HC that Neil is INSANELY good at cleaning after himself. He never leaves crumbs when he eats. He never puts receipts down anywhere. He constantly changes his routine in small ways. He is literally always erasing himself, making sure to leave no clues for them to catch him with. Never stepping in mud because muddy footsteps are way easier to track. Making sure that his hair is not falling. He picks up everything after himself, even the smallest things. He can use a room and leave it like no one was there, ever. He doesn't have eidetic memory like Andrew — but he's just, if not more, meticulous.
It breaks everyone's hearts when they see this. He leaves the kitchen and it's like he's never been here. If you looked for clues of him in the foxhole, you would never find them. Do we know Katelyn's surname (well now we do)? Do we know ANYTHING about her appearance? Do we know anything about the appearance of HIS MOTHER? Yeah, she was short and ... and what? And NOTHING, THAT'S IT. She was short and paranoid. I'm sure we know about his father ONLY because they were similar and Neil had a couple of breakdowns because of it.
But let him start about Andrew's fucking broad and solid shoulders-
Neil as a narrator: We went to the banquet in clothes.
Also Neil: When the light hits Andrew's beautiful golden eyes at a 41° angle, it makes them look like the scolding hot sun that keeps our world from turning into an uninhabitable wasteland.
Thinking about how andrew had never been treated with decency and understanding his entire life, to the point one person does and he comes to the conclusion that he cannot be real, he has to be a hallucination because it is impossible for anyone to ever treat Andrew minyard with respect, he’s so unfamiliar with the feeling he literally convinced himself it was too good to be true, just being treated like a person
