I SWEARRRRRR im not trying to be one of those “gotcha!” anons but i keep seeing sm ppl posting abt pop culture / counter culture being dead, and a lot of it in relation to renaissance and i’m just confused by it 😭😭 i’m not even a kpop listener i just think u put these things eloquently

i love asks like this bc my initial reaction before and after i realized this is a genuine question was night n day.

anyways the kardashians were a very very calculated rise to fame at any cost nd were maybe the first people to be on reality tv and skyrocket into mainstream fame (unfortunately) and kim's obsession w stealing everything from black people and marketing it out spearheaded the generic insta baddie aesthetic which is responsible for at least half of the desctruction of unique pop culture. if you look at the 2000s the shit was weird but it was unique. go back even further and the shit club kids were doing influenced fashion EVERYWHERE now everyone is passing around the same name brand outfits, everyone's going to the same surgeon to get their unique features changed into the same racially ambiguous lewk, you don't need talent, you don't need charisma you just need to look like you have money and therefore you deserve fans that will die to be scammed by you.

so the kardashians put pop culture on the slaughtering board right? and then here bts comes. also just copying what black ppl do 1 to 1 until they blow up internationally and start producing some of the most generic western bait pop to be palatable enough to all the white children of the world and their token black friends. but this generic music is taking over the world. the hype isn't in the content but its in the numbers. their fans begin to become obsessed with streaming numbers, video views, breaking records etc. the music is irrelevant. its all about the numbers and being on as many unskippable ads as possible. so now the industry follows behind the biggest (and worst) fandom of all time and award shows, journalists, online content curators who could be informing pop culture accurately are just saying whatever these people want to hear. giving accolades to soulless 'hits' bc they want to avoid death threats or just get a cut of the zombie streaming pie. good pop culture is DEAD. if it werent for the few big black girlies in the industry like beyonce who can do whatever we'd be in hell! no one can sing cuz theyre getting ribs removed to fit into corsets and no one is dancing bc the rented mugler bodysuit has to be returned with no damage and it's all just very very generic.

ofc there are rare interesting performers that pop up but bc they dont fit into the mold they get bullied out like poor mitski wants to be an actual artist nd they hate her for it. anyways kris jenner is going to hell for the evil she's brought into the world

Since I’m putting less pressure on myself to only post finished artwork, here’s my Nathalie/Mayura refresh WIPs

I started these a while ago and they’ve just been sitting there ever since.

I didn’t feel like Nathalie needed to change that much, I’m pretty satisfied with her look. Only change is her hair is less flat on her skull.

I had a lot of fun re-imagining Mayura. Drawing a lot of inspiration from Mugler to make her a striking baddie. Also how petty of her to be inspired by a different designer than Gabe. (Note: Nathalie hates Gabriel in this version. She works for him because she has no choice (black-mail + good pay) but she’s not happy with the situation. There is NO GabeNath in this reboot, no sir!)

And Mariposa, Nathalie’s old Miraculous back when she was a superhero (!!!), but shhh that’s a secret. Don’t tell anyone. She’s a lot more bug-like than other butterfly holders, to match her partner. Just piled on the Mugler for this one too. I highly recommend checking his work out, it is STUNNING. It’s THE bad bitch collection. (Also I just noticed I forgot to add the butterfly brooch SHIT)

I know that both my Mayura and Mariposa designs kinda go against my attempt to keep the colour palettes limited. But they’re fabulous so I don’t care.

the way i smiled so big when i googled her and the first result was her entry on the villains wiki 😭 i already knew she was a baddie from your posts but LET'S GOOO

i'm definitely thinking something slightly green and slightly citrusy, that packs a punch, with some decadent notes thrown in there. i'm trying to encompass her extraverted front and love of botany and the evil girlie inside 🥰 that's so cool of you. i know y'all have to be very happy together!

i am going with aura by thierry mugler! (though nowadays it's just "mugler") this scent is known to be polarizing and "weird" like the other mugler scents. it's very green but also warm and bold from the vanilla and woodsy notes

top notes: rhubarb leaf, bergamot

middle notes: green notes, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, pear

base notes: bourbon vanilla, woody notes, amberwood, sandalwood, coumarin (which is like a herbal-nutty note)

oh, i have a lot! lately i've been really enjoying sultry virgin and ozlana lol, i can see jennie wearring some of the looks and i want them too T_T vintage chanel has my heart and i also really enjoy some of mugler looks:)

as for the makeup, i really like how it is right now: i was a teenager when "instagram baddie" makeup was trendy so in my opinion, it's amazing to live in a time when we appreciate more colours and creativity! as for my usual make up look, i really love to use blush and sparkly eyeshadow, glossy lips and just a nice dewy base. i also like to experiment with colors when i'm in the mood <3

as for my personal style, i gravitate between a girlboss who wears oversized blazers and platform shoes and some more feminine, coquette style, i almost always wear some kind of a bow on my head and big shoes, love that, since i'm kinda smol:D i really like preppy girly outfits (as i said, i love vintage chanel), but that strong woman in a good black suit is my comfort outfit anytime i wanna feel powerful and comfy:)

i'm a bit of a perfume hoarder but lately my favourite has been nobile 1942 “la danza delle libellule”. absolutely lovely! as for more popular ones, i really like good girl by carolina herrera, hayati by attar, tobacco vanille by tom ford and intense cafe by montale. i love my gourmands and anything with coffee!

i'd love to own my own house. that is my ultimate dream, i'd feel grounded, safe and just finally achieved what i wanted.:D i'd love to own some designer pieces too but that's not a priority rn. hope you got to know me a bit better and i'm sorry for such a late response, life happened! <3

Do u know a perfume that would make me feel like a witch who lives alone in the forest and is friends with animals. Like she has a garden with nice flowers and magic herbs and vegetables

lombre dans leau by diptyque is a classic it’s from like the 80s but doesn’t smell dated this is like a glamorous green perfume. it’s like the same scent as their very popular baies candle 🕯 when i first got into perfumes i found i gravitated more to scents that triggered memories or smelled more hyper realistic rather than perfume-y and when i smelled this i was taken back to growing tomatoes as a child. that bitter green scent of tomato plants but with the other notes it yes feels glamorous but kind of melancholic as i find many bitter green scents do.. i think this is an incredible option for people who want something summery but can’t with citruses and florals and aquatics and all those typical girlish or sweet summer perfumes.. this leans unisex and smells ancient in a timeless way very poetic..

this cdg perfume radish x vetiver is really good for the people who don’t really like things that smell complex or perfume-y bc it’s very modern and straight forward and smells like u were in the garden playing in the dirt and cutting stems and stuff and then go wash ur hands off with the hose.. and the smell of the dirt and vegetal greenness comes up to ur nose. very realistic and straight forward

this is the last green one and it slays bc it’s so affordable and gets u the same bitter green if u wanna try it for cheap. it’s a green chypre and the whole thing that makes a chypre a chypre is a specific note structure that is meant to synthesize the smell of the forest and the moss and the dirt and the trees and the plants etc. this smells like ur on the edge of a clearing at the forests edge and it’s overcast and windy and ur a witch taking in the elements. very refreshing in a bitter green way

next i thought patchouli obvi so if u at all like patchouli i think tempo would give an incredible nice forest witch vibe it’s a patchouli i find very easy to wear it doesn’t go too far in the dirt it’s nice and balanced

then this one is a whole other vibe it’s much more mystical magical it smells like yes meeting a mystical woodland creature at golden hour in the autumn and the creature gives off this otherworldly intoxicating scent of like some golden honeyed herb that doesn’t exist in our realm.. smells like a very ancient apothecary tonic or something like yes like the stuff diptyque and santa maria novella put out thats like “based on a 1403 tonic to ward against evil spirits and smallpox”

then i had fun and chose some for her daughter

if her daughter was a monster high doll she could wear this .. this gives me big fairy fashion tumblr girl energy it’s violet leaf which the best comparison i can give to what that smells like is the most beauotful juicy japanese airbrush illustration of a green melon. like but much better smelling than a melon but that kind of scent profile. so she��s a fairy that smells like that and she’s wearing her little leather bustier and her tiered pleated bark and tobacco blossom skirt and her platforms idk where she got those but she’s slaying she’s a lolita lempicka girl.

if she’s a baddie lol surprise doll she can wear this it’s like grass mixed with melted vanilla ice cream it’s my least fave of the muglers but i know it’s very popular rn the girls love it
