About moderating and banning content on AO3!

Okay so! I haven’t had the spoons to do this for a while but I cracked and ranted about it on twitter which is... not... conducive to long rants, so!

This is a h u g e discussion part of the l o n g history that led to the creation of AO3, which older, more informed, and more articulate people have talked about at length and can be found around if you look (I reblog some of it in my AO3 and fandom history tags for the curious). So I won’t go into that here, nor into the practical reasons why it’s not even possible to put that system in place anyway.

Arbitrarily, or the purpose of this post, because it’s the biggest topic I’ve seen brought up lately, I’ll be talking about fic depicting underage characters in se*ual situations, but honestly I could hold the exact same conversation on literally any controversial content.

This is about why you, specifically, if you are a content creator and especially if you are marginalised and especially if you are queer and especially especially if you are sensitive to fiction depicting certain things... do not, actually, want a banning system on AO3.

What? Of course we do. There’s a lot of p*do shit on AO3 and p*do shit is gross. No one should condone that, wtf? It would be easy to do — just periodically delete the entire Underage tag!

What will happen if that is done is that people will re-upload and continue to write it, they’ll just stop tagging and you will run into it with zero warning nor ability to filter it out. Again, this is not a theoretical — we know this is what happens. When I was a teen, adult content (all adult content) was not allowed on FF.NET; it was everywhere regardless, and without tags. The exact same thing happened on tumblr when adult content was banned as well. It’s not a matter of “staff not handling it well” — it just doesn’t work.

To keep safe the people who need to be able to exclude that tag, that tag needs to exist and be used.

Well, shucks. A reporting system then?

A reporting system would operate in one of two ways:

-an algorithm, which would delete a lot of stuff we wouldn’t want it to delete.

-humans, which is... the bigger problem.

An algorithm sounds great. We do want it to delete everything.

Okay. What about the daddy k*nk fics between consenting adult characters? What about the fics featuring characters that are children in the canon but are adults in the fic? What about the fics about teenagers exploring their se*uality together, written by adults about the experiences they remember having or wish they could have had? What about the thousands of SasuNaru and Drarry and other shounen and YA fics that will get written, by teens or by people who remember being teens? What about the se*ually explicit fic written by teens who are se*ually active in real life? What about the fics about CSA as trauma, about healing from it? What about the fics written by survivors of CSA to cope about their trauma? What about the fics that clearly show that it’s evil and traumatic? What about the super dark, harrowing, but beautiful and artistic that I’m glad I read even though it fucked me up for days? What about the ones that were really shitty but also horribly hot?

Well, some of these are still not okay, but maybe some might be. It depends on how it’s written. We’ll have humans moderating content and deciding, then.

Okay.

The thing is, I don’t know which of the things I just listed were okay for you to be depicted in fiction and which were too much. Odds are I don’t agree with you. Odds are if I asked 10 people randomly picked off the street, not everyone would agree.

Odds are, even if AO3 arbitrarily decided on which of those are allowed and which are not, you would not agree with their choice, and you would still be unhappy with the decision. (Or you would be happy, but your friends wouldn’t.)

Odds are, different AO3 content moderators might not agree on whether a given fic qualifies or not — is it artistic enough? Does it show enough that these actions are evil and wrong? Can the author prove they’re a teenager? Can the author prove they are a CSA victim? Can the author prove that this is to help them cope with their trauma? The author seem to be functioning alright, they mustn’t really be traumatised!

You know what I mean! There’s absolute, objectively gross shit out there that is not artistic and should not be published.

I agree that there’s vile stuff out there that makes me sick and that I think is very clearly just ped*philic trash. But there is no way to, 1) stop those from getting published anyway, 2) take those down and preserve the safety of everything else.

If we start forbidding some things, there’s two ways to go about it.

One single, clear, arbitrary rule — for instance, absolutely no adult content featuring characters under 18 (leaving aside the fact that this would not even work for the reason cited above). So we lose all the stuff from teenagers, all the coming of age stories about adolescence, all the stuff from CSA survivors; people who need to write it can’t publish it anymore, and people who need to read it can’t anymore either (and as a cool bonus, they’re told it’s wrong and made to feel bad about it). Depending on whether the rules applies to characters that are under 18 in the canon, we lose entire fandoms.

Or, subjective moderation by humans, according to what they estimate to be gross.

Let’s assume all moderators can agree on what’s gross or not.

If there is a system in place to ban some underage works because “gross shit”, then that means other gross stuff can be taken down on account of being gross and harmful.

Yeah! Gross stuff should be taken down! Come on, surely everyone agrees on what’s gross and harmful.

Ah.

But the problem is.

Here is a list of things I have seen — with my eyes seen — called harmful to be depicted in fiction:

Murder

Non-con

Inc*st

Cannibalism

Torture

Self-harm

Mental illness

Drugs

Racism

K*nk

Non-negotiated k*nk, but healthy k*nk is ok

Spanking k*nk

BDSM where the woman is a bottom, but woman top is ok

Healthy depictions of BDSM

Unhealthy depictions of BDSM

Queer people doing bad things

Abusive relationships

Rival/Enemies to lovers

Redemption stories

A happy relationship between a 17 yo and an 18 yo

A happy relationship between a 20 yo and a 60 yo

A happy relationship between a boss and their employee, or a college teacher and a student

A happy relationship between a 14 yo boy and an older teenage boy, because that’s reminiscent of older men preying on younger gay boys IRL

Se*ual content featuring a character whose age is unclear in canon and some people headcanon them as being underage, some as being a young adult

Loving, consensual fluff between characters that are evil villains, because it romanticises them and their actions

Dark content shipping female characters

Fluffy content shipping female characters, because it’s misogynistic to act like lesbians are only soft all the time

Consensual s*x featuring a canonically asexual character, because it implies that all aces can and should still have se*

Fics about the same canonically asexual character hating s*x, because that erases the experience of s*x-positive aces

Shipping a character who is perceived by some fans as queer-coded with a character of a different s*x

The tendency to ship a black character with white characters

Fluffy drunk s*x, because that’s not actually consensual

Sleep s*x, because that’s not actually consensual

Trans characters not experiencing dysphoria, because that idealises the trans experience

Consensual s*x between adults that are not married

LGBT+ content, because kids shouldn’t see that.

I guarantee you: you, I, and 10 random people plucked from the street will not agree on what, in that list, is and isn’t okay to publish and consume fiction of.

So why should your taste be the one followed? Why should it be the taste of mods you don’t know? Why should anyone get to dictate? What if the mods think your OTP is gross and your NOTP is fine?

This is the slippery slope argument.

Yes, it is the slippery slope argument. Because we know it happens. Because we’ve been there, because I’ve seen it happen myself twice already and I’m not even thirty. Because we know people do complain loudly about all of these things.

And because the second there is a banning system in place, assholes will use the system to abuse it and get stuff they just don’t like taken down using the “it is gross” argument, and one day you’ll wake up and the beautiful fic that helped you come to terms with your abuse/trauma/identity/orientation/k*nk for feet will be taken down and wonderful vulnerable creative people will have been harassed out of fandom because they argued with 1 person who didn’t like their foot k*nk fic that happened to also feature, for instance, a CSA trauma backstory.

Again: not exaggerating. Not theoretical. It happens, we know it happens, AO3 was created literally because it happens.

I still fucking hate that stuff.

That is completely fine and normal. No one likes everything. Me too! Most of the dark stuff is niche and the creators know only few people will like it the same way they do.

(For the record, I get grossed out and triggered by fics about an asexual character who does not like s*x having s*x with their partner to make them happy. Deep in my gut everything screams that that’s fucked up, terrifying and harmful, how can people write that. But I recognise that there are people who love and need that, and I leave those people and their content alone.

OTOH, I read a lot of otherwise dark shit and I enjoy it in the same way I enjoyed, say, Hannibal, in the same way some people enjoy true crime documentaries, horror movies or r*pe fantasy k*nk. It helps me explore stuff that I like to see in fiction, in a safe, controlled way. I’m also asexual, 90% s*x-repulsed IRL, and, obviously, I would never abuse a child. For that matter, I wouldn’t kill and eat people, either, nor would I do 90% of the tamer k*nky stuff I read.

Of course, Hannibal was fucked up and lots of people probably think Hannibal was gross and should not have been aired — but as exemplified by the fact that it was created, aired and watched, lots of people thought it was fine, interesting and even fun to watch.)

You can and should curate your experience and protect yourself. The AO3 website now allows you to exclude certain tags, and people have developed tools to help with that such as plugins that save your filters or hide fics that contain certain words.

But no, it isn’t going to, and it shouldn’t, get banned.

All fans are equal but some are more equal than others. NOT.

There’s been quite a few people in the fandom lately getting very stressed, feeling they’re obligated to constantly be on the defensive re: their fandom choices.

Apparently, whoever has a different opinion about a character or a ship must be said character’s/ship’s stan i.e. overzealous and/or obsessive, i.e. not an objective viewer. Even worse, they must be a dreadful person, who condones a number of moral offences that said character/ship perpetrated (or is thought to have perpetrated). Because, of course, the only acceptable reason for appreciating/enjoying a fictional character or dynamic is their morality. And, by that reasoning, fans who support the correct character/ship must be better fans and better people.

Nothing is more ridiculous than the notion of the objective fan. An “objective” fan is called a “viewer”. You and I, Riverdale friends, we are not just viewers. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have created blogs and dedicated hours of our lives to a fictional couple from an extremely mediocre show. We are still undoubtedly capable of critical thought and objective analysis but we are also aware of our own emotional investment in the show. (Or, at least, one hopes). As a fandom, we engage in activities that exist independently of the show. Fandom is a space of free expression. No one gets to play the higher moral card here. Needing to loudly tell everybody how wrong they are? That’s not the sign of an objective viewer. That’s the sign of a viewer who is also extremely invested, just for different reasons than I am.

Are we seriously holding the morality card over people’s heads for a show that used a poc woman’s pregnancy (Toni) as the means to retroactively establish trauma for a white male (Kevin), all the while touting it in every media possible as a woke response to the BLM movement?!

Are we seriously holding the canon card over people’s heads for a show that treats its 5th(!) season as a tabula rasa?! If the Lodges new backstory in 5x12 shows anything, it’s that s5 is not a time-jump. It’s a reboot.

There are so many people “enlightening” others on their inability to understand canon …

Seriously? That’s the hill you’re willing to die on? Canon Riverdale? You think that people don’t understand what they’re watching? That they’re interpreting canon incorrectly?

No, but seriously: canon for a TV show consists of what the characters say, what the characters do and how the actors portray them. Does this really apply to Riverdale?

Let’s take Donna for example.

Canon explicitly tells us Donna did what she did to avenge her grandmother. At the same time none of her canon actions were against the people who were actually responsible. So, riddle me this, fandom friends: why did Donna do what she did, as per canon?

Let’s try this another way:

Donna is a psycho bitch. Both in terms of Riverdale’s canon (the writers’ intention) and real-life criteria. To create a tag that reads “Bonna for ever uwu!” is deranged.

On the other hand, her character is (like a lot of Riverdale’s characters) an inconsistent caricature. Canon uses ridiculous dialogue and a lot of the Bonna scenes are cartoonishly enemies-to-lovers tropey. To create a tag that reads “Bonna for ever uwu!” is hilarious.

This doesn’t mean that Bonna is a canon couple. It does mean, however, that a Bonna crackship is based on Riverdale’s campy and over-the-top canonic writing.

A viewer who thinks Bonna is disgusting is not more “objective” or more “correct” or more “true to canon” than a viewer who thinks Bonna is funny. Nor are they a better person for it, and this cannot be stressed enough.

Similarly, who is canon Cheryl?

1. Cheryl is an absolute bitch: if a privileged student was calling an actual homeless boy a hobo in your real-life school, you would neither think her a queen nor use “hobo” affectionately in your tags, comments etc.

2. Cheryl is a deeply traumatized person: her father killed her brother, her mother killed half the town and forced her in conversion therapy, she attempted suicide and more.

(Note #1: this more does not mean more than the other Riverdale characters).

(Note #2: nor is it an excuse for her rudeness, affectionately called “mood for chaos” by the writers).

3. Cheryl is also a caricature of the archetypal mean girl who’s there for laughs and meta comments. She’s not to be taken seriously.

4. Cheryl is lgbtq+ representation …

5. … who canonically shits on other lgbtq+ characters.

6. Cheryl is one half of Choni, who are canonically presented as an uber couple.

7. Choni is also, as per canon, a couple with an acute power imbalance (cough!gaslighting!cough) that visually very clearly panders to the male gaze.

But most importantly:

8. Cheryl canonically is not the sum of her parts. The different facets of her character do not intermingle in any meaningful way.

Was Betty kissing Archie specifically a sore spot for Jughead?

Canonically no [2x14]. But, also, canonically yes [5x03, 5x10].

Are there seriously fans that are astonished that Betty is making some highly questionable choices while investigating?! Did they just discover Dark™Betty/Killer Genes Betty? That is canon Betty! Was it ok before because she was then smooching Jughead instead of giving him the cold shoulder? Honestly, the only newly outrageous part of s5Dark™Betty is the fact that she still believes in “killer genes” despite having spent 4 years at Yale …

As for liking/disliking Betty and morality …

Look, I’m going to be very honest: I am NOT particularly enjoying s5 Betty. And it’s not because of b*rchie.

S5 Betty has 99 problems but the sexcapades ain’t one.

For me, it’s the fact that she’s turned into s1 Alice 2.0. But surely that’s not news either? Ever since the first info about the time jump, everyone and their mother have been speculating about the teens becoming their parents …

Just because Jughead is better written (and written to be more likable), it doesn’t make him more worthy of redemption. Just because the writers are keeping Betty’s redemption “secret” (insert eye roll) for their big reveal in the season’s penultimate episode, it doesn’t mean she won’t have one.

Simply put, the writers have made Jughead more likable. He’s still the underdog. He’s the only character in Riverdale actively trying to deal with his trauma, since the very first post-time jump episode (working at Pop’s explicitly to fend off the debt collectors). He has scenes with a new and extremely likable character (Tabitha). He has the only new plot line (the Mothman). Said plotline is narratively already tied to both his unknown past and the town’s destruction by Hiram. His behaviour is explicitly explained, even as his recent trauma remains unknown. He’s transparent.

In comparison, s5 Betty is traumatized but not the underdog. Her trauma (TBK killer) is both known to us and a repetition of previous storylines, which makes it narratively less exciting. She is completely disconnected from any other storylines. She comes out as being judgmental and self-interested: telling Tabitha Jughead’s not her business while previously accepting his help? Berating Polly for lying while not keeping in touch and lying about her own life (TBK)? Please note: I’m not saying there isn’t a reason behind her behaviour, just that it comes out in a negative way.

You don’t like Betty’s current behaviour? You don’t consider trauma a good enough excuse? Cool.

You feel sorry for what she’s going through? You consider trauma to be a valid explanation for her behaviour? Also cool.

Personally, I don’t give a flying fig, either for Betty’s trauma or Jughead’s. Because, even though Trauma™ is s5’s actual mystery plot, narratively speaking, trauma never affected the plot of the past 4 seasons, nor s5 trauma will affect future plots, once revealed. And you know what? That is also cool.

None of the above is better.

And just because I’m not enjoying Betty right now, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want her to overcome her current situation or that I won’t cheer for Bughead like a River Vixen on fizzle rocks, once they reunite.

This thing though, where people are made to feel as if they owed anyone in the fandom an explanation about why they like the things they like, because, somehow, their preferences are a reflection on their character or their cognitive abilities to read a TV show? This is a joke.

There is no “wrong” way to consume any show, let alone Riverdale, with its fractured format, its short-term memory and its see-sawing characters.

Look, everybody’s here for their own reasons. For most people this is a place of escape. No one’s escaping better than the other, because of how they enjoy their teen TV show ...

i usually tend to write for trigger heavy fandoms (such as asoiaf, kingdom and others) and may incorporate some of it into my writing, muses' backgrounds and overall characterization. if you're bothered \ squicked \ triggered by that, i kindly encourage you to reconsider and not follow me. no amount of rp fun is worth your mental health. i try to tag everything accordingly and i fully expect the same courtesy for our followers' sakes. be aware that there may be mentions of death, gore, violence, consanguinamory \ endogamy (especially when it comes to the lannisters and kekkei genkai clans), rape ( kingdom, though it will only be mentioned on the character’s backstory ) and cannibalism ( hannibal and kingdom ) , as well as unhealthy relationships and dynamics alongside with powerplay, and otherwise bad behaviours. for all that is sacred, please, do note that i, the mun, do not approve, support or condone any of these actions or behaviours !! i simply am capable of separating fiction from reality. as long as everything is properly tagged, with mutual consent and there are no minors involved (muse and especially not muns), . i support the right of a consenting adult to explore these awful dark topics in a safe fictional environment with other like minded consenting adults, people shouldn’t have to share their traumas to strangers on the internet to explain why they write what they write, be considerate. if that notion bothers you perhaps you might not want to interact with me, for both of ours sakes. fair warning, most of my graphics and aesthetics might trigger those who have xylophobia/hylophobia (phobia of trees or wooded areas), and considering it is a main theme here i will not be tagging it, i'm sorry. but its too many. however, if you want me to create a special tag for you, there's no issue! it will be either "[your mun name] don't look!" or "[your url] don't look!", whichever you prefer. Ok so bit of an unpopular opinion . I know u love Anna lightwood but don’t you think her characterisation is problematic . Just imagine a man in her place who keeps breaking the hearts of other ladies and make a note of their names and call them his ‘conquests’. It is fine to not want relationships but she treated one of them like shit . I am a lesbian myself so when I read gotsm I was so excited to read more about Anna , then I read chog and was very disappointed 😔.

A very good question.

I have seen some discussions on Tumblr regarding this. A very long reply, I hope you read all of it.

First - I actually do not find it as problematic. I didn’t find it to be concerning until I saw the discussions and went ‘oh’ because they (and you) aren’t wrong. But the reason why I don’t find Anna problematic is because I don’t find the behaviour in question problematic. I think this says more about me (and my values) than Anna’s - or even Cassie’s.

Of course, if Anna had misled these women saying she will be in a relationship with them or she loved them and then betrayed them, that is a violation of consent and can also be considered manipulation. It’s also emotional violence. But Anna does none of this. She is very clear that she doesn’t want to engage in a romantic relationship.

But having said all of this, it is no question that Anna’s behaviour is not “ideal”. I mean, keeping the names of your ‘conquests’ is definitely what I call ‘douche behaviour’ - regardless of one’s gender. Personally for me, that did not prevent me from liking her, because while it did surprise me, it didn’t put me off. I don’t condone it, but nor do I care particularly about it.

For me, it’s a part of Anna, not all of who she is. As long as Anna doesn’t intentionally cause pain (sleep with the women just to hurt them) then I’m actually fine with what she is doing. But of course, I do ship Anna x Ariadne, so hopefully things turn around. But that doesn’t mean I’m looking for a redemption arc necessarily. But I hope Anna gets a little more introspective in the future. I would actually like that.

A quick comment on the “imagine a man in her place”. I’m not exactly sure how a man in a place would be perceived here tbh. Because we usually call these men “players” or “heartbreakers”. While someone us are more disturbed by this behaviour, many of them (mostly men unfortunately) celebrate this kind of “king of conquests” archetype. But when it’s a woman, gender norms come into play. We look at it a little more intensely. This is not about Anna, but in general.

I think of the primary reasons why a lot of people, for the lack of a better word, ‘overlook’ Anna’s trait as a ‘player’ is because female characters (especially in that era and especially of that sexual orientation) are not known for owning their sexuality. We are not used to seeing women taking what they want (consequences be damned). So, most people who see Anna just see a rule breaker instead of a heart breaker. I think the former, for most people, is important than the last.

But this is why YOUR perspective is very important. Because the way I perceive Anna (with my gender and sexual orientation and experience) is very different from the way you would do it (with your identity). We both will not understand her nor like her in the exact same way. And I think that’s a good thing. How we perceive fictional characters are very much influenced by our own identities and beliefs. This is the exact reason why we often disagree on our opinions of fictional characters.

When it comes to queer characters, I think we find it very difficult to focus on their flaws. (some might not see Anna’s behaviour as wrong too). Alastair’s bullying, Anna’s lack of empathy, Alec’s anger - we can go on. Since we don’t have much queer rep, it can be annoying to see one of us represented with traits that are ‘problematic’ or ‘ugly. But in my humble opinion, we are problematic and ugly too. I like the fact that these sides are represented in these stories too. All I ask is you look beyond the ‘flaw’ and focus not the character. After all, they are more than just one part of their personality.

I'm sorry you were disappointed with Anna. Even though you understand and see her differently than I do, I get how it can be disappointing to you. However, I would never tell you how you should feel about Anna or perceive her. That is your right and yours alone. I am hopeful that in the sequels we see more dimensions to her character, not just as the ‘heartbreaker’ or ‘player’. I hope we see more of her to identify with and love her for.

I don’t think shipping people who are uncomfortable with the idea is okay. I don’t condone fanart or fiction depicting minors in sexual situations. This is a blanket statement. Pedophillia is bad and sexualizing minors is disgusting.

I’d like to also say I also don’t condone minors looking at sexually explicit content, but let’s be honest, we were all horny preteens on the internet at some point. Lets not pretend like WE never looked at porn before we were 18, yeah? Nobody with access to the internet growing up who knew what porn was, was some pure innocent child, who suddenly transformed on their 18th birthday into an adult with a brand new, and comprehensive knowledge of what pornography is and where to locate it.

I’m not endorsing shit. I’m not recommending porn to children, nor am I actively encouraging them to seek it out. I actively avoid discussion of the topic while speaking with minors online. That said, I’d be a moron to try and tell ANYONE that I didn’t think they were gonna seek it out anyway.

I really don’t see what your point is other than that. What would you like? Do you want the real people who are having sexual content created about them without their input or approval to... not?

No one needs to tell them to do it for it to happen. And a portion of them are going to seek out porn of the things they’re a fan of. ok so a few things!

1. i have a lot of new followers which i love and appreciate!! thank you all so much, it means a lot to me that anyone would be interested in my mcr fanblog haha. this is the first time i have been such an active participant in a fanbase... since maybe ever..... i’ve basically been a silent internet observer my whole life. i participated a little bit in online communities when i was a kid and i was burned a couple of times so i just stopped for a REALLY long time. i never actively participated, really, until recently with mcr returning. it is so nice to have a community around basically one of the few things in my life that i can genuinely talk about for hours. mcr is one of the longest ongoing interests of mine, i’ve been hardcore invested since i was 11, 2010. i have been around and about for a LONG time, but i’m definitely not an oldschool fan, and not a scholar. as i said i have never really been an active participant, just privately hyper focused. i was an embarrassing baby fan but i’ve grown out of that and it feels really good to re-explore my interest again as a real person with a better understanding of myself and what’s important, with other people with similar life experiences and values.

2. some basic stuff about me uhhh i dont like to put this stuff in my bio because it feels like a weird laundry list to have on display all the time and i don’t like leaving too much of a paper trail to my real identity (i am an mcr supervillian lesbian by night normal artist/intern teacher by day) but these aspects of my identity are sort of important to what i post and if i ever get out of line i feel it’s important to openly discus my mistakes without hiding behind obscurity. i’m a 21 year old white woman and a lesbian, i use she/her. i have had issues with gender non-conformity but i am cis. i am neurotypical but i have in my recent life struggled with depression, and am diagnosed with pmdd. i’m pretty fat and i like to make very light jokes about weight sometimes because it can be funny to me but i try to be sensitive about it. here and here are two posts about my policy of lesbian jokes/using she. here is my policy about following/interaction with minors.

3. follows! i appreciate them all! i was actually recently followed by a user that i have been following for years now! it was amazing (not going to name names because it feels braggy to me and i dont wanna blow up their spot lol). i only maintained following 2 mcr blogs in the great my chemical recession of 2015-2019 in my life and one of them is the person who followed me and i feel so! happy about it. if you follow me and i dont follow back here a few things to think about

- i do not follow minors just as a personal policy

- this is a side! my main shall remain a sexy little secret in order to maintain my alter ego and because i like to keep stuff a little close to the vest

-i like to sort of scope out what a person is like before i follow back so a lot of the time i keep an eye on a blog i like and see what they have to say before i hit follow (even with ppl who are not mutuals. often i will check a blog manually for a while to see what theyre about before i follow, just on my own).

-sometimes i just dont personally enjoy a blog. sorry.

also: mutuals can use my name in their reblogs/tags, i don’t have a problem with it. i just don’t give it a permanent position in my bio.

4. i am not interested in nor do i condone shipping/rpf. i have experience in that realm and it got especially dark for me, and i dont like it as a whole. i’m not going to fight with anyone about this. the end.

5. my art- i read almost all the rb tags on my art and i appreciate all of them. i love it all and it encourages me to make more!! if you like my work, reblogging and saying so directly contributes to my artistic drive. i’ve slowed down a little bit as of late because i’ve been busy with christmas. i cannot guarantee that i will always maintain posting art, but right now i’m really enjoying it and i hope you guys do too. i regularly reblog my art because it is the best way to get traction with art on tumblr. sorry if this is irritating; it helps me get feedback on my work. if you want to use my work for anything PLEASE contact me before you do and give me credit where you use it. this is almost all fanart, i will in all likelihood say yes, i just like to know where my art is being posted/used.

Its not shock to me that the same b**tlebabes will take this post i made and what i said and barley acknowledge any points i made in the post, and essentially demonize me, lie, and overexaggerate what i said this has literally happened before.

I know y'all lack any critical thinking skills or self criticism but in the post i said:

I acknowledged that its a valid coping mechanism but can be done in healthier ways, hell I even told y'all i see where you're coming from because i used to ship minor/adult ships including b**tlebabes but now i found healthier ways to outlet my supernatural romance escapism fantasies I never said or implied all supernatural escapism fantasies are bad and you cannot use them to cope as poor woman who is also a csa survivor, again i am also poor, i grew up poor, i grew up being seen as a woman before i realized i was trans and still face misplaced sexism but i don't romanticize fictional pedophilia it try to justify it, your struggles are valid but being a poor woman and a csa survivor doesn't magically absolve you of criticism.

Funny how me using being of multiple mariginilized groups as an example of why being called a nazi and general fascist just for not liking your ship is bad or as an example of my upbringing for escapism fantasies the same way y'all did is "throwing in the minority card" but when cishet white woman or the variation of talk about their experiences you expect everyone to listen. I already knew b**tlebabes were hypocrites but this is the icing on the sh*t cake but then again white women have been doing this for decades, You have no right to claim and complain about sexism and classism when other marginilized people criticize your ship, and use your experiences as women to justify it but when we give tell you our experiences as other marginilized identities you pull this b*llsh*t. Its clear you're weaponozing social justice and feminism for you mainly to justify your ship/own gain now because you actually care this is made abundantly clear when you refuse to listen, lie about, and then demonize marginalized people especially those you have privilege over.

I read the women talking about their experiences, unlike y'all with my posts, that's why i acknowledge this IN THE POST and even above in this one,but yet again in "whiny" speaking as a marginalized person.

Ah here we go i love when people with privilege claim marginilized people are "attacking" them for pointing out how they have said privilege im but no no no IM playing the victim card. If y'all are gonna pretend to care about social issues like classicism and sexisism and use these things to justify why your ship is ok the. Maybe learn what privilege is learn that you have it and learn that its important to listen to marginilized people especially ones you have privilege over, because its clear y'all are just being performative and don't actually care .

Y'all can assume what you want about me, its not shock you will deflect privilege on me by claiming im rich when i stated in my post i am poor and grew up poor. I have never seen the show, i work as a food/customer service job and make about 12 bucks an hour, pay my own bills, and food, and transportation, i almost live from paycheck to paycheck.

Next time actually listen to people a and read things especially from marginilized groups even if they don't agree with you bc that's the only time you seem to "care", don't be a liar and a hypocrite, and then dismiss people with assumptions and lies because again, they don't agree with you. Its not a good look for you, and the fact that other b**lebabes and people who side with you barley criticize what you say or do is really telling about your community and friends just sayin'.

Ok so I recently started season 9 after taking a looooong break after season 8. But I don’t think anyone who’s seen season 8 could blame me for not feeling compelled to rush back to it. But having said that, season 9 is already SO much better and...I know the show is literally a dumpster fire at this point, but...I’m kinda into it again? Like I haven’t felt this “invested” (and I use that loosely) in the show since season 5, and it’s probably not a huge coincidence that that season also introduced a sassy brunette who lived to fuck with these nerds and immediately wanted to get into Dylan’s pants. I’m just under halfway through and I’m sure anything I like about the season now will be totally destroyed by the end of it, but for now, here are my thoughts on season 9.

- Matt is a total himbo and I’m lowkey obsessed. And the fact that all the other characters treat him like the expert on everything and the smartest man in the room just because he’s a lawyer only emphasizes how big a dummy he actually is. Like maybe he’s a really bad lawyer?? He’s kinda derpy but maybe also kinda cute??!? And maybe I ship him and Dylan????!??!?

- Gina is a savage and I love her. I’m actively rooting for her to succeed at everything she sets her mind to. She’s got lots of poorly planned short cons on the go, and even though she’s not great at them, she’s just so scrappy I can’t help but want her to succeed. While I don’t condone ANYONE wanting Noah, I do condone her trying to break up him and Donna. And fortunately for everyone involved, she quickly moves on to Dylan, which shows that she has good judgment after all. That, and she refuses to take Kelly’s shit.

- I’ve always said that Brandon was the Cranky Dad of the group, but I didn’t even realize until now that Steve has slowly been evolving into a different type of dad. The “cool” dad who is a complete dork but is actually deluded enough to think he’s legitimately cool. Like the type who likes to party, but also wears one of those pager cases that clips to the waistband of your pants, into which is tucked a large polo shirt from Banana Republic, and who also holds some ickily conservative beliefs that only slip out once in a while but are enough for you to realize he is neither cool nor fun, despite the fact that he thinks he is. Yeah, that’s Steve’s vibe this season.

- Janet deserves better. But frankly, so does pretty much every woman who has ever been on this show so...points for consistency I guess.

- Dylan’s back and he’s more problematic than ever and very little of his story makes sense or is plausible, but you think I care? You think I give a shit about any of that? Dylan’s back. That’s literally ALL that matters.

I usually try to stay out of fandom bullshit but I am tired and angry and have a few things to say.

So first off I don’t think that it’s out of line for me to point out that Delpad shippers have been treated like SHIT by some parts of the Ducktales fandom. I haven’t been targeted as much because I’m not as vocal in the fandom as I used to be, but a lot of it is fucking unavoidable. In addition to the blatant dumping of hate into the tags there are entire blogs dedicated to posting nothing but ship hate, harassment campaigns directed at shippers, attempted doxing, the infiltration and destruction of a ship discord, unfounded accusations and rumors against shippers, personal information and comments intended for private conversations shared and mocked openly, people constantly coming up with new reasons the ship is problematic and calling it’s shippers misogynists and abuse apologists and homophobic het trash(which, if I might point out, a lot of the het trash comments REEK of biphobia), and I could go on. Every horrible, awful ship war tactic has been lobbed at us to the point that almost every Delpad fan has either dropped the ship or gone in to hiding, literally too afraid to create content for fear of being targeted next.

Now thankfully there has been push back in the fandom as of late, people who don’t even ship Delpad are getting sick of this behavior and calling it out when they see it. It’s not much, but it’s enough to give me some hope that things are changing. But change is slow and the people perpetrating this hate seem to have a lot of free time that they have no problem dedicating to harassing people for the crime of “shipping something they don’t like”. I am not gonna make speculations about people I don’t know, but I am starting to really wonder why these people are so insistent about starting drama and hating on people. I have seen some legit worrying posts that seem to echo a lot of stuff I saw back when Voltron was ending about people placing a lot of their mental wellbeing on ships and what is and isn’t canon and that kind of behavior does end up leading to some dark places.

I doubt any prolific Delpad antis are gonna read this but as someone who has been there, let me tell you, when you are relying on a show to carry your mental wellbeing to the point that a singe episode description is enough to send you spiraling you really need to take a step back and examine your priorities. Because that is really the only reason I can see this kind of hate being seen as reasonable. These ships and characters are so important to you that you see anyone contradicting your viewpoint as an attack and so you channel that energy into attacking them to preserve your sense of self. I will say this again, I have been there, I know what that’s like, and while in the long term attacking people who disagree with you might feel cathartic and validating it is actually just gonna fill your life with misery and ruin something that once brought you joy. As much as these people have been terrible to us I don’t want them to have the pain of looking back on something they once loved and having it make them sick because of fandom drama. Because it sucks, it really does.

With all that said however, there is something else I want to mention. While I am still trying to determine the validity of these claims since anons and screencaps are VERY easy to fake and there have been issues with people faking them in the past in this fandom, I take claims of death threats and suicide baiting VERY seriously. I have been on the receiving end of them and I would never in my life wish that upon someone else. While it does seem suspect that this is all coming to light in the wake of Delpad fans celebrating some future canon interactions as well as a lot of hate posts, I want to make it abundantly clear that nor myself or any of the Delpad fans I am friends with condone this kind of harassment. I do not care how awful someone has treated you telling them to kill themselves and go die is NEVER OK. If there is a Delpad fan out there sending these messages you need to stop. The collective Delpad community does not stand by this person. We take out our trash and if this is a Delpad fan they need to stop, apologize, and never do it again. They are not welcome within our ranks if they are acting like this. It is unacceptable.

Once again, I am not sure if these claims are true, a lot of them seem very, very suspect, but I def want to know more so we can fix things if this is happening. However, I would implore other Ducktales fans to speak out against the harassment Delpad fans have been facing. This fandom is supposed to be a happy, fun place and while no one fan can be responsible for everyone else in a group, we need to look out for our own. I hope this post proves that the Delpad community is willing to do the same. And I would also ask that the people who are harassing shippers, posting hate, attempting to destroy our tags and community spaces, and spreading rumors about us stop. It isn’t good for us, and please trust me, it isn’t good for you either. You will only end up hurting yourself in the long run, and you shouldn’t do that to yourself. Sparking harassment and searching tags for things you hate is a form of self harm, and you deserve to spend your time putting good into the world and doing things you enjoy, not obsessing over hating something and taking joy in hurting others.

Anyway this post is long enough as is. I’m hoping I could get through to someone or at least get my point across. Now let’s put this fandom drama to bed and go back to enjoying a fun show about ducks going on adventures.

ok listen. i know he is certainly not a fan favourite and i absolutely hated him the first few times i watched ua. but this time, i rewatched it specifically to try to sympathize with luther and guys there are so many things at play here

he doesn’t realize the extent to which his siblings were abused. he brushes klaus off and doesn’t think twice about locking up vanya again because he just assumes they had the same experience. he’s not being an asshole (on purpose), he just never stopped to think about the fact that being Hargreeves’ favourite made life a lot easier for him.

similar to the first note, he never stopped to consider the implications of having powers that hurt to use. he has super strength, something that, compared to some of the other powers in the family, is nothing. he just doesnt realize what seeing corpses is like, which is why he doesnt get klaus’ addiction (and to be fair, neither do the rest of his siblings). Same with Vanya. He doesn’t think about what it’s like to learn you have powers after being told you’re horribly boring and average your whole life, nor what it’s like to find out your memory was erased. he had it a lot easier than his siblings, but he doesnt think about that. that leads to some poor decisions and awful seeming actions, but keep in mind that we know a lot more than he does about his siblings. we’ve seen their pain but he hasnt. no one in this damn family communicates, so he just doesnt get it. i wish hed stop to think about how other people feel every once in a while, but itd also help if they just straight up said “hey being high keeps the gory corpses out of my field of view, im not a fan of this either” to help him understand. he wasnt taught empathy, but he tries for the most part. honestly, the fact that he turned out that nice considering what he grew up with? kind of incredible

hes not just obsessed with the moon. and to be fair, he has a right to it? i mean i havent stopped talking about this show for 2 months and ive had other things happening in my life. he was alone up there for 4 years. that doesnt give you much conversation material. and also, bringing up the idea that the apocalypse could be caused by the moon makes sense because, yeah, he was sent up there by their dad who knew about the apocalypse (whether luther was aware of that or not). He was up there to look for threats, so its not that odd to consider that the threat he was watching for could have caused the apocalypse...oh speaking of which HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE MOON IT DID CAUSE THE APOCALYPSE

i think a lot of people like to ignore the fact that he was also abused. sure, it wasnt to the extent of klaus or vanya but he had a horrible childhood nonetheless which messed him up too. he wasnt taught a lot of the things we take for granted so like i said earlier, the fact that he’s not completely deranged is astonishing

also can we mention the horrible trauma he went through? like lmao monkey man but oh my gosh can you imagine? he almost died (in a horribly painful way) and woke up months later with a fucking gorilla body. he’ll never look like a normal person again. he probably will never be able to look in the mirror and like what he sees (you can find out first hand what its like to be me so GATHER ROU-) yes everything Klaus went through was horrible but Luther has lived through some fucked up shit too and i think we like to ignore that because he’s not very likeable

the scene with vanya. it hurts me every time i think about it. HOWEVER. i understand why he did it. do i think he made the right choice? fuck no. but i get why he did what he did. Vanya was extremely dangerous. She caused the apocalypse. she literally killed everyone on earth. these arent things we should brush over. (and yes i love vanya but that’s not what we’re talking about here) she very nearly killed Allison, and he doesn’t know her well enough to know if she’s here to genuinely apologize or finish the job. He just knows he has a responsibility not only to his family, but to the entire world. so he makes a tough decision. it hurts him too, look at his face. he doesnt want to do it but he doesnt think he has any other options.

about dismissing klaus: he has good reason (at least in his head). klaus is intoxicated constantly, and like i mentioned before, he doesnt realize its because of his powers. he just thinks klaus is trying to have a good time, and to be fair, klaus tries to hide his vulnerability (for the most part) so luther wouldnt know any better. in the end when he tells him to be a lookout? justified. the man is heavily suffering from withdrawal (or intoxicated, to luther’s knowledge? i cant remember if luther knows or not or whether he believes him for that matter) which is gonna impact his reaction time, and he doesnt have powers that can help anyway (as far as luther knows). yes, he was trained alongside them and allison is allowed to help despite also lacking usable powers; however, she is in a clearer state of mind and a lot healthier. She can physically fight. Klaus just kinda...jumps on people’s backs for the most part. Did you see her fight Cha Cha? *swoons* no but seriously, Allison is still highly skilled and in far better shape than Klaus. He’s a liability and staying outside is safer for everyone (again, as far as luther knows) all this being said, the way he treats klaus when hes drunk is Disgusting, Abhorrent, and Unacceptable. i understand that he doesnt realise his own power but thats inexcusable

luther x allison is gross, i agree HOWEVER they were not raised as adopted siblings, they were raised more closely akin to a boarding school. their dynamic had always been romantic; they never saw themselves as siblings. yes, i do find it very odd that literally everyone else considers each other siblings, but im just saying that their dynamic has always been different and technically it’s not really incestuous (im not condoning it, i hate it personally i just can see why its not the worst thing ever? its still pretty yikes though. also shipping literally any other characters IS fucking gross because the rest of them see each other as siblings and always have so gtfo with klaus x diego or klaus x ben g r o s s)

those are the main complaints ive seen (and voiced myself)... basically it all boils down to the facts that 1. he was abused, just like his siblings 2. he doesnt stop to think about how other people are thinking or feeling 3. hes just trying to do what is best for his family (and the world). I sympathize with monkey man. He deserved better. I really hope in the next season he’ll pause to consider things every once in a while (and that klaus will open up because he’s not useless but he’s not explaining to anyone why he does the things he does and he needs to!!) so yeah was this basically just me yelling at me from a week ago? yes. does anyone care? probably not but i felt it had to be done. anyway im done ranting for now....if i missed anything lemme know

I realized something

Im currently in a debate with someone on twitter about SasuSaku/SasuKarin I wont go into details but it basically revolves around Karin as a character vs Sakura as a character and Sasuke’s relationship with team 7/Taka etc

During this debate, I had to do a ton of research on certain things to refresh my memory and argue my points which yes, unfortunately, involved going onto SK blogs

But in doing so, visiting several SK blogs, seeing different SasuKarin posts and their arguments for it, not just on Tumblr but in plenty other places like youtube Instagram other sites on google etc and I noticed a pattern

Majority or I should say ALL the SK fans arguments that I SEEN [of course Im not speaking of the entire fandom only the part I SEEN]

Everything regarding SK although they ‘claim’ to care about Sasuke and his feelings, I noticed a pattern in every single post and argument made by them

NONE OF THEM actually talk about Sasuke’s feelings

Lemme elaborate, the pattern that I saw constantly when speaking of SK and why they should be together etc it all comes down to one thing, or I should say, one person

Karin

Everything I saw was about KARINS feelings, about KARINS backstory, about KARINS horrible childhood and trauma

Basically, the main argument for the pairing is all about Karin, nothing to do with Sasuke at all

Let me elaborate further, to put it in simple terms the arguments and reasoning basically boils down to pity

Thats right, the very thing they accuse Sasuke of getting together with Sakura for is the EXACT THING they use to argue for KARIN

I’ll go even more in depth so you get the full grasp of the BS and the hypocrisy

They think Sasuke should be with Karin because she loved him, she was selfless and only wanted him to be happy, she stood by him even in his darkest moments, Karin and Sasuke have similar pasts so she can understand him better, Karin grew up being used and abused and Sasuke was the first one to show her kindness, Karin loved him unconditionally, Karin deserved love, Karin deserved to be happy, if together they would make really OP kids, the Uzumaki and Uchiha need to reunite again, Sasuke wasnt aware of Karin's feelings to the full extent they actually were so he couldnt properly respond

Do you see the pattern? none of this directly talks about Sasuke, it all revolves around Karin

Let me ask you, which part of those arguments actually mentions Sasuke’s feelings for Karin? in which point do they mention Sasuke’s pov at all? I had yet to encounter one

The most I found was that he respects her, he chose her, he saved her from Bee, thats literally it

Everything else is just all about Karin's feelings for HIM not the other way around which is all based around pity

Sasuke should get with Karin because of how hard her life was, how tragic her life was, how selfless her love was, how much shes done for him, how much shes suffered, Karins been used and abused since she was a child she should be happy with Sasuke who also had a traumatic childhood, Karins Uzumaki genes mixed with Sasuke’s Uchiha ones would create a really op kid, its so sad how Karin never moved on she truly loved Sasuke she should have got a happy ending with him instead of Sakura who was just out of pity and fanservice

The irony is astonishing, it all boils down to Sasuke should get with Karin because of what SHES been through and how SHE feels for him and how bad THEY feel for her because ‘her life was so terrible, she deserved a happy ending’ which is just utter bullshit and quite frankly disgusting

So its ok for Sasuke to be with Karin out of pity for her horrible life just to give her a happy ending they think she ‘deserved’

But not get with Sakura out of pity for her feelings for him and hurting her how he did

I see pitys only ok when it involves the character/pairing you prefer, I see all that talk about SS not caring about Sasuke’s feelings was all bullcrap

Its funny to me how SKs arguments revolve solely around Karin's feelings for him yet SS argues both sides and the feelings and relationship and development of Sakura AND Sasuke together

But when it comes to SK its all about Karin and what she deserves, when it comes to SS its about what THEY deserve and how Sakura AND Sasuke feel for eachother, its not a one-sided argument

I also find it partially sickening that one of the main arguments for SK is Karins genes, keep in mind these people supposedly care about Karin and feel sorry for her messed up upbringing being used and abused for her power, yet you condone using her in this pairing just for her Uzumaki genes mixing with Sasuke’s to create an OP kid, that is beyond disgusting

This messed up argument actually reminds me of the storyline of Maburaho which I’ll post here for those who have never seen it

Kazuki learns that he is a descendant of most of the world's greatest magicians from both the eastern and western worlds. Even though he has a feeble spell count, his offspring has the potential of becoming a powerful magician.

The male protagonist, Kazuki, is a second-year student from an elite magic school, Aoi Academy, with serious social problems, and because he has a low spell count of only eight spells, most of the other students, especially the girls, would not notice him. At the beginning of his second year, it is revealed that he is descended from not only the most powerful of eastern mages but the most powerful of western mages. Having both powerful bloodlines fused into one body means that despite his low spell count, he is capable of wielding nearly omnipotent power. He is, therefore, the most powerful character in the series.

Basically, the MC Kazuki is seen as a loser because he can only use his magic 8 times and obviously isnt very popular with the ladies, however once its revealed that his genes are super powerful and that his child would be one of the most powerful mages in the world, all the girls suddenly want the D and are constantly pursuing him trying to get his genes

It’s the same for the SK fandom, they look down on Sakura because of her average status and glorify Karin as superior because of her superior genes thus making for a much stronger offspring when combined with Sasuke’s

So, bottom line, when it comes to SK its all about pity, Karin's feelings, Karin's genes, her deserving happiness and Sasuke should just reciprocate just to make Karin happy since she had a crappy life

Sasuke getting with Sakura out of pity is something I never wanna see again from SK, they have no room to talk about pity hooking up nor falling for someone's looks, nor do they have the right to claim they're more of Sasuke fans than SS

Of course they can still say this and feel how they wanna feel Im not trying to control anyone, Im just saying that from now on when I see those arguments Im gonna view them in a whole new perspective and see it for the hypocritical bullshit it actually is, especially when they claim to care about Sasuke yeah thats a riot lol

Anyway thats the end of this mini-rant I guess, should be obvious Im not directing this at the entire fandom just the portion of it that I’ve seen, its honestly pathetic and makes them look like not real Karin or Sasuke fans

It’s similar to the NS argument that Naruto should have gotten with Sakura because hes the MC and he deserved her etc, but genes are never a part of it so SK is arguably worse in this regard, its just a disgusting way of shipping two characters you claim to like

Pity, what one character deserves, who has better genes, how bad someone's life is so they deserve to have what they want in the end whether that person likes them back or not just give them the happy ending you think they deserve

How To Write a Rules Page

I see a lot of people who are confused as to how to go about writing a rules page for their RP blog, or worse, sticking something generic and unhelpful in that spot because they feel like they have to have something in order to be taken seriously.

A rules page isn’t just a fancy decoration, it’s supposed to be something for you to convey important information to your followers about how you want to run your blog. That said, I understand it can be daunting when you don’t know where to start, so I’ve put together some points to keep in mind when writing your rules.

Useful Information:

What kind of blog is this? Is it independant (not affiliated with any roleplay group)? Is it non-selective (will roleplay with just about anyone), selective (you pick and choose who you roleplay with based on whatever your personal standards are), or private (you only RP with mutuals)? Are there any exceptions to this? (For example, I roleplay only with mutuals, but anyone can follow me or send me an ask for a meme.)

Are you 18+? This is a really important one, please include it in your rules or about.

What kind of things are you comfortable RPing, regardless of your age? Are you open to anything as long as both writers are communicating and checking with each other, even darker things like gore or sexually explicit content? Or do you prefer to stay away from that? NOTE: if you’re a minor, please don’t RP sexually explicit content.

Do you have any specific things you like or don’t, like ships? Do you have a specific way you want people to approach you for shipping so you don’t feel like they are “forcing” it on you?

Do you have any specific fandoms or characters that you do not want to interact with at all?

How do you like to deal with shipping? Are you multiship (every relationship your muse has is treated as existing in a separate universe) or single ship (you only ship with one other person and consider your muse “taken”, or you are looking to have this kind of exclusive relationship with another roleplayer)?

What kind of tags do you use to organize or filter your content? Do you have any special topics or triggers tagged? Do you have any special topics or triggers you want other people to tag for you?

Is your blog spoiler free? If not, how do you deal with spoilers? Do you tag them, and if so how (and for how long after the canon content comes out)?

How fast or slow are you at replying, and are you alright with people reminding you about threads you haven’t answered in a while? How long is “a while” for you? How would you prefer they remind you, if you are OK with that?

Most roleplay blogs do not want other people to reblog their roleplays if they aren’t a part of them. This can be useful to include in your rules, but make sure to add any additional guidelines you personally would like people to know. Do you not want people reblogging your headcanons, asks, OOC posts, etc.? Do you not want certain blogs following you at all, like duplicates (people with the same muse as you) or personals?

Do you observe “reblog karma” (expect people to send you an ask for a meme before reblogging the prompt from you), or no?

Did you use any fanart or other assets that you didn’t create yourself when putting your layout together? Credit the artists responsible, either on your rules, or one of your other pages.

Additional Tips:

Add a mobile link to your rules! To do this, just add the link in your blog description like this:

How it will appear: Please read my rules before interacting.

Don’t feel like you need to hit all of the above points like some formula; they’re just pointers to get you thinking. And please feel free to organize your rules page in an easy-to-read way. Blocks of text will usually make people’s eyes glaze over, so whenever you can avoid them, you should. Bullet points and bolding important items are both really useful tricks to use.

Personally, I’d advise staying away from anything too generic, because it just becomes background noise after a while. This is especially true if they are useless guidelines like “no godmodding.” Literally no one likes godmodding, and people who do godmod don’t think they are. If you want that rule to be helpful to anyone, you have to define what that means for you.

Bad: No god-modding or meta-gaming allowed!

Good: Please do not control my character during our roleplays without checking with me first. If our characters do not know each other in canon, please discuss with me before you assume your character knows anything about mine.

That said, there are some cliche rules that may always have to be said, even though I wish they did not. One big one that comes to mind is:

Mun =/= Muse! Understand that the things my muse says and does do not necessarily reflect what I think, nor do they necessarily mean I condone them.

Going off the above, it might also be a good idea to warn people about what kind of content they can expect on your blog if you have a darker muse.

Proofread your rules! Many people (myself included) copy/paste rules from blog to blog, but it’s really jarring for the person reading if you forgot to replace the name of a character or fandom while doing that.

Finally, and this is a big personal thing, I’d advise against passwords. I can tell you from experience they don’t work. Half the people who read your rules won’t send it in anyway, and the people who do aren’t always the ones you want to RP with, so they you have to deal with thanking them for reading but then not following them back. Worst of all, you end up worrying even more about whether people read them or not, instead of feeling more secure about it.

If people want to tell you that they read your rules, they will find a way, trust me.
