Greeting O' freckly Sebastian. I hope you are well and that you're surviving the cheese.
I don't remember how I ran into this one, but it was quirky enough, had enough weird elements and funky beats that my brain got absolutely addicted to it and I shared to friends who didn't really appreciate it like I did, and I even shared it on here, and shamefully deleted it later on.
This song I've always connected with my older half brother, who I lost contact with 8 years ago. Short summary, his father got mad, he got mad, and he and his family (wife and kids) broke all contact which included his own sister, my little brother, mother and me. However, this year, 2023, I met him and his family again. His kids are teens now, and it's sad I missed out so much of their lives, but I'm glad we're back in contact.
My crutch song for bad days and tough times, when I just want to scream to the world that I matter as well, punch the idiots that harass me and so on.
This gives me hope for a new day because Lil Nas X went from a sweet little cowboy, do pole dancing down to hell to give a lap dance to a devil version of himself, because he's proud of who he is 🏳️‍🌈. Also the song is bomb in my opinion.
And my final song, for this year it's generally speaking been good, I've been feeling good, yeah, I'm feelin' alright. (Sorry I had to) But it's the truth as well. It's been a generally good year. I wish you and everyone
Godt Nyttår! Happy New Year!
ᵃⁿᵈ ⁿᵒʷ ᵒⁿˡʸ ¹⁰ ᵈᵃʸˢ ᵗᵒ ᵐʸ ᵇᶦᵍ ³⁻⁰. ᴼʰ ᵈʳᵉᵃᵈ.
Best regards - Zu
Godt Nyttår, Zu! (hipp, hipp, hurra og gratulerer med dagen 🥳 )
Miss You is fantastic! We post with no shame. None! 🤘 NO REGRETS.
Sounds like you had quite the year, the good and the bad (but we are especially happy for the good!) Thank you for living your truth, and for sharing your memories and your music (and your lovely art!) with us throughout it. The community would not be the same without you.
I can't listen to Muse without thinking of you now, and honestly I love that. I love that these songs connect all of us.
Here is a special one for me.

Hi girl. I have had this scenario in my head for so long, I have to share it: Bucky is a singer, pretty up-and-coming despite a history as a Disney channel actor, but his contract was cancelled when he wanted to come out. Now he is big again, sort of have a Lil Nas X vibe and is invited back to all the glamorous places - like the Grammys or Oscars og something, where he meets up with his old friend Nat from The Mouse days, and she introduces him to Steve Rogers, who is a Big Deal 1/2
2/2 and a Big Daddy, and Bucky knew who he was before, and Steve is fucking hawt, but as far as the public knows he's straight so Bucky is prepared to just lust from afar, but Nat introduces them (she and Steve costar in the latest Oscar winner or smt) and Buck and Steve hit it of, and talk for hours and Bucky realizes Steve might be hitting on him, and the end up fucking in a bathroom and Bucky accidently calls Steve Daddy while he rails him over a sink and Steve LOVES that.

I don’t usually do these but thank you @volbeast for the tag and something to do instead of paying attention in class.
Last song: MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) - [SATAN’S EXTENDED VERSION] - Lil Nas X this bangs so fucking hard, I am literally forcing myself not to listen to it constantly so I don’t get sick of it within a week. The only way to make the OG song better was to make it longer and Nas said “brb about to recreate heaven but it’s queer now” and I am forever grateful
Currently reading: Lot’s of dsmp AO3 fanfics while mentally critiquing how people write Techno and Phil
Currently watching: Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and I’m rewatching Gravity Falls occasionally because I need some inspiration for a piece
Last movie: Song of Granite. Weird choice, but I had to watch it for a class. I think the last movie that I saw just for fun was Parasite, which I loved
Currently craving: some serotonin or some noodles, whichever is gonna be easier
Not tagging anyone, feel free to do this if you want :]
(and if you tagged me in something like this and I didn’t respond I promise I don’t hate you I just either don’t do these because it’s not my style or I was planning on it and my adhd kicked in and I got distracted)

Bts paved the way for kpop idc what anyone says no one cared about kpop until BTS
I beg to differ, maybe for the late 2010′s and performing at award shows but not for kpop as a whole. However, this is always going to be a topic that always going to be two sided. And I full on respect your opinion, because I can see where its coming from.
I’ve always felt like kpop was just a sub genre like a lot of other music, while its not mainstream and US artist will always have the upperhand in their home country kpop has a large enough following in the US, its just like that time were J-rock and J-pop was huge… btw does anyone remember Puffy AmiYumi?
I think the reason as to why it really looks like they were the ones who paved the way for kpop is because of the social media and fandom culture we have now, from 2005-2014 social media culture wasn’t like what it is today, I’m not even talking about fan interaction either, because I feel like there was way more fan interaction on twitter from the B.A.P members.
Lets see the timeline of kpop/korean artist making headlines in America
2005
Rain made headlines for being the first ever Korean artist to perform outside of Asia. He was also the first Korean artist to perform in the US, and let alone do a 2 hour concert. It’s one of the biggest Korean concert that was held in NYC. It even featured Pi Diddy, Omarion, and JoJo Levesque. This was the initial foot print that the hallyu wave had outside of Asia
2006
Rain made headlines for because Time magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, to that Stephen Colbert invited him on his show and they did a parody of Way to Avoid the sun.
The year that MTV made a special channel on American TV soley for kpop called MTVk
2007
Rain also again gained more american attention for being listed in People’s most beautiful people in the world
2008
Bi Rain and Joon Park both were in Speed Racer, that was a big achievement for Korean Singers… just simply being able to graze the big screen. Rain more so than Joon got a good amount of attention, he even got some American interviews
2009
Rain and Lee Joon were in Ninja Assassin. Rain made major headlines for again not only being in an American movie but this time actually staring in the movie and about how much training he did just for the movie.
This was also the same year Korean actor Lee Byun hyun had his US debut
GD at the time also got some attention after the alleged plagiarism between Heartbreaker and Right Round when Flo Rida performed with him
Wonder Girls made their American debut
Wonder Girls were the opening act for the Jonas Brothers making the Jonas brothers one of the first American artist to work with a kpop group
BoA’s eat you up was released and played everywhere
2010
Rain again made American attention by not only being nominated for an American award show but also winning MTV’s Movie Awards Biggest Badass Star beating Angelina Jolie, Chris Pine, Channing Tatum, and Sam Worthington
Will.I.Am started to work with 2ne1
2011
Bigbang gain global attention and celebrity clout after being the first kpop group nominated, attending and winning Best Global act at the MTV EMA’s beating Britney Spears in the process
2012
Fantastic Baby went viral, reaction videos were popping up left and right. Fantastic Baby even played in some stores and I believe some radio stations
Fantastic Baby was featured Glee
SNSD had their American debut
Wonder Girls made a American movie and JYP was featured in it (i know.. its cheesy)
This is the year of B.A.P’s debut where their debut album made it into the the World Album Chart at number 10 which was extremely rare at the time considering they didn’t even have a kpop section yet.
Bigbang was on the Grammy’s front page twice
Bigbang’s Alive world tour was the only full on sold out Kpop concert at the time, selling out not only in NA but SA and Europe, and were forced to add extra dates because the demand was extremely high, not to mention celebrities were showing up left and right to their tour stops
This year was also Psy’s year which did bring attention to kpop and YG ent… regardless if Gangnam Style is a joke or not
The first Kcon was created
GD also got international attention by showing up at PFW12
2013
B.A.P and Psy were featured on Grammy’s “Best of 2012″ making B.A.P the only kpop group on that page
B.A.P’s first world tour for their US dates sold out in about an hour
Little Mix decided to join in on the Hallyu wave by doing a Korean version of Wings
Will and Jaden smith met up with YG fam and Jay Park which brought attention to kpop beings that Jay wrote a song for their movie
Will.I.Am and 2ne1′s collab was released
Anna Kendrick also wanted to get in on the Hallyu wave action by meeting up with f(x)
B.A.P performed in time square generating so much attention
The year that Billboard gave themselves a kpop section because of the major Hallyu wave giving credit to B.A.P, 2ne1, and Bigbang for helping that chart exists
Justin Bieber asked GD to feature at his concert in Seoul and proceed to tweet and IG about him
Paris Hilton talked about GD being her favorite Korean artist
Paris Hilton tweeted about hanging out with GD
Barbara Palvin talked about GD
Choi Siwon went to the Met Gala
Super Junior was invited to Oxford to talk about how they helped start the hallyu wave and the kpop attention in the US
2014
Skrilex released his song featuring CL and GD
B.A.P did a nickelodeon shout out
I think this was the year that Exo got a lot of American attention too, but im not sure because im not an Exo-L
GD got attention just for showing up at Coachella
CL signed with School Boy
I am the Best was featured in a microsoft commercial
2015
Emma Stone professed her love for kpop on American TV
Fantastic Baby was featured in the Pitch Perfect trailer
I am the Best was featured in a microsoft commercial again
Hyukoh’s Come and Goes gained international attention
2016
Far East Movement worked with Chanyeol and Loco
Jaden Smith tweeted about GD being is inspiration
Baauer released a song featuring GD
Lil Yachty did his Bigbang tribute and has been know to be a fanboy of bigbang for a while
Epik High was the first Kpop group to perform at Coachella
CL performed on James Corden
I am the Best was featured in a microsoft commercial again
Hello Bitches was in a T-Moble commercial
GD got international attention for being chosen as Channels ambassador
2017
President Obama talked about the Hallyu wave and gave credit to shinee
Tablo, Rain, and Kim Taehee were invited to the Grammys
Jaden Smith tweeted about GD’s album
Jay Park signed with Roc Nation
DNCE talked about wanting to work with GD
GD got international attention for is world tour
2018
I am the Best was featured in a Kia commercial
Hyukoh’s Citizen Cane was chosen to be in the Animoji comercial
Hyukoh x Beats by Dre
Hyukoh was interviewed by Beats1
Taeyang got international attention for just getting married
I would go more into detail by just tweeting about kpop but thats too much work to look for, kpop is a fad and it comes and goes. I kind of like what Hyukoh said about the whole Hallyu Wave/BTS thing they said “I think it’s really interesting and it’s fun to watch. Because of it, I think in some aspects were are benefitting from it, that’s really great. But nothing is forever, there will be some point when K-pop won’t be as popular. But because we’re not K-pop, I hope we stay popular even when K-pop is not.“
BTS did not start the hallyu wave, nor did they pave they way. They were just the first to walk on that new path which then inspired more to do the same and they were the first to win fandom based awards.
No matter what this will always be a topic is where some OG and new kpop fans clash, so yes, BTS is helping the Hallyu wave but they didn’t create the fad. I think the real Hallyu wave starter is Rain

but with the exception that Olivia is the cheap copy of Taylor at least those of us who have been fans of Taylor since she was a teenager had Taylor's originality like going from country to princess pop with success the new fans of Taylor will have to settle for Olivia I know you're going to say shit about Taylor because of my comment but it's the truth all pop girls want to be the next Taylor swift but you're so into Olivia's ass that you don't want to see it.
I’ve been the one negatively - but with nuance - commenting on Olivia since DL while you guys were stanning her and saying she’s the greatest thing since sliced bread simply because she was sucking Taylor’s dick. Babes: you guys are ACTUAL FREAKS. 0 personality beyond “Taylor Swift is Jesus”. That’s embarrassing. Olivia isn’t particularly original, no. I’ve said that from the beginning. I also said like “this is super tacky marketing from both Tay and Olivia lol and it’s gonna have to end”. I was shouted at back then. And now when she’s stopped fellating your fave and your fave stopped fellating her because she can’t do that to a #1 artist and now one isn’t super small and the other her “mom” you’ve turned on Olivia because you guys are fucking pathetic nightmare people.
Like I’m not up anyone’s ass.
Olivia isn’t original. She’s not the greatest songwriter ever (btw she’s said this). She’s not the most talented performer. But she appeals to young women on a visceral level and idk why that upsets you guys.
And she probably won’t end up a legend - few people do and I think of that generation Billie has the biggest odds or Lil Nas X - but this “hate train” you’ve gone on is not done in the name of Taylor Swift - a woman whose haters (so people like you to Olivia) almost drove her to suicide. Imagine stanning Taylor and thinking bullying young women online is done in her name. Taylor keeps saying “we’ve all got crowns” but you guys keep shitting on other women and it genuinely sickens me.
So you’re anti Tay haters but you think all other female artists should be hated on? Lol okay.
You’re a misogynist then not a Taylor fan and Taylor wouldn’t like u 🤷🏻‍♀️ - not saying she’d like me but I don’t act in the name of her liking me. If I were doing that I deeeeefs wouldn’t be shitting on other female artists because I would KNOW that sickens her. Like she’d fucking HATE that.
Finally: I don’t believe OG Swifties are hating on Olivia unless you were 5 when she debuted and then you’re not an OG Swiftie you’re just a pathetic Gen Z pick me who’s decided liking Taylor Swift makes you not like other girls. No adult person who has liked Taylor since debut would EVER subject a female celeb to that kind of treatment. Ever.
Like it literally almost killed Taylor - do you want to be responsible for maybe almost killing someone else? Delightful dude. Truly fucking amazing people. Taylor would love that for u right?

November 2018 -*PlayLi$t of the Month*
Tumblr media
The underground sound ain’t playin’ around in 2018.
Over the last few weeks, The Alchemist has received even heavier play than usual through these headphones of mine (I just got the wireless buds from my in-laws, I think I dig them!). That’s thanks in no small part to his fantastic recent contributions to Westside Gunn, Schoolboy Q, Curren$y and Freddie Gibbs. October closed with a powerful flurry of new rap releases, both of the underground and mainstream variety, so I am here to share my favorites on this especially stuffed edition of my PlayLi$t of the Month...
1. “Echo” - Swizz Beatz feat. Nas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMINMawUzow
(Let’s get the obvious out of the way first: this song is *vastly* superior to anything on that ill fated Nasir album with Kanye West. Whatever Swizz whispered to Nas to get him to snap back into Nasty mode, it should stand as further proof that the Ruff Ryder maestro’s status as a cultivator of hits is hall of fame worthy. Hearing the Queensbridge legend spit bars about old New York City life, watching karate films at dirty Time Square movie theaters, watching flashy cars drive up and down Steinway Street in Queens - there’s just no one better than Nasty Nas when he’s off to the races on a wave of nostalgia, thanks to his high attention to detail. DJ Scratch deserves just as much recognition for this sweet soulful back-drop, one of two strong Scratch showings in heavy rotation this month. “Echo” might be one of my favorite rap songs of the year, this is classic Nas.)
2. “'The Blow” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA4dPwtthZU
(Yeah we gotta talk about this FETTI project. The chemistry between Spitta, Gibbs and The Alchemist is off the charts, and that much has been clear since Covert Coup’s “Scottie Pippen” first rattled through speakers back in 2011. So needless to say, this FETTI album bangs top to bottom. My favorite cut off the album might not even be my favorite cut by this time next week, because the whole tape is staying in rotation for the foreseeable future.)
3. “Fork In The Pot” - The Alchemist feat. Conway, Westside Gunn & Schoolboy Q
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPMgi0bSB0Q
(More Uncle Al, you say? What the hell, why not!? Before FETTI dropped on Halloween, this was the stand-out Alchemist leak for the month. The eagerly awaited B-Side to last month’s “94 Ghost Sh*t” A-Side that was teased on IG some time ago, “Fork In The Pot” is another incredible contribution to the growing ALC & Griselda canon, helped by a dope verse by Schoolboy Q that is sure to build hype for his upcoming album. Will it drop in 2018? All speculation at this point, but I say YES.)
4. “Saturday Night Special” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sv1psKaIgU
(More than any other track on FETTI, this one feels like classic Alchemist. A smokey loop like this one does indeed paint the perfect image of slowly cruising through the neighborhood on a late Saturday night, perhaps with a Saturday night special somewhere in the vehicle...or so I imagine - I myself have never lived that life, but the music is vivid, and the mood set by The Alchemist is palpable. What a great example of how the best producers don’t just make beats, they paint audio portraits. And like the lyrics themselves, the instrumental is, well, instrumental in telling the story.)
5. “N***as In Puerto Rico” - Westside Gunn feat. Lord Flee & Benny
https://soundcloud.com/westsidegunn/niggas-in-puerto-rico-feat-lord-flee-benny?in=westsidegunn/sets/hitler-wears-hermes-6
(Folks, I really didn’t plan this, Alchemist is just that damn good! My favorite song off of Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 6 - wow, I can’t believe he’s up to 6 now - shows exactly what happens when these lyrical barbarians from Buffalo lock themselves down with The Alchemist in Puerto Rico for a while. Look out for the beat switch-up, as both instrumentals suit this gathering of MCs particularly well, making me that much more excited about what Al may have cooked up for Benny’s upcoming Tana Talk 3 album.)
6. “Something Dirty/Pic Got Us” - Swizz Beatz feat. Jadakiss, Styles P. & Kendrick Lamar
https://pitchfork.com/levels/swizz-beatz-something-dirty-pic-got-us-new-song-listen/
(While it might not pack the level of punch that fans hoped it would when Swizz first teased it live on stage a few months back - or even have an actual verse from Kendrick - Jadakiss & Styles P’s appearance on Mr. Beatz’ new Poison compilation remains one of the tape’s finer moments. Hearing Jada & SP pass the mic back and forth never seems to get old, plus this AraabMUZIK beat is still absolutely bonkers.)
7. “Willie Lloyd” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-7h0Dkz6b0
(It has felt like too long since I have shouted out an Alchemist joint, am I right? "Willie Lloyd’s” ominous instrumental makes for the ideal palette to have Gangsta Gibbs flex over, and flex he does, making it one of many stand-out verses on FETTI.)
8. “John Bena” - Westside Gunn feat. Lil Eto
https://soundcloud.com/westsidegunn/john-bena-feat-lil-eto?in=westsidegunn/sets/hitler-wears-hermes-6
(Yikes, this beat is pure menace music! And who produced it? None other than The Alchemist’s mentor, DJ Muggs, who has had quite an impressive year in his own right. Let the record show that both Westside Gunn and Eto do their thing on “John Bena”, which is no easy feat considering how overwhelming this instrumental could potentially be to weaker MCs. Furthermore, I feel like it needs to be said at this point that Westside Gunn is a VERY dope MC with his own style, traits that are not easy to come by in today’s biz. He raps his ass off on HWH6, so don’t think for a minute that WSG is carried by beats, he is not a replaceable presence on any track. So go cop that HWH6.)
9. “Location Remote” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUAawyYs0uk
(A tape like FETTI warrants a cool, but eerie, intro track...and this fits the bill perfectly. I love the whole project, but I love this specific song more and more whenever I hear it. “Call the chiropractor” indeed, Mr. Gibbs - this joint is heavy.)
10. “Flipmode Squad Meets The Conglomerate” - Busta Rhymes feat. The Flipmode Squad & The Conglomerate
https://www.vibe.com/2018/10/busta-rhymes-flipmode-conglomerate-reunion-single/
(Remember when I mentioned DJ Scratch earlier? Well this massive posse cut is part of this month’s 1-2 punch of Scratch production, lucky us! Here he channels classic Busta vibes for not just one, but two of Busta’s rhyme crews to slap around for a bit. What I really like about this song is that they all sound like they’re having fun here, which is not as common as I would like it to be in today’s posse cut starved rap market. Hopefully this means DJ Scratch will make his presence felt on that upcoming Busta album!)
*Bonus - Honorable Mention [extended edition]*
“Niagara Cafe” - Westside Gunn
https://soundcloud.com/westsidegunn/niagara-cafe?in=westsidegunn/sets/hitler-wears-hermes-6
“Tapatio” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJHxFVZfAC0
“Grim Seasons - Homeboy Sandman & Edan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umff7Hael9k
“Skeleton Piñata” - HAZE & SPNDA feat. Puffy
https://dutchmastered.bandcamp.com/track/skeleton-pi-ata-feat-puffy
“Militant Exercise” - Knowledge The Pirate feat. Roc Marciano
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIlyUJ7Oyb8
