i’m writing a lab report draft rn and thinking about that #overlyhonestmethods tag that was happening a while back. “this species was selected for testing because the stockroom had it on hand already and we only have 4 weeks to run this experiment. heart rate measurements were taken at 5, 12 and 19 days after exposure because we didn’t want to come in outside of our usual lab block.”

The samples were exposed to vapor for a week because I forgot to remove them from the chamber.
Also, a glove box was used to keep samples dry because the schlenk line pump broke.

Day 18/100: Turning off your timer just in the nick of time! Perfect timing! Nothing makes you feel as coordinated in lab as getting to your timer right before it goes off. No #overlyhonestmethods this time. ;) This animation was inspired by @emachlin, who always seemed to juggle her various incubations and reactions effortlessly. Beep beep beep! #100daychallenge #100daysofdrawing #achievementunlocked #illustrator #flash #animation #sciencefail #sciencewins#lablife #timer #perfecttiming

This is a lot of rambling brought to you by my current lack of sobriety.
But I kind of think methods sections should totally be actually like #overlyhonestmethods. I think it would improve the replicability of studies. also we’d all feel better about ourselves. And also it would be easier to convey that the reason science is so slow and weird is that its just super hard to do. So hard guys.

Out of everything ever posted to #overlyhonestmethods, including some of my own posts, nothing speaks to me on a spiritual level more so than this one.
