very interesting to me that the big three of the current hero gen in mha - shouto, midoriya and bakugo - are often portrayed as also being the closest in a lot of fics bc it's like. you've got shouto's two best friends as a boy with a volatile personality fuelled by his blind ambition and desperation to be the best, and a boy whose quirk destroys his body. like if you combined two of shouto's best friends you'd get touya but we're just not supposed to redeem him. okay

It keeps on hitting me just how much we could’ve had of Lane and Dave through the seasons that we never did.
Like creative differences in the band and balancing couple conflicts with band conflicts. Lane meeting Dave’s family and interacting with them. The two of them fighting for each other and for the band to make it, no matter what «making it» looked like. Even genuinely tackling long distance if they truly wanted Dave to go off to study for a while.
Flirtations, jokes, music nerdy rants, making time for each other, writing each other songs, cute dates and loving touches in the background. They were never supposed to be a front and centre couple, but what a supporting cast couple they not only were but could have been

ideas: i didn't really think of him being underwater but they deserve to have drama by crying there too so i just think you could say something about the composition being denser than water or w/e. proteins
i'm always like good thing he didn't try to exit asap via swimming in ciao alberto But What If He Did lol. just swim Somewhere else along the coast, maybe panic about [money??] & whether somehow this ruins school for luca, whether he can get in touch w/o it being On Sight b/w him & all marcovaldos, consider just kind of trying out other places, traveling after all...fascinating considering the other povs on the issue like: now there's the paguros to sympathize w/a kid vanishing, luca however in a somewhat more novel position there, giulia's throwback to alberto being a bit perplexing lmao, kind of thinking the best massimo could do is have a prewritten letter for luca to give to alberto If Possible, conveying something like i know you didn't set my livelihood on fire on purpose but even if you did i'd want you to stay. and luca in a position to do all of "maybe give the island fun facts so someone can check if he's there" & "wait & hope alberto can/does get in touch" & "have a lot of feelings"....not even the context of what this drawing is about necessarily, just tacking it on here anyways. ahead of time i went "heh now i Know they're gonna have it get little Real here b/c it's really about alberto wanting the security of feeling he can 'earn' a sustained relationship" then the short cleared & i was lying completely dead on the pavement

The ‘vote blue no matter who!’ crowd is starting to get on my nerves. Like, I’m trying not to give away the game, but do they even know that we’re playing?
The point of loudly denouncing Biden and the Democrats NOW is to threaten them into stopping a fucking genocide that’s happening NOW. It is the only (legal) way we can threaten them as their constituents. It’s a game of fucking chicken! If the Dems were legitimately concerned about ceding office to Trump, they would take action NOW to try and recapture voters. But they don’t because they think they can get away with literal genocide and still win the Oval Office because voters like you are too chicken or too paralyzed to make a simple threat.
I don’t give a fuck what you do in the ballot box come November but jfc this is about collective bargaining and you cowards can’t even pretend to give enough of a fuck about a genocide to threaten your reps like??? Grow a fucking spine and do the bare fucking minimum of voicing your solidarity.

Today, I noticed that when it comes to Mason, supporters (both online and IRL) do not engage in banter or constructive criticism. They openly abuse and insult him. Calling players names, assaulting and insulting them in the name of banter or enthusiasm makes you an idiot and imbecile, not a passionate fan.

both of my mom’s parents died when i was in middle school 2 years apart it was sad but all my mom’s family lives close by so like one of the worst parts of them dying was the selling of their home because it was the center of all family gatherings… but my dad’s mom literally lives 15 minutes away and all my dad’s siblings live out of state… so i spent a lot of my childhood with her and have the closest relationship with her of all her grandkids… (my sister being the second closest) with my other grandparents there really wasn’t a closest grandkid or at least i wasn’t it… my gramma is one of the closest relationships i have outside of my direct family (is that the term) and i always have a hard time dealing with my emotions and understanding feelings as an autistic person but this is really hard i cant process it and i don’t know how to and i guess i won’t really start until she passes in a few days but i just idk

Actually really pissed that discourse around stereotyping and bad writing in media turned into "does this character have X,Y,Z traits? Is this character an admirable human being? Are they the good guy?" instead of promoting actual good writing and what that entails.
It's not about the presence of individual traits! It's about if the minority character is treated as a complex human being with believable motivations and who is looked at with an empathetic eye by the story!
If you personally don't like certain traits to be present in a character that has your identity, you have a right to do that, but it's not criticism, it's your opinion. You know what your dislike doesn't do? Make that character a stereotype! Because a stereotype isn't a character with traits commonly assigned to them, it's a character who isn't written as a fully fleshed human being save for those traits. The character isn't treated with dignity by the author because the author does not give them a character.
If they are fully fleshed out and complex with understandable motivations then? They aren't a stereotype. Because people like that exist in real life, and you viewing them as a stereotype says more about you than it does about them.

clicked into the nintendo dream engage poll thread on r/fireemblem even though i haven't even played this game and LMAO so many comments about how these results aren't reflective of the fanbase as a whole/totally irrelevant because it's mostly (straight apparently??) girls voting. but then people are also turning around and saying wait for the CYL results that's the TRUE metric ...as if heroes isn't disproportionately full of (STRAIGHT) guys compared to the fanbase as a whole
