Oh, that’s an interesting thought 🤔 Usually when you hear about characters who “adopt” Yuu or assume the role of their unofficial guardian figure in Twisted Wonderland, it’s the NRC staff that get the label. (Most often I see Crowley and/or Crewel, though I personally don't see either that way!) When the students’ parents are mentioned in fandom, it’s typically in the context of “getting their approval” to date their son or “meeting the parents of their S/O” for the first time (although in my case, it’s also to joke about how Lilia would date your mom—).
Seeing as most people in Twisted Wonderland aren't capable of magic, I don't think it would be a point to bond over. Characters like Jack's brother and Ace's dad are described as living happily without magic (though Ace's dad does do magic tricks and teach them to his sons), so that lack of magic doesn't appear to be a defining trait for the majority. Sebek's dad is somewhat of an outlier, as he lives in an area that is predominantly fae and heavily reliant on magic for everyday tasks. He's impressed by his children's magical abilities, but he doesn't seem to be bothered by his own lack of magic.
I do think that meeting magicless family members would be a good experience on Yuu's end though; at the risk of sounding like Rollo, it would be a reprieve from living in the constant chaos of 16-18 year olds who constantly misuse their magic to do stupid things like pick fights with one another. I imagine the parents and siblings would be happy to know their son/brother has friends at school, while Yuu can have the chance to interact with people that are closer to their own idea of being "normal" (magicless) + significantly younger/older than the high schoolers they typically hang out with. It'd be good for broadening their own horizons!

I’m trying to think of a sibling for a person who is an older sibling(character would be the younger and Yuu/reader the older) who had to grow up fast for their younger sibling, but then it hits the older that… their younger sibling doesn’t need them anymore. They dedicated their whole life to taking care of their sibling, they forgot to take care of themself. They rejected offers of hanging out to take care of their sibling. They dropped out of school to have more time to raise and take care of them and work a job that they were too young to do to help clothe and feed their sibling. Maybe the character doesn’t even realize just how much their sibling put aside for them. The older sibling’s whole life was to take care of their younger brother. And now he doesn’t need them. What are they if not their brother’s caretaker/support/guardian? Who are they? They don’t know.
I was thinking maybe Ruggie could be the younger sibling? Cause maybe there’s a bit of irony in that. Ruggie growing up in the slums and being taken care of by his older sibling who has foregone their own life to take care of him. Maybe he doesn’t realize just how much they’ve sacrificed because they hid it from him because they didn’t want him to worry.

my first thought was ruggie, too :O
like maybe they were left alone with their lil brother ruggie for a while. they had to survive all on their own while caring for a little infant. and then their grandmother takes them in. but they still don't let themselves take a break because, in their eyes, it shouldn't be their grandmother's responsibility to take care of them.
they leave ruggie behind every day because they have so much to do to keep him safe. they take up so many jobs and tasks, even ones that are... not so safe for themselves.
and ruggie, growing up, slowly begins to forget everything that older!bucchi has done for him. it's not his fault. he was just a little baby. but, even if that's the case, older!bucchi can't help but feel somewhat upset that their whole life, ruggie, is now leaving them behind.

Backstory: Yuui/Amity came from, a normalish family. But, she never likes to talk about her parents just much more on her older siblings which is Yuu and Yuuto. Yuui/Amity have some odd interest on science, given she was glued to tv whenever a child program shows demonstration of child safety like ideas of small science experiments until she got a keen admiration over the ideas of being a scientist when she is much older. Now, Amity does have some kind appreciation towards her family liking her style and interest/hobbies. She does feel slightly indifferent at school when some bullies taunt and tease her for her talent, but her family assures her she has nothing to be upset about as she has talent over them.
How she got into Neverland instead of Twisted Wonderland like her older siblings: okay this will be a good explanation. As much she hears her older brother and sibling have gone missing, she is very stubborn to find her siblings on her own. As she missed them dearly as they were the rock that kept her confidence up. She always was prepared with safety security when she is outside way longer, her search was long and returned home. Unbeknownst to her, someone was waiting for her at her house to take her to a whole new world. By the time she returned home, she saw a golden carriage. But she isn’t the type to get on by immediate thought. She carefully inspected it, noting how there’s only the carriage and no horses or driver on board. She did find it weird, but something about it. Made her child self on the inside of her heart, make her get drawn in. She felt someone was calling for her, and by the time she climbed in. She was swiftly taken away, and that’s when she saw the carriage was off the ground. By sheer thought and vast quickness of the carriage speed. She blacked out, and woken up at Hollow’s Tree Academia at Neverland. Where the adventures begin at a beautiful world of adventures.

I love Lilith Crewel and also in love is Divus. I'm wondering how she would react to the AU where Yuu's older sister/cousin also joined her in twisted wonderland and started dating Divus. Love your headcanons!

First things first: Lilith is going to have so much fun. Divus has dated before, they haven't really lasted more than a couple years. No big incidents, just things not working out. But this one is different because Yuu is involved.
Crewel in this au, doesn't really go full on adoption like in the other Papa Crewel variants, because they have their older sister to take care of them. The need for a better guardian isn't really there. But, Crewel does still become close to them. He knows the situation with the siblings and feels for them. He looks out for Yuu and does become a father/older brother figure to them. Sis in this au, is given a job by Crowley in the school. So now they are colleagues and Divus and her hit it off. He invites her out to get drinks with him and Sam, his treat of course, so she can interact with just adults for a change. This eventually goes on to one on one outings that become full on dates until they're dating.
Lilith over the course of all these months, knows what's up. It's been established when something big happens at NRC, she hears about it. So hearing about the siblings in the once abandoned dorm is not news to her when Divus talks about it over the phone one day. What does surprise her is when he talks so warmly about them, how fond he is of Yuu and how close to their sister he's gotten. Lilith asks right off the back if they're involved, and at this point they aren't, so he tells her as much. But Lilith has a gut feeling when something is up. So when winter break rolls around and Divus invited the siblings t stay at his family home, Lilith is ready. She's got presents, the guest rooms set up, a list of all the places in town to show them. Lilith in all aus is ready to coddle Yuu, so she goes full grandma mode and is feeding them, making them feel welcome, showing them a jacket she got them. Everything. And in this sense of comfort she's created Yuu has opened up to the woman.
"Oh yeah, Crewel and my sister are great friends. The go out all the time."
"Go out in what way, love?"
"Just to bars and clubs, you know normal stuff. Though I do remember this one time he took her out to a suuuper nice restaurant. She got all dressed up and didn't come home until super late."
"Really now?"
"Yeah, I'm like 90% sure they're dating and just haven't told me."
And Yuu would be right. Lilith likes having the info, unless Sis is some god awful person, Lilith doesn't feel the need to vet if she's "good enough" for her son. He's a grown man, he can figure that out himself. But Lilith does like to toy with Divus and Sis. Just a little bit.
Lilith: Goodness, I didn't sleep a wink last night.
Crewel: Oh? Work keep you up again.
Lilith: Oh no it was all that noise I coudl have sworn was coming from down the hall.
Sis: What noise?
Lilith: I was the strangest thing. I could have sworn I heard footsteps in the middle of the night. Then next thing I know I hear this incessant creaking for ages. Like someone took one of those old beds and was shaking them. *squints at Divus* Dearest, what's that mark on your neck? It wasn't there yesterday.

The magical powers of characters based off constellations and zodiac signs (update)
Tetsuya: Orion (The Hunter)
He's an adult in his early 40s and has really great sense of smell, and is a monk from of the valley. He's also the father of Setsuko and Rei, he has 2 older son and a daughter.
Akasuki: Cygnus (The Sawn)
She's an adult in her early 40s, an adoptive mother for two siblings. She is a priestess, protector of certain areas outside her home village.
Tetsuya and akasuki were against the council of the valley to begin with, so after their banishment (for siding with Genji) they did their own thing.
Genji: Urusa Major (Great Bear)
He had the ability to wield an object no matter what it was made out of. Supposedly he was the next village chief but shortly disappearing after his banishment leaving his own family behind.
Kyoko /Grandmother: (Cassiopeia-the queen)
She's continues to carry out her duties as a village leader. She's very cold, has the power of command and demands. And has the power to make others work for her well. She became relentless and utterly overprotective of her grandchildren after her son's disappearance and their mothers banishment from the valley.
Chikana: Apus (Bird of Paradise)
She's a shaman of her own village, that of course contains the power of medical but spiritual healing and has strong believes of union, kind of a sorcery advisor but in the best way possible.
She has two sons, who are gonna be side characters to our story.

Okay so from the Crescent Valley we have Yuu, Naoki (they are chikana's children)
Yuu: Telescopium (the Observer/ keen of sight)
He is his right mother's arm, and is also an expert in medical and spiritual magic, and arts of healing. And his is soon to be the future alliance with the other valley.
Potion magic is also one of them
Naoki: Lupsu (Wolfman)
He can use mist magic and illusions and he later becomes an important part of the story as Rei and Masahiro trainer and coach of magic, and helping them master it. And he might become a member his own village council. And he falls in love with someone he spent his youth with. She also will be an important non magic user in the story.
We have next from characters from the valley who hates outsiders so basically were going back a bit into the grandmother's village.
So now we're introducing some of Tetsuya's kids and some of close friends/allies of the family leading village. So some kids of Tetsuya decided to live in the village independently. Due to them having power to assist and secretly work undercover against the village laws and the magic concil.
Eiri: Pyxis (The compass)
The girl who can control times, (basically guardian of time) who pretends to work for the grandmother but she mostly sides with Team Reiko. She is now a full-fledged guardians in her mid-twenties. She used to be a part of the magic concil until after Reiko's return.
Nagisa: Scutum (The Shield)
After her father's banishment she was also left under the custody of one of the village leader's men. She lives in small cabin nearby the village chief house. And of course she has shield magic. However she doesn't fight for she rathers play the housekeeper part, but she's also a great big sister and she's the mother of the group. Sometimes she stands up to Reiko and her brother Rei Infront of the big bad grandma.
She also uses adjuration magic.
Sora: Caelum (The Chisel)
He's got his passion for alchemy and engineering, but that's just his side hobbies, he's the apprentice and only one of unmei. A space magic user, that teleports to other dimensions.
Tsubasa: Vulpecula (Little Fox)
As cynical as he may seem, he's actually a pretty nice guy, with the power of strategy he also does have necromancy magic.
He's also son of Tetsuya the older brother to Setsuko and Rei. And akari's crush.
Take two, now for our main characters. And final supporting characters check.
Akari: Aquarius (the water bearer)
Adopted by Akasuki and a pro at being a knife thrower and mad sword crafting skills, unlike her mom she's not all about duties material, her dad is a swords man. But Akari does meditate and can purify negative energy with a throw of a knife. These are holy and sacred knifes so.
Ken: the Phoenix
He's is a athletic, and physically strong, he's also adopted to Akasuki along with his sister. Akari, he obviously looks up to her. He actually has a real phoenix pet but only turns like that when really necessary.
He's very hot head and cocky when it comes to his powers of Ash magic and yet somehow his phoenix is the source of it all, the boomerang however is fireproof so he merges together with the Phoenixe energy.
Setsuko: Libra (the Scale)
Being the responsible and most sensible out of everyone on the team. She is the balance restorer. She's a tessen proficiency. As laid-back as she seems, she has an overbearing personality but she also comes from a good place.
Rai: Capricorn ( the sea goat)
Despite his young age he's also in shape, he's a flirt and total player who almost never takes things seriously. He likes to bring personal matters to light most times.
But aside that he uses Transmutation magic, and can easily use translate difficult enchantment. So instead he transmutes them to something he knows he can read. He later becomes best friends with Reiko through and through.
Takashi: Sagittarius (The Archer)
He's the son of Yuu.. and he has a curse called the black crystal. He cannot control his aggression, when he becomes part elf and a source of destruction. At times his body can absorb energy from others. Who seem insignificant to him.
Despite his misunderstood heart, he has nothing but good intentions. Obviously he's an archer. And the fiancee of Reiko.
Cho: Scorpius (Butterfly Cluster)
Reiko's rival to Takashi feelings, obviously they grew up together in the same valley but he later moves away.
Cho is a butterfly magic wielder, she loves insects and mostly flowers, however is was once forbiddened to mess with dark magic art, tho her intentions are mostly good, she does cause damage every now and then.
Kaya: Lyra (The Harp)
She's Yuma's best friend and also a wielder of mirror magic, that can grant you any wish your heart desires, despite her living near water streams, she's not a Syrian. But she also have a loud echoing scream that can keep negative energy away from her.she also have a little brother.
Yuma: Grus (The Crane)
He got rock levitation power, also gravity he can easily get angry while hurting his loved ones. He's often a crybaby and a wimp at times but when he grows you'll know. Also a force field magic wielder.
He's at his best when he's with Kaya, and he always defies order from Reiko and his grandma, and sometimes tries looking for trouble.
Masahiro: Canis Minor (Smallest Dog)
He's got the power of multiplication and illusions but he's too young that's why he goes into training. And he never listens to Reiko he is just twice the trouble for her and even more mischief. But he's kind and almost polite at times.

i think these idiots are mutually touch starved but taabou has an additional hunger that he’ll just never get over. unstoppable force (how much taabou wants him and isn’t afraid to say so in no uncertain terms) meets immoveable object (how much kuwana thinks he doesn’t deserve it, but how is he supposed to tell him no). i also think he would never pressure kuwana into something more normal but wouldnt be scared to bring it up either?? that he thinks about it sometimes???? and if kuwana tells him to shut up/stop then he’ll be quiet, because he knows innately when it is kuwana’s teasing and when he’s being serious

he was used to being one of the tallest people in the room at times, so he’d definitely be happy to have someone similar to him
i mean, the two of you could easily wear each other’s clothes (he’d been dying to find out how cute you’d look in his clothes), yuu could kiss you whenever without having to lean down, the possibilities were endless!
if you were taller than him, however, he’d absolutely take advantage of the fact even if the height difference wasn’t that large
he’d hug you from behind and play all sorts of tricks on you
he’d totally attempt to make you kabedon him by placing himself in such situations just to see how it felt. yuu thought that he’d love the feeling of being pinned against the wall by you
(when you finally gave in to his demands, yuu wasn’t expecting himself to get so flustered, but it also excited him at the same time. he absolutely loved the feeling. from then on, his attempts only grew tenfold)
and when you had to bend over a bit to kiss him !!!
gahh, it just made his romance dreams come true
when the two of you were walking, he loved to hold hands and lean on you for comfort
he also loved taking naps on your shoulder or chest whenever the two of you cuddled
is this what it felt like to fall asleep on someone you love?? he absolutely adored the warmth of it
though he would admit that he found it a bit silly, yuu couldn’t help but feel protected with you around
he was always responsible for taking care of the apartment and his younger sister since his parents were busy with work, so often times, yuu had to be the “bigger person” since he was the older sibling
it did get difficult at times, especially when it felt like no one really appreciated his efforts
but with you around, yuu felt like he could finally take a break, as if he finally didn’t have to be the bigger person all the time
yes, yuu thought it was silly and couldn’t help but feel embarrassed at the thought, but it was true
i mean, whenever he cuddled with you, yuu felt as if, for once, he was the smaller person since you were so tall
it was almost like a guardian angel of sorts

ryo would definitely feel a bit insecure at first considering that he isn’t that tall himself
(the fact that you seemed to tower over him at times didn’t help)
whenever someone brought up the large gap between both of your heights, ryo would get annoyed and may even lash out at times
he himself was trying to ignore it since it made him feel so small, in both a physical and metaphorical sense
he wanted to be seen as someone who was capable of taking care of himself and his s/o, but at times he felt like nothing more than a child
over time, however, ryo would begin to accept the height difference through your reassurance
you never once teased him about his height or even brought it up, and you always treated him like an adult capable of doing anything
the fact that you were so accepting of him made ryo begin to love himself more
(he thought that if you, a person he looked up to and admired, loved him despite all his flaws, then he should be able to love himself as well)
one of the things that ryo loved about having a tall s/o is that it felt as if he had his own personal guardian whenever the two of you walked side-by-side
you made him feel safe and assured that no one was going to mess with him
plus, he couldn’t help but feel proud that he had someone like you as his s/o
i feel like that he’d also love to be coddled by you when the two of you were alone, such as being the little spoon when cuddling or forehead kisses and head pats, although he’d never admit it
you were just so tall and warm and filled with love that ryo couldn’t help but relax in your touch, especially when he’s had such a rough day, to the point where he often found himself napping in your arms
much like yuu, i think he’d love it when you had to bend a bit just to kiss him, though he’ll try to treat it as something that he wasn’t particularly fond of
“u-uhm, what was that for?” he’d ask, holding a hand up to his lips where you’d just kissed him, though he did very much enjoy it. his red face must’ve looked so cute to you since you were smiling. “could you maybe do it again?”
sometimes, ryo would get frustrated with the fact that he was so short and that you were always the one making him flustered, so he’d stand on his toes and kiss you outta the blue
sure, it was a bit embarrassing for him since he never saw himself as the type to take initiative, but the flustered and bewildered look on your face was more than worth it

Since it popped up on the Podcast, how would you rank the sibling dynamics from healthy to trainwreck?
This is an innocent-sounding question until you go over the franchise and realize just how many sibling relationships there are in Digimon and that all but like three of them have elements that might raise eyebrows. In the interest of being comprehensive, this includes all named characters in any anime, manga, and game I’m familiar with, treating the reboot separately and including Survive because... (looks at Kaito and Miu’s bios) ...holy crap.
Sibling Relationship Rankings! (Healthy is Higher)
Joe & Shin Kido (Adventure): Shin understands Joe’s hang-ups and offers support to make his own choices without steering him in any specific direction, for or against the family. And Shuu exists too (depending on the language you’re watching in)
Juri & Masahiko Kato (Tamers): For all of the awkwardness and potential points of fracture in the family, Juri and Masahiko are very close. Fun Fact: She started carrying around her iconic hand puppet to amuse and entertain him!
Keito & Nozomi Tamada (Re:Arise): Even with very different personalities, Keito and Nozomi have a lot of respect for each other. Unlike some big brothers, he comes to a mature conclusion when he realizes she’ll be just fine with Pumpmon at her side.
Yamato Ishida & Takeru Takaishi (Adventure 2020): Yamato’s worry over Takeru only affects his reluctance to take on time-consuming side quests when he might be in danger. Far more chill about trusting Takeru with the rest of the team, he’s a motivation rather than a mental handicap.
Masaru & Chika Daimon (Savers): Perhaps a more controversial pick for the healthier side, but Masaru and Chika have a playful relationship that proves that Chika dishes out as much as anyone in the family. Given how much harm DATS and Digimon have done to the family, Masaru risks her love to keep them away from her.
Joe & Shin Kido (Adventure 2020): Shin’s still supportive and still encourages Joe to make choices for himself, but having that bugout bag ready to go raises some serious questions about that family and which side Shin’s really on.
Ai & Makoto (Tamers): Toddlers fight. It’s okay. They come together for Impmon’s sake and the fact that they’re the only duo in the franchise with mutual custody over a digivice has to say something about the strength of their relationship.
Nene & Kotone Amano (Xros Wars Manga): Nene’s tactics are still desperate but not quite as extreme as the anime, and it counts for so much that Kotone fights so hard for Nene once the tables are turned. And good lord that backstory...
Takuya & Shinya Kanbara (Frontier): There’s definitely a sense of Takuya lapsing into thinking Shinya encapsulates everything frustrating about having an older brother, but he gets over it.
Miyako Inoue + Three (Zero Two): Perfectly normal large household. And while wondering what it would be like to be an only child is something every youngest does... top of mind fantasy, Miyako? Really?
Jianliang & Shaochung Lee (Tamers): Speaking of four-packs... there’s no doubting how much they care about each other, but Jian’s occasional short fuse with Shaochung betrays his usual calm demeanor, and we never get a picture of the full family dynamic once Rinchei and Jaarin are included.
Daisuke & Jun Motomiya (Zero Two): Everyone likes to paint Jun and Daisuke as something uglier than it really is. As much as they annoy each other, it’s still a pretty conventional sibling dynamic and they’d still fight hard for the other... even if the feeling’s closer to obligation.
Koji Minamoto & Koichi Kimura (Frontier): There’s no questioning the bond they develop, but there’s no way Koji and Koichi go from “don’t know the other exists” to “ZOMG Twinzies!” without a ton of awkwardness and feeling each other out. They’ll get better, but from our standpoint this is where we start to drift into trainwreck territory.
Tomoki & Yutaka Himi (Frontier): Tomoki can spin it all he wants but Yutaka comes off as a real jerk. Not that some resentment isn’t a little justified given how much Tomoki is coddled, but taking it upon himself to be the bearer of tough love is still not cool.
Taichi & Hikari Yagami (Adventure 2020): Hikari has a blind faith that Taichi can save the day in any circumstance, up to and including international shipping crisis. Meanwhile Taichi sees Hikari lapsing between typical friendly eight year old to brainwashed robot and doesn’t find any problem with it.
Yamato Ishida & Takeru Takaishi (Adventure): Lessons in how not to be an overprotective big brother. Yamato freaks out at the slightest notion that Takeru might be exposed to danger, including his very presence in the Digital World. When you have a complete nervous breakdown realizing that little bro’s actually pretty capable on his own, it’s not about your relationship with him anymore.
Touma & Relena Norstein (Savers): There’s caring about a little sister, making her plight a central cause in your life, and then involving her in a chess match with a madman. There’s a lot to forgive here (they are raised in a family where your kneejerk reaction to Grandma is “I bet she supported the Nazis in World War II”), but everything about their relationship just makes you uncomfortable.
Kaito & Miu Shinonome (Survive): Maybe it’s not fair since their game is the franchise’s unicorn, but their bios have warning flags all over it. He’s overprotective, ready to fight at the slightest hardship, and she repays this attitude by being rebellious and weird and eager to pursue trouble. May end up being worse once the game actually comes out.
Rei & Hajime Katsura (Appmon): Another one where their backstory makes you sympathize with the lengths they go to in order to stay together, but risking the security of actual guardians to go it alone? Jesus. Even with their ride or die attitude, you still sense a bit of friction in their relationship, and so many of their hardships are their own doing.
Nene & Yuu Amano (Xros Wars): There’s nothing seemingly wrong on the surface between Nene and Yuu, but that’s why their actions are so extreme. Yuu’s more than happy to treat her as an enemy general in his game, while Nene’s aligning herself with dark forces and causing real trouble to get him back. It’s all very loud and intense for a relationship that, without external influences, is just nice and cordial.
Yuuko & Yuugo Kamishiro (Cyber Sleuth): You can be anything you want on the internet! So why not take the identify of your big brother who was stricken with a mystery illness at a young age and lead a legion of hackers? And if you’re Yuugo, use your digital body to take control of that avatar! Nothing weird about any of this!
Ken & Osamu Ichijouji (Zero Two): Like Tomoki, Ken can come up with whatever rationale for Osamu’s abuse he wants, and Osamu at least had some kind moments, but there’s no denying that this family was a mess. And of course Ken’s reaction to Osamu’s death... could have been better.
Taichi & Hikari Yagami (Adventure): Hikari’s introduction to the series was intended to be a little creepy, and that just sets the tone. Her blind loyalty to Taichi is a primary point of emphasis through three series, and Taichi sometimes goes ballistic worrying about her... when not accidentally endangering her life. And that’s before she unleashes a world-destroying abomination at the mere suggestion that Taichi’s dead, and why telling him “what you’re doing is wrong and I kind of hate you for it” is a big moment for her, even though she’s wrong.
Neo & Rei Saiba (V-Tamer): There’s going a little overboard to keep your family together or save a sibling’s life, and then there’s aligning yourself with evil forces to avoid having to deal with your sister’s manageable disability. Call it being jaded or delusional, but when it drives your sister to attempt suicide there are definitely issues you two need to work through.
Erika & Ryuji Mishima (Cyber Sleuth Hackers Memory): Because aligning oneself with Arkadimon is always a fantastic idea. He’s overprotective, she manipulates him because of it, there’s resentment, there’s anger, and basically the entire game is spent watching these two outdo each other in terms of causing wanton destruction throughout the city and cyberspace.
Honorable Mention: Bagramon & DarkKnightmon (Xros Wars): The battle of who can stab the other in the back last.
