So for people who have active online partners who do this often or on the regular and you don’t really practice aftercare for online sessions definitely start practicing them.

Some examples that I found might be really helpful are

✨Words of affirmation telling them what a good boy or good girl or pets, or whatever that the scene that you just had was amazing and they did such a great job etc.

✨Having a set up of snacks or water or something that you know your play partner is going to enjoy once the scene is done and direct them to do it in a way as if you were there doing it for them

✨ having a mutual conversation with them afterwards you know it’s either discussing how much you enjoyed the session or just discussing their everyday lives and just getting personal with them humanizing yourself with them so just say

✨ give them a cleanup task for their own good. For example, take a shower with warm water really lather yourself up and reminisce of what a great job you did and tuck yourself into bed

Fellow Nintendo players out there, Nintendo Network has officially discontinued for every Nintendo 3DS and Wii U game that supported it.

Wonderful Things That May or May Not Be Wonderful!!! Humanity is watched over by a race of invisible angels known as the Celestrians. They protect and help the populous for the purpose of collecting their gratitude in the form of crystals. This is all so one day they will all ascend back to the realm of the almighty. And when that fated day comes, tragedy strikes breaking the ritual and casting one rookie Celestrian down to the planet below. One who must stop a long dormant darkness and help prove that humanity, despite its many faults, is still worthy of grace.  As one review from my youth stated "Too much free time? Tired of having a life? Play Dragon Quest IX!" For a JRPG, It's got all the turn based combat, conversation text,  and overworld questing you could possibly want and more. So many side quests, so many unlockable classes, so much to do and explore that its crazy it fits all on one DS cartridge. On top of that, this is the only RPG I've played where you to create your own party of ragtag adventurers instead of having a pre-set group of defined characters. Your own Akira Toriyama styled posse of party members with the roles and backstories you prescribe to them. Yes please! Plus, once you complete the main story, there is a massive post-game with randomly generated super dungeons to conquer, treasure maps to decipher, and ultra hard quests to discover and on top of that, you can wirelessly team up with other players locally or over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (if it still existed RIP) so you don't have to go in alone. DQ9 is a time sink if there ever was one and if you have said time and a DS, it is a sink worth filling. Definitely worthy of  wonderful-ness.

So... is Super Mario Wonder unironically the "Dark Souls" of Mario games? And by that I mean indirect online interactions, leaving help for other players, competition by way of the racing blocks with people you get randomly paired with...

Actually, probably more accurate to say it's the "Death Stranding" of Mario games in regards to online play, as it's kinda designed to enforce only co-operation outside of designated, opt-in course races. Anyway, yeah, some people are complaining about no online co-op but honestly I like what they are doing here much more than that.

The Odyssey and Rumors of My Ego Death (Greatly Exaggerated)

Let me apologize to begin with. Let me apologize for what I'm about to say...

Welcome to 2024, or as I'm regarding it: the year I fight back. I'm back from a meditative retreat out of the country, and I feel ready to go! I have my usual goals of losing 50-100 lbs and moving away from my parents again (this time without a forwarding address), but mostly, I want to make major strides towards living my passions.

In short, I have been "gone" for the past 7-8 years, living in fear and ashamed to be myself, and I am feeling ready to stand in my vulnerability and to live unapologetically as myself, a learning and evolving human. I want to live fearlessly, and that means confronting the kinds of things I've been advised to sweep under the rug and take to the grave.

Also, this sounds like a good time in my life to get some spiritual gains out of my introspection, with some micro dosing.

(Whoops! That's too much!)

Anyway, onto parental matters - and file this one in the "things I would never say to my offspring" collection - my dad has said that he will only help keep my family off the streets if I turn into someone he likes. In other words, someone who doesn't point out the things I don't like, such as being lied to and having him send illegal pills to my house or such as showing unabashed, complete favoritism towards my brother's kids over my own. Sorry I can't get down with that, so I guess I'm just not worthy then, and neither are my kids for that matter. I understand that parents and kids don't have to be the best of friends, especially in adulthood, but for that to be the literal condition of receiving love? That is something I would never do to my own, even if I personally didn't like them, their significant other, their own kids, whatever...

So comment below, especially if you are grown and with kids of your own, what is something extra messed up that your parent said to you that stuck with you? I'm sure there's plenty!

Lately, I got back into some of the 3D Mario games, especially playing Odyssey over again (this time in Assist Mode because my kid already started a save a long time ago but never progressed from there). Even now, that game plays so fluidly and is such a joy! I even started messing around with the photo mode, which was something I ignored the first time playing through years ago. Throw some likes my way, since I am an attention ho, and I'll see if I can figure out the technology for posting some of these pics on here. You'd think I was 70, but I assure you I'm aware how late I am to the party on these things. Still, it's something I've found that has brought me a bit of joy and distraction, and so I wouldn't mind sharing it.

I have also been racing around on Mario Kart quite a bit, so send me a friend request and let's race! If you beat me, it's because I took psychedelics! 👌🏁🏎️😁

Moved to some online play, rolled a mushroom, and managed to zoom past everyone for 1st place! I don't think I held on to it very long but it felt good while it lasted!

Some sad news regarding the Wii U/3Ds

So Nintendo just tweeted that online functionality for the 3Ds and Wii U will be scheduled to go offline on April 2024 which is sad news.

Pokémon bank will not be effected but Gamefreak does advise that you do transfer Pokémon to HOME since the service could go offline in the future.

But don’t panic, just like WiiMifi. There are services working to aid in preservation of these features such as Pretendo which while not fully complete as of this post, but will eventually be a full fledging working replacement.
