Newsletter #11: December 2022
If I'll describe my entire 2022, I'd probably go with WOW. I may have plans prepared for this year but it's still surprising how God surprises me spontaneously with unexpected things.
This year's highlights weren't really expected but I'm glad they happened. Join me as I wrap my 2022 in writing!
YEARLY WRAP-UP
For me, 2022 is an unforgettable year because this is the year when I first released a story related to my profession—Medical Technology. Publishing 576 Hours With You was the best way to start the year because little did I know, I would be known by most of my readers for medical romance stories.
One of the projects I had this year was to bring back my old stories namely, Brownout (Lights Off), OFF LIMITS, and April Fools Day. The unrevised version of these stories made me cringe but it was actually a great learning experience as a writer. Revising and rewriting these stories made me realize that there is still room for improvement for me.
This is also the year when I tried to enter Wattpad Romance PH's writing contest. I was able to write entries for the January and October writing contests namely, Three, Two, One, and Baby Boo, respectively. Despite not winning the contest, writing these one-shots down was still an achievement for me. Besides, it was really a great writing exercise as well.
Last but not the least, and probably my greatest highlight among all of my 2022 stories... You Make Me Sick is my first story within a collaboration series. This is probably one of the most unexpected things to happen to me this year because this wasn't really part of the plan. Nevertheless, I'm not regretting it because this brought me talented collaborators turned to friends, milestones I never imagined for my stories, and a community of readers (despite being small).
2022 HIGHLIGHTS
This year is the first time I collaborated with some writers. First, Tales From The Closet was released by several participating authors for our Write For A Cause project, in order to extend help to victims of the typhoon Odette. It's a privilege and honor for me to use my writing as an avenue to help other people. Through this project, I also discovered underrated gems and gained new writer friends. WFAC writers, I'm glad I met you all!
That wasn't the lone collaboration project I joined this year. Last February, I stumbled upon Gwayne's tweet wherein she wanted to start a collaboration series featuring Medical Technology. Since I love my degree program so much, I took the chance to do so. Few months later, we were able to release our collaboration project entitled, "MedTech Love Stories." Because of this collaboration project, I was able to craft one of my best works I've written so far which is You Make Me Sick. Aside from this, I was also able to connect with my fellow medtech student writers. Despite our busy schedules, I'm glad I have found new friends who I can rant on about my studies and understand it as well.
You Make Me Sick did not only bring me new writer friends but an actual community of readers. More than the reads, votes, and comments, I believe that the actual people who I can talk to is the best gift that my stories could give me. It brought me friends who I can treat like a family, and I'll forever be grateful for that.
NEW NAME FOR READERS
Someone asked me what do I call my readers and I just answered, "readers." Just because I don't really have a name to collectively call them. (I'm so sorry, you guys! Hahaha.) One of the reasons why I didn't want to give a collective name for my readers is that it could easily be mistaken as a fandom. I feel uneasy about that term because I don't want to be idolized by anybody. Besides, I've always wanted to treat my readers as my friends.
Another reason why I haven't established a name for my readers was because I don't really have any good ideas for a name. But since someone already asked for it, I've really thought about it seriously. So if you're a reader of my stories, I welcome you to my community of readers, RNAs, which stands for Readers Ni AM!
In medicine, RNAs carry genetic information and have various functions such as translation of genetic information, regulation of gene activity, and so on. This is a reminder to myself and to my readers to treat each other like family. Since you've read at least one of my stories, I'm hoping that you already have a piece of me, just like a single strand of genetic information. At the same time, you are also a part of me already.
I wouldn't be able to reach this far without you. Thank you for 377 followers on Wattpad! 🧬
WRITING MILESTONES
Last year, I made sure to document my numbers to see my growth statistically. Numbers are undeniably great indicators of growth, thus, this yearly statistics. Looking at my statistics last year, I can conclude that there's also growth in numbers from the number of reads, to the number of stories I've published, and to the number of followers I have in Wattpad.
This was also the year I braved myself enough to apply for Wattpad's Ambassador Program, which I successfully graduated to last July. My job as a Content Ambassador is fulfilling and enjoyable even though it's tiring but it's all for the love of the Wattpad community.
And so another time, here I present my yearly statistics for 2022.
Once again, if you reach this, thank you so much for being a part of my 2022. I hope to see you again next year. Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone!

Good day everyone. Super Typhoon Odette (with an international name Rai) - the strongest typhoon to hit Philippines this year - has struck the country leaving countless cities in Visayas and Mindanao (eastern part of the Philippines) devastated and some are currently under a state of calamity. This has displaced thousands of families from their homes and are greatly in need of every bit of help.
I’m respectfully asking everyone to please pray for the Philippines and donate anything if you can. I’ll be attaching pictures and links of initiatives containing info about donation links. Please share this post as well! It would really help a lot to get information spread.
Here are some organizations that are accepting cash donations:
World Vision Philippines is a leading emergency response that help families affected by the typhoon. Here’s a link to their facebook post containing more info.
Pawssion Project is the leading donation drive for animals in Siargao. They’ve partnered with Siargao’s local animal shelter Puppy Puddle Siargao and Lokallab to bring goods and veterinarians in the island. Here’s a link to their instagram post containing more info.
Donations to Youth Advocate for Climate Action Philippines will go to relief operations for the affected communities in Visayas and Mindanao. Here’s link to their twitter post.

Our place was affected by Typhoon Rai (local name Odette in PH) on the evening of December 16, 2021, I may not go online as much because we don't have power yet and our communication lines/network signal isn't that stable, but just wanted to let some of my friends know, especially @chloelapomme @your-internetfriend, that we're doing okay and we're safe.
Our house had some damages, but is mainly intact. I'm thankful that we still have a roof over our heads and that we are still alive.
(Just a side note - though I know this isn't really that important - I don't think I'll be able to post for the rest of NH month)

AirAsia Philippines cancels Manila-Cebu-Manila flights due to airport closure
Manila, 17 December 2021 - AirAsia Philippines has today canceled its Manila-Cebu-Manila flights scheduled for 17-18 December following the closure of Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) which was badly devastated by typhoon Odette.
In a statement issued by GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation, operator of the MCIA, the initial closure of the airport until 1852H today 17 December will be extended until 0900H, 19 December, Sunday, to give way to immediate repairs of the damaged infrastructure and facilities.

Guests who are traveling on the affected flights listed above are encouraged to check their registered email and mobile for notifications for updated travel information.
AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said, “Safety is always the topmost priority of AirAsia. We know how flights home are incredibly important for all of our guests especially since we are only days away from Christmas. That's why we are mounting special recovery flights to make sure they can reach home safely and as soon as possible. We likewise advise our guests to monitor SMS notifications, email and AirAsia social media platforms for timely updates on flight schedules.”

All affected guests who wish to be accommodated on the recovery flights may go to this link. Further, seats will be subject to availability.
In light of this weather event, AirAsia is making the following options available to guests whose flights have been canceled or delayed longer than 3 hours:
Unlimited flight changes: Change to any new travel date before 26 March 2022 on the same route for an unlimited number of times with fare difference waived, and subject to seat availability;
Credit account: Retain the value of the flight booking in the guest’s AirAsia BIG Member account for future travel with AirAsia to be redeemed within 730 calendar days (2 years) from the issuance date. The travel date of the new booking can fall on any date within the published flight schedule on airasia.com
Guests who wish to make booking changes online may go to airasia.com and click on the AVA icon on the lower right of the screen. From the categories available, click on “Booking Changes” then “Flight Change” and finally “My flight was changed by AirAsia.” From there, simply follow the instructions to make changes to your booking.
AirAsia Philippines guests traveling over the next few days are strongly encouraged to check their flight status and visit the airasia flysafe page for the latest updates on travel requirements.

what’s going on in the PH?
despite being weathered by typhoons multiple times a year, SUPER TYPHOON ODETTE (internationally known as Typhoon Rai) has left many islands in the Philippines devastated— especially in Mindanao and Visayas.
the media is barely covering any of this. i have friends from Bohol and Negros sending photos, updates on their surroundings. they won’t have any power or water for weeks and even months. yet according to them, new outlets are simply passing it off as another unfortunate storm, when it was in fact almost— if not just as— bad as Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) that struck the country last 2013. there is barely any mainstream coverage (the ABS-CBN shutdown is a factor to this, but let’s not dig into that).

watching the news and seeing the sheer scale of destruction typhoon odette caused in ph is just. oh jeeze.
#the cellphone towers are all down where my family is so we havent been able to call them but they're fine#my tita who's there visiting family is there and she does have international phone service and she called to let us know no one#in one area has died and they're all good just. wet. and also the roads are impassable bc of the down trees#and my other cousin has a wifi signal so my mom is checking in on the family in that region#but i just saw the arial footage of kabankalan and im :(#i bought a lot of really delicious honey candies when i was there and im just :(((
