This is a bit of a scary story. It's one of my earlier experiments with magical creatures.
The Beatles, their lady companions and manager, Brian Epstein are admiring a beautiful Easter day when two strange children approach them with a basket full of special eggs.

Prologue for my new fanfiction
Crisp leaves lined the path and crunched as leather boots walked briskly over them. The figure limped their way down the street, grasping their chest in pain. Wind blew furiously through the town as if it was angry at them. They quickly made their way to a library and stepped inside, their head pounding and stabbing pain in their chest. The librarian’s eyes snapped up to them, a look of worry falling over her face. She ran up to them and helped them inside, sitting them down at one of the tables. The librarian didn’t seem to notice them— a good sign, for sure.
She asked them several questions, all of which they replied as vaguely as possible. The one question they didn’t answer was their name. They simply looked down at the table in silence, refusing to reply. She sighed and stood. “Very well. We oughta get you bandaged up.”

VAMPIRE RECHERCHE À QUEBEC,” Le Petit Journal. November 13, 1932. Page 17.

In a whimsical corner of the internet, a story unfolded—a tale of sun, sand, and surf. It was the kind of story that made you long for the smell of the ocean and the feeling of a warm breeze tousling your hair.
Once upon a vivid blue canvas, where waves lapped melodically against the shimmering shore, she emerged. The beach-goer, a stunning protagonist, had anime-like charm with eyes that seemed to reflect the entire ocean's depth. Her dark hair danced in the salty air, tousled playfully by the capricious sea winds.
Cloaked in a bright red jacket emblazoned with a simple yet mysterious 'H', she seemed like a guardian of the coast, a sentinel watching over the endless dance of the tides. Sunglasses perched atop her head, she was the embodiment of cool, a look completed by the bright red life ring slung casually over her shoulder—like a lifeguard off-duty, she carried the promise of adventure and safety.
The beach-goer possessed an air of enigma, a story untold. Who was she? A local hero, a distant traveler, or maybe a spirit of the sea? People whispered tales behind screens, fingers tapping away to spin narratives as colorful as her attire.
And amidst the unfolding scene, the online realm buzzed with imaginative interpretations. Some saw her as a lifeguard taking a break from her vigilant watch, a fleeting moment of relaxation captured in vibrant hues. Others imagined her as an explorer in a vibrant world, cradling stories of sunken treasures and secret coves.
The allure of her presence was undeniable, and stories swirled like the grains of sand beneath her feet, each one a universe of possibility waiting to be explored.
As the sun journeyed to kiss the horizon goodbye, so did the image fade from view, leaving behind a canvas of inspiration. The beach-goer became a muse for the digital age, a fragment of fantasy brought to life through the sheer force of collective creativity.
And so the tale lives on, shared and reshaped, a mosaic of thoughts and wonders shaped by those who dare to dream.

Thinking about how I would write an adult Scooby-Doo series, because I think it can be done.
The first thing I’d do is make the characters actually be adults.  Still young, but adults, in the mid to late 20s range.  Mystery Inc. is a private detective type business that they run together.  In this universe, the supernatural/ghosts/etc are real, but not necessarily common, so when they take on a case, the culprit might be a person disguised as a monster, or it might actually be a real ghost.  The stakes can be higher; sometimes a bad guy is legitimately trying to kill them.  Sometimes the mystery they’re trying to solve is a murder.  Sometimes they actually get hurt on their cases.
Fred: the core of Fred’s character should be that he’s incredibly kind.  Like, give a stranger the shirt off his back kind.  The “Fred can’t talk to potential clients because he might take a case for free and we need to eat” kind.  He’s an honest and good person and sometimes gets himself into trouble because he assumes other people are too.  While he’s not very good at reading people or noticing ulterior motives, he’s brilliant when it comes to mechanical or engineering type stuff, so he’s the one who keeps the mystery machine running, builds their gadgets, and of course, designs the traps.
Daphne: she comes from old money, and her parents absolutely despise her life choices, to the point where they haven’t officially disowned her, but they have basically cut her off, so she doesn’t actually have access to any family money.  Growing up wealthy has granted her a variety of skills, including speaking multiple languages, horseback riding, and fencing.  She’s very into fashion and jewelry (even if she can’t afford it anymore) and has extensive knowledge of both that can occasionally provide a vital clue in a case. And even though her parents have cut her off, Daphne still has a wide network of contacts she can ask for favors sometimes, because she’s personable, and people tend to like her.  Daphne is also very emotionally intelligent, and is usually the one who can spot when someone is lying to them.
Side note - I ship Fred and Daphne, so I think I would start them off as an established couple for this universe.  Dating, engaged, married, I don’t care.  They are stupidly in love, ride or die for each other.  There’s no will they, won’t they, no worries about cheating.  They are in a healthy, happy, loving relationship, and no one (not even Daphne’s disapproving parents) are going to mess that up for them.
Velma: she is the forensics nerd who sometimes gets super excited about the wrong thing at the wrong time (”He was mummified in seconds? That’s so cool!” “Velma!  His wife is standing right there!” “Oh.  Sorry.”).  She’s not purposely insensitive, she just gets laser focused on her work and forgets to filter herself sometimes.  She’s also the one who can get so fixated on solving whatever mystery they’re working on, she’s willing to bend or maybe break laws.  Is breaking and entering really so bad?  Not if it gets them answers.
Shaggy: he is still the comic relief, but he’s the comic relief by being the only person in the group that actually has common sense.  He manages the business’s finances, he’s the only one who knows how to cook, and the others tease him for being a coward sometimes, but Shaggy maintains that if a ghost with an axe is coming for you, running is the only sensible option.  He should also have a range of random knowledge that sounds useless, but sometimes saves the day (ex ventriloquism, origami, the history of spoons, etc).
Scooby: as this is a universe where supernatural creatures exist, Scooby is an ancient eldritch type being that took a shine to Shaggy when he was a kid, and took the form of a talking dog to befriend and hang out with him.  Aside from the talking dog bit and not aging, he never uses his powers in a way that anyone notices.  The audience is not told upfront that Scooby is an ancient eldritch being; it should slowly be hinted at throughout the series so the audience put it together, but the characters never realize it.  Scooby genuinely considers Shaggy to be his best friend, and cares about the rest of the gang too.

I played Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky for the first time a little while ago and was reminded of how very wholesome the PMD series is. So here are some completely self-indulgent drawings of my rescue team. Shout-out to anyone else that has played the game with this specific combo!

“CHILD OF EIGHT IS KIDNAPPED NEAR HIS HOME,” Ottawa Journal. July 29, 1932. Page 3. ---- Joseph Esposito Enticed Into Motor at Bay and Lisgar Streets. ---- SAY MACHINE WAS FROM CONNECTICUT ---- Radio, R.C.M.P. and Bo der Officials Enlisted in Wide Hunt. ---- Enticed into a car bearing a Connecticut license. Joseph Esposito, eight-year-old son of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Esposito, 85 Beacon avenue. New Haven, Conn., and at present visiting in Ottawa with his mother. was kidnapped at Bay and Lisgar streets at 7.15 o'clock last night, and all efforts of police had failed to locate him or his abductors up to an I early hour this morning. No reason is known for the act.
When the unfamiliar cry of "kidnapping" echoed through the offices of the city police and detective departments last night, and was coupled with information that United States citizens were concerned, the authorities brought every agency into play in an effort to find a speedy solution to the crime.
Have No Clues. Their work was made difficult by total absence of clues to the identity of two men who were seen to drive away with him from Lisgar and Bay streets, only a short distance from the house at 618 Cooper street, at which he had been staying.
Radio broadcasts were made. giving all known information about the kidnappers' car, and a description of the missing boy. Royal Canadian Mounted Police were informed of the case in order that their various posts might be on the look-out for the car, and immigration authorities here, at the request of police, spread the alarm to border points to keep a close watch in case an effort was being made to take the young New Haven boy across the international border.
The victim of the kidnapping was described as of slender build, with brown hair and eyes, and dark complexion. He was wearing tan-colored linen shorts, purple shirt, and brown shoes and stockings.
Dr. Esposito, the boy's father. is reported to be at present in Honolulu. His wife, formerly Miss Violet Bunnell of Ottawa, came here with two of her children, Joseph and a small girl, to stay with her mother, Mrs. Beryl Bunnell, at 618 Cooper street. They have been here nearly a month. I and the missing boy had already made many friends in Ottawa.
Dr. and Mrs. Esposito have one other child, a son, Vincent. He was left in New Haven, Conn., although it was understood by his mother when she last saw him that he would at- tend a Y.M.C.A. camp near his native city this Summer.
Mrs. Esposito was at point of collapse a short time after the affair. when her son was missed, and enquiry revealed he had been carried off in a United States automobile. She was unable to assist police with information which might aid them to locate the child. Her sisters here, however, told the story of the affair last night, after an alarm had been spread over a wide area.
Sent to Store. Little Joseph Esposito had been sent by the family to the general store of Moses Segel, 296 Bay street, where the Bunnell family is well-known. The store is located at Bay and Lisgar streets. He arrived at the store and asked for two pounds of sugar. While the package was being made up for him, he went out of the store, spoke to a foreign-looking young man on the sidewalk, and in a few minutes entered a waiting automobile and was whisked away down Nepean street.
The child left behind him, on the sidewalk in front of Mr. Segel's store, the tricycle on which he had peddled over from his relatives' home on Cooper street.
The kidnapping happened at 7.15 o'clock. and the child was missed in a short time when he failed to return. to 618 Cooper street with the sugar. Police, notified of the affair, made a rapid survey of the district and learned from Stanley Fields, a little boy living at 571 Somerset street west, what had happened to the child.
Mrs. Moses Segel, who had served the child last evening. told The Journal shortly afterwards that he had vanished in the few minutes it took her to go into the rear of her store. and fill a bag with the sugar he ordered for his aunt.
Stanley Fields, who saw what happened to the child, declared to The Journal and police that the automobile which carried him away bore a foreign license plate. This was later proven to be a blue number disc of Connecticut registry.
The boy said that the automobile had stopped across the road from the Segel store while the Esposito child was inside. A young man, who had been sitting beside the driver, crossed the road and spoke to Joseph Esposito. They stood on the sidewalk together. then they both began to laugh, and the child ran towards the car with the young man after him. They both entered the car, and the driver turned in the direction of Nepean street. The automobile was soon out of sight.
Seemed to Know Him. Stanley Fields believed the youth who spoke to the boy was about 20 years old, and it seemed that the child knew him. The Ottawa boy was unable to assist the police materially with a description of the kidnappers' car or the men themselves. The car was described as a brown-colored coupe.
When notified of the affair, police at once set to work to trace the missing child. Detectives John Ritchie, Ubald Sauve and Albert Ouimet were at once assigned to the case. and they caused the missing boy's description to be broadcast and other agencies to be notified.

Lo-Fi Beats to Polish Orbs to
Image description: Two pixel art animations of Grovyle from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. The first shows a dimly lit room with rain falling outside, while Grovyle sits next to a tree stump, slowly polishing an orb by lantern light. A Totodile sleeps in a bed of hay, and a Cubone is staring into the dark forest outside the window.
The second animation is a close-up of the same Grovyle, polishing the orb with a contemplative expression in a shot that parallels the Lo-Fi Girl, occasionally stopping to get a better look at the progress.

I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.
