A simple and delicious very common food in Catalonia: toasted bread with tomato rubbed on it, a drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of salt, and topped with a charcuterie meat or cheese of your choosing. In this case, a piece of botifarra (a Catalan pork sausage).

Tumblr media
Moving from your native country of Spain to Manchester in England with your fiancée Leila was a lot to get your head around.
Meaning you had to leave your tattoo business in the hands of your sister which wasn’t the best for you however moving overseas would be good to have a break for a while.
This is how you met Leila. Most of the Barcelona players, female and male got their tattoos done by you. One that attended the parlour the most was Mapi León, she brought Leila along with her one day so they could both get tattoos done.
The brunette decided on an Egyptian eye under her right boob, you were quite surprised at her choice of where the tattoo was to be but you caught a glimpse of lust in her chocolate eyes when she said it.
She kept making excuses to come to your tattoo parlour when she wasn’t playing football just to see you. You soon picked her up on it and she admitted her feelings to you which you were flattered by but you did feel the same way.
After dating for three years she plucked up the courage to ask you to be her wife, you obviously said yes to.
“Bueno, okay, i’ll see you when you get home, te amo mucho.” You blew kisses at the camera, you phone propped up in the kitchen.
“Te amo mucho!” Leila pouted back at you before you pressed the red hang up button.
Tonight you were having a Spanish night which you had every friday, every two weeks you would invite Ona and Laia around, who played football with Leila but tonight it was just you two.
You connected your phone to your speaker, blasting the likes of Rosalía, Bad Bunny, Bizarrap etc. Dancing around the kitchen as you made Pa amb tomàquet.
Making paella was your absolute favourite, everyone loved it, even some of Leila’s english teammates that had came over one night who don’t really like seafood said it was to die for.
You had it in the large dish as Despechá began to play, it was your all time favourite song you couldn’t help but sing and dance along as you cleared up. The music was so loud you didn’t hear Leila come in, she was enjoying watching you move your hips along to the beat.
“Oh hõla bebé.” She bit her lip, making you jump.
“LEILA!” You shouted, throwing a towel at her, “Lo siento but you scare me!”
“Lo siento i was enjoying the show.” She said as you sent her a look.
“Stop it.” You rolled your eyes turning the music down slightly.
“Food smells amazing as usual.” Your fiancée complimented.
“Gracias, why don’t you go and get changed and i’ll set the table.” You suggested which she agreed.
She returned in a hoodie, shorts and socks sitting opposite you, “I’ve been looking forward to this all day.”
“Let’s eat then.”
You plated up both dishes, taking a mouthful of the seafood dish, “Bebé this is incredible.”
A massive smile appeared on your face as she took a second mouthful.
Once you’d eaten, you both decided to crash into your large bed and watch a movie,“What you want to watch?” Leila asked pulling you onto her lap.
“Desperado.”
“Your favourite.” The defender hummed into your hair.
As the movie played Leila began stroking your face, tracing your freckles embedded into your skin. Her actions tended to send you to sleep, you quickly rolled over so she would stop, “Y/N why did you move.”
“Because i would’ve fell asleep else.” You replied taking your sports bra off.
“What are you doing.”
“What i’m hot.” You shrugged going back to the same position you were in before, “You copying me now?”
She laughed taking her own bra off, “Maybe.”
As the movie went on you noticed Leila becoming distracted, playing with your hair not paying attention to the movie. “Leila querida what are you thinking about.”
“You.” She mumbled.
You sighed, “Why is that mi amor.”
“You do everything for me i appreciate it, you cook, you clean, you work, you even moved to Manchester with me.” She said.
“Of course I try my best to look you, your going to be my wife after all.”
“I know and I can’t wait.”
“Me too querida.”

I like to imagine that the Stars specialize in cooking the cuisines of the cultures or ethnicities they’re associated with, either via general aesthetics or because of their creator’s ethnicity or native culture- If, uh, that makes sense, haha. Hope you don’t mind me ramblinggg- Also Ink gets more because he’s got two cultures I associate him with whoops-
Like! I think Ink would be good with French and Japanese cuisine, since Comyet has stated he’s french and his aesthetic is largely based on Japan, I believe? Or maybe just eastern Asian culture, but I’ve largely seen most people specifics Japan. From French cuisine, I really enjoy the idea of him making, like, macarons and crêpes (both French and Japanese styles!), as well as more savory stuff, like aligot and gougère (both involve cheese because for some reason Ink strikes me as the type to enjoy cheese???). He also strikes me as the sort to like drinks with fun names, like rinquinquin (a peach flavored alcoholic beverage!). From Japanese cuisine, I could see him loving mizu manjū (very pretty clear buns with a bunch of different fillings, they’re gorgeous and very artsy looking!) and shirokuma (shaved ice mixed with condensed milk and decorated to look like a bear!), and I could see him really enjoying age-onigiri (rice ball that’s been fried!) and takoyaki. Drink wise, since Comyet says he likes burnt food, I could see him enjoying akumochizake (sweet rice wine made with charcoal or ash), or maybe matatabicha (tea made from silver vine, because Ink has big cat vibes haha).
Dream would be good with Spanish cuisine (though I imagine he specializes in sweet no matter where they come from, but that! Isn’t! What I’m focusing on!). If we’re talking Spanish sweets, I see him being good at most of them, but I think he’d like smaller stuff or handheld foods the most, like pionono (small cylindrical pastry soaked with syrups and topped with toasted cream) or churros (which are actually commonly a breakfast item in Spain, he’d love it!), and for savory food, I could see him enjoying stuff easy to eat on the go, like pinchos morunos (skewers of diced pork or chicken marinated with olive oil and other spices) or pa amb tomàquet (toasted bread rubbed with tomato and seasoned with olive oil and sea salt!). For drinks, I could see him liking agua de cebada (malted barley mixed with sugar and lemon!) or calimocho (red wine mixed with cola).
Blue is difficult for me because I can’t find anything solid about associated cultures or where his creator might be from, so I usually imagine he specializes in Mexican foods (with a bit of American), mainly because he’s so associated with tacos and also I like doing research on different cuisines. Obviously there’s his aforementioned tacos, but I could also see him being very good with stuff like enchiladas or machacado con huevo (eggs scrambled with shredded dry beef!), and for sweets, I could see him making stuff like hot milk cake (butter sponge cake made with scalded milk) and marquesitas (a crêpe that’s been rolled like a taco and filled with a variety of sweet things). For drinks, I could see him making café de olla (coffee made with cinnamon and unrefined whole cane sugar which is specifically prepared in an earthen clay pot- Blue seems like a coffee drinker to me, haha).
This got too long but I wanted to ramble so I hope! You don’t! Mind!!!
My brain's only processing half of this but yes, I agree! I don't really imagine Ink as someone who drinks alcohol very often, but I also imagine he has a higher tolerance for it than most people. Dream also has a higher alcohol tolerance, but through self-conditioning rather than naturally high tolerance. I headcanon Blue and Stretch as Canadian, but it's interesting to see your headcanon too!
I imagine Dream as the main baker of the group, so I can see Ink going to him like "I wanna try this!" and showing (well, more like describing) the food or drink to Dream. And you can bet your entire bank account that Dream has snatched recipes from the two, particularly dessert recipes. I don't make the rules (yes I do).

A new and improved Sylv headcanon list:
-Sylv can speak Valorian, Gallopolitan, Gondolian, Zwaardsrustian and Heliodorian, in order of fluency. He's also conversational in Hotton -Sylv cannot drink cow's milk; it gives him a bad stomachache -Sylv's favourite dish is Valorian seafood paella, and his favourite drink is sparkling wine. He also enjoys coffee and fruit liqueurs, rum (especially fruity flavours), and Hotton shōchū -Sylv enjoys his food on the spicy side. It helps with his fire-breathing; he tends to eat more of it before a performance -As well as dairy, Sylv doesn't care for bread all that much either, unless it's pa amb tomàquet -Sylv has numerous tattoos hidden under his costumes: the three Wyrm Whip dragons on his arms and back; a trellis with roses, daisies and tulips on his back; a rose on his right shoulder for completing his circus training; his family emblem over his heart -Sylv suffered heavily the first time he practiced fire-breathing, and while he was healed quickly at the time, it still bothers him. If he overdoes it (i.e. he uses it too many times in a short period of time), he ends-up with a bad burning sensation in his throat and chest -Out of all the circus tricks he knows, Sylv's favourite is juggling - to the point where he'll often juggle three or more of the same object if he's got them on hand, and without thinking. -Sylv can breathe fire for a maximum of five seconds

apologies if you've answered something like this before, tumblr's search function is awful. do you happen to know of any good resources for actual catalonian recipes? english is preferable but i can try my best with sources in catalan, i've just been getting rly frustrated trying to find recipes for the catalonian food i've grown up eating when i mostly end up finding super inaccurate versions or food that's 100% spanish
I would not recommend foreign sources at all. I've looked at some for this blog (USA or UK newspapers and recipe blogs mostly) and they're terrible, they just take a few ingredients and make up the rest (sometimes with very bad mixes we would never make) and then call it Catalan or Spanish, idk if it makes it sound more exotic to them or what. I've seen them explain wrongly even how to make a pa amb tomàquet... It takes about 10 seconds, and yet they made the recipe take half an hour! And only to make it worse.
You have many recipes on the website gastroteca.cat (the whole website is also available in English).
The website of the tourism board of cities or regions usually have a section dedicated to food from there, and often they have recipes. Some examples:
Recipes on catalunya.com: here.
Recipes on comunitatvalenciana.com: here.
Recipes on visitandorra.com: here.
And other cities and comarques have their own, too.
There have also been many books about Catalan recipes that have been translated to English too. Avoid books that are about "Spanish cuisine" and fit in some Catalan recipes there, because then they're most likely made by someone who is not from here and will use the "turistified" versions of recipes. I think any book by an author from here and/or printed by a publishing house from here should be good.
If you understand Catalan, there’s many websites, magazines, and TV cooking shows that you can easily find online with a google search, for example Gastronòmicament or La Gourmeteria. We’ve also posted some recipes in this blog, which you can find in the tag #receptes.

Catalan Tomato Bread (Pa Amb Tomàquet)
Total Time: 10 mins Prep Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 5 mins
Ingredients:
thin slices of good bread    unpeeled whole garlic cloves, halved    ripe fresh tomatoes, halved    extra-virgin olive oil    sea salt (flaky sea salt is good)
Directions:
Toast the bread slices — either in a toaster, or by baking them in the oven at 400°F — until crispy and golden.  (Toasting/baking time will totally depend on the type and thickness of your bread.)    Take a clove of garlic and rub it cut-side-down all over the top of a slice of bread.    Take a tomato half and rub it cut-side-down all over the top of the bread.    Drizzle the bread evenly with a hint of olive oil.  Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.    Repeat with the remaining slices of bread.  Then serve immediately while they’re nice and warm!

Rate catelunian foods?
full disclaimer that for all the shit i talk about catalunya, i've actually only lived in adjacent areas (valencia + illes balears)
PLATS TÍPICS DE CATALUNYA (X)
Escalivada - This one is similar to pisto/ratatouille. When done well, it is an excellent mix of delicious mediterranean vegetables in a tomato-y base. When done poorly.... it has a lot of things that I hate undercooked, like eggplant. 8/10.
Escudella i carn d’olla - This article says this is the first known soup in Europe, so hats off to that, I guess? Basically a vegetable based soup with one giant meatball. Like a lot of food from the area, it's pretty basic.... so really fucking good if you get fresh ingredients that you cook right, and boring if you don't. 6/10.
Canelones - I actually had no idea this was a catalan dish, but it's on the list and I'm not going to argue. Tubes of pasta filled with cheese and sometimes meat, usually in a bechamel sauce. Very similar to Italian American favorite manicotti, which was one of my favorite things growing up. As a result, I associate canelones with the taste of my childhood. 10/10.
Cap i Pota - More "stuff in tomato-y sauce," this time featuring the ""left overs"" of meat (eg, pig nose and intestines), possibly alongside some carbs/veggies like garbanzo beans. I've never had this but I'm going to judge it anyway. We should just be eating more "weird" cuts of meat. 7/10.
Esqueixada - Salted cod with tomatoes, onion, and olives. Did you know I didn't start liking olives until I moved out fo the Mediterranean? Absolutely horrible planning on my part. I've never had this dish either but it sounds like it'd be good as long as you didn't fuck up your cod and your tomatoes weren't bullshit. 6/10.
Calçots - CALÇOTS. These guys are a type of green onion that gets grilled. They're advertised all over the place in Catalunya, and I actually have an inside joke about them with my old Spanish roommate, but I've never had one. I want one so much. 10/10.
Suquet de Peix - A sea food stew. No offense to Catalunya and adjacent areas, but your sea food sucks. Langostinos.... awful. Mussels.... iffy. I do like fish in general, though. 5/10.
Mongetes con botifarra - White beans with sausage. I like white beans, although I've never had them serves as their own dish and I'm suspicious it wouldn't be deeply boring. I do quite like botifarra though... probably more of my higher recommended "you should try this" catalan foods. 9/10
Pa amb tomàquet - "Bread with tomatoes." Folks, this is so fucking good. Toasted bread with the guts of a really good tomato spread over it, along with olive oil y sal.... divine. I made fun of some other foods for being "basic" but this one is SO FUCKING GOOD. 11/10.
