Day 328 Art Meditation

I really do love believing in something that has not been fully formed yet - my Heart-Art Bundles with other people. The union between two people in a Kindred-Spirit kind of way is always beautiful. This shouldn’t be left to just marriages, or friendships - and I love this idea I have to create a Kindred-Spirit space with my Heart-Art Bundles. 

Today my heart is so FULL, which isn’t because my life is perfect. I think it’s connected to the amazing volunteer experience I had this week. I spoke to an old gentleman and during the conversation he had difficulty speaking, and …. I have to say, as I experienced his struggle, my heart got bigger and more open. Day 207 Art Meditation, July 23, 2022

Posting a view of the ocean, which is one of the main reasons I live here. Ocean views and air are instantly good for my mental health and to my soul, which might very well be the same thing. I don't actually hang out at this Coast nearly enough, but it means the world to me that it’s right there.  

I am grateful for this weird new thing that I can do, which is be able to make time for my writing and art and take it more seriously than I ever have before. A minimum of 1 hour of writing and 1 hour of art every day. No more waiting for certain people to be more supportive of me. Or lamenting that I don't have that. 

I am grateful that my partner is 100% supportive of me but also not a beamer about it. When he is good and ready on his own time, he will tell me the supportive things I ‘need’ to hear from an external source. He is the best kind of support because he is one of the most logical, rightfully skeptical and practical people I know. So for G to be able to absorb my writing and art and say honest and real observations, is special and valuable. He is able to get his Heart lined up with mine. That’s an amazing curve … And it happens organically, not linearly … 

Shonda Rhimes is my inspiration and role model, but it’s a tricky one because Shonda Rhimes has always had the full support of her 4 older siblings, and, get this, parents who have always told her she can do anything. WHAT IS THAT? I don’t know what that is.This is exactly why I am so grateful that I am showing up for me more in increments every day. It would be very easy for me to fill my time with anything else …

A few years ago, my mother included in a birthday package for me a tiny notebook that said ‘Dream big’ on it. I was stunned. This is not Hunsicker-speak. I keep it in my top drawer so that I can read it often ... I am still amazed by the daring my mother had to send me a message that completely goes against the practical and logical thinking of our German and Swiss family heritage. Thank you Mom, for having a new layer of courage in your late 70’s … I promise I won’t tell anyone that you sent me this.
