Good Stim of the Day is: lowering a chain necklace into my hand and back up again, the cool metal and the way it folds is so stimmy!

Good Stim of the Day is: helping out at the museum again and there was an autistic girl who got happy flaps so I did too! I feel so lucky to volunteer somewhere so safe and welcoming of me!

Can I use the word "stim" if I am not autistic? I do this thing that fits the definition of a stim but I dont want to like, steal a term that isn't meant for me
idk how long ago this ask was sent, so sorry if this is hella old. but as for your question, i think yes! stim is short for 'self-stimulatory behavior," and is used within the neurodiverse community as a whole. even if you arent neurodiverse, i dont see the harm in using the term. if it helps you explain your actions to others, then its helpful to you. i find it similar to how non-neurodiverse people (aka people who dont fall under like-- the strictest definitions of nd) will often use fidget toys and find them helpful, even though they werent necessarily designed for them. if you arent using them in a destructive manner (making cruel jokes, causing distractions, etc), i see no difference from you and an autistic person doing the same.
hope this helps, and again, sorry if this is a very late reply^^
