When the fandom adopted Payu as the VegasPete son I was like, “Yeah, that makes sense, carry on”. But when they started pushing Prapai as the Kinnporsche son, I was like, “Eh, that’s a stretch.” It felt like they were only doing it because the other ship was doing it, ya’ know? But then episode 8 happened.

Arrogant, comes from money, works for/with his father, looks good in suits, used to getting what he wants, falls in love fast, painfully unsubtle flirting techniques, impulsive, sleeps around casually, guilty of dubcon, involved adjacently with the mafia via illegal street-racing? Yeah, that’s Kinn.

But also, charming, drop-dead gorgeous, loves motorcycles, chaotic gremlin energy, biggest dopiest smile when in love, good big-brother/caretaker, loyal friend, lots of sexual experience but NO romantic experience whatsoever, kinda slutty (affectionate), and a certifiable dumbass? That’s all Porsche, baby!

This episode changed my mind, it made a very convincing argument for Prapai being the Kinnporche son and now I am here for it!

Wherever it is, as long as he’s by my side, I’ll be able to live. Ugh, so cheesy.

No, but it's actually so so so interesting, that Vegas isn't the first one to kiss Pete. And it leads me to believe that it wasn’t his plan to seduce Pete at that moment. Quite the opposite actually. Vegas was trying to push Pete away.

Because Pete is dangerous. He didn’t run, when he had the chance, he stayed to help Vegas through his grief, he gave Vegas’ hedgehog a funeral and even after, he didn’t run, he followed Vegas back to his own prison to keep him company. And when Vegas tried to hurt himself, Pete was probably the very first person to stop him. To tell him that hurting himself is not the answer here, that Vegas doesn’t need to punish himself for not being able to meet his garbage father’s batshit standards.

And that scares Vegas, because if there’s someone out there, who sees something worthwhile in him, then what the fuck has he been doing with his life until now? Pete is steadily showing him different options and Vegas is terrified. So no, he’s not trying to get Pete into bed, not at all. He’s being crude and aggressive, he’s trying to push Pete away and when Pete doesn’t react, when Pete calls him a psycho, he thinks he’s succeeded. He makes to leave the room, and Pete is still free to run. He didn’t bind him again, Vegas is counting on Pete running, either to get rid of him and the ideas he’s planting in Vegas’ head, OR to run him down, capture him again and have another reason to punish him, to hurt him. Have a reason to believe that Pete will inevitably betray him as well.

But Pete kisses him.

Pete doesn’t run, doesn’t let Vegas leave, he kisses him.

We can see the momentary shock on Vegas’ face. And then he grins because this is different. This is interesting. And when Pete offers him the rope, offers himself to Vegas, Vegas is a goner. Afterwards, he’s looking at Pete in such wonder that it hurts to watch.

Vegas was trying to push Pete away, but damn if Pete will let him.

You know, I always took this scene in ep 1 to just be funny - with Porsche being his chaotic, reckless self (making demands of a mafia boss, like he isn't already cornered) and Kinn showing what may be a glimpse of softness (smiling in a way that was maybe supposed to be smug)...

But then, the joke's over - Korn agrees to let Porsche be the head of Kinn's security - and when I focus on Kinn's perspective here, the whole thing seems sadder now.

Like, Kinn looks really upset when the bodyguards leave.

And why wouldn't he be? He's just escaped an assassination attempt, spent frustrating hours chasing after this fool at his dad's behest, and now suddenly his dad rewards Porsche's disrespectful behaviour by making him Kinn's head bodyguard. Putting Kinn's life directly in Porsche's hands.

There's got to be at least part of Kinn here questioning if his dad really cares about him. Is this a test, to see if he's worthy of leading the family? A trial by (phoenix) fire?

Or does his dad not see his work as dangerous enough - important enough - to care?

So they're two minor side characters from the Thai bl series KinnPorsche, also known as The Gay Mafia Show. At the beginning of the series Big is the head bodyguard for Kinn, who he is secretly (and quite hopelessly) in love with and who is the heir to the family's mafia empire. He is Loyal with a capital L, fiercely protective of Kinn, a little (a lot) pathetic in his devotion and quite frankly a bit of a dick. Ken is just Ken his best friend, also a bodyguard for the Main Family and also a bit of a dick. He's from Australia originally and brings us delightful iconic phrases like "nice one, loser" and "are you fucking dumb, bro". Also, pineapple boxer briefs. You mostly see the two of them together and when they show up it's usually to be a bitch and/or to bully Porsche, who is the other main character and love interest for Kinn (hence the name of the show).

They're terrible people is what I'm saying. But then again so is almost everyone else on the show lmao it's the mafia ok!!

It's never explicitly stated in the show but we see other bodyguards room together (namely Porsche and Pete) so the widely accepted headcanon is that Ken and Big are roommates (oh my god they were roommates etc etc) and just because I live for this kind of thing I have convinced myself (and others, apparently! through the power of art) that while Big is hopelessly in love with Kinn (canon), Ken is hopelessly in love with Big (canon in my heart). It's about the pining and the tragedy and a secret third thing (jealousy) for me

Well. I don't want to spoil too much in case you're ever planning on watching it but it's kind of important for them, so ... towards the end of the show Big ends up sacrificing himself for Porsche (or rather, for Kinn's happiness) and dies not knowing that Ken is the mole they've been searching for and is actually working for the Minor Family (so, for Kinn's cousin and uncle who are the main villains in the series). But Ken is killed as well, at roughly the same time just at a different place and at the hand of his actual employer Gun, so they both end up dead.

Which, you know, I personally think is unacceptable because I love them and don't want it to end there, so most (but not all) of my art is set in an AU that I brainstormed with my partner @pharawee in which they both survive and then have to deal with the consequences of their actions (which is absolutely delicious to me because man!! You have Big who is so desperately loyal but has been kind of struggling to find his place now that Porsche is there, and Ken who betrayed everything Big held dear but !! Is also his best friend!!! But is he really? Has he ever really been his friend at all?? And if Ken is a traitor what does that make him who has been sharing everything with him?? Bonus points since Ken is in love with him and never wanted to betray Big personally. So much potential for angst I am telling you, it's a feast), and then eventually they find comfort in each other and carve out their own path. If you're interested you can read the beginning on ao3.

In other headcanons there's been a Thing going on between them all along and sometimes they still die. Or they don't but everything is still fucked up. Either way it's all good and I'm here for all of it hehe

interesting how people think this was a “happy” ending. on the contrary, everyone is in the exact position korn wants them to be. kp “ended” with korn winning and manipulating everyone again. therefore, it is not an end, but setting up a whole new plot.

korn killed gun before he could finish what he was going to say about nampheung. what was it? we don’t know. he said “history is written by the victors” when he saw the pic of kinn and porsche in love. he is using their love to his advantage and by making porsche head of the minor family, he eliminated a huge threat bc he knows porsche would never betray kinn. he has leverage over porsche and he can oversee everything. he has won.

korn is the one who killed porsche’s father. when porsche had his first flashback he saw gun sitting down and korn standing. so gun’s explanation seemed to be true. he was about to spoil a secret so dire that korn had to instantly kill him for fear kp would hear it.

now, there are so many loose ends to tie and plots to uncover. what is nampheung’s deal? was she pretending all this time? what was gun going to say? what was korn’s plan all along?

he is moving everyone around like chess pieces. at the end of the first episode, he began his chest match and said “let’s begin.” the events of whole show have been korn’s doing. he has won the match. if he has won, it cannot end there. there must be justice.

the way I see it, there is so much to go on from here with a second season. kinn and porsche still have to realise korn’s deceit. and the only way to take korn down is if kinn realises all this himself and dethrone’s korn by his own choice. with porsche’s help. and perhaps even vegas’s help. kinn still needs to grow into the strong mafia leader and be the true head of the main family instead of listening to his father’s orders. and the journey to that point is not easy.

Hmmm a lot if you may disagree with this, but I feel like had Big survived, he and Porsche could have become good friends, given time? Of course not right away, but I feel like after the shooting there would be a sort of begrudging respect growing between them, then a complicity born out of their common goal of keeping Kinn safe. I also think Big could get a chance at letting his feelings for Kinn fade out (in favour of daddy Chan who's alive and well, ammirite mr peter knight sirrr) by watching him being insecure and yes, stupid, by seeing a more human, less idealized side of him, and I would just love for Big and Porsche to share the same exasperation at this mafia prince who isn't half as cool as he thinks he is. They would insult and take shots at each other every step of the way, but maybe Big could find a new sparring partner who isn't going to backstab him, Porsche could take a new reluctant friend out for drinks at Yok's, and then suffer revenge for giving Big his first hangover since schooldays.

The whole scene is so emotional. And I understand Mile when he says that this was one of the most beautiful and difficult scenes. (Thank you for the post with the translations @cetacean )

Personally, I don't need a big "I love you". I saw so many people demanding these three words from Kinn and that's absolutely fine if they think that an "I love you" says more than Kinn's other words or his actions. I don’t see it that way. Words can be beautiful, yes, but they can also lie. I've said it myself without fully meaning it and it was said to me just before my partner at the time jumped into bed with someone else. So, I believe these words less than others or actions.

And those four little words "Please be my bodyguard" of Kinn's touched me in a special way that made me tear up. He's not just telling Porsche to start again. He's not just telling Porsche to spend more time together, side by side. He's not just telling Porsche, let's trust each other again. (Miles words)

He says so much more with them. And Mile's facial expression are on point with them! We know Kinn as the head of the Main Family. He has to punish his subordinates when they make mistakes. He has to eliminate people when they become a threat or to make a statement. He has to be tough, a leader and he has said and shown that to Porsche more than once. And now he is standing in front of him and this little word please comes across his lips. Before that he just said: "Be my bodyguard". A statement that hardly tolerated contradiction, a demand, an order. Please be my bodyguard. Please. I could cry again. He equates himself with Porsche, puts them both on the same level. He knows that his request can be refused and he wants to give Porsche that choice. He wants to show him, you are important to me and I respect your opinion, your view, your life, your safety, simply you in everything. And he does something else - he shows Porsche that he is vulnerable and has weaknesses and that he is safe with Porsche by his side. Porsche is not supposed to be his bodyguard, he is supposed to be his partner with whom he wants to go through thick and thin, whom he wants to have around 24/7. He is the person he feels the safest with.

Fuck, this is just perfect. It's Kinn's I love you and Porsche understands that because he finally understands Kinn. And that's just so beautiful.

no better comedy than the immoral villainous seemingly irredeemable cousin going from 'no one will love me i am a monster inside' to domestically raising kids with his sort-of-enemy maybe former-tortured-prisoner and the whole time he's STRICKEN with wtf is even happening are we in love? are we married? is this a ride to die?? can't even call this a speedrun bc the speed at which events had happened is so jarring it tore the fabric holding fragile realities together.
