Are videos for cats (like ones of birbs and mouseses) okay for kitties to watch?
There is currently a debate happening in my house about how "it's not fair" since they can't catch the craytures but I personally thought it was good environmental enrichment which doesn't risk actual wild life
And would your opinion change if you were told they are played on a tablet where said cat can bat at the screen (without pausing the video)
It depends on the cat. These kinds of activities aren't safe for a high-drive cat like Saia, because she WILL launch herself at the moving object. It's a great hunting technique, unless the prey item happens to be a video on a laptop screen.
My new laptop is very nice, though, so i can't complain.
For the most part, it's perfectly fine. The cats don't really care that they can't catch the prey--- they don't get frustrated over it, although it's nice to have a toy nearby just in case they DO get over-excited and need to get rid of their energy. I think the interactive tablet screens are especially cute and fun.
They may say they’re evil, but evil is all style for Mousesize! It’s all bark and no bite here, with artistic flair and a fair bit of very excellent industry wisdom —our last but certainly not least Sage of Art!
