Trans men, transmasc folks, & anyone else to whom this applies

I’m curious how many people wear a binder &/or wear a packer. Always = daily or almost daily, often = around half the time, & never = not at all or almost never. Pick whichever option is closest to your experiences.

If you have had top &/or bottom surgery choose the option that reflects what you did before surgery. People with a more complex experience of gender (genderfluid, multigender, butch, etc.) that affects their desire to bind or pack feel free to elaborate on that in the tags.

One question I see asked a lot is whether or not you can go on T and avoid certain effects like bottom growth, facial hair growth, or even potential hair loss. Usually the answer I hear is no, but I wanted to say that this is not entirely the case.

While it's true you can't pick and choose with extreme specificity, people looking for some masculinizing effects but not others might want to ask their doctors about going on testosterone and finasteride. Finasteride is a hormone that limits the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). You may have heard about the anti-androgen properties of finasteride before from trans women and transfems, but it's an option for anyone looking to limit the impacts of T. Despite being closely related, T and DHT actually serve different functions in the body.

DHT is largely responsible for bottom growth, face/body hair growth, and fat redistribution.

Conversely, testosterone on its own is responsible for increased muscle mass, increased libido, oilier skin, and a deeper voice.

So, by using finasteride to limit the conversion of testosterone into DHT, you can limit its effects without limiting the effects of the T as well.

I don't hear very many transmasc circles talking about finasteride, even though people are unknowingly describing it on a daily basis. Hopefully this post helps with that.

moment of vulnerability: as a transmasc nonbinary person I have very low self esteem and struggle to love myself and my body. I am scared that I come off as annoying, rude, socially awkward, and have a very hard time accepting that someone could be attracted to not just my body but my personality as well.

If you've struggled or are struggling with this can you please share anything that has helped you?

If you are a transmasc person in a relationship (sexual or romantic) can you please share because I feel like i rarely see transmasc rep in romance and it doesn't help discourage the idea that im unlovable.

Sundian Transmasc Flag

This is a transmasc flag meant solely for black transmascs.

I originally created this flag and coined its label (Sundian) on September 24th, 2021, and have now brought it here for the usage of other black transmascs!

The basis of its label stems from Sundiata Keita, the first ruler of Mali. He was chosen as an homage to my own ancestry based in Mali; given that he was often titled “The Lion of Mali”, I chose a male lion to serve as the emblem of this flag.

Please note that this flag is open to all individuals who fit under the transmasc label, whether they be trans men, nonbinary transmascs, intersex transmascs who may use multiple labels (ex. our peers who are transfemmasc), etc, as long as they are black.

The meanings behind the flag colors in order:

Dark red: Self-acceptance and empowerment

Red: Unique experiences with gender expression

Salmon: Gender euphoria

Cream: Transmascs all across the diaspora

Brown: Expressing love and joy in one’s blackness

Dark brown: Black unity and pride

Nonblack users may reblog to share with their black peers, but do keep in mind that this is a flag and label by black queers for black queers (as it is meant capture our experiences in both of our communities).

"What if he's Ken, not Barbie? Why does he have to say sorry?"

Honestly, I grew up having Barbie as my childhood's hero and there was nothing i wanted more than be her. When I slipped into adulthood and found out I was transmasculine, I got like "so what if I'm a boy, I'm still Barbie and you can't keep me from it"

As the years went by I found out I was a nonbinary transmasc, and not a binary guy as I thought, and, as I never stopped being a Barbie stan, of course I had to watch the 2023 movie. And Allan seems way more relatable tbh. I pictured myself on Barbieland, not as a Barbie nor Ken but keeping my name and not fitting in as a Barbie or as a Ken.

This is pretty random but yeah, I just wanted to share.

I had my top surgery today!!!

I am feeling great, I woke up from anesthesia at about 7pm and walked back to the hotel with my partner at about 9pm.

I am so flat, it's crazy!!! Immediately, I felt so much relief and joy, and when they took off the bandages to show me my new chest before I left, I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear.

The nurses were all so lovely and my surgeon Dr Tuve Mårtensson was also very nice.

The vegan food I was served after surgery was also delicious.

The signs of me being trans were definitely there, even if they weren’t the usual ones:

1. Phantom dick sensation

2. seeking male acceptance and belonging

3. feeling weird talking about girls with other girls because I like girls, *just not in the same way*

4. feeling unseen in wlw spaces, loving femboy culture, and being super into trans women

5. Wanting to END a motherfucker in middle school for policing me on using the word „dude“

6. Frustration with tomboys because they do boyish things, but I wanted to be a boy

7. Mulan was literally my favorite movie growing up.

8. so aggressive, so competitive!

9. yeah men are hot, but *there‘s something more there*

10. cishet -> enby/ace -> gender-fluid -> trans/pan pipeline LET’S GOOOOO!!

I am aware that all transition journeys are unique, and that I’m leaning a bit on stereotype here, so the only thing that really matters is that if I ask myself deep down:
