Kouga could not have made a bigger mistake.

Ms. Higurashi was excellent at what she did. Her referral came with high remarks, she specialized in cases such as these, and most importantly, she was completely discreet. No one knew he was looking into his grandfather's will, no one knew he was gathering evidence for a future case, no one knew he would soon be getting that asshole out of his grandfather's house for good.

No one had any idea that he knew he was being shafted, he knew he'd been lied to, and he knew the "lawyer" they scared him off with hadn't been licensed to practice in seven years. But with a not-inexpensive retainer for Ms. Higruashi, he had all that evidence and the promise of more.

It was still a mistake. Kouga could barely pay attention when she relayed the information she gathered and her intentions from week to week. He tried, oh, he tried, but her voice held a straight line to his dick. And he absolutely could not have that happening -- she was working for him! He was paying her! This was completely inappropriate! He tried to change their method of communication to email, but she refused, preferring voice conversations. He saw the logic in her decision, but it rained hell on him every week.

Her voice followed him through his day whenever he was alone, in his car, in his art studio, in his dreams. He couldn't get her out of his head no matter what he tried. The closer they got to the end of this investigation, the sooner he would no longer be plagued by her voice stroking over his nerves.

Kouga had no idea if he wanted that or not.

All's Fair in Love and Prank War

Rating: Teen Status: Complete Summary: Every year, their company hosts a prank war video for Halloween and every year, Kagome watches from the sidelines. The pranks are fun and the people enjoy it, but she's always been content to leave it to her coworkers. Until this year when she's accidentally targeted for a prank and decides to jump in feet first. She joins Kouga in a battle against Inuyasha and Miroku and if she can play her cards right, this prank war won't be the only thing she wins this Halloween season.

Chapter Excerpt:

Skipping the elevator and heading straight for the stairwell, Kagome began her trek upwards. Four flights up to grab one copy from a previous budget proposal, two more flights up to her office, it wasn’t terrible. It was easier to take the elevator during the weekdays when people were in and out and the office was buzzing, but now, when the lights were off and not a sound could be heard? Oh no, Kagome was not getting into that death trap of a box.

She didn’t know where her…unease of elevators came from, but she wasn’t stupid enough to ignore it.

Arriving at the fourth floor, she wasted no time crossing the open floor plan toward the far end with the line of filing cabinets. Ginta told her they stashed all budget proposals in one spot no matter which department it was for. Finding the file she was seeking — bless Ginta for being administrative-minded — it was a mere three steps toward the copier. Two copies made so she could mark up one of them, she returned the original file and headed back toward the stairwell.

Still no lights, but still not unusual. They usually turned off the sensors when there were no shoots on the schedule.

Papers going under her arm, grabbing the door to pull it open, already seeing the end of her quick stop by work coming to an end—

A large, dark figure stood right behind the door, towering over her, black hood casting a shadow over their face, everything concealed except the bloody, white fingertips reaching out for her.

What Could Have Been Update

Chapter 3

Rating: Explicit Status: In Progress Summary: Kagome wished on the jewel, but it wasn’t the right wish.

Chapter Excerpt:

It was the eerie silence surrounding her that Kagome noticed first. She couldn’t remember the last time she heard nothing — animals were always chittering, wind was always rustling, and even when she was home in the future, sounds of the city were everywhere.

But here, she heard nothing except the beat of her heart in her ears. It was a slow rhythm similar to what she heard when waking up early in the morning when she could slowly drift awake. Odd, though, as she couldn’t remember falling asleep.

There was another sound right on the tails of her heartbeat. Another pulse, she realized. Kagome was not alone.

Breathing in helped her keep from panicking and with it, she could smell damp earth and pine from the trees. The first smell wasn’t very familiar, but the second was one she was growing to know well. If she pressed her nose closer, she might be able to pick out the scent of the waterfall his furs sometimes held. Blinking her eyes open, she made out Kouga’s face shadowed in the cave.

“Kouga?”

The word came out hoarse and Kagome cleared her throat as she sat up, realizing all at once she had been cradled in his lap. He steadied her with a strong hand behind her back, but the weight of his other arm over her legs didn’t allow her to move any further. It wasn’t uncomfortable, per se, but she wasn’t quite sure what to think this close to him.

“What happened?”

“What do you remember?”
