#for the record what i said was that it's not Sam's. it's primarily dean's until they bring it back in s11 and op of toxic masc w/ freckles#was a s1-3 purist type to my understanding from notes at the time#in the first 3 seasons there are two eps that explore faith for both of them (1.12&2.13) one ep that touches on sam's faith (roadkill) and#on that touches only on dean's (3.04). and you could defs argue that 1.12 was much more dean centric re: faith and religion than sam#so equal (barely). and then s4 rolls in and dean spends that whole season dealing with being heaven's chosen and debating faith and#obedience with angels lol<3#and obviously i think that at least partially the reason sam's faith doesn't get touched on as much in s4-5 (apart from 4.07 4.21 5.17) is#a fault in the writing but like.#yeah they introduced death and heaven as an opportunity to explore metaphysical & philosophical ideas. but the MAIN point of heaven/#religion arcs/episodes in gamblekripke was encouraging doubt and questioning religious norms and leaders#that was the POINT. doubt it the MAIN POINT spn is interested in exploring. which is why i deem religion dean's theme🤷♀️#to be honest regarding sam's faith the thing that i find most interesting is how he was cut off from mary's faith and legacy and i really#do wish someone had picked up that thread but eh
