After Robin's death, Roland is adopted by Regina. Years later, Roland travels with Regina to the Magical Forest where they are both reunited with Henry. At ten years old, Roland is the youngest member of the Resistance. (Don't worry, he's kept far away from any fighting) When little Robin arrives in the Magical Forest, she's not so little. After cursing Cecelia's heart and forcing the woman to run, Rapunzel thought everything would be as it once was. Alas, that was not to be. Marcus went after Cecelia, leaving Rapunzel alone with their daughters. And with his step-daughter who was now the Baroness Avellano. Marcus did return a year later, but he was not the same. He was completely heartbroken and no matter how hard Rapunzel tried she could not heal his heart. Then, just when things were looking up for the couple, tragedy struck.
Anastasia drowned in a frozen lake. While Marcus threw himself into his tailoring work, Rapunzel emerged herself in magical knowledge. She was the only one who knew that Anastasia still had a single breathe of life. Rapunzel was going to stop at nothing to resurrect her daughter. Rapunzel taught herself potioncrafting and concocted a persuasion potion. It would cloud the victim's mind and make them susceptible to suggestion.
The King of the realm held a three day festival. The remaining Tremaine family attended. It was the best opportunity for Rapunzel to enact her plan. You see, Rapunzel blamed Marcus and Ella for Anastasia's demise and she wanted revenge. Rapunzel used the potion on the Prince and convinced him to kill Marcus. A murder which was witnessed by Ella. Rather then used the potion to persuade the King to strip Ella of her title. Rapunzel was then granted the title Baroness and became known as Lady Tremaine. She allied herself with the King which provided her with wealth and power. Lady Tremaine took over the manor and forced Ella into involuntary servitude.
