The NBC Radio Studio at Sunset and Vine was an art deco shrine.
It opened in 1938, but only existed for 27 years.
It was knocked down replaced with a midcentury bank designed by Millard Sheets.

Note
You know, I’m honestly contemplating going to my cities con this year as the cleaning lady from on the ropes, that’s pretty much my job for real and I think it’d be a lot of fun :) Especially if one of my friends were able to cosplay as an attendant or our gator himself
Anon, this is genuinely one of the most flattering things I've ever been told :''')
You've inspired me to finally design an actual outfit for her, kind of based off my uniform from my ex-job [minus the marigolds]
Please send photos if you manage to go! <3

RHEA RIPLEY X FEM!READER
In collaboration with @0bsessioncntr
WORD COUNT: 5,354
SUMMARY: WORKING AT A SMALL BAR IN CALIFORNIA TO PROVIDE FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR SON, YOU MEET AN UNLIKELY STRANGER ON A LATE FRIDAY NIGHT. WHO KNEW THAT A DRUKEN HOOK-UP IN THE BAR BATHROOM COULD TURN INTO SOMETHING MORE.
TW: N/A
- - - - - - - - -
It took a few moments for Rhea to comprehend the words that had just left your lips; you had to go? It’s not like she’d expected you to come home with her, but she didn’t expect you’d be leaving her so soon either.
Swallowing back her disappointment as a platonic simper claimed her lips, Rhea bobbed her head gently in a nod.
“Right. Of course.”
She uttered, her nimble fingers moving to gently trace across the apple of your cheek. She’d gone into this situationship knowing it was all for fun; an incredible one night stand, but she didn’t expect to have such a strange feeling in her gut. Maybe she didn’t need to leave this bar and never see you again, maybe this didn’t have to be the end.
You shot her a nervous smile before hopping off the counter. You could feel her eyes on you as you gathered your things from the bathroom floor, your panties still torn and strewn on the sink as you pulled your jeans up over your ass, looking around for your shirt for a moment before remembering you had thrown it onto the bar counter as part of your tease.
“I really hope there’s a few cabs running this late.”
You said, almost under your breath and mostly to yourself. You found yourself with a bad feeling in your stomach; something about her made you feel like you didn’t want this to be over, but as always you knew better. Even if you wanted to spend more time with her, who’s to say she even wanted to spend more time with you? And if she did, when would you ever have time between work and your child? You felt like if you entertained this any further it would end up with somebody’s feelings hurt. You tried to shake the feeling off as you looked up at Rhea, your hand on the bathroom door.
“I’ll be right back.”
You walked through the door, doing a quick run over to the bar to grab your top and sliding your arms in the sleeves, lazily lacing up the front just enough so you wouldn’t flash the cabbie on the way home. You took a deep breath before peaking your head back through the bathroom door.
“You want some water?”
“Why don’t you let me drive you home.”
Rhea stood directly in front of you as the door swung open, her gaze pointing down as she fumbled with the button of her jeans. She’d gathered her things, put on her t-shirt and followed almost immediately after you as you’d left the bathroom, not wanting to let you out of her sight. If you rejected her question, these would be the last few moments you’d have together and she didn’t want to waste a second.
Her gaze finally rose to meet your still slightly flustered cheeks, a coy smirk crossing over her lips as she pulled her zipper up. Your lips parted slightly; but her actions were faster. A singular finger darting out to press against your lips before her flat palm cradled round the curvature of your jaw.
“Let me drive you home.”
You wanted immediately to say yes. What you wanted was for her to stay the night and do that again, but all of that went out the window as your responsibilities flooded your mind and you remembered you live the life you do for a reason. You wanted to let her drive you home, but you also didn’t want her getting the wrong idea. This couldn’t happen again, the feelings you had towards her were too confusing and you didn’t even know her name.
“I don’t know. Y’know they tell us girls not to take rides from strangers.”
You said with a chuckle, knowing strangers was a loosely used word after the last few hours you’d spent together, but it was the truth; you didn’t know her name, age, what she did for a living. Most of the words exchanged within the night had been at your expense, not that you minded. You did figure, however, that if you were to spend any time in the future fantasizing about this night and this woman, it would be nice to know her name.
“Strangers huh?”
Tussling her dark strands a little as she takes a sneak peek at your badly tied shirt, Rhea’s lips twitching at the corner as she tilted her head back up to meet your gaze.
“I don’t do that with strangers.”
A throaty chuckle vibrated in Rhea’s chest as she slid between your slender form and the door frame, her head dipping forward as she swept the hair away from your ear and whispered softly against the lobe.
“Only the good girls get that kind of treatment.”
She didn’t wait for a response before she slid back into the bar, crossing the room towards the bar and hopping up to sit upon the wood. Her sapphire hues fixed on your perfect silhouette as she tossed the hair out of her eyes.
“Let me drive you home.”
“You don’t do that with strangers! You don’t even know my name, Mami”
You teased, wanting to draw the information out of her. Your face admittedly grew red with the words whispered in your ear, keeping your back to her to regain yourself before turning around to face her, a smirk claiming your face as you made your way over to the bar. Your frame came to be placed between her knees, looking up at her with a still devilish grin.
Your fingers dancing on the bare skin of her knee that peeked through the tears in her jeans, your gaze casted down for a moment as you tried to decipher her tattoos from the bits and pieces you could see.
Rhea watched you closely as your dainty fingers twirled and followed the lines of her tattoo, her teeth sliding over her pearly whites as she fought back a warm smile. Fuck, was she starting to fall for you already?
Scooping her fingers under your chin slowly, she craned your head back upwards so she could find your glistening gaze, her angelic features searching your face for any signs of regret.
“You think I’d let you get away without finding out your name?”
A blush once again crossed your face as Rhea’s gaze met yours, your bottom lip getting caught in your teeth for a moment before you spoke.
“Well you never asked for it!”
You said with a giggle, drawing out the tease for a moment before you once again realized you really had to get home. You wanted to get the information, but you knew you would have to watch the time closely.
“What’s your name anyway, or am I just expected to stick with Mami.”
Glancing up at the clock behind the bar and back down towards you, Rhea’s brow hitched slightly. You’d been in such a rush to leave and yet all of a sudden you were flirting again.
Hopping down off the bar, she slid over towards the exit and began to fiddle with the deadbolt. Sliding it into the unlock position before glancing back over her shoulder to flash you a soft smile.
“How about I tell you in the car?”
You let out a scoff as you rolled your eyes, grabbing your bag quickly from behind the bar before hurrying over to the door.
“You’re lucky.”
You said as you looked up at her, shooting her a wink as you slipped past her and allowed her to close the door. You took out your keys and locked it, turning to look at the parking lot, which was completely empty except for a large black truck.
“That must be you.”
You said as you turned around, almost tripping as you came face to chest with Rhea, who had been following just behind you. She hadn’t faltered even a little bit when you had run into her, instead putting a hand on either of your shoulders to steady you. You had to crane your neck to look up at her, your face bright red as you wiped a few strands of hair from your face.
“Sorry.”
Tracing her thumbs over the top of your shoulders as a small chuckle parted her lips, Rhea moved a palm to grasp your chin and hold it firm.
“Still a little weak in the knees, princess?”
Tracing her thumb over your bottom lips, she shot you a wink and slipped past you without another word. Of course her vehicle was the only car left in the parking lot, she’d been busy and perfection took time.
Pausing at the back of the truck to spin round on sneaker clad feet, Rhea scoffed to herself as you stood in the exact same spot she’d left you.
“Unless you’ve found a way to turn back time, weren’t you going to be late for something?”
It took you a moment to snap out of the trance this woman seemed to put you in over and over, but once you realized you had been frozen in place while she had already made her way over to the truck, you jogged your way over to the far side of the parking lot. As you reached her you slowed down, standing in front of her admittedly a little out of breath. You tried to play it cool, shooting her a smile for a moment before looking away to try and hide the red on your cheeks.
“I live on fourth street. It’s not too far from here. About ten minutes. I uh, really appreciate you giving me a ride.”
Rhea stifled a laugh as she played off not noticing your labored breaths and flushed cheeks as she slipped down the passenger side of the truck and pulled out her keys from the back pocket of her jeans. A loud beep echoing the parking lot as she unlocked the vehicle, pulling at the door handle and stepping back as it swung open.
“This time you get to be in charge, you direct and I’ll follow.”
A smirk claimed your face as you made your way over to Rhea, hopping up into the truck and allowing her to close the door. In the few moments you had to yourself while Rhea was walking around the car, it took everything in your not to kick your feet like a teenage girl. As Rhea opened the door and climbed in, you shifted to face her, crossing your legs and looking her over once more, letting her close the door before you asked your question.
“So do I get to know your name now, before I tell you where I live?”
You joked, biting nervously on one of your nails as you stared into her stunning blue eyes that captured you from the second you saw her.
There was something about your gaze that had Rhea flustered, the spiraling colors so captivating that she could easily get lost in them if she looked into them for too long. Chuckling softly as she leant round to grasp the seatbelt before locking it in, she played with her back tooth for a second as she contemplated what to do.
She could give you a fake name, you’d never see each other again after these last few moments anyway, but something deep in her subconscious said otherwise.
Leaning forward, she brushed a few strands of hair from your face and offered you the most content smile.
“Demi.”
She uttered, sitting back into her seat and moving her fingers to toy with the steering wheel ahead of her.
“My name’s Demi.”
A smile crossed your face. She seemed almost nervous, it was cute. She had just fucked the shit out of you in the bathroom and she was nervous to tell you her name. You put a hand on her arm before you spoke.
“I’m Y/N.”
You ran your hand down her arm as you looked at the clock and saw the time, remembering once again you had to get home, regardless of how much you wanted to spend more time with her.
“When you go out of the parking lot you gotta take a left and just follow that street down for a few blocks. I’m not very far.”
You felt bad, like you were rushing her when she didn’t seem to want to let you go. You had never had this hard of a time saying goodbye before.
It was clear to Rhea that whatever you needed to get home for was important as she started the ignition, her palm darting out to turn down the volume on the radio before addressing you. She didn’t want to be selfish; not matter how much it stung that she had to say goodbye, but she knew all too well about being in a time crunch.
“Yes boss.”
She chortled, flicking the car into reverse and pulling out of the parking spot before shooting you a cheeky smile. Only a few blocks, that meant she was going to get less time with you than she’d thought.
A smile still crossed your face as Rhea drove out of the parking lot, your hand reaching over to sit on her shoulder as she drove, trying your best not to just stare at her in awe. Nobody had made you feel this way before, and it had only been a few hours.
As you directed Rhea to your house through that maze of the neighborhood, your spirits began to dim as you realized the closer you got to home the closer the time came to say goodbye.
As you pulled up to the house you checked the time again, deciding to give yourself a final few minutes with her before having to go your separate ways, possibly never seeing eachother again. You turned to Rhea as she put the car in park, your eyes scanning over her face for any sign of disappointment. God knows that’s how you were feeling. You still hadn’t been able to pin down if she just saw you as a one night stand.
“Well, this is me.”
Rhea hadn’t really taken her eyes off the road the entire drive, except the few times she’d glance over to catch you looking at her. It was if her subconscious timed it that way.
Her gaze finally moving to peek out the window, she sighed softly. That was it. Her time with you was over and just like that you’d be walking out of her life.
“This one?”
Rhea arched her brow playfully, glancing a little further down the street before returning her sapphire gaze towards you. Maybe one last moment of trying to make you smile, so she could remember what it looked like to keep it in her subconscious.
“Sure it’s not a little further down?”
A smile emerged on your lips, a small laugh escaping as your eyes met Rhea’s. You didn’t want to get out of the truck, you wanted to go home with her and lay in her arms, but you knew that it wasn’t possible. This would most likely be the last time you would see each other, and you wanted to cherish it, but you were already so late.
“I’m sure. I really have to go. It's been amazing meeting you, Demi.”
You said as you leaned over, pressing a kiss to her cheek before hurrying out of the truck. It was past three a.m and all you could hope and pray for was that the babysitter wouldn’t be too pissed. You fumbled with your keys on the way up to the door, finally finding the right one as you slid the key into the lock, turning the knob and disappearing through the door. The only thing on your mind being the woman you had spent the night with.
- -
Rhea simply watched as you walked away, her subconscious trying it’s best to remember every little detail about you as it could. Just so she could remember what you looked like and how you made her feel. She hated that you were leaving, but she enjoyed the view watching you walk away. Chewing at her lower lip as she replayed the look on your face as she’d brought you to a climax of pleasure, she exhaled a disgruntled sigh as the front door closed behind you.
Sitting for a few moments in silence as she stared down at her palms, Rhea pressed her lips into a straight line. She wanted to kiss you goodbye, to turn her face as you’d kissed her cheeks and get in one last moment of weakness. She wasn’t the kind of girl that went about having one night stands, she didn’t go about picking up a girl at the bar and making her scream the way she did with you. But the moment she’d laid eyes on you, something in her chest had you already making her weak in the knees.
Parting her lips to moisten them with her tongue, she rolled them between her teeth and stretched her palms out to grasp the steering wheel. She couldn’t sit in front of your house forever, people would start to get suspicious and she didn’t want any more stress added to your plate.
It wasn’t too long a drive to Rhea’s house, she’d be home within the hour but she was dreading being alone in the car for so long. Flicking her gaze over to the clock in the dashboard, she flicked her tongue against her teeth as she contemplated the time. Dominik was known for never sleeping and she could really use someone to talk too, but was three fifteen too late to call?
Expressing another shallow sigh, Rhea pulled away from your house without looking back. If she didn’t leave now she wouldn’t be able to leave. But there had to be a reason you’d left so quickly and she didn’t want to begin thinking about what it could be.
Turning on the satellite navigation, she settled back into her seat and turned her attention toward the road.
“Call Dom Dom.”
Rhea called out, flitting her gaze across to the screen on her dash as it pulled up Dominik’s phone number and began to dial. It was late and the roads were basically empty, but she needed to remain focused.
The phone rang for a few moments, Rhea’s brow furrowing slightly as the tone continued to dial. Maybe he is sleeping; she thought to herself, that attitude changing as the sound of Dominik’s voice flooded the car.
“Rhea? You okay?”
Dominik’s voice was laced with concern, she didn’t usually call him at three in the morning and he immediately thought something was wrong.
“Hey. No, I'm fine. I couldn’t sleep. But while I have you, I’m going to go to the gym tomorrow morning, do you wanna come?”
Rhea could hear the concern continue in Dominik’s tone as he spoke again. What was he so worried about?
“You called me at three a.m to see if I wanted to go to the gym in the morning? Wait— are you driving, why are you driving?”
Rhea chortled softly as she flicked on the indicator to turn the corner, her gaze following the road as it straightened back out.
“What’s with the third degree? Yes, would you like to go to the gym tomorrow morning and I told you, I couldn’t sleep so I went for a drive. Any more questions you have for me?”
She wasn’t quite ready to tell Dominik about you; as much as she wanted to, but she didn’t even know if she’d ever see you again and didn’t want to jinx herself.
Dominik laughed, the sound vibrating through the car amidst the silence. Rhea wanted to tell him everything, he was one of her closest friends and she knew he’d be thrilled for her but she didn’t want to put the thought of someone being happy for her when there was nothing for them to be excited for in her head.
“Yeah we can go to the gym tomorrow, I’ll be at your place for nine.”
It was certain Rhea needed a distraction from you. She knew nothing about you and yet she couldn’t get you out of her mind.
A few moments passed before anyone spoke again, the sound of Dominik’s voice pulling Rhea from her thoughts and back to her reality.
“You're really quiet tonight, Mami. You sure you’re okay?”
Clearing her throat quietly, Rhea’s gaze followed the road as she followed a turn. Her brow slightly furrowed as she answered Dominik’s question. What was it about you that had her like this? Unable to focus on anything but you.
“I’m fine Dom, really. It’s just been a bit of a wild night. Look I’m almost home, I’m gonna let you go but I’ll see you in the morning.”
Hanging up before he even had the time to respond, Rhea inhaled a breath to fill her lungs. She just had to put you at the back of her mind.
The remainder of her drive was completely silent; not even turning on the radio for background noise as she drove down the length of her street. She had things to do in the morning now and she needed to have her focus on nothing but sleep. She had to forget about you. There was a reason you’d left so suddenly and she was certain that’s what would keep you apart. As much as the idea that tonight was just a passing moment and could become nothing more than that stung at her chest but she had to face facts.
- -
You felt like your heart would beat out of your chest as you stepped in the house, closing the door behind you and putting your back to it for a second, calming yourself and trying to gather your thoughts as you walked into your living room to relieve the babysitter.
After she had left you quietly made your way down the hall, stopping in front of your child’s room to check on him. As you silently opened the door, you saw Eddie asleep in his bed, WWE summer slam highlights playing on his television. You couldn’t take your eyes off him for a few minutes. He meant everything to you, and everything you did was for him; including letting the woman you met go without another word. He was a good kid, always had been. It was hard enough being a single mother, but this kid, he made it worth it a thousand times over. A smile crossed your face as you entered the room, kissing the 5 year old’s forehead before leaving the room, quietly closing the door behind you. Those few minutes were the only break you got from the memories of earlier tonight. The memories of her.
You made your way down the hall to your room, opening the door and beginning to dig through your dresser for something to wear to bed. You pulled out a pair of gray champion sweatpants, along with a Deftones shirt a few sizes too big. You threw the clothing over your arm, making your way to the bathroom.
A bath. That would get your mind off things. You placed the clothing on the sink as you turned on the bath faucet, the water running down into the tub as you turned your back, standing in front of the mirror. You took a deep breath before pulling your shirt off, looking back to the mirror to be greeted by the sight of hickeys covering your neck and chest, remnants of the time you had spent with Rhea. You studied the marks on your body, chills running down your spine as your body remembered in its own way the sensations Rhea had given you. You simply studied your body for a moment before taking a deep breath in, filling your lungs before exhaling. You stepped out of your jeans, realizing you left your panties behind in the bathroom. You smiled to yourself at that thought, turning off the water spout as your bath was full.
As you submerged your body in the water your mind settled down, the anxiety of leaving Rhea behind turning into pleasant nostalgia of the night you shared only a few hours before. As you closed your eyes and laid your head on the edge of the tub, images of your time with her played through your head. You couldn’t seem to shake her off as you had with every one night stand before. You found yourself subconsciously hoping she’d turn up at the bar again, but you highly doubted that reality. Plus, who’s to say she even wanted to see you again? Both of you had gone into this knowing what you were in for, and now you’re falling for someone who’s basically a stranger?
The hilarity of it set in as a smile crossed your face. This woman really had your heart, and she would go through the rest of her days with no clue. You knew you’d never forget her, that was for sure.
You contemplated the time for a few moments and debated if it was worth sliding beneath the water to have it sooth your chest and throat as Rhea’s marks continued to burn. But was the extra fifteen minutes away from your bed worth it? Tilting your head back as far as you could, your palms cupped around the water and slowly dripped it over your skin. Each droplet melting against the fire of your bruises.
This bath was exactly what you needed, the warm water relaxing the muscles in your legs. Rhea had given them quite the workout and god knows they would ache tomorrow.
Taking a few minutes to let your lids fall close, you inhaled a long breath. You really couldn’t shake this woman, every waking second you were remembering the details of her face. How were you supposed to sleep?
As the time ticked by and the night grew darker, you reluctantly pulled yourself from beneath the warmth of the water, popping the plug and crossing back over to the sink as your glistening gaze wandered your naked form. Rhea had done a number on you, a perfect necklace of bruises surrounding your throat.
Trancing your fingertips gently over the aggravated skin, you exhaled a long breath. How were you supposed to explain such a mess to your son in the morning? He was a curious little tike and he would definitely have a few questions for you.
That's tomorrow's problem; you thought to yourself as you grasped the oversized t-shirt off the sink and threw it on, swiftly followed by the old pair of sweats you practically lived in while at home.
Finally letting your hair down as you entered your room, you shook your head in an attempt to let the loose curls fall, but at this point the hairspray was still doing it’s job. You ran your hands gently through the long black strands, practically throwing yourself on your bed as your eyes locked onto the ceiling. Once again you ran the night through your head, it was like a song stuck in your subconscious. Taking a deep breath, you grabbed your tv remote, flipping through channels and finally settling on one of your comfort shows. This wouldn’t get your mind off her, you knew that much, but it would help to ease the pain of never seeing her again.
As the screen flashed between scenes you found your mind wandering into different scenarios. Different fantasies. Each and every one of them involving Rhea.
You were supposed to be trying to sleep, you’d be awake again in about four hours when your son awoke needing his breakfast and if you didn’t get to sleep soon, then there would be no point in sleeping at all. You didn’t want to put the burden of your exhaustion on your son, he shouldn’t have to suffer because you’d spent most of the night with a stranger that he would probably never meet.
You sighed, pulling your blanket over your body as you tried to get comfortable. As you closed your eyes you could almost feel her hands on your body again, feel the heat of her breath on your skin. Your legs couldn’t seem to keep still as your mind raced, your body begging for sleep but your mind wanting to focus on her and nothing more.
It still baffled you how one woman could have such a hold over you when you’d known her for less time than the regular douche bags that visited the bar, you had spent only a few hours together and yet her power and dominance had flipped a switch in your brain you couldn’t seem to turn off. The strength when she held you still, the authority in her voice when she spoke down to you, all of it. Like a fire that continued to rage through your body even though you’d parted ways.
Exhaling a deep breath, you pulled the blanket over your head and plunged yourself into darkness. The sounds of the television muffled by the soft fluff that now cloaked your features. You needed to shake her, you couldn’t keep putting yourself through this. As much as you wanted to keep thinking about Rhea, she needed to become a memory. Someone you could daydream about but never have feelings for. It wasn’t smart. She was a stranger and the likelihood is she would stay that way.
Pulling the blanket back down in frustration to expose your torso to the air, the cool breeze from your open window causing pimples to emerge on your bare arms as you stared blankly up at the ceiling. You couldn’t live in this fantasy world, you had a son, you had responsibilities and it was time to come back down to earth and face reality.
- -
“You’re awake early, darling. Is everything okay?”
Rhea couldn’t bring herself to tell her mother she hadn’t slept. Sure she’d tried, more times than she could count but her thoughts of you were making it impossible. She’d spent the last few hours tossing and turning with no success, what had you done to her?
“Mhmm.”
Was as she responded as she combed her fingers through black tendrils, pacing back and forth in her kitchen as she waited for the kettle to boil. She’d given up on sleep for the night; shifting her focus to the day ahead, she was expecting Dominik in a few hours for their training session at the gym and truthfully was looking forward to the distraction.
“Demi Bennett, don’t lie to your mother.”
A soft chuckle parted Rhea’s lips as she shook her head gently. Her mum always knew when something was off; she called it mother’s intuition, but Rhea just called it being nosey.
“I’m fine, mum. I just had a busy day yesterday. Lots of stuff to think about, ya know.”
Changing her cell to speaker and placing it down on the countertop, she crossed the kitchen to retrieve a mug from the dishwasher and pour herself a large coffee. Hopefully the caffeine would be enough to keep her focused, she knew Dominik would ask questions about last night she didn’t have answers too and in her tired state who knew what she’d accidentally blurt out if she couldn’t keep track of her thoughts.
It wasn’t often Rhea was awake or even home when her mother called, her schedule had been all over the place lately and she was lucky if she came home to an empty voicemail inbox.
Sipping at the coffee as she pottered around her room collecting her gym clothes and listening to her mother as she rang off a story about one of her cousins, Rhea mulled over what her upcoming schedule was like. The WWE wasn’t set to tour for another few months, which left her with a little free time. Maybe, just maybe, she would be able to see you again.
