Ok, so, I've been following this animatic artist who's been doing stuff for that Odyssey concept album thing that's been going around (image specifically from: https://youtu.be/aIAUIq5FFqQ), and I noticed a very familiar looking headband.

and, like, I legit can't tell if the creator of *this* animatic watches OSP or the actual songwriter does (since that general design for Odysseus seems pretty common across artists), but either way it seems very neat.

Had a wierd dream where me and Red from OSP were rerearching a group of people called the Nori, who live mostly under water and really don't like to be bothered, so we were basically snorkeling a respectful distance away and trying to observe them through murky water to figure out how they could stay under so long. Was it a genetic thing where they can just hold thier breath for a while? (my guess) could they somehow breath under water? Or were they actually mermaids or Selkies from mythology that were either closly allied with the local islanders or had land and sea tranformations?
Anyway there was a third guy (a hot himbo) who turned out to be a treasure hunter, so he immediatly made a dash at the Nori to abscond with some treasure they probably had lying around. But as he was making a break for the boat (which me and Red booked it to as soon as he got up to his shennanigans cuz we knew the Nori would be Pissed) Himbo sneezed underwater, which somehow knocked him out. Oh yeah by the way, through dicking around we found out that the water was breathable (probably magic or some shit) which solved part of the Nori mystery.
Anyway, Himbo blacked out and somehow floated through time and space to wash up on a beach to be met with ancient vikings. He was in just about to recount the story of how he made it back to our time and place when i woke up.

I think the saddest part about Unity's godawful news is that a lot of games are going to just. disappear.
it's like Unity is trying to go the way of streaming where the hidden gems and cult classics don't make enough money, so, they're taken offline. except this time it's with games (mostly indie).
to put it in perspective, hollow knight, cuphead, and ori are made in unity. so are night in the woods, tunic, and countless more indie gems. hell, AMONG US is made in unity. if the devs of any of these games can't shell out the outrageous cost, then maybe the devs will take them offline. and we'll just. never be able to play them anymore
it's a sad possibility that I don't think any of us ever had to consider. but now we do.

Hey Red, ive finally managed to watch leverage and the shot at the end of episode 2 where nathan ford drives away in a tesla has sure aged. Its so weird watching a scene that im sure was intended to be foreshadowing of a hopeful future with the current cultural context.
it must've been interesting for the writers to gradually realize that they should've been basing villains of the week off of elon instead of product-placing his merch

indie games are safe!!
good news! unity has walked back a lot of the runtime fee!
they made a blog post outlining their new terms, the link is here. but if you want a sparknotes version, here's the highlights:
1. the runtime fee is not retroactive. previously released games are safe.
2. the fee only applies to the next major version of unity. developers can choose not to upgrade if they don't want do deal with it.
3. the fee is opt-in and number of installs is self-reported. if they'd prefer, developers can instead pay a 2.5% revenue share. (for reference, unreal is 4%.)
4. interestingly, the splash screen is being completely removed. this is probably a way to improve their reputation.
overall, this is a HUGE improvement! but, if I remember right, there was not any revenue share before, so, we are not at the same point we started. unity will still be taking a larger cut of developers' revenue if they choose to use newer features. but, it is nowhere near as drastic as we thought it would be.
overall, I think we're in a stable spot now, but I also think unity has lost most if not all of the trust it had. especially with indies. there has already been a mass exodus, and I kinda hope that will keep going.
