Wildflower meadows are beautiful; so beautiful in fact that a village in Britain has found they act as natural speed traps from motorists slowing down to look at them.
The village of Long Newnton in Gloucestershire has a problem with fast moving through-traffic between nearby towns. Almost all drivers moving through areas they frequent will break posted speed limits, and neither a 30 mile per hour limit, nor warning signs made any difference.
Officials first planted flowers along the roadside during the pandemic to help improve biodiversity.
But they noticed that as well as attracting more wildlife, motorists also slowed down when they passed the flowers.

exactly two years ago to this very minute i was listening to all hail west texas for the first time, listening to the mountain goats for the first time, and very slowly having my life changed forever. and now i get to listen to the follow-up to that very album and love it more than i’ve loved anything they’ve done in the last ten years (saying something) and hear it echo through all the room in my heart that’s been carved out by two years of mountain goats listenership and watch it make space for many, many, many more.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT ABT KIRYU HONESTLY
I’ve ranted to friends before abt how Kiryu is just genuinely so stupid that it comes of as dick-ish and inconsiderate to the people around him ESPECIALLY majima like?? He absolutely knows majima would walk through hell for Kiryu and takes full advantage of that in the worst ways and I don’t even think he fully realizes that that’s what he’s doing. Like please I love kazumaji as much as the next person but really only at a very specific point in time when they were both at their least fucked up gsgdfdf (kiwami 1 obv)
All is to say I agree please put the whole rgg fandom in an intro to literature class I think they’d greatly benefit gsgdf
kiryu is one of my favorite characters BECAUSE he's just so ass backwards. like On Paper he's a good guy: left the yakuza and is trying to live a normal life, has an orphanage and takes care of kids etc etc. but then you like. ACTUALLY look into him and its so funny.. he's such a dick and he doesn't even know and i love him. he just wants to do what he thinks is right and SOMETIMES he's right but his judgement also puts other people in peril (i.e. majima and daigo)

So—
Being eighteen was great, can't wait to see what being nineteen will show!!
#no but truly#18th was the best year of my life so far#despite the insane levels of stress and torturous academic workload that going through the finals was#i started talking to people after years of proper communication with only my sister#for a brief while I was even brave enough to share my thoughts with the world#it was delightful#i made friends on my own which is something I've never been able to do before#i met you guys#my dearly beloved mutuals!!!! <33#i made art and started feeling something about it again#i created so much I didn't even think I was capable of something like that#me and my friends created entire worlds in our minds#as well as loads of characters which i love dearly!!#i mean it's not really mine to call my achievement but it feels so incredibly special to be a part of something like that#i reignited genuine interest inside of myself towards life and even picked up a couple of new special interests#i read and watched so many great stories#oh yeah I finished school so good riddance to that part of my life hehe#i enrolled into one of the best universities in the country which still feels insanely unreal#took a gap year#me and my sister travelled on our own and were able to finally meet our internet friends which is the flaking best thing in the world#worked two jobs with an occasional third one to save up a bit#i'll be moving out of my home city this year which scares the shit out of me but is still so so amazing#there were and still are tragedies around me that split my heart in half with fury and despair#and I feel unfairly privileged to be granted so much joy in my own life#so yeah it's been one hell of a year#sorry for getting so insufferably emotional but I love all this so unbelievably much#i love you all folks :')

Kelp forests once stretched for miles along the English coastline, until they were destroyed by supertrawling. Now they are making a comeback thanks to a local campaign that forced the government to ban the practice. How did they do it? Ask most people what their favourite plant is and odds on not many will say “seaweed”. It’s hardly beautiful, doesn’t smell sweet, and looks altogether … brown-ish. It doesn’t help that seaweed is literally below the surface – out of sight, out of mind. Which means its destruction can go unnoticed, until it’s – almost – too late. Take Britain’s coastal kelp forests. They’re one of the country’s most diverse ecosystems. But most people only have the haziest idea of their value. And value they have, in spades. They’re a vital nursery and feeding ground for a huge range of fish and marine animals, including cuttlefish, lobster, seabream and bass. They help muffle the power of storm surges and coastal erosion. And they can be carbon sinks, too.

apparently one of the guests at my best friend's wedding this summer liked the wedding crossword i wrote enough that she would now like to commission me to write one for her wedding. we don't even know each other so i don't know if this is going to go very well lol. how do i write a crossword for someone i don't know? should we just start hanging out??? the wedding's not till march so we have some time to become besties i guess. would love to be like "yes my commission rates are you take me out to dinner as many times as it takes for me to understand you and your partner as people and as a couple. but it doesn't have to be anywhere fancy. mostly you will be paying me with Intimacy." yes. great idea. what could go wrong

magda waking up naked caked in dried blood with the wound still oozing slowly in her chest (and it's the kind of wound that Won't Close, metaphysically) in a stone prison in a barrow wrapped up in her own tattered cloak given to her in neverwinter when she was knighted (not that she wanted it. but it had its uses) and realizing she has zero zero zero negative non-existent access to ANY of her warlock skills: 😳
