11 wickets at an economy of 9.78. Vaibhav Arora has picked up nine wickets in six outings at 9.42. Despite his experience, he approached his interactions with humility, aiming to lead by example and foster a supportive environment within the team. "I am a bit more experienced and a bit older, at the same time I haven't played a lot of T20 cricket," Starc said of his interactions with them. " working off each other in a way. "I am certainly not there to tell people what to do, I am happy to answer questions if they have or look to lead more by example at training and get my work in. We are a pretty good group, the whole group of players and staff is awesome to be around. "I would like to think I am approachable, so happy to train with the boys. I was training with Harshit Rana the other night, made him run extra which he wasn't happy about (laughs). But no, it's a great group and a lot of time we have a lot of fun.” Read the full article

Hardik Pandya's T20 World Cup Dilemma: Bowling Holds the Key
Hey cricket enthusiasts! Today, let's delve into the high-stakes discussion surrounding Hardik Pandya's inclusion in India's T20 World Cup squad. With selectors, coach Rahul Dravid, and captain Rohit Sharma in deliberation, Pandya's fate hangs on a crucial aspect: his bowling prowess.
Tumblr media
In a recent rendezvous at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, a pivotal meeting unfolded, underscoring the significance of Pandya's bowling contribution. It's no secret that Pandya's resurgence in the Indian team hinges on his ability to deliver consistently with the ball. As the selectors weigh their options, the all-rounder's performance in the ongoing IPL serves as a litmus test for his World Cup aspirations.
Despite Pandya's prowess with the bat, his bowling form has raised eyebrows. Amidst adverse reactions from fans and a tumultuous run in the IPL, Pandya finds himself under scrutiny. The clamor for his return to the bowling crease grows louder, highlighting the integral role he plays in providing the team with the much-needed balance.
However, Pandya's IPL outings paint a mixed picture. While he has showcased glimpses of his bowling prowess, inconsistency plagues his performance. His economy rate of 12.00 and a modest tally of three wickets underscore the challenges he faces in reclaiming his bowling mojo.
The absence of swing and Pandya's struggle to create impact with the ball pose pressing concerns. In a format where every delivery counts, his ability to hit the right areas and deliver crucial breakthroughs remains paramount. The selectors, cognizant of the team's needs, seek a seam-bowling all-rounder capable of turning the tide in crunch situations.
Amidst the debate surrounding Pandya's role, another contender emerges: Shivam Dube. With a penchant for power-hitting and an improved game against pacers, Dube presents a compelling alternative. However, his limited contribution with the ball raises questions about his suitability for the role.
As India's quest for a seam-bowling all-rounder intensifies, the spotlight remains firmly on Pandya. With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, every performance, every delivery assumes heightened significance. Can Pandya rediscover his bowling mojo and secure his spot in the squad? Only time will tell.
The road to the T20 World Cup is fraught with challenges, but with the right balance and determination, Team India aims to conquer new heights. Stay tuned as the saga unfolds, and cricket's finest prepare to showcase their mettle on the world stage.
Until next time, keep your eyes on the pitch and your spirits high as we embark on this exhilarating journey together!

Khelostar - WPL 2024 Eliminator: RCB vs MI - Fight for the Final!
The pressure is on! It's do-or-die time in the WPL 2024 Eliminator as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) takes on Mumbai Indians (MI) in a high-stakes clash. The winner advances to the coveted WPL final, while the loser's journey ends. Get ready for an electrifying battle between two T20 powerhouses!
Tumblr media
Brace yourselves, cricket fans! The WPL 2024 Eliminator is upon us, and it promises to be a nail-biting encounter. Two of the most decorated teams in the league, RCB and MI, go head-to-head in a winner-takes-all contest with a place in the grand finale on the line. The atmosphere will be electric as both teams boast passionate fan bases and a rich history of success in women's cricket.
RCB's Road to Redemption:
RCB, known for their aggressive batting approach, have had an eventful WPL 2024 campaign. They started strong, showcasing exceptional batting firepower and a potent bowling attack. However, a few inconsistent performances saw them slipping down the points table. But RCB displayed their fighting spirit by winning crucial matches in the latter stages to secure a crucial playoff spot. Their batting, led by the explosive Smriti Mandhana and the dependable captain Harmanpreet Kaur, has been a key factor. Openers Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues have provided RCB with a solid foundation, while the middle order, featuring Richa Ghosh and Pooja Vastrakar, has the ability to accelerate the scoring rate. RCB's bowling attack, spearheaded by the wily Renuka Singh and the experienced pacer Jhulan Goswami, has the potential to dismantle any batting lineup. However, their bowling depth will be tested against a strong MI Cricket batting unit.
MI's Fight Back:
MI, the five-time champions of the men's IPL, have had a challenging journey in the inaugural WPL season. Injuries to key players and inconsistencies in their batting order have hampered their progress. However, the resilience that MI is known for has shone through in recent matches. They have clawed their way back into contention with some inspiring performances, showcasing their never-say-die attitude. Their batting, reliant on the experience of Mithali Raj and the explosive talent of Shafali Verma, needs to fire on all cylinders. The middle order, comprising Harmanpreet Kaur (playing for MI in this match) and the hard-hitting Yastika Bhatia, needs to contribute significantly. MI's bowling attack, boasting the swing of Pooja Vastrakar and the spin duo of Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, is a force to be reckoned with. If they can click in unison, they can restrict the high-scoring RCB batting lineup.
Who Will Emerge Victorious?
This match promises to be a close contest. RCB's batting firepower gives them a slight edge, but MI's experience and never-give-up attitude cannot be overlooked. The team that handles pressure better and executes their skills flawlessly will emerge victorious.
Khelostar Prediction:
The Khelostar crystal ball predicts a close encounter! Both teams are evenly matched, and the outcome hinges on crucial moments and individual brilliance. RCB's batting depth might be the deciding factor, but MI's experience in high-pressure situations shouldn't be underestimated.
Join the Excitement!
Don't miss the WPL 2024 Eliminator between RCB vs MI! Share your predictions on the Khelostar website and join our vibrant online community to discuss the match. Will RCB book their place in the final, or will MI stage a dramatic comeback? Tune in and witness cricketing history unfold!

Ishan Kishan Overlooks BCCI Directive, Triggers Controversy By Missing Ranji Trophy Match
India wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has been in the headlines for a while because he decided to miss the Ranji Trophy in favour of personal practice, in the wake of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Ishan, who has been out of the India squad since withdrawing from the tour of South Africa, owing to mental fatigue, remains away from all sorts of cricketing commitments despite being urged by head coach Rahul Dravid and others in the BCCI to resume playing.
Tumblr media
Ishan was informed by the BCCI management to play Jharkhand's final Ranji Trophy Elite Group match against Rajasthan, starting February 16. But, the wicket-keeper batter gave that match a miss. It wasn't just him but pacer Deepak Chahar, who also has been away from cricketing action for a while, decided to overlook his Ranji Trophy commitments.
A few weeks ago, reports emerged that Ishan Kishan has been training with Hardik and Krunal Pandya at the Reliance Stadium. Several reports emerged, suggesting the BCCI isn't happy with Ishan's attitude, directing him to return to domestic cricket and join Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy team.
But, as Jharkhand announced their playing XI for the match against Rajasthan, Ishan's name couldn't be found.
Earlier, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that the board isn't going to 'tolerate the tantrums', asserting that young players who aren't injured have to play red-ball cricket for their state teams.
"They have been informed on phone already and I'm going to write letters as well that if your chairman of selectors, your coach and your captain are asking for it then you will have to play red-ball cricket," Shah had said.
"(It applies to) whoever is fit and young - we are not going to tolerate any other tantrums. This message is for all centrally contracted players. Everyone will have to play, otherwise, the chairman of the selection committee has given me his suggestions and I am going to give him a free hand to let him take his own calls freely," he had asserted.
India batter Shreyas Iyer, who was not picked for the last three Tests against England, didn't feature in the Mumbai XI either. It isn't yet known if he is injured or didn't make himself available for the Ranji Trophy team.
These three players -- Kishan, Chahar and Iyer -- were specifically told to play for their respective state teams in first-class cricket.
In the absence of Kishan, Kumar Kushagra continued doing wicket-keeping duties for Jharkhand.
Jharkhand, who have only one win and 10 points from six matches so far, are playing Rajasthan at home in their final round.
The manner in which Kishan has missed match after match since returning midway from the national's team South Africa tour citing "travel fatigue", hasn't gone down well with the men who matter in the Indian cricket establishment.
More so after it was found that he was training in Baroda with his new Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya while his state team languished near bottom of group A table in Ranji.
There is a general consensus that a strict policy needs to be adhered to so that a group of young players don't make "playing IPL to IPL" a habit.

WPL 2024: MI s Shabnim Ismail Bowls The Fastest Delivery In Women s Cricket
Tumblr media
Former South Africa: Former South Africa pacer Shabnim Ismail, who plays for Mumbai Indians in the Women's Premier League, created history when she bowled the fastest delivery ever recorded in women's cricket. Ismail broke the record with a delivery that clocked the speed of 132.1km/h (82.08mph) when bowling for the Mumbai Indians in their WPL clash against the Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. It was the first time that a delivery in women's cricket has been clocked at a speed greater than 130km/h, with Ismail's thunderbolt smashing into the pad of former Australia captain Meg Lanning on the second ball of the third over of the match, ICC reports. Ismail, who appeared for South Africa in all eight previous ICC Women's T20 World Cups and only retired from international cricket following last year's tournament on home soil, had previously been clocked as bowling at 128km/h (79.54mph) against the West Indies in 2016 and at 127km/h twice during the most recent edition of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in 2022. However, Ismail's efforts were in vain as she delivered four expensive overs to finish with figures of 1/46 as the MI went down to the DC by 29 runs. Read the full article

Sarfaraz Khan Handed Test Cap By Anil Kumble. Father Can't Control His Tears
It was a huge moment for Sarfaraz Khan as the 26-year-old batter was handed his debut ahead of the third Test match between India and England in Rajkot on Thursday. Sarfaraz enjoyed an exceptional run of form in the domestic circuit over the last couple of years and he was handed his Test cap by legendary spinner Anil Kumble just before the toss. With Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul all missing out, Sarfaraz will partner with Rajat Patidar and fellow debutant Dhruv Jurel in the middle order. Sarfaraz's father was present at the ground and he could not control his tears during the ceremony.
Tumblr media
India won the toss and elected to bat against England in the third Test of the five-match series.
We're going to bat first. We've made some changes, made four changes. Some injuries and some guys coming back from the last game. Two debutants. Siraj and Jadeja are back. Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar miss out. Looks a good pitch, better than the last two we've played on. Rajkot is known to be a good pitch but it'll deteriorate as it goes. The guys have stood up and done the job for the team when it was needed. The next three Test matches will be as exciting as the first two. Need to keep our focus here and see how we can do well," India skipper Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
The series is locked at 1-1 as England captain Ben Stokes is appearing in his 100th Test.
India handed debuts to middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan, a heavy scorer in domestic cricket for Mumbai, and young wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel, who will replace KS Bharat in the playing eleven.
England have brought back pacer Mark Wood in place of young spinner Shoaib Bashir.

IPL 2024: Sunil Gavaskar's Confidence in Ashish Nehra Steering Gujarat Titans to Top Four Again
India’s cricketing icon, Sunil Gavaskar, has expressed his unwavering belief in Ashish Nehra’s coaching prowess, anticipating another top-four finish for the Gujarat Titans in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
Tumblr media
The Gujarat Titans, under the mentorship of former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra, achieved the remarkable feat of clinching the IPL 2022 title in their inaugural season. Led by Hardik Pandya, the Titans displayed dominance throughout the tournament, earning plaudits for their exceptional performance.
Despite their loss in the final of IPL 2023 to the Chennai Super Kings, the Titans’ journey to the summit clash underscored their competitive spirit and potential for excellence. However, the team dynamics shifted with Pandya’s departure to the Mumbai Indians, prompting Shubman Gill’s appointment as the new captain.
Sunil Gavaskar, renowned for his cricketing acumen, remains optimistic about the Titans’ prospects under Nehra’s guidance. Speaking on Star Sports during an IPL discussion, Gavaskar emphasized Nehra’s adept coaching skills, which propelled the Titans to successive top-four finishes in previous seasons.
“Ashish Nehra will be the guiding force behind the team. With his expertise and mentorship, along with the leadership of Shubman Gill, I believe the Gujarat Titans can secure another top-four berth,” Gavaskar stated.
While acknowledging the challenge of filling Pandya’s void, Gavaskar expressed confidence in Gill’s leadership abilities and batting prowess. He lauded Gill’s impressive form in the previous IPL season and highlighted the impact of his batting consistency on team morale.
“Shubman Gill’s stellar performance last year speaks volumes about his potential. His success on the field not only boosts his own confidence but also inspires the team to strive for excellence,” remarked Gavaskar.
Gill’s recent century for the Indian Test squad against England further solidified his credentials as a reliable performer. As Gill aims to carry forward his momentum into IPL 2024, the Titans look poised for another compelling campaign under Nehra’s astute guidance.
In the competitive landscape of IPL cricket, the Gujarat Titans emerge as a formidable contender, driven by a blend of experienced coaching and youthful talent. As the anticipation builds for IPL 2024, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the unfolding drama and spectacle that define India’s premier T20 league.
