The spread of civilisation may be likened to a fire; first, a feeble spark, next a flickering flame, then a mighty blaze, ever increasing in speed and power.
- Nikola Tesla
Le feu qui te brûlera, c'est celui auquel tu te chauffes.

Chapter 14 of Olympic Flame is now out! Thank you so much for reading this story. I’d like to come back and do an epilogue at some point but I’m happy with where it stands right now.
I do have another story in my mind so please let me know if it sounds interesting. It’s called The Breaking Point. Tobin and Christen have been rival surfers on the WSL ever since Tobin dropped in on Christen during her first pro heat. Now it’s year 7 and they both have two world titles and are hungry for a third.

The Asahi Beer Hall, or Super Dry Hall, is a building in Sumida City Ward, Tokyo, adjacent to the headquarters of Asahi Breweries. Located near the famous Tokyo Skytree, It’s home to a three-story restaurant serving beer straight from the factory.
Designed by French designer Philippe Starck, the Beer Hall was completed in 1989. Its shape is supposed to resemble a beer glass, while the headquarters building is shaped like a beer-filled mug complete with suds.
The Beer Hall is topped by the Asahi Flame, also known as the Flamme d’Or. The monument of a golden fire is said to represent the burning heart of Asahi beer and was inspired by the Olympic flame.
Unfortunately, that’s not how it looks to most people. Locals and tourists alike are often confused by the monument’s ambiguous shape. It’s now commonly referred to as the “Golden Turd.” The building has earned its own nickname as well, “the Poo Building.”

Olympic torch lighting ceremony in the ancient temple of Hera, Olympia.
"The idea for the Olympic flame is derived from ancient Greek ceremonies where a sacred fire was kept burning throughout the celebration of the ancient Olympics on the altar of the sanctuary of Hestia."

Vestal Virgin holding the sacred flame to start the Olympic Games.
(I was too far along when I realised the Vestal clothing may not be 100% accurate. But it’s hard to find frescos depicting this)
