masterlist | requests are OPEN!
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
He knows his size. That’s all I’m gonna say. Takes care of you real good, massages you if you feel sore.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
He likes his hands, especially his fingers. Also knows exactly what his ringed hands do to you, and uses it to his full advantage.
Loves your ass. Corlys is definitely into spanking, and it shows.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
All this talk of legacy makes me 100% sure that he always cums inside.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Wants to fuck you on every centimeter of Driftmark, and then some.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
He’s seen the world, of course he’s experienced (also he’s a dilf so…)
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
It’s a tie between anal and doggy. He really does love your ass, and anal is a way to be super super close to you. Doggy is just for the view tbh.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
He’s a serious person, and that translates into the bedroom.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
Definitely has a manscaping kit from Lys.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
I think he’d be surprisingly romantic and gentle with you, but then he notices the size difference between your head and his hands and…
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
While he’s away, he does it to relieve himself, but he doesn’t need that when you’re there.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Size kink, breeding kink, bondage and dom/sub dynamics
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Anywhere really, as long as it’s not public
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
A display of power from you gets him a little bit excited tbh. It’s more pride than anything, but he still finds it hot.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Share you. You’re his, and it should stay that way. Also, he wouldn’t enjoy subbing or being tied up, but he loves it on you.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
Prefers giving, like the man he is. He’s also disgustingly good at it.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Look at him. He does whatever gets your brain mushy.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Seldom, if there’s been a long time period without seeing each other.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
As long as the risks aren’t any of his No’s he’s okay with experimenting (on you)
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
Lasts forever. He needs a little rebound time, but he could go at it all night.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
He’s traveled the world, so I’d assume he’s brought some stuff back.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Loves to tease you. As said, he wants you to be a little cockdumb. Especially if you’re very powerful normally, there’s something about you being a babbling mess for him that just gets him going
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Silent and deadly
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Brings you lingerie from Lys and Myr to tear it apart
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
He knows his size, and his size is big :)
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Pretty high I’d say. He needs it, especially if he’s had a long day.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
He takes care of you for a while, but as soon as you’re cuddling together, he’s gone

Analysis on how Daenerys is the antithesis of Old Valyria, which somehow leads to the conclusion that her death is the rightful ending because it'll signify the "true end" of Valyria, is odd for two main reasons:
House Targaryen aren't the only ethnic Valyrians left in the world. In Westeros there is still House Velaryon and House Celtigar. In Essos there are countless ethnic Valyrians, a diaspora spread across Lys, Volantis, Myr, Tyrosh, Pentos, Qohor, and Lorath. Volantis fashions itself as the inheritor of the Valyrian legacy. And even if Dany defeats the Old Blood of Volantis (which I believe she will), ethnic Valyrians aren't going to drop dead just because Dany dies. (Whether the idea that all Valyrians should die is truly progressive is a question I leave up to fans––personally, I think GRRM depicts the Westerosi murdering Rego Draz after blaming him for the spread of The Shivers, during Jaehaerys I's reign, and the Westerosi alienating Larra Rogare of Lys, prompting her to leave her husband and children, as bad things––but even logistically and practically speaking, Dany is not the "last Valyrian.")
What is a "progressive" culture in Westeros? Braavos, a capitalist city, seems to be the only place that fits the ASOIAF fandom's standards of progressiveness. I suppose Dorne does too, if fans steadfastly ignore all the ways George problematizes that (which fans tend to, at least on here). Most, if not all, the cultures and ethnic groups depicted in Planetos have perpetuated a combination of slavery, conquest, genocide, mass murder, wars for dominion over the land, feudal casteism, exploitation of the commoners, and of course, patriarchy. Can fans even identify concrete "progressive" traits of the different Westerosi regions, from the North to the Iron Islands to the Westerlands to the Stormlands to the Riverlands to the Crownlands to the Vale? If the idea is that Daenerys has to die to put a rest to the oppression of Valyrian culture, which cultures are left that inherit a progressive mantle?
Again I don't have a grand conclusion to this post. Consider these as questions to ponder over.

Do you think Robert Baratheon was actually haunted by the memory of Elia’s children in the Lannister red cloaks, in the same way Ned Stark and Thoros of Myr were?
"I see no babes, only dragonspawn" sounds like a pretty firm no, which is important for a whole host of reasons. One, it further complicates the legacy of Robert's Rebellion, which would be pretty cut-and-dry were it not for Tywin's involvement. Two, it shows us one of the important ways Ned differs from Robert, thereby setting up a number of Ned's actions later in the book (resigning the Handship in protest, warning Cersei to flee, making a false confession, etc.). Three, it shows us that Robert is neither The Good King nor The Caligula but something closer to real life, which can also be seen in how the aforementioned quote contrasts with what Tywin says in Tyrion VI of ASOS ("And Robert's relief was palpable. As stupid as he was, even he knew that Rhaegar's children had to die if his throne was ever to be secure. Yet he saw himself as a hero, and heroes do not kill children.") as well as what Robert himself says on his deathbed in Eddard XIII of AGOT ("The girl. Daenerys. Only a child, you were right … that's why, the girl … the gods sent the boar … sent to punish me …").
Thanks for the question, anon

some notes on my newly minted a/soiaf au, mostly for my own reference
Lord Rafael de Sevilla is a warlord of Braavos who commands a respectable fleet of ships and pays allegiance to the Sealord. He himself commands a large, 2-deck dromond as flagship named The Talion, which formerly belonged to the royal fleet at Dragonstone as (under the name Sea Falcon) but was abandoned in the stepstones with her entire crew lost to the butterfly fever. she still bears Targaryen colors, with a dark hull and sails dyed red rather than the traditional Braavosi purple –– as such, she can occasionally be mistaken for a royal Westerosi ship. Esmeralda remains with Rafael almost constantly, and serves as an officer on The Talion when at sea. Rafael's right hand is a Tyroshi lieutenant by the name of Luis Montoya, who has died the tips of his mustache and beard maroon.
The Sevillas have a legacy as an ancient family of Myr, having built their wealth through trade, particularly in lace, fire wine, and fruit. Unlike much of Myr, the family did not utilize enslaved or Unsullied labor, which attracted attention from freemen and fostered rebellions among other enslaved populations in Myr. Although Rafael did not campaign for the end of slavery personally, considering such revolutionary sentiment as a threat to his own power, the lord's influence, along with the richness of their holdings, threatened the rule of the magisters. When Gabriel chose a formerly enslaved Naathi bride, Zephyranthe, and named his daughter his heir, the magisters were incited to turn against Rafael (though unwilling to dirty their own hands) Hired sellswords killed Gabriel and Zephyranthe, and razed their home and set fire to Rafael's fleet, of which only one ship survived. Rafael escaped with Esmeralda, only a child, and her Naathi nurse, on this ship and fled to Braavos.
The Sevilla family have worshiped R'hllor for generations, Esmeralda included. After the fire, from which they were both reborn, their faith grows ever-stronger: Don Rafael believes that Esmeralda's unlikely survival marks her as uniquely protected by the Lord of Light, and sends her to study in Volantis as a ward where she becomes practiced in the arts of the faith. But she rejects the prospect of giving herself over entirely to the Temple and flees to Braavos to find freedom with her grandfather as a teen. Having since grown to adulthood in Braavos she also acknowledges deities such as The Merling King, The Moon-Pale Maiden, and the love goddess of Lys, although they rank far below the Red God. she tends to believe in their suspicions, rather than dutiful practice.
While in Braavos, Esmeralda trained extensively in the water dance style of swordfighting, and became a better swordsman than even her grandfather (who was schooled in a heavy-handed, old-school warrior style of combat, as opposed to the deadly elegance of Braavosi dueling). though she is not technically a bravo (as Lord Rafael cherishes her much too closely to let her be so reckless in silly fights) she adopts many of their attitudes, including their sense of style. Esmeralda tends to either dress traditionally, in the style of a Myrish lady, or crossdressing as a swaggering bravo with sword on her hip. she has a Volantene flame of R'hllor tattooed on her hip, in commemoration of her faith as well as the slaughter that lead to her true birth.
Politically, the pair of them seek to enact revenge on the magisters and their abetters, within Myr and the other Free Cities. Lord Rafael is very careful to maneuver through channels of power and to leave the chosen target vulnerable before any physical violence is enacted; Esmeralda tends to err on the side of bodily impulse, whether that be violence or seduction to achieve what she wants. Rafael also wants to see Esmeralda restored to the proper status owed to her, and aims to marry her well, which is easier achieved as they grow more successful, restore their wealth, and ruin their opponents in Myr, but occasionally threatened by their forays into less-legitimate violence and piracy. Esmeralda has less ambitious goals in that regard, and would much prefer to find love than power in her own hand. but she serves first and foremost her loyalty to Lord Rafael, and though occasionally rebellious, opposes him openly on very little, including marriage schemes.
She's distantly related to Bellegere Otherys through her mother: among the few memories Esmeralda has of her are hearing her stories of the pirate queen.

I Don’t Need Another Legacy. I Don’t Need Another Legacy. I Don’t Need...
*sigh*
Tumblr media
Green Legacy (Left to Right) • Chria Malcar / Bounty Hunter / Cyborg • Neemah Rath / Sith Warrior / Pureblood • Grott'hu / Sith Inquisitor / Rattataki • Kayeh Antilles * / Jedi Knight / Human • Cennesh Myr / Smuggler / Mirialan • Korno'lone'deamizu / Imperial Agent / Chiss • Vaykyar Tey / Jedi Consular / Togruta • Rebib / Trooper / Togruta
I called it the Green Legacy because Kayeh - my eventual Outlander - was a Green Jedi on Corellia before she was sent to Tython. (She was basically an exchange student.) And several of the others claim Corellia as their homeworld. Neemah, Vaykar and Rebib are all borrowed from other legacies while Chria is a non-OC character in my Adas Legacy, serving as Taeree’s bodyguard. More on her later.
People think i’m joking about character creation addiction...

‘like if brienne is a targ... then what what am i supposed to make of that’ that’s a big ass mood. I want to know more about Brienne’s lineage and Tarth because I love her but at this point, what impact does having Targ blood have on her story? Dunk is connected to the Targs yet I feel like Brienne’s connection has been so heavily focused on Dunk and not so much any other person…
….Maybe you could say the Dragon Knight? I feel like her being related to a Baratheon a generation before the Targ intermarriage (since they’re dying out), an Arryn or a Royce (since she is potentially headed to the Vale), a Reyne (original BatB echoes, Shakespearean tropes, blowing holes in Tywin’s legacy and his greatest accomplishment), or the Darklyn (we hear about the Defiance in a Brienne chapter & the scapegoating of Serala of Myr arguably parallels the BwB saying Brienne’s a traitor thanks to her association with Jaime. And Jaime in turn had nothing to do with the plotting of the Red Wedding, which makes the parallel even more ironic. Having her related to one of those families would have more clear cut consequences to the pieces of her story we have been given so far or at least have more explicit foreshadowing in the case of the Darklyns.
I think these are cool ideas! it would be interesting to see GRRM explore any one of them on the page. the thing is, it now feels a bit late for me: if any aspect of Brienne's lineage were to be significant in any coming chapter, I'd have wanted it to be hinted at, and given meaning, before this point. if it comes up for the first time in TWOW it just feels very retcon-y.
I love that she and Dunk are related because the parallels between them are so clear, their stories nod at one another's, and we have neat little easter eggs hinting at it. meanwhile, the (potential) Targ ancestry only comes up in TWOIAF, it lends no apparent weight to Brienne's character, motivations, beliefs, anything, it's just 'ooh maybe Brienne has dragon blood' and as someone who's just not all that wowed by House Targ and it's mythos... I'm like okay so???
like I'd be super excited to read about the houses and politics making up Brienne's line, what interesting individuals are in there etc. I think the thing I resent with the 'secret Targ' stuff is that I'm supposed to buy that it's ✨special blood✨ from the ✨special house✨ and having it makes characters ✨specialer✨. which I just don't vibe with lol, it seems reductive as hell, to both Targs themselves and the rest of the cast alike

Two Dragons, Reunited
A starter for: @i-will-break-the-wheel
The Golden Company had marched out, abandoning their contract with the city of Myr in hopes for the prospect of something they all desired: returning to Westeros. Even if the company was comprised of men from a thousand nations and speaking tens of thousands of tongues, the majority of them were still exiles from the continent of Westeros. Darrys, Peakes, and Strongs, Coles and Conningtons, the Company accepted all who were not welcome in their home. Being founded by Blackfyres and Bittersteel, how could one turn away another exile? They were an army of disciplined, battle hardened soldiers, perhaps some of the best warriors in the world with a fearsome reputation to boot. There were twenty thousand of them now, with a thousand knights and a thousand squires among them, all with a sworn allegiance to a single man.
That man was Aegon Targaryen, Sixth of his name, the King Uncrowned and rightful heir to the Iron Throne. The man, barely old enough to be called one, had been living in Essos amongst a plethora of teachers, advisors, and soldiers all instructing him in their ways. He himself knew nearly seven tongues, being fluent in the common tongue of his guardian, Jon Connington, High Valyrian, and five of its dialects. He knew mathematics, geometry, songs, history, law, argumentation, a number of fields to produce a well rounded and educated man. He could wield a sword in the same manner as Jon Connington, still learning all the intricacies of a blade and its forms, though he was a quick learner.
The most important piece in his education was not his ability to interpret law or swing a sword, but his relations to the common people around him. He learned how to mend nets and swim with fishermen, of how they starved without proper protection from a lord. He helped till the fields and reap the harvest outside of Pentos, mend sails and tie knots aboard ships in Lys. The boy knew what it was like to live in fear, to understand what it was to feel as though he was hunted by his enemies around every corner, to sleep dreading the fear of death at the hands of his enemies, with so much left to accomplish. His experiences amongst the poor, the wandering vagabonds, the common man have shaped him away from being the entitled prince he heard his uncle Viserys had been, instead to be a prince of the people.
He had showed such promise in the words he spoke to the Golden Company, offering those among them who were exiled and tossed out of their homes the chance to reclaim their honor and homeland. The officers and captains agreed to follow him, swearing allegiance to him not as Young Griff, but proclaiming him King Aegon VI. He knew he had finally begun the first step to reclaiming his rightful place, destined to help protect the people his grandfather had neglected, those who bent under the boots of men like Robert Baratheon and Tywin Lannister. He had ordered them to march east, towards Slaver’s Bay, to treat with his Aunt. They were the only two Targaryens left alive in the world. The two of them could easily combine their forces once they finally met. They had heard she had taken the unsullied from Astapor and given them freedom, so they sailed there first.
Tumblr media
The sounds of the sea still roared in Aegon’s mind. The journey had lasted months, from gathering every man to flock under his banner, to securing payment, supplies, and weapons needed to undertake the conquest he had in mind would be monumental. In his mind, there would be no doubt he would sit upon the throne destined for his father, forged in the fires of his ancestors, as the usurpers bodies lay crumpled beneath his feet. Lannister, Baratheon, Stark, Tully, Arryn. It made no difference. Lion, Stag, Wolf, Fish or Hawk, all fear and despair when a dragon opens its wings and breathes its flame. He would bring Westeros back under his dynasty’s control, subduing the seven kingdoms through diplomacy and force, though mercy and ruthlessness. He would reforge the realm into his own image, and destroy the old families who had brought his dynasty to nothing but dust. Like the Phoenix of legend, he would rise from the ashes of his family’s legacy, and bring about a restored era of the Seven Kingdoms. The Dragons would rule the Red Keep once more, and their home will be returned to them.
Once they had arrived at Astapor, they sailed further north, hearing that she had continued her campaign to liberate all of Slaver’s bay. They began to sail north, eventually leaving their ships behind when they arrived near Mereen, Landing twenty miles south of the city, as the fleet might not be welcomed in the bay. There, they found a natural harbor able to accommodate their fleet, disembarking within hours and marching northward the next morning. They arrived in formation outside the city gates as the sun was still high in the sky.
Tumblr media
As they arrived, Aegon ordered the army to halt outside of the range of any archer or siege equipment, as he strode forward on his horse. Along with him was Rolly Duckfield, his personal bodyguard and friend, as well as Lord Jon Connington, who served as his hand. Lord Jon, who remained on his left, wore his steel armor, uncolored with a tabard displaying his family’s sigil covering his chest, carried a white banner, intent on calling for a civil discussion. Ser Rolly, wearing a suit of armor more fitting a sellsword, carried the spear which marked the Golden Company, resplendent with the gilded skulls of every commander the company had, now bearing the flag of House Targaryen on its shaft.
Aegon instructed his horse to trot slightly forward, his white blonde hair fully cleansed of the blue dye that once colored it, his purple eyes revealed for their true color instead of disguised. He wore a gilded breastplate to cover his chest, with most of his body similarly covered by a mix of plate and scales, giving him flexibility and protection from all manner of blows. Upon his back he wore a black silk cloak with a red underlay, matching the black ringmail he wore underneath his armored plates. He called out to the men who guarded the gates, noticing the Targaryen banners flying atop the city’s towers. His voice carried through the otherwise empty field.
“I am Aegon, Son of Prince Rhaegar, of the House Targaryen! I wish to treat with my Aunt, Queen Daenerys, and enter the city.”
The man remained seated upon his white horse, a stallion bred for war, as he awaited the response from the guardsmen.

The Survivors of Past Wars: Part 1
I decided to explore the different stories of all the major characters that have made it to the end of the second episode of the last season. That way, we can better understand and appreciate the narrative and consider what their futures might be.
Tumblr media
Beric Dondarrion
The Lord of Blackhaven, a vassal to the Baratheons of Storm’s End. Also a knight, he joined numerous military campaigns before the show and participated in tourneys. He was eager to enact justice against the Mountain for his crimes when asked to be Ned in Season 1, but he ultimately lost his life in the process.
Thoros of Myr revived him through the Lord of Light, but this ritual was not one which had ever been successful before. He converted to this new religion because of his experience and then led the Brotherhood of Banners to deal guerilla justice against those who pillaged the Riverlands, but died many times. He loses a bit of himself each time, and the brutality and loose morality of the group did not go unnoted by those who encountered them.
Beric is an honorable man who has been broken by resurrection. As Thoros of Myr can no longer revive him, his next death is to be his final one. In all likelihood, he was revived by the Lord of Light because of his Ned-like background and bravery. His loss of self allows him to act in ways no normal human being could.
It’s difficult to say what the extent of his purpose is in the war, though it does not appear incidental that he joined the cause to fight the undead. Perhaps since he had already died himself he cannot turn into a wight, giving him an unexpected advantage against the Night King.
This advantage is shared only by Jon Snow, who is foreshadowed as a possible slayer of the Night King. Beric may have served to promote the cause of the war and recruit, providing a vision of what the Lord of Light can do against the Great Other.
Part of that vision is helping the true hero of the story, Jon Snow, defeat the greatest evil of them all.
Unfortunately, this may require Beric to die so that Jon will understand the Night King cannot bring him back from the dead, giving him an advantage in a battle. Beric’s death is likely in the next episode in the Battle of Winterfell. His death may be the reason the allies are able to gain an advantage against the Night King because of Beric’s condition, forcing the Night King to retreat.
Beric is the light in the darkness. The hope for the end of the war.
Tumblr media
Yara Greyjoy
The only daughter of Balon Greyjoy, Yara was the presumed heir following the defeat of her people in a doomed rebellion. Her childhood was an unhappy one because of her hard father, but hard times make strong men - and in this case, a strong woman.
Despite Balon’s failings, he raised perhaps the best Ironborn in a generation, and the only Ironborn leader capable of bridging the divide between her culture and the rest of Westeros. Yet she hopes to do this not at the expense of her own people’s heritage, or in despite it, but because of it.
That’s a tall order because of the reaving nature of her people, and it will be a difficult trait to reconcile with her hope for a brighter future when it is clear this may be what is holding the Ironborn back.
That’s not to say she is an entirely moral individual in the eyes of the audiences, but she has shown a lot of pragmatism and love which seems bereft in her difficult culture. She risked her own future to save her brother, and while she ultimately failed, this may have helped Theon later on to rescue himself and Sansa Stark.
Although her uncle Euron would later steal the Iron Islands from her, she was able to take the best ships and secure an ally in Daenerys Targaryen. Because of this bold move, she was able to secure the nominal sovereignty of the Ironborn even without a marriage alliance or the promise of one through her heirs.
This will likely have an influence on the Iron Throne in the future: The Seven Kingdoms is an Empire of many nation-states, but that is forgotten under the guise of a single King or Queen historically.
But it’s not just Yara’s actions alone which signal a possible change in Westerosi government: the Ironborn, as hated as they are, have a system of government which Tyrion Lannister noted as being admirable. Any captain can put his (or her) name forward to be elected a lifetime appointment as the King of their people.
Yara lost her chance at the crown at the Kingsmoot, but her loss was what caused her to journey east and may have proven an inspiration as an answer to Daenerys’s heir problem.
Though beloved by many Ironborn because of her initially bright future and good decisions, Yara’s story is one primarily marked by failure. Her father’s inability to think pragmatically caused the Ironborn to lose two wars and any advantage they would have had at this point in the story. She willingly went along with his poor decision making out of loyalty and perhaps even love for the man who raised her.
Balon Greyjoy’s lack of strategy and callous nature led to the loss of Theon Greyjoy to Ramsay Bolton. Yara tried to save Ramsay, but was not effectively supported by her father and did not have the men to adequately attack the Dreadfort due to their losses in war.
Her loss at the Kingsmoot is likely due to her father as well, because Euron used the discord her father had caused from his failures to take the crown.
Euron had similar ideals as Yara in bringing the Ironborn to glory, so it is easy to imagine the same actions he took to attack her fleet is likely what she herself would have done, giving her an advantage in the war. She was taken hostage by Euron.
However, Yara’s brother Theon did save Yara from their uncle, proving that Yara’s good decisions in the past, and her love for her brother, might result in her survival in the long-term.
As she heads to the Iron Islands to take them back in Daenerys’s name, it’s easy to see that most of Yara’s decisions were good ones, but she was cursed by the poor leadership of her father. Whether or not Balon’s legacy haunts her rule is still a concern, but it’s not unreasonable to assume that Yara will survive until the end of the series.
She represents a positive future for her people, and her role in the wars of Westeros may prove to inspire the Iron Throne in a way never before considered. Her loyalty and love, both for her people and her allies, can only be described as heroic.
That’s a powerful legacy for a ship captain in a feudal society.
Tumblr media
Podrick Payne
A distant cousin to the Payne family of the Westerlands, Podrick is learning to be a squire under the honorable Brienne of Tarth. He is a good lad despite his questionable connections and has been fortunate to serve and study with characters while they were at their best, such as Tyrion and Brienne.
Though initially bumbling and at times a little too eager, his earnest nature endeared him to those who were close and allowed him to grow under their tutelage.
He has a bright future and a lot to learn, though there is something almost doomed about his path which suggests he won’t survive the war even though he may not deserve death.
Perhaps that is the tragedy of the war - good people die, and Podrick is likely to be one of him.
Despite his desire to grow strong and do good, his bravery does not always match his skill. This means he may go headlong into a dangerous situation and sacrifice himself for the sake of another person - perhaps someone dear to him.
Going into the Battle of Winterfell, it is easy to believe that he may sacrifice himself for Brienne or one of their allies. He would do this without hesitation, but I don’t think his death would just be a mark of heroism, but also a gift to the allies in helping make the future possible.
He is just a minor lad from a minor noble family. He may think his future is to be a knight, though Podrick may have nothing else to learn or live for in the narrative, because Podrick is a person who makes life worth living, and that means the best thing he can do is die so someone else may live.
That’s why it seems fitting for him to die for Brienne. Though his mentor is strong, she desires nothing more to serve, even though she has a father waiting for her return and an entire island who will one day need her leadership.
Podrick’s sacrifice may inspire Brienne to return to her family and continue the Tarth line. His legacy is the loyalty and love of life he inspires in others.

Grenzo, Dungeon Warden EDH
Tumblr media
Do you like big strange effects? Value? Explosive turns? Affordable decks? Do you enjoy having the people at your table read every other card you bring out? Then Grenzo, Dungeon Warden might just be the commander for you.
This deck sets out to abuse Grenzo’s ability to it’s fullest, generating threat-after-threat out of nowhere at the cost of being filled with... Unconventional cards.
What’s Grenzo’s Taste?
Grenzo’s a simple goblin. Pay him two mana, he tries to pull out some value. If the card is a non-creature, or has more than two power, all he wound up doing is a one-card self-mill. That’s not value. Chaos Warp, Damnation, Phyrexian Arena- Phyrexian Arena??? Grenzo makes the hand obsolete, card draw’s almost useless! All of these cards that are usually auto-included for their color are thrown out because Grenzo doesn’t think they’re good enough.
Want to know what Grenzo thinks value is? It ain’t pretty.
The Brute Squad
Some cards lie to Grenzo about their real power. Personally, I forgive them. These are cards that technically are below Grenzo’s power-check, but are actually just... Huge.
Tumblr media
There’s a certain point where a simple large body is good enough for EDH. Keeping in mind that Grenzo yanks them out for 2, a good starting point is a 6/6 with Flying. They aren’t flashy (aside from the fact that Grenzo runs them out at instant speed) but they’re threatening all the same.
Big names for this category also include Noosegraf Mob, Arcbound Overseer, and Pentavus.
Bring out the Dorks
Normal mana rocks are fine and dandy to draw, but they also represent dead Grenzo activations. Because of this, the deck’s ramp is going to be almost entirely in the form of mana dorks.
Tumblr media
All Grenzo costs you to use is mana. This sounds obvious, but it’s important to note how the hand has ceased to be a resource. Because mana dorks never really cost you a card to create, they’re fully replacing themselves. I can’t stress enough how strong mana acceleration is because of this.
Honestly? Run every mana-producing Myr. At that point Myr Galvanizeris even worth running. Seriously; Grenzo makes Myr Tribal work.
Other notable dorks include Workhorse, Crypt Ghast, and Priest of the Forgotten Gods.
Value Town
Of course, Grenzo’s not just about mana and meatheads. The deck’s also lives for high rolls. The sort of cards that were not meant to be 2-drops with flash, and it shows.
Tumblr media
I’d say about 80% of the time, Herald of Leshrac meets a kill spell in a turn cycle or two after coming down. That remaining 20% is a game that it he basically won by himself.
Other cards that can sink hearts as easily as Herald include Tree of Perdition and Master of Cruelties.
Bottoms-Up
In many cases, the bottom of the library feels like an afterthought of design. A place to tuck cards to be forgotten about until everything is shuffled. In our case, cards that treat this area so carelessly can turn our blind pulls into sure things.
Tumblr media
Howltooth Hollow is a bad Magic card. It’s an even worse EDH card. The Hideaway goal is basically impossible. However, the power behind stacking the next three Grenzo activations and burning an otherwise cumbersome land makes it entirely worth running. I- can I be blunt about how relevant manipulating the bottom of the library is? The deck runs Howltooth Hollow.
Other cards that stack the bottom of the library include Soldevi Digger, Clone Shell, and Brass Herald.
Wait... Non-creatures?
Dead Grenzo activations bite. However, there are cards that are strong enough that the power they bring when drawn outweighs how much of a dud they are when trashed by Grenzo.
Tumblr media
Insane acceleration like Heartstone and Carnival of Souls, combo pieces like Ashnod’s Altar and Soldevi Digger, and game-bending cards like Contamination are worth running- so long as they are ran in moderation.
Worth Keeping Around
Whether it’s a big threat being dealt with, or a high-value artifact winding up in the graveyard, there’s plenty of ways for this deck to dust those key cards off and send them back in for a second bout.
Tumblr media
There’s a wide selection of creatures with reanimation tied to them, but Myr Welder is one worth a special mention. If one of the few key non-creature artifacts winds up in the bin, Myr Welder (which Grenzo is able to bring around just fine) can let that artifact live on as an imprint.
Other worthwhile cards that can make the board nice and sticky include Balthor the Defiled, Whisper, and Shirei.
Dig Dug
There’s more than a few ways that the cards in this deck can slide together to form a win out of nowhere. The most obvious ways include Soldevi Digger.
Tumblr media
Soldevi Digger being in the deck is awkward, as it means you cannot legally move cards in the graveyard (hey there, Legacy Dredge players). There’s plenty of ways with other cards already mentioned for Grenzo can go infinite using Digger. A real basic one being Ashnod’s Altar and Murderous Redcap.
It’s not like taking the Digger out would entirely cut out the deck’s combo potential. To totally stop this deck from reaching any sort of infinite, a number of cards that are high-value worthy includes by themselves would need to be replaced. If your playgroup hates combos, this build won’t go over well.
Conclusion
Grenzo’s a funny commander. His ability is one of a kind. The interaction directly with the bottom of the library is an entirely unique use of the zone. He not only excuses playing otherwise unplayable cards- he can make them shine.
If anybody has a commander they’d want some kind of deck tech on, I’m open to suggestions.
