Woes of a sad poet

There is something oddly poetic about having your ambitions, hopes and dreams stolen away. It's like you're idly wandering through a sea of new aspirations and hobbies and ideals, but none of them is yours. In turn, you're exhausted and sad with no pastime and nothing to work towards. There's truly nothing like the dull humdrum of life without something to make you happy.

I am not a parent but weirdly I’m putting in the most personal stuff in these “parent Cullen and Lydia” chapters. For an example, Cullen is actually the first person after the midwife that holds Emma, his daughter. My dad was actually the first person that held me after the nurse. Cullen says “I’ve been waiting for you,” and that was the exact same thing my dad said to me. Obviously I don’t remember but I do remember him telling me the story in our pool one year. i also remember he cried when he told me, one of the only times I’ve seen him cry.

Lydia is remembering her father. Wishing things were different because Cullen is so sweet with their daughter unlike her own father. Like the conversation my dad told me he had with mom, where she told him her father was never like that with her.
