Revisited my Queen Moorhen design!! Was feeling inspired after doing Gill (I don't think I'm gonna give every headshot design I've done a fullbody, buuuut I'm thinking about a few 👀).
I combined jewelry from her canon and popular fanon designs! Because I really like all of these looks. I don't think she's the type to wear a ton of jewelry/impractical accessories.
I've seen a lot of headcanons about MudWing sibs painting each other's wings, so I also worked that into my design! I think it would be kind of cool if MudWing sibs had some kind of emblem or family crest and maybe depicted it on their wings. I gave Moorhen roots because I thought it'd be fitting for her position as a queen (she keeps her tribe rooted... or helps them flourish... or something... idk symbolism). Will I keep this HC going in my MudWing designs? Uhhh... 🤷
With Battlewinner frozen over, I HC that Moorhen is now the largest modern Pyrrhian queen. So I made her veeeery beefy. (My queen height HCs go something like Battlewinner > Sequoia > Moorhen > Glacier > Wasp > Coral > Jewel > Ruby > Thorn > Scarlet > Snowfall > Glory btw.)

whats ur opinion on dragons having different houses bc of class or tribe? i love dragon architecture </3
I'm such a fan of dragon architecture oh my god. One of my biggest worldbuilding gripes (besides the lack of clarity around food/cooking) is that the actual housing arrangements of the dragons are so vague????? Like towns are a thing but also Tui seems to imply most dragons sleep in caves even though it makes no sense for any of the other tribes???? like ma'am most of your dragons live in swamps, jungles, or deserts where the hell are they even finding them
Basically, we have functionally no point of reference for anyone who isn't royalty (Winter, Turtle) or grew up in such specific circumstances that don't reflect back onto broader dragon society to the point where their input is rather moot (Moon, the DoD, Peril, Qibli). Qibli is the closest thing we have but the Scorpion Den is a combination of a shanty town and refugee camp that makes it harder to draw conclusions for the rest of the population. (We're also not counting Darkstalker bc. well. 2000 years)
For my writing, my stance is usually that dragons are primarily nomadic. Dragons who live in/around towns stay there primarily for reasons like child-raising, business, injury, apprenticeships, or just laying low/blending into a crowd. Like with how dragons don't need to cook their food to eat it, dragons are not dependent on housing and are able to comfortably sleep and live outside (barring extremes such as the central desert or really the entire Ice Kingdom). So, the exact permanence of a dragon's stay in town is situational and tribe/job-dependent more than anything else.
As far as the tribes go, Icewings and Nightwings are the most home/town oriented tribes- both tribes have the rarest approach to housing in that almost all members of both tribes live and sleep primarily in one home location that they return to for the majority of their life. For Icewings, this usually looks like multi-generational families that split off into new homes/houses only once there's a real need for it. On the other hand, Nightwings living on the volcano lived primarily together in caves/dormitories divided by age- even though this no longer exists, most Nightwing towns and houses involve many shared buildings and resemble something more like tight clumps of houses or caves.
For the majority of the tribes (Skywings, Sandwings, Mudwings, Rainwings), most dragons will have multiple houses that they move between as needed or wanted. While outliers exist, most dragons have at minimum two homes/dens: one in a more populated area that might operate as a job homebase or a place to receive guests, and a more isolated, private home that exists for the dragon in question to stash any items of importance or valuables, as well as eat and sleep. For more nomadic dragons, banks exist in towns to hold treasure, freeing up their secondary/non-work den to be little more than a shack or burrow with sleeping arrangements. More houses usually equals more money/class power, up to a certain point, where you start to see buildings more akin to Vulture's mansion or even the Royal Palaces, where one building or collection of buildings is large/grandiose enough to host other people's jobs and living spaces (on a related note, gardening is a very stereotypical high class hobby to have, as it shows both an abundance of leisure time and of space).
Between these tribes, Skywings are the most town and home oriented- Skywings often live primarily in towns and only leave for what is essentially a nesting den, as without rudimentary flight skills, Skywing towns are borderline unnavigable and occasionally hazardous for dragonets. Even with their relative isolation, nesting dens in the past have often been located near other nesting dens, creating something of a nesting village for Skywings parents to socialize and raise their hatchlings. Queen Scarlet's reign did irreparable damage to this style of collective child-rearing and nesting dens as a whole. With her breeding programs, most Skywings were forced into partnerships for the sole reason of producing more future Skywing soldiers, and the majority of eggs were instead stored in mass hatcheries until their hatching day.
On the other hand, Mudwings are the most isolated and nomadic, in part due to the structure of sib groups creating a situation where most Mudwings hatch into life with a social network already established. The Mud Kingdom is also temperate enough that housing isn't always necessary, and most Mudwings only congregate in towns for business or seeking a mate.
Finally, Seawings are almost entirely nomadic, and will usually move between a territory, with small dens and hoards scattered within. These territories can hold many multiple families, or they can exist for a single dragon- Seawing property laws are almost nonexistent and mostly maintained by honor and frequent patrolling of the territory to maintain order and mark it as lived space. These territories aren't uninhabited land either- Seawings will grow seaweed and herd schools of fish on their territory, and many take a certain landscaper-esque role, shaping the terrain into something aesthetically pleasing or useful to the inhabitant and helping signal to other Seawings that the land is occupied. One of the few times Seawings will settle in one den or space is for a hatching den- this lasts from the laying of the eggs until the hatchlings become able to swim well enough to keep up with their parents.
I've been pretty burnt out on WOF writing for a while, but this was honestly a refreshing change of pace from what I've been working on recently. Thanks for giving me an excuse to ramble about dragon housing !! I'd love to hear what other ppl think, the more headcanons the merrier :>

If I were to make a Wings of Fire game, which tribe would you want to see first?
As I'm starting on the game tomorrow, unfortunately I must make the timeline simply one day, I do apologize but it must be done.

Pyrrhian Aerial Sports- Wings of Fire
While all tribes have their own aerial drills for fighting, aerial sports are a fantastic idea and I’m already jealous of dragons for having wings
SkyWings
- As a tribe that treasures flying, SkyWings have one of the longest documented histories of aerial sports
- SkyWings dominate both long distance flights + racing
- SkyWings also have an aerial ball game that prizes speed, stamina, and dexterity. The Colosseum was a popular place to hold such games before Queen Scarlet held only gladiator matches there. P.S. SkyWing teams had mascots and team chants and everything. It’s taken pretty seriously.
 Rules:
1. No player can hold onto the ball for longer than an allotted amount of time (typically 5 seconds, but professionals have a much shorter time to hold onto their ball compared to say, SkyWing schoolchildren). That means that they have to pass it around and snatch it midair.
2. There can be a hoop with a net to throw the ball in, winning a point. It is harder to guard the net (there’s a lot of effort in just flapping in place for a game that can stretch on for hours), therefore both teams take effort to make sure that the ball always remains in the center of the area and never gets over to their side.
3. Ramming each other is a frankly idiotic move (you wanna hit someone and start falling out of the sky? It’s dangerous, just saying). But, there’s nothing against SkyWings playing games of chicken at each other by flying towards each other at top speed and hoping to startle the other into veering aside (or in best, or worse case depending on how you see it, dropping the ball)
4. The game stretches on until a team reaches a specific amount of points. This may take hours, but if you aren’t ready to collapse in victory at the end, did you really win?
- This type of game spread throughout Pyrrhia, becoming popular with other tribes (but with regional variances + some tribes don’t compete at all while others do)
NightWings
- In the Old City of Night, the more rambunctious NightWings raced through canyons all the time. You can almost feel the rock scraping against the edges of your wings.
- Anyway, sports at night without proper illumination is still a bad idea, even with night vision because NightWings you know... blend in with the night? So, sports events were probably rare or they were all done by dawn/sundown which is pretty early or late for the general nocturnal population.
- NightWings probably played their own variant of that aerial ball game (somebody give it a name please) but dragons using mind reading is pretty iffy. And betting on sports outcomes just because you’re a seer is also a bad idea.
- Once they moved to the island, all their games were timed, instead of reaching a certain amount of points. Anyway, the NightWing variant prized speed.
- Aerial sports weren’t too popular on the small island, so more NightWings were urged to study instead.
- NightWings don’t really compete when it comes to the sports department.
RainWings
- Ball games above the canopy, even with a woven safety net sounds pretty tedious because who wants to go onto the rainforest floor or search through a bunch of trees for a dropped ball?
- Instead, RainWings do synchronized flying. If they go fast enough, they’re almost like blurred streaks of color in the air, which is very pretty.
- Would tree-gliding count as an aerial sport? Hmmm....
SandWings
- Just behind the SkyWings when it comes to long-distance flights and racing
- SandWing marathons? They’re given a map of all the oases and a starting point and an end point. There’s dragons at race checkpoints to give you water and to make sure that you don’t get heat exhaustion or dehydrated.
- Such marathons were done in times where there was enough water though.
- SandWings, as neighbors to IceWings, once tried to compete in the same sports (Maybe a variation of that SkyWing aerial ball game?) but they squabbled because the desert was “too hot” for IceWings and the tundra was “too cold” for SandWings, but hell, they probably reached some agreement where nobody was happy.
- SkyWing aerial ball game (give me a name! Please!) variation: SandWings may play with a smaller and heavier ball at times.
IceWings
- Cheating is dishonorable. If you cheat, shame on you. Shame on your mother. Shame on your reindeer! Cheating is good grounds for getting knocked down the rankings quickly
- Most aerial sports were done by children (if you were an adult you could go join the military, but it just wasn’t the same). You have to be very  good to be considered part of the official team representing the IceWings in aerial sports.
- Synchronized flying. IceWings polish their scales to be as glittery as possible and then undergo a lot of complicated aerial maneuvers. Of course, IceWing style synchronized flying and RainWing style synchronized flying are two separate things.
- As much as they’d like to do what’s considered proper IceWing stuff, which is to say, totally 100% Developed In Ice Kingdom sports (They’d probably be snooty and be like “We have our own, unbarbaric, sophisticated sports, thank you very much”) but one day when they sorta open up and start to interact with other kingdoms, they’d also have their own team to compete against all the other tribes for that one SkyWing aerial ball sport (someone give it a name please)
- Losing is dishonorable. There’s a huge pressure for athletes, and they have to train all the time. They occasionally become coaches once they retire.
SeaWings
- Aside from water polo or synchronized swimming, SeaWings developed their own synchronized swimming/flying. Groups of SeaWings swim underwater before splashing into the air and flashing their bioluminescent stripes.
- Typically done at sunset where the surroundings would get steadily darker.
- SeaWings also have diving. They fly up to a specific height before folding in their wings and plummeting into a body of water.
MudWings
- Sports teams are groups of sibs!
- They have this specific game where they have to pass around a ball and try their best to make it land into the hollow of a structure of dried mud, but other MudWings have to block them.
- Generally not seen as too serious. Most MudWings probably prefer to wrestle or other sports.
- MudWings and SkyWings still compete with each other.
Anyway, that’s all I have for now, but I’m interested to see any ideas that you all would have, so feel free to reblog with more (please give me a name for that damn SkyWing aerial ball sport) :)

Tribe Banner concept art:
Folks seemed to enjoy my WOF WIPS, so here’s more concept art for y’all! My favorite thing about WOF is the potential for world building. I thought it’d be cool to see a tribe emblem represented on a banner/flag of sorts:
Read below for some of the thought process / headcannons behind the design choices: 👇
Skywing Banner:
Skywings pride themselves on 3 things; treasure, fire, & their enormous, soaring wingspan which steals the sky.
As such, portrayed on the banner, the fabric (often made with dyed cow or goat leathers) resembles draped dragon wings. Two Skywings embrace a goblet, which is spewing golden fire.
The banner is often held aloft with iron or gold poles, signifying to other tribes their wealth and pride.
Mudwing banner:
These banners are fashioned with leather hides from cow or crocodile skin, held aloft with bamboo, and painted with a Talon-print & Reed crest.
The talonprint symbolizes community and the strength of Mudwing sibling bonds. The reed border unifies all Mudwings regardless of their relationship to home; the swamp. Bigwings are often seen carrying these into battle, signifing their status and making it easier for a sib to locate them in the flurry of a fight.
Sandwing Banner:
Sandwing flags are made with camel skins and dyed cactus leather.
A crest shows a Sandwing coiled around a beaming sun, a reminder that despite the revered 3 moons, Sandwings are born to thrive in sunlight.
The fabric is cut in a way to mimic the swooping dunes of Sandwing territory. And the poles of the flags are equally intricate, with scorpion tails and golden ropes which frame the banner.
These flags make prominent appearances in parades, festivals, and markets, and even miniature version are often displayed in homes or as tapestries/carpets.
Seawing banner:
These banners are often seen displayed in royal quarters or councils, or above land to mark territory.
A nautilus shell crest on front echoes the swirl-pattern associated with royal Seawings: The banner’s borders resemble waves and a dragon swimming beneath their surface.
These are crafted with rich materials, strung with seashells, pearls, silver dollars, and deep oceanic color fabric. There is severe penalty for Seawings found plucking treasure from the banners, as they are a direct symbol of royalty.
Nightwing Banner:
These banners emphasize the Nightwings’ relationship to the moon, their source of power and praise. The material, a contrast of white stitching against purple velvet showcases moonlight and night, black scales against stars, magic and mystery.
They are seen decorated with 3 moons at the top and a centered dragon reaching up into the night sky.
These banners were often used during the war as secret code by spies to deliver to other tribes. Prophecy scrolls often came attached, delivering cryptic messages or secrets in the night. These banners all helped add to the secrecy of the Dragonet Prophecy, and kept tribes on their toes around Nightwings.
Rainwing banner:
Rainwing banners are not used for battle purposes like other tribes, most are mere decoration, location indicators, and have no unified design.
However, It is said back when Rainwings left the rainforest to trade pre-war, this particular banner design was often raised above Rainwing merchant tables, and showcases the coiled tail of a Rainwing with leaves, vines, and other sights from the rainforest adorning a bamboo pole. Bright color combinations accentuated the flag to entice curious customers.
Now, only one tattered version of the original Rainwing banner remains, displayed proudly in Queen Glory’s quarters, a reminder that building the Rainwings’ community is their most important goal.
Icewing Banner:
These banners reflect the same standards Icewings hold themselves to.
Like a visual of the rankings themselves, each banner is cut perfectly from an Icewing’s trained, serrated claws to resemble icicles, and crafted with fine blue stitching.
Flags are often held aloft with perfectly polished narwhal horn or bone, and can be inlaid with sapphires or diamond.
Icewing soldiers are often gifted these during ceremonies, and perform training exercises with the flags to test their stance/attentiveness. The crest showcases the swift sharpness of ice through a flying dragon, and a snowflake toward the bottom reminding Icewings that even minuscule snowflakes, small things, should be perfect in form.

Finally finishing all these guys we’ve got charts and headcanons! (Long post)
Tumblr media
(Height)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Wingspan)
Tumblr media
(Body length & basic shapes I used) (it might be odd but ignore any detail on the back, the shapes are for general body shape)
Headcanons:
Seawings: - Colors range from red and purple to yellow - Aquatic is based off areas of bioluminescence rather than singular scales (because no one wants to draw all of those) - Although they average small compared to the other tribes, gigantism is more common - Wing bioluminescence gene is always present but for some doesn't show, thus aquatic doesn't utilize the wings
Rainwings: - Can change the texture of their scales alongside color - Weakest bite due to their fangs, probably why they're vegetarian - Mimic interesting behaviors - Have forked tongues
Mudwings: - Colors range from olive green to purple-ish red - Very resilient - Able to breathe fire regardless of body temperature, the heat of the flame depends on body temp - Their horns constantly grow and sometimes have to be cut due to dangerous growing patterns - Love gnawing on things, tough foods like jerky is popular - The horn covers of fallen siblings are harvested and turned into instruments to remember them by
Leafwings: - Colors range from gold to teal (and pink to olive green during cold seasons) - Can appear to have false eyes - Bug-like just like the other Pantalan residents (because they're just some weird outlier like what is going on here) - Leafspeak doesn't actually allow them to hear voices from plants but rather increase the sensitivity of their antennae which pick up on the changes in plants - In colder seasons, regions that have deciduous trees influence leafwings in that their scales change into warm tones similar to fallen leaves for camouflage but this also negatively impacts one's leafspeak ability; this doesn't apply to evergreen leafwings however
Hivewings: - Colors range from hot pink to olive green - Can appear to have false eyes - Have elbowed antennae just like their "cousins", Hymenoptera (wasps, bees, ants) - Tend to disregard personal space/get close out of habit, being close means better temp regulation and better communication - All hivewings have stingers, wrist stingers, and a venomous bite but it largely depends on preference of which they choose and like muscles, they can be exercised to become deadly weapons - They're not capable of "emitting a horrible stench"
Icewings: - Colors range from white to pale indigo - Melanism is still very rare but more likely in icewings - Can be iridescent in any color, especially visible in lighter scaled individuals - The scales on their face is very fine and is flushed with blood which darkens the area and allows them to see in the snow by absorbing light, otherwise the glare from the sun reflecting off would be a hinderance - Their wings are thin and thus have visible veins most of the time - Idk how to describe their scales other than its kinda like basalt formations - From the side they appear large but are actually thin and flexible - They can freeze to death if they've gone without cold for a long time and then reintroduced too quickly - In hybridization, they have dominant genes, partially because the animus gene - The extra mane of horns can appear randomly on the body in singular spikes, they also make a clink sound when they collide as if they're made of ice, making a pretty scary rattle when disturbed
Nightwings: - Colors range from orange to purple - Albinism is still very rare but more likely in nightwings - Dwarfism is more common - Teardrop scales are always present, highlighted when the dragon has powers regardless of type - Pitbull ready to bite kids - They CAN hang upside down as the books suggest but not for long - By taking dust baths, they dull their scales to reflect less light and blend in better in the dark - Have white fire but cant breathe for long due to how hot it is (this is mainly to add onto the mysterious factor of em and I always liked the idea) - Due to eye sensitivity, they hate sudden bright lights and will close their eyes as they breathe fire
Silkwings: - Can have black or dark accents but never as a whole body color unless they've hybridized - Wing shapes vary widely - Can appear to have false eyes - Flamesilk is rarer than one might think - Very flexible and have strong tails used as a sort of 5th limb in climbing - Albino or melanistic dragons still keep their iridescence - Silk is emitted through a spinneret on the chin rather than the wrists - Prefer to travel in pairs (instinct)
Sandwings: - Colors range from red to olive green - Dark patters often mimic a snake's - Horse-like in complexion - Alongside their snake-like appearance, they have pit organs - Tend to move like birds - Poor eyesight but good hearing - Their horns angle upwards sort of like a bull
Skywings: - Colors range from red to yellow (and green because skywings are meant to be your typical fire breathing dragon which is most often depicted to be red but can also be green) - Tend to move like birds - Weaker than they appear - Green skywings are incapable of being or having flamescales - Their horns constantly grow and have to be filed down - A flamescale cant melt rock or metal by touch alone, only via fire is it possible - It's not that they don't want flamescales that they kill them, it's more of a mercy killing because of how lonely their life can be

I think daily about how everything relating to MudWing culture connects back to Clay somehow. Like this one character and the things needed to suit his character has just become the entirety of the tribe.
Need a way to be near Peril without catching on fire? Fireproof scales! Clay likes food and is hungry a lot? Actually, food is a big staple of MudWing culture. How about Clay being seen as nothing more than a heartless monster by both himself and his caregivers because he tried killing the others as soon as he hatched? Um, actually it turns out he wasn't killing them but he's this silly little thing called a "bigwings" that helps out their "troop" so like...the DoD are like a MudWing troop lmao.

dragon religion is an idea i think that is rlly awesome. i hope tui goes over it in the guide, anyway. if u have any specific religion ideas / hcs for dragons.. would they have jobs ?? like dragon priests orrrr idk tbh. sorry if this question is annoying im obsessed w the idea of dragons having religion and religion-based jobs
Originally I had like. a whole "series" of like. ideas for each tribe's religion and mythology, but in the interest of actually replying I'll do like. quick bullet points here and I'll try to fill in more later on ^^;;.
I have like. a lot of abstract feelings n concepts because I've always found it interesting how,,, little religion there is in wof at all. There's barely even really "magic", with only really animuses. wof's characters are occasionally superstitious, but all their superstition is based in like- historical events, like Darkstalker or Queen Oasis's murder, and not like. magic. so I want to keep some of that true because I think it's really fitting for a setting of dragons (who have historically usually *been* the gods, rather than the worshippers !!!) and it's also a rare opportunity to like. get into society without religion (this is a hostile zone for the great ice dragon, I'm sorry I Do Not Care About You and your One Off Mention, God Bless)
ANYWAY. Posting this under the cut bc it's kind of massive, read at ur own risk lol (cw for talk of death/funeral rites but that's really it)
Skywings:
Skywings for me have always been the clearest as like. focusing on historic figures as "saints" (though ik that's a pretty christian concept and word, just hang in there I prommy it goes places)
Point being- I've written about it before here, but for Skywings, the sky is alive and holy in its own right. They view it as the foundation of life and believe themselves (and all dragons, though the other tribes abandoned their way of living) as children of it, originally like birds.
It has some slight. monarchist overtures to it with how the sky itself is like an omnipresent parent, and its moods and shifting currents can be seen as a reflection of Skywing culture. When the sky is angry and casting out its children, there is a lesson that needs to be learned, and it is the collective punishment of all Skywings until the problem is fixed.
But past that, Skywings who achieve remarkable things can be recognized as local guardians and figures of protection- when Skywings die, they return to the sky in the form of clouds. Some Skywings also believe birds to be reincarnated Skywings, especially the spirits of those who rebuke the sky and strike off on their own (which is not an inherently bad thing, but a symbol of independence in its most neutral)
Some Skywing patrons I was thinking of were: the patron of duty- the first Skywing soldier, the patron of children/joy- the first kitemaker, the patron of guardians/parents- the lamplighter, and the patron of Skywing excellence/patriotism- the stormchaser.
Miners who die in Skywing tunnels also achieve something akin to a martyr status- spirits of those who bravely sacrificed their time in the sky to keep the caverns safe and protect those who would follow them. Not one patron, but the collective protection of spirits trapped underneath the ground
Sandwings
Sandwings are similar, but different: where Skywings have patrons who have been given a certain holy power, Sandwings have two kinds of spirits: the family spirits and folk heroes
I swear to god I wrote a Sandwing headcanon post, but I genuinely can't find it at all I don't know where it went. FOUND IT WHILE LOOKING FOR MY ICEWINGS POSTS. READ IT HERE. anyway tho starting with house/family spirits: Sandwings tend towards multigenerational homes, moreso than many other tribes, and remembering your family becomes increasingly important when there's so many of you
Most Sandwing houses keep a small shrine or altar for their dead relatives and their family history- some households have patron animals or spirits that they invoke for a little extra boost of fortune but these aren't like family crests as much as your family's,,, collective mythos
The Sandwing creation myth involves the First Sandwing tricking each animal into giving them a piece of themselves- the stinger and venom from scorpions, the quickness and wit of jackals, the resilience and scales of the lizards, and finally just snatching the wings and size from dragonbite vipers who used to rule the desert, who were reduced to their small snake status and have hated every Sandwing since. So if you want to pay special homage to your family being intelligent, the jackal might be your patron
This creation myth varies WILDLY- it can include many different animals or different exact retellings on what the original Sandwing tricked the animals into giving them, so patrons can vary and can be very house-specific
(I have a little draft, somewhere, of Thorn teaching Qibli her family history post-adoption/rescue and it being one of the moments that Qibli really starts to view her as family and not just the next Cobra)
Sandwing folk heroes are also super varied- I subscribe to Sandwings having a heavy oral storytelling tradition and general,,, art culture, so I'm not gonna write every single possible story you could tell with Sandwing folk heroes, but most of them embody those original Sandwing virtues- resilience, intelligence, and quick adaptability to come out on top
Mudwings
Mudwings already have their own dedicated post !!! yippeeeeee !!!! you can read it right over here :>
Mudwings are also big big oral storytellers but unlike Sandwings the gods are a more active part of these stories and the focus is rarely on individual Mudwings as much as the dynamics of the gods' dynamic as a sibling troupe.
Rarely,,, "worshipped" in the way Skywings will venerate their patrons or Sandwings will maintain their shrines, but passively appealed to and celebrated as like. the broadest encapsulation of what it is to be a Mudwing- the way they're moved by the seasons and their families moreso than anything else
Icewings
I wrote more lists originally about Icewing superstitions, which are right here, and I stand by basically all of that. I don't really know how to incorporate gods into that but I think a lot of Icewing superstition is just. vague cultural paranoia about Things Out There
Icewings have the strongest death beliefs/rituals out of any of the tribes imo- Icewing bodies need to be properly buried or the souls don't get to return to the soil, and become stuck on the ice.
Icewing funerals depend on if you live inland or on the coast- burials at sea are common for Icewings on the coast to allow the body to be taken by the water and allowed to disperse that way (though only when the ice isn't frozen over, as otherwise it may become trapped), and Icewings inland prefer open-air/sky burials that allow the body to decompose in nature.
Winter deaths are seen as bad luck, and are given extra caution and work (which also ties into Winter's role as a black sheep in the family- it's a bit of a dark name to give your child, especially as the youngest/least wanted heir of the family)
Great Ice Dragon,,,, I have no ideas for, I imagine just the source of all Icewings and their father who ensures that, despite it all, they can survive.
Seawings
least religious lets goooooooo
Seawings are just. straight up vibing. They're the most down to earth about being alive in the sense they're just animals like everything else (though they still have their own mixed feelings about dolphins from canon)
Seawings do put a lot of stock into destiny and fate though- almost as much as Nightwings, and they have a healthy stargazing culture and track the changing of seasons and time through the stars more than anything else.
Some Seawings think of themselves as fallen stars- scales still glowing from their core of starlight. Seawings who die return to the sky and come back in the form of comets, it's especially good luck to be born under a meteor shower.
Another common superstition is a Seawing's personal star- this can be as serious as knowing exactly where it is in the sky, or as lax as pointing to one and declaring it yours. This is the star that determins your destiny and is your personal guardian, you can look to it for good luck (plus if you pick right it can be a neat way to teach your children how to navigate).
Seawings LOVE tall-tales though. Almost everyone has a story of the time they 10000% saw A Sea Monster or a dolphin spoke to them in riddles, etc etc. Half the words out of a Seawing sailor's mouth are lies, and the other half are exagerrated beyond all reason (except of course,,, for the ones that are true)
This drives other tribes insane btw, especially the more devout ones like Skywings and Icewings. How are you going to make that shit up every time pls be serious for one moment (never)
Nightwings
The other least religious, but this time for complicated cultural reasons of. well. volcano.
Nightwings love science until they don't, essentially. Everything has a reason except the things we don't understand which are mysteries from beyond the pale that we just have to hope will one day become clear.
TL;DR: SO MANY GHOSTS. EVERYTHING IS HAUNTED.
Nightwings are like the closest to a lot of real world agnosticism- it could be real, but we just don't know yet. Lots of ghost sightings though and subtle signals from the universe. It's a bit of a collective coping mechanism for the loss of their powers + the amount of dragons, like Fatespeaker, who were born under the full moons but without a clear sky and thus only left with confusing powers.
(slaps the side of the canon Nightwing art) These bad boys can fit so much victorian ghost fear in them <3
Mastermind has and 100% would again drink absinthe to perform a seance to Nightwing seers of the past, prove me wrong
I think in older Nightwing mythology, there would have been lots of smaller gods and domains- complicated webs of connected esoteric spirits who each vied for power over the material world through their domains and contact with dragons.
The heart of it all is the Moons though- the three sisters of chance/luck, destiny/death, and soul. Something akin to the three fates but each in collaboration with each other over life.
In ye really olden days, some sects thought these spirits worked through scavengers. These guys are pretty broadly considered a strange cult though, and the history is scant at best.
Clearsight and Darkstalker would've grown up aware of these gods but given special privilege due to their powers- mostly as people exempt from the gods due to their connection to the moons as something surpassing the petty whims of spirits. Priests and priestesses would be preferred as powerless, as a clear head is needed to communicate with the gods fully.
Rainwings
Souls !! lots of souls !! Rainwings believe everything has a beating pulse and could be slash is alive in their own unique way.
The Rainwing gods are serpents- wingless but capable of moving through the trees as though they were flying, their scales a constant mass of brilliant colors. Names and identities are a WIP for me, bear with me as I flesh out these guys ;U;
Rainwings are big storytellers as well, and tend to create their own ideas and religions, in a sense. Being a puppeteer and performer especially is the closest to being a priest that a Rainwing can get- by embodying other things you are essentially changing your soul to align with them
Rainwings also aren't. super religious as much as just committed each to their own truth over a collective myth or story. Each Rainwing builds their own unique sense of mythology from the rainforest.
No gods no masters only fruit >:3c
I have some wips for each of these, some of them fics, some of them elaborations and continued myths, but I hope y'all enjoy them !!! All feedback welcome, as always.

MudWing Society
I’m making my own little OC story and its set a couple hundred yrs into the future (about three or four generations maybe) and here are the Mudwings! I have a video up on my YouTube as well, but it says all the same stuff :)
[INSERT IMAGE HERE/I am currently in the process of making the art that goes along with this and the video on my YT that will have all the same information but verbally instead of written]
Territory: The Mudwing kingdom spans from the end of the Diamond Spray River to the merging point of the Mud, Rain, and Sea kingdoms. The majority of its land is the Diamond Spray Delta and the Swamp of the Higher Troops.
Royalty: Royal Families aren't really kept track of past the ruling troop. A female member of the Royal Troop may decorate the bunk where they laid their eggs, however this makes them a target for attack. In the case the Royal Troop is becoming too Elderly to lead, a bunk may be created closer to the castle and guarded by a Higher Troop. The Bigwings of this clutch is deemed the heir and will take over if the current Royal Troop dies naturally.
Mudwings are not run by only Queens. Queens and Kings are both accepted rulers. This is unheard of in every other tribe, especially after Darkstalkers return. Most nonbinary dragons who ascend to the thrown choose weather to be called Queen or King, however the third title ‘Royal’ is also an option.
While Queens, Kings, and Royals are all possible outcomes for Mudwing royalty, the rule stating only a feminine presenting dragon may challenge the current ruler still stands. Both trans and cis women can challenge the ruler, and occasionally a more feminine presenting nonbinary dragon is accepted.  The other requirement for challenging the queen is that the dragon is of a Higher Troop. In years past clutches of the queen would be tracked and layed right outside the castle, however the castle is no longer in solitude and now has higher troop bunkers surrounding it.
Between the Castle no longer standing alone, and the nature of the mudwings monthly mating night, tracking royal clutches became too difficult.
Occasionally a female sib will win a challenge against the queen and give it to her brother bigwings, however this is frowned upon and does not happen often.
It is important to note that it is more likely for clutches of royal decent to have a female bigwings.
Higher Troops: These are the wealthier troops of the tribe. These dragons are usually warriors or plantation owners. Troops of this ranking are also usually larger in numbers and physically stronger. Outside of royalty, treasure or coin value is not a large part of Mudwing society. Wealth is measured by strength of a troop and how much livestock (and occasionally farming land) the troop protects. Higher Troops live on giant plantations surrounding the castle. If a Higher Troop begins to weaken, a Lower Troop or a stronger Higher Troop may attempt to take land. Mudwings are not usually ambitious dragons, however Bigwings will do what is needed to provide for their troop and pass their genes along.
There are also Higher Troops spread out along the Mudwing kingdom, they usually control larger villages or are content to have their plantations in solitude rather than next to the castle.
Higher troops may also be diplomats or scholars of the Ruler instead of warriors or farmers, however this position is usually given to the Rulers sibs/members of the Royal Troop.
Occasionally a Higher Troops status can be improved by having the Loyalty of other Troops (both of Lesser and Higher ranks). Specifics depend on the instance.
Lesser Troops: These are the poor/commoners of the Mudwing kingdom. Usually scavengers scavengers, shop owners, or small farm owners these dragons do not possess much wealth and mostly live day to day. Dragons of this rank live in the Diamond Spray Delta and make up the majority of Mudwing society.
Lesser Troops usually have a dragon that gathers and farms, a dragon that knows basic healing, a lookout, and a dragon that can make things like cloth, baskets, or jewelry.
Trade is common with these troops, both inside their villages and with dragons of other tribes. Lesser Troops have what they need and don’t look for much more.
Some Lesser Troops work on Higher Troops plantations.
Breeding Night: There are three main components of Mudwing repopulation. Monthly breeding nights, the Mid-year Harvest, and The Queens Mating.
Monthly Breeding Nights: These nights have been in Mudwing culture for as long as anyone can remember. Once a month a Mudwing can choose to go out and breed with another Mudwing in the surrounding village. Upon sunrise each individual returns the their Troop Bunker and essentially forgets the whole thing ever happened.
Mid-Year Harvest: The Mid-Year Harvest is something started by Queen Moss. It is a night that happens once a year on the mating night closest to the exact middle of the year. Dragons from all over may gather in the Royal and High Troop lands and feast for one night. Dragons from any other tribe are welcome as well, however unless settled in the mudwing kingdom they must leave the following sunrise.
While Queen Moss created this more as a social event and show of acceptance of other tribes, her adopted troopmate Malachite was the one who convinced the tribe of the gathering. Stating it would be good for the tribe overall as many dragonets were being born deformed due to inbreeding, and things like Sandwing stingers or Skywing size would help make the Mudwings stronger.
The harvest is one of the two ways excess riches from the Higher Troops is used.
The Queens Mating: This is also an event that happens only once a year (with the rare second or third happening) and is where the rest of the Higher Troops riches go. On the last night of the prior year and the first night of the upcoming year (this is the same night btw) the current Mudwing ruler will choose anywhere from one to five dragons to breed with.
A dragon hoping to be chosen will give gifts to the queen throughout the year. While Higher Troops are usually the only ones who have enough to give a gift to the Ruler, occasionally a member of a Lower Troop will gift a well made piece of jewelry or clothing.
Record Keeping: While outside of the occasional Lower Troop book-keeper or Royal/Higher Troop scholar, physical records are not common among Mudwing society. The true non-verbal records Mudwings keep are history books and yearly tribe headcounts.
One week after the Mid-Year Harvest each sib of the current Ruler and/or alive sibs of the past ruler are assigned a portion of the kingdom and take note of all dragons/troops living inside it.
Other:  - Mudwings usually keep to their own and are content to stay within the confines of their kingdom. - Although mating nights happen once a month, clutches are not likley to survive the first few months of growth due to starvation or being killed by creatures of the marsh      - occasionally villagers will leave out food for younger dragons - Mudwings are thought to be stupid (ironically especially those of Higher Troops) however they simply have a limited vocabulary. Those who run farms or plantations especially as animal calls are used more often than words.  - If the ruler dies before their sibs, a member of the Royal troop can take over in place of an heir
Another important note is that as time goes on a Mudwing Ruler may not even exist, instead Mudwing Territory will be run by Higher Troops and Lower Troops will live within their jurisdiction or within a Lower Troop Village.

I think it would be boring if all dragons had the same fire.
