honestly audio on shit these days is so garbage (and has been going that way for years) that i can't even follow along with video DUBBED IN MY NATIVE LANGUAGE if there aren't subtitles or closed captions available
like
i cannot be turning the volume up so loud that if somebody screams it damages my hearing or every bit of action in a fight scene shakes the walls just to be able to pick out the normal conversational volume level spoken words from the music and background audio
it takes so much brainpower to try and pick out what's being said and process the words that i can't focus on the action or follow the plot along because it's eating up all my mental resources just trying to figure out what's being spoken.

#for the record this is about like actual professional releases and shit where they SHOULD be able to afford#better quality handling of the audio or are being streamed on an official service that should be able to afford captions#i don't expect that from videos of like 'i found this cool bug on my walk let me ramble about how neat it is' from some rando online#i get that providing good quality audio mixing is a skill and same thing with adding good quality and well-timed subs and captions#but like if you're a professional and this is professionally produced content there's no excuse for this shit#(obviously it's all cost-cutting because cheaper is better and fuck anybody who gets screwed but i hate it)

I love personaliy testing from like.. a cultural perspective? like the fact that humans make this stuff up at all. and how they use#it and conceptualize it and apply it to their lives. the different frameworks within which the same traits can be categorized in different w#ays. one person looks at X trait and says its bc theyre a virgo. another explains the same exact trait by saying it's bc theyre an infj. etc#I mean some of them I do find actually personally fun to get into themselves (enneagram mostly) but mostly I just like the.. analysis#tfw you're such an analytical person you like to spend time analyzing analysis. Thinking abt the ways people think about thinking abt things#Actually Ive talked before about how I don't relate to/care about/get emotionally attached to media/dont exhibit Fan Behviors or join fandom#s or etc. BUT that is actually the one vaguely media related thing I WILL do. after watching something I like going to places like that#'personality database' site which is the public voting on character's personality types. and I do enjoy going to read the comments. not bec#ause I care about the character themselves. but I love seeing the paragraph long debates about like.. why Whoever is actually an intp NOT an#intj . or like 'OBVIOUSLY theyre 3w4 so/sp ILI are you FUCKING BLIND??!'. essays breaking down every cognitive function they ehibit and why
